President Obama’s Final SOTU Set For January 12th

President Obama’s final State Of The Union address has been scheduled for January 12th. TIME reports:

The timing was announced by newly installed Speaker Paul Ryan, who will host the president’s speech. It will be the 10th time Obama has addressed a joint session of Congress and his seventh State of the Union. (His first, 2009 address is not considered a State of the Union address.)

“As we look ahead to the new year, we have both an opportunity and an obligation to find common ground to advance the nation’s interests at home and abroad,” wrote Ryan in his invitation to Obama. “We also owe it to the American people to present solutions that address the challenges they face. In that spirit, it is my honor to invite you to deliver your State of the Union address.”

Today’s announcement is being met with glee from right wingers on Twitter.
