Elaborately Coiffed Boy Declares Doll is “SO Fierce!” In New Ad For Moschino Barbie [VIDEO]

You-know-who is going to go apeshit. The Advocate reports:

The new Moschino Barbie is a huge hit (currently sold-out!), and its commercial is breaking boundaries by featuring a young boy in it. “Moschino Barbie is so fierce!” the boy screams as he and two female friends laud the doll, done up in designer Jeremy Scott’s sleek glamour. Barbie’s cellphone goes off and the male child says, “It’s for you, Moschino Barbie,” before winking at the camera. The strict gender lines of toys and children’s accessories have slowly been breaking down, with Target moving to make its signage more gender-neutral.

More from Vogue:

Earlier this week, Moschino debuted a limited-edition Barbie clad in the house’s signature logo belts and paint leather suiting. The run of about 700 dolls sold out less than an hour after they went on sale on Tuesday. And while it’s none too hard to figure out why Moschino fans would queue up to get their hands on the chic dolls—they were priced at the accessible sum of $150, after all—it’s somewhat surprising to see them already listed on eBay for prices in the $400 to $800 range. The moral of the story is not only that no cult-favorite collaboration is immune to the aftermarket, but also that fashion world Barbies are items with immense aftermarket value.

It seems odd that Mattel would make an ad for limited-edition doll with a run of only 700 units. Unless, you know, they are sending a message to you-know-who.
