GOP House Rep Busted With Cocaine

Freshman US House Rep. Trey Radel (R-FL), who bills himself as a “hip-hop conservative,” has been charged with cocaine possession.

Radel, 37, was charged with misdemeanor possession of cocaine in D.C. Superior Court on Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. Radel faces a maximum of 180 days in jail, as well as a possible fine up to $1,000. The U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia declined to comment on Radel’s arrest or criminal cases. The Florida Republican is a former journalist, TV anchor and radio talk-show host. He never held elective office before winning his House seat last November.

Radel owns a company that buys and sells domain names. More than a year before he ran for the House, he bought domains bearing the names of his eventual opponents in the race, a fact that he at first denied but later admitted.
