KENTUCKY: First Marriage Lawsuit Filed

A Kentucky gay couple has become the first to file a federal lawsuit against that state’s ban on same-sex marriage. Louisville’s WLKY has a brief item:

Louisville attorneys Shannon Fauver and Dawn Elliot filed a 19-page federal lawsuit Friday morning, challenging Kentucky’s constitutional ban on same sex marriage. The plaintiffs in the suit are Gregory Bourke and Michael Deleon who have been married 31 years. They’ve adopted children together and live in Louisville. The suit claims their exclusion of marriage undermines the couple’s ability to achieve their life goals and dreams and it deprives them of numerous legal protections that are available to opposite-sex couples in Kentucky.
