Dick Cheney: My Standing Up For Marriage Would Have Killed Dubya’s Chances

Dick Cheney, who has since endorsed marriage equality, claimed yesterday that he remained silent during the 2000 campaign because he knew if he spoke up it would have damaged Dubya’s election chances. The former vice president suggested it wouldn’t have done much good and probably would have sunk President George W. Bush’s prospects for office. “Why?” he responded to ABC …

Buzzfeed takes a dim view of this new instructional video. Too soon? The somewhat helpful—and also somewhat comical—video is via the Houston mayor’s office, made with grant money from the Department of Homeland Security. There’s this bit of flip copy at the beginning: “It may just feel like another day at the office. But occasionally, life feels more like an …

Romney: I Won’t Criticize Israel

Think Progress writes: Fresh off of telling the United Kingdom that it wasn’t ready for the Olympics during a tour of London, Romney unsubtly jabbed President Obama in Jerusalem this Sunday for criticizing Israeli policy. An inevitable development for 3D printers. Get ready. It’s now possible to print weapons at home. An amateur gunsmith, operating under the handle of “HaveBlue” (incidentally, “Have Blue” is the codename that was used for the prototype stealth fighter that became the Lockheed F-117), announced recently in online forums that he had successfully printed a serviceable .22 caliber pistol. Despite …

“Not every gay or lesbian person wants to be an activist, and when a public figure comes out, he or she can be thrust into that role by the media, which start asking the individual’s opinion on every gay topic of the day.
