Blame Canada

New York is seeing its coolest and wettest June in many years. The temp has rarely gotten above 70 and rainfall is already way above normal for the entire month. Here’s why:

Abnormal cold across Canada has pushed the jet stream south of its usual location near the U.S.-Canada border. Instead, the jet stream is stretching from the Great Lakes to south off New Jersey’s coast and south of Long Island. Because storms track along the jet stream, “we’re basically in the storm track instead of south of the storm track,” Maloit said, and that has meant rain, rain and more rain.

I haven’t minded it, my AC hasn’t been turned on yet this year.
