Rep. Steve King: Julian Castro And Joaquin Castro Are Learning Spanish To “Qualify As Retroactive Hispanics”

The Hill reports:

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) took to Twitter with a controversial claim about Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro (D) and his brother, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro. In a tweet on Thursday, King accused the two brothers, who are second generation Mexican Americans, of taking “Spanish lessons to qualify as retroactive Hispanics.”

The GOP lawmaker’s controversial remark arrived in response to a tweet criticizing Rep. Beto O’ Rourke for changing his name from Robert Francis O’Rourke as “another example of just how Democrats get when the actual Latino in the race (Ted Cruz) stands against everything they stand for.”

King, as you surely know, has a long history of racist tweets, some of which have promoted well-known white supremacists and foreign neo-Nazis.

It should also be pointed out that Beto offered to debate Ted Cruz in Spanish, but Cruz refused because he is not fluent. It’s so unfair!
