Ivanka Trump marked the one-year anniversary of the deadly violence in Charlottesville, Va., by condemning racism late Saturday. Hours ahead of the “Unite the Right 2” rally, the first daughter and White House adviser once again went further in singling out white supremacy than her father, President Trump, who earlier in the day denounced “all types of racism.”
In the aftermath of the violence, President Trump faced backlash when he said there was “blame on both sides” of the clashes. While the president initially hesitated to condemn neo-Nazis and white supremacists, Ivanka Trump did not. “There should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis,” tweeted soon after. “We must all come together as Americans — and be one country UNITED.”
