REPORT: McCabe Kept “Personal Memos” On Trump

The Associated Press reports:

Andrew McCabe — the former FBI deputy director just fired by the attorney general — kept personal memos regarding President Donald Trump. That’s according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation who wasn’t authorized to discuss the memos publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

This person says the memos are similar to the ones maintained by former FBI Director James Comey, who Trump fired last May. Comey’s series of notes detailed interactions with Trump that Comey said unnerved him.

The person with knowledge of McCabe’s situation says McCabe’s memos include details of interactions with the president, among other topics. It’s not immediately clear whether any of the McCabe memos have been turned over to special counsel Robert Mueller or requested by Mueller.

  • DreadPikathulhu

My bet is that they’ll fire Mueller by Monday, then the shit will really hit the fan as everything comes out.

    • Lizard

They have to know that firing Mueller will break open the information floodgates.

      • coram nobis

Question then is, who prosecutes? There may not be anybody with the authority.

        • Marc: The Social Gadfly

That’s been the case all along with Rethuglicans in charge. But, who is supposed to be in charge? It’s always been up to us.

We are right and truly fucked, and if enough democrats don’t come out and vote out these thugs this could be the end of our country as we have known it to be.

    OT A Four-Star Army General Says It…

Reluctantly I have concluded that President Trump is a serious threat to US

    • It seems that all the soft soap that cheetolini has been peddling to the Military isn’t working. We might for the first time ever have a Military who won’t fulfill a presidents demands.

      • evanedwards

Everyone in the military took an oath to protect this country from all threats both foreign and domestic. I think the vast majority of them take that oath very seriously.

        • All the military I’ve known take their service extremely serious. The vast majority of them are in the services because they love our country, a commitment that for the most part transcends politics and partisan squabbles.

          • Randy503

And they have made sacrifices over their lifetimes. Service isn’t easy at any level, and they do not their sacrifices, or the sacrifices of their friends and comrades, to be cheapened. using the military to enhance your personal fortune is about as cheap as you can get.

I have a friend who was the top level civilian in the air force — very high up. He takes his patriotism very seriously, and most defiantly has nothing but scorn for those who do not.

        • If you mean enlisted folks and junior grade officers, I agree.

Right now I find myself wondering about a lot of the upper brass and that oath.

O/T – I received the following from Indivisible this morning:

“Trump worked with outside conservatives to purge the State Department. Documents obtained by Reps. Elijah Cummings and Eliot Engel indicate that the White House and State Department worked together with outside conservatives like Newt Gingrich to drive career civil service officials out of the government. This ideological purge has contributed to our diplomatic corps being drained of the expertise it needs to manage the Trump Threat”

    https://democrats-oversight.house.gov/sites/democrats.oversight.house.gov/files/documents/2018-03-15.EEC%20EEngel%20to%20WH%20%26%20State.pdf

Trump proves, over and over, his incredible stupidity.

He thought firing Comey would end the Russian investigation. Instead, it set off a fire storm and directly led to the Mueller investigation.

Because Trump is so stupid, he learned nothing from this, so he thinks that getting McCabe fired was a smart move.

    Stupid is as Trump does.

    • coram nobis

It’s also the pettiness of it, the vindictive pettiness. If he had simply let McCabe retire, that would have made a lot less of a splash.

It may also make news editors keep someone on duty Friday and Saturday nights to keep an eye out for quiet-period news dumps.

      • LeeCMH

I have the full 3 volume hard back compendium of Bill Waterson “Calvin and Hobbs” and there are many many examples of Trump being Calvin in there

      • Trump is vindictive and petty, but he’s also trying to discredit McCabe, tainting him as a disgruntled ex-employee whose testimony against Trump is motivated solely out of being punished for his misdeeds.

That’s why McCabe’s contemporaneous memos are so important, especially if they predate any attacks by Trump and any “disgruntled ex-employee” time period.

  • I’m totally schizo about this whole mess, from day to day. I SO want to believe Mueller is going to take this all the way. But i don’t forget he’s a republican. I don’t forget that 99% of rethugs in DC are dirty in some way, and likely easily blackmailed by someone with experience with that like pootie has. I don’t forget that our press is little more than millionaires who make a living apologizing for billionaires. I don’t forget that plenty of Americans don’t bother with politics at all, or that protests are mostly ignored. It’s so depressing.

This is why I could never be religious. I have no idea how people can sustain belief in the impossible, when it’s hard enough to sustain hope for the unlikely.

    • Friday

Really depends on the religion, there. If you’re banking on ‘the impossible’ …you’re probably doing it wrong. 🙂

It’s generally not a good sign if a religion is asking you to ‘wager’ on something like that. If it’s not worth living *here,* it’s probably not a good bet for ‘unknowns.’

    • DaddyRay

I have a breadbox full of memos about you too

        That’s old-school.
I dictate them to the microwave
        Thanks, Obama!

    • CharlestonDave

Handwich, it’d be a shame if one of these extra-long toothpicks here got acquainted with your flip side. Just sayin’.

  • MikeBx2

Yeah, I had a feeling this would make news.

Have little love for Comey. But if he can torch em all,.then go for it .

      • TheSeer

I have forgiven Comey what he did to Hillary.

  • Leo

So the Cambridge Analytica story is still blowing up further on Twitter. I’d pull up new stories and trending quotes but don’t have the energy. It’s just kind of mind blowing and terrifying. The psychological profiles were much more in depth and Facebook’s lies were actually much worse and the Mercers are going down soon. That’s all you need to know.

  • Lazycrockett

MSNBC quote of the day. “Roy Cohen smiling from Hell over this matter.”

More dizzy Drama Queen Shitgibbon antics. Deny a man his retirement for political reasons is just pure Republican Bullshit.

So since you met in the maternity ward, that means your fortieth birthdays are also today! Congratulations!

        • hahahahahaaaa! I was 18, he was 20. It’s been one hell of a ride, one I wouldn’t trade for anything.

          • Michael White

It just keeps getting better the highs and the lows just bring you closer together.

          • Reality.Bites

That still makes you pretty damn young to be celebrating 40 years! Congratulations

      • worstcultever

        Nice, and cheers!

Many congratulations! So happy to hear this. 🙂

Manning’s Linda Tripp. Both of them (Manning and Lamo) tortured souls. Whatever a shit I thought Lamo was, that’s way too young to die. RIP.

  • Of course he did. And I bet they date back to day one, before he was under attack from Trump, before Comey was even fired.

  • Bad Tom

“It’s not immediately clear whether any of the McCabe memos have been turned over to special counsel Robert Mueller or requested by Mueller.”

*Raises hand* Oooo! I know! I know!
Mr. Mueller already has these memos, or will in a matter of hours.

    • Treant

I still give it a ten percent chance they accidentally fall into a burning garbage bin and are forgotten.

    • arewemenoramidevo

Latest CNN breaking news: Mueller has them.
      Happy St. Paddy’s, Treant!

    • bkmn

McCabe probably gave Mueller the memos in an envelope with instructions not to open them until he called.

  • JWC

Trump “The Art of the Deal’ is so stupid He piles on the controversy of petty firings , corruption, collusion , and Stormy and we all know he is very thin skinned He claims to like Chaos and indicate he has only “just begun” OK folks lets see where this shit show is headed

  • Henry Auvil

Trump is an idiot. The presidency is NOT a two-bit reality show, and you never FIRE the guy who still has receipts.

  • Gustav2

    Taking notes is witchcraft!

  • bkmn

Sure does sound like he is following the Comey playbook, especially with the interviews he did ahead of his firing.

    • MassageBear

Maintaining notes of such meetings is SOP for most civil service personnel. My boss always had us document EVERYTHING and give him the originals. I always kept copies of all my notes. And I was only a state civil service employee, but from what I’ve seen in my contacts with federal surveyors/inspectors, it’s a widely accepted practice in all government service.

So much for the right-wing cult of the Founding Fathers.

Looks like the Founding Fathers weren’t such God-inspired geniuses after all.

The system they set up allowed this to happen.

The slavery issue should have been a clue.

Trump is laying bare the weaknesses in our Constitution.

    • TheSeer

      It’s treason of historical proportions.

    • coram nobis

The machinery is still grinding. Let it work.

… I cannot, of course, deny that these men are surprised that this is the law; they really are surprised that there is any such thing as law. These defendants did not rely on any law at all. Their program ignored and defied all law.
      — Justice Robert Jackson, opening prosecution statement, first Nuremberg trial

      • joe ho

But Trump is stacking the federal judiciary with far-right judges who will protect him. Just as the Congress, which is supposed to serve as a check on the executive, is now enabling him.

        • coram nobis

We will see. Remember that Richard Nixon also got to pick judges, but when the Court ruled in Nixon v. U.S. at the climax of the Watergate scandal, that ruling didn’t go his way.

Of course, if this time nothing works, then the history of the Republic ends at this point and we’re stuck with this kleptocracy forever, Donald or no Donald.

          • ChrisMorley

We can hope that NATO will take a very keen and interventionist interest in a key member careening off the rails.

            Like with Bosnia and Kosovo?

I hope the memos have useful dirt on Trump.
    Not something like
    Dear Diary,
He called again to to say there was no collusion. He asked me to come over for dinner. I said that I am washing my hair that night.
    OHHH, I hate him.

        • Ann Kah

Sex, money, and politics …for decades they were considered the topics that a well-bred person would not discuss at the table. I must say, I appreciated presidents a lot more when we didn’t have wall to wall media coverage.

Precisely. It could be any Thanksgiving in the U.S. in recent years.

      Heres hoping they are used.

  • netxtown

I’m hatefully enjoying the way donnie thinks this ‘job’ is forever. He obviously doesn’t get it that one day soon all of the protections and amenities afforded a president will no longer surround him – even less so with impeachment. And when his tarred and feathered nekked ass is tossed into the street, and us common people get to have our way – there just won’t be much left of the monstrous orange turd. Oh happy day!

    • Ann Kah

Unfortunately, past presidents get protection for their lives, so even when he is out of office he will still cost us all millions. Well…unless his future contains a small cell and a diet of bread and water…

Trump will go down in history, with an asterisk beside his name.

  • DumbHairyApe

The personal memos will come in handy during the trial of the century.

And, it’ll be convenient when he wants to publish his memoir and write a book or two.

    • Ann Kah

I’d like to see him earn enough (between the book and his public appearances) to make up for the pension that El Cheapo wants to deny him.

As the drag queens are known to say……CHIRP GURL! Ms the president trump was finally going to cross the wrong bitches…said bitches were likely to get together and each throw a bat wing in the cauldron and start to stir. The spell that results will bring down the presidency…then Melania will be free! I know some girls other than Omarosa were keeping notes, pics and recordings not to mention Stormi’s gold lewinsky dress. Like diarrhea when it starts, it will not stop until it is done. LOL. Let the fart start.
