Operative Tied To Trump Once Indicted For Child Porn

The Atlantic reports:

A political operative who frequented the White House in the early days of President Trump’s administration, George Nader, was indicted in 1985 on charges of importing to the United States obscene material, including photos of nude boys “engaged in a variety of sexual acts,” according to publicly available court records.

Nader pleaded not guilty, and the charges against him were ultimately dismissed several months after evidence seized from Nader’s home was thrown out on procedural grounds. “Mr. Nader vigorously denies the allegations now, as he did then,” a lawyer representing Nader said.

Nevertheless, the indictment raises questions about what the White House knew, if anything, about Nader’s past while senior officials were meeting with him. The Trump administration is already under fire for failures to vet members of the president’s inner circle. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Nader’s name has surfaced in recent days with reports that he is a cooperating witness in Robert Mueller’s investigation.

CNN reports:

A Middle East specialist with ties to Donald Trump’s team attended secret meetings during the presidential transition between the United Arab Emirates and Trump associates, and is now cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller, two people familiar with the matter say.

George Nader, a low-profile diplomatic go-between who has forged close ties to the Emirates, was stopped and questioned by the FBI at Dulles International Airport in January as he returned from an overseas trip, these sources say. Since then, he has been talking to Mueller’s investigators and providing information to the grand jury.

Nader attended a December 2016 meeting in New York between Emirati officials and members of Trump’s inner circle, and another in January 2017 in the Seychelles islands between the Emiratis and Erik Prince, a Trump associate. Nader was also in the Seychelles when Prince met with a Russian banker, the sources said.

      Birds of a feather…

    • Wisterley

I’ve never heard of Roy Cohn being a pedophile, As to the others, though gross and sleazy, they were accused of being involved with underage girls – as was Trump, most likely – which is not the same thing as pedophilia. Who is Sarah Kendzior?

        • Wisterley

Impressive. Thanks. I still find her to be playing fast and loose with an extremely emotive, and inaccurately applied, term.

          • SoCalGal20

That’s fine but but adult men drugging and fucking and trafficking in 13 and 14 year old girls (what Epstein did and what Trump is accused of, don’t know the soecifics on the others) is bad and illegal no matter what term you use.

          • Wisterley

Of course it is, it’s disgusting and criminal, but it is not pedophilia which is a particular paraphilia, the word means a particular thing and when it’s used it in a blanket manner to express moral outrage, while understandable, to my mind it lets the accused off the hook. I think it’s better to be specific about what it is of which they stand accused – or found guilty. The mention of Cohn looks to me like the tweeter is lumping him in to that category because he had a much younger partner – unless there’s something of which I’m unaware – always a possibility – and that’s not okay. Loathsome he certainly was but let’s loathe him for the right reasons.

      • William

What I’ve heard about Roy Cohn is he liked them legal and young.

        • Wisterley

Right. But, vile as he was, not children.

        • JCF

*To me* “…but s/he was legal!” is the last refuge of scoundrel. Maybe not a criminal, but a scoundrel nonetheless.

Any exploitation of a minor is bad, but I wish they would be more specific. Are we talking 5 year olds, 10 year olds, or 15 year olds? That difference does matter, though all are illegal.

The GOP and especially the fundajelical wing has always tried to use the whole “we pwotect da bebies & childwen” garbage. Between this, Roy Moore and the “we’re against banning parents from shoving off their underage children to creepy predators in the name of marriage,” that needs to be fucking shut down. It was never true in the first place but it’s like every year they make it more obvious how much of it is shit.

I’m sorry but “due process” is essential in a non-dictatorship. If an accusation can lead to ruin then we’re all in danger: as gay men we ought to remember the past use of innuendo against our people

This is a very unfortunate distraction. Nader plays a pivotal role in the Trump/Putin backchannel story, and that is what we all need to be focusing on.
