Homocon Carl DeMaio Files Another US House Run

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports:

Former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio has taken preliminary steps for another run for Congress, this time for a seat held by fellow Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine. San Diego County Registrar of Voters Michael Vu said that DeMaio has taken paperwork to run for California’s 50th District, an area that includes eastern and northeastern parts of San Diego County, plus part of Temecula.

DeMaio is a conservative talk-radio host on KOGO-AM (600) and is involved in an effort to repeal a gas tax that pays for statewide infrastructure projects. He served on the San Diego City Council from 2008 until 2012, when he ran for mayor, finishing with 47.5 percent of the vote, just behind Bob Filner in the general election. DeMaio ran for Congress in 2014 in the 52nd District but lost to now-Rep. Scott Peters, D-San Diego after receiving 48.4 percent of the vote.

Longtime readers will recall that I covered DeMaio’s scandal-plagued 2014 run extensively. At the time, the San Diego Voice had to run recaps just to keep track of the bizarre scandals.
