Smith & Wesson CEO: Gun Sales Are Up Since Parkland

Reuters reports:

The chief executive officer of American Outdoor Brands Corporation (AOBC.O), maker of Smith & Wesson guns, on Thursday said gun retailers reported increased foot traffic and sales after the Florida high school shooting.

CEO James Debney, on a conference call with investors to discuss earnings, briefly addressed the Feb. 14 attack at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which has sparked a wave of student protests and calls for gun control legislation.

Small penis men get worried they won’t be able to buy weapons to make them feel better…so the rush is on.

    • Snownova

Yup, the cycle is well documented. Gun sales go up whenever a Democrat is elected or the news cycle covers a gun crime. They go down when Republicans are in power and there’s no news that worries gun-nuts.

so the Dotard says something silly like ending due process and sales go back up again. Was it on purpose, or is he a useful idiot for the gun industry?

    Another victory for the GOP/NRA!

What are a few dozen dead kids? Gun sales are up!

Batesville Casket Company announces to shareholders that sales are up after the flu epidemic. “Those deaths sure boosted our profits!” /s

  • Bluto

Well of course sales are up. Everyone, put on your best surprised look.

No surprise there. A shocking mass shooting happens, the NRA/right screams “They’re gonna take away our guns!” and guns go flying out the door. An unethical investor would do well to buy stock in gun companies after every large mass shooting event.

    • SkokieGuy / May attempt snark

Guns sales dropped after Obama left office. They have to be careful to not appear too gleeful after this mass murder of children gave then the sales boost they wanted. Ooops. They are gleeful – my bad.

Yeah, by the same people who need just 10 more guns and they’ll feel safe

And this is America. Instead of hiding in shame, he brags about this.

I’m not religious and certainly not Christian, but I hope Matthew 26:52 is correct.

  • Joe in PA

But, but Dana said it was the MSM that likes these mass murders. Huh.

  • Mark Née Fuzz

Cuz Trump is coming to grab their guns. (Well he said so anyway. But rational people know his word doesn’t mean squat.)

  • JackFknTwist

Killing kids is good for business !

No one appreciates what living in a “society” means.

  • Makoto

Well, so long as the precious and innocent guns are protected, and really, the sacred and holy bottom line is raised, the offering of children upon the altar of the NRA makes total sense.

Don’t forget those checks, guys! And the thoughts and prayers – really, those take away the sting of burying folks. Who could complain after that.. what, the surviving kids are? Ummm.. kids should be more respectful and they definitely don’t know about the complex logic of guns go bang and kill things.. umm..

  • DaveMiller135

I’m not sure they should try to make the death of children seem like a marketing strategy.

  • TimJ

Where is his PR person? Not so sure I’d be bragging about this….

  • Nate

If I was a conspiracy theory douche, couldn’t I say school shootings are false flags created by the gun companies to sell more guns. Makes as much sense as the reverse argument people are always saying.

    • Bambino

      Hence NRA = ISIL.

  • thatotherjean

Of course they are. Gun sales go up every time anybody breathes a word about gun control. All the gun nuts rush out and buy another gun, just to show the liberals, and to stock up before the boogeyman du jour forces them off the market. This time, the nuts might have a reason to worry.

  • KnownDonorDad

Of course they are. They were up while Obama was supposed to stop all gun sales, or confiscate all the guns, or whatever, too.

  • This happens after every publicized shooting. The right is so paranoid about someone taking their guns away that they now reflexively run out after every news story about gun violence and buy up weapons “while they still can”. For eight years they were fed the lie that Obama was about to outlaw all guns. Well they still have those guns plus the many more they purchased since 2008. It’s a well conditioned response by now so it’s no longer necessary for the gun manufacturers to put in any effort. CNN covers a story about a mass shooting and off they run to the nearest store that sells guns. It’s insanity, but it’s our reality.

  • jayjonson

Yes, after each gun massacre gun sales go up. That’s why the NRA is happy to have the massacres continue. Or as they say in legalese, “who benefits”?

  • rednekokie

Of course they would be — more numb nuts want to get in on the party.

    As usual. 🙁

Something is dreadfully wrong when Mr Debney can view this as a “Good thing”

    Whew, I was worried.

I bet he came in his pants as he was letting that news out, just like Wayne LaPierre does.

I think the shock of learning cops have no intention of risking their lives to save children’s lives would make any parent realize they need to protect their own families. You’re living in a fantasy world if you believe the government will project you. They only protect the institution.
