The Hill reports:
Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) on Sunday said he doesn’t support President Trump’s proposal to arm teachers. “I disagree with him,” Scott said during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”
“I believe you have to focus on people that are well-trained, law enforcement that are trained to do this. I want to make sure we have significant law enforcement presence on top of hardening the schools.”
Scott mentioned metal detectors, bullet-proof glass and better perimeter fencing as options that could make schools safer. His comments come after 17 people were killed when a gunman opened fire at a Florida high school.
