French Fascist Marion Le Pen To Speak At CPAC

Jaws dropped on Twitter this afternoon when CPAC published the full agenda for this week’s convention, revealing that French fascist Marion Le Pen will speak from the main stage immediately after Mike Pence.

Marion, you may recall, is the even worse niece of National Front leader Marine Le Pen and in 2012 at age 22 became the youngest person ever elected to the French Parliament.

Following Marine Le Pen’s drubbing by Emmanuel Macron in last year’s presidential election, Marion announced that she would not seek reelection and her term expired in June 2017. Marion had “personally guaranteed” that France’s same-sex marriage law would be “demolished” upon her aunt’s election.

In 2016, two weeks after headlining a massive anti-gay rally organized by the hate group La Manif Pour Tous, Marion was hired by Steve Bannon as part of Breitbart‘s aborted expansion into France and Germany. Marion has called for France to institute repressive “homosexual propaganda” laws similar to Russia’s.

Marion’s grandfather, Jean-Marie Le Pen, the founder of the National Front, is perhaps Europe’s most notorious living fascist, having been convicted multiple times for inciting racial hatred and denying the Holocaust.

  • safari

She also took Russian money for her election, so she’s in good company.

    • Lumpy Gaga

      YAAAS! TZARINA!

  • HZ81

Wow, I am just so not shocked.

Gay-hating racist at CPAC? So odd. Now, let’s watch LCR have a closet glory hole suck-off over who gets to be the first one to meet & greet their winger diva!

“She’s like Madonna and Beyonce and Hitler all in one!”

    • safari

“She didn’t openly threaten to kill me, so she’s my gal!”

      • HZ81

“We can have differing opinions and still get along. Like, she disagrees with my right to breathe and I disagree with her hairstyle. Samezies!”

    • zhera

Will LCR be allowed to even enter the convention this year? They’ve been treated like shit for years, yet still return, over and over.

      • HZ81

I’m sure they’re begging Trump for a space in the trunk of his car right now.

    • Barry William Teske

Perhaps not to ask IS the problem?

    • Lumpy Gaga

It’s certainly worth asking who’s paying.

    • Because it isn’t trolling. It never was. These people are serious. You aha e to take them seriously.

When they say they want to kill all of us, they are not joking.

    • safari

Remember when this dominated news cycles for a week?

      Time moved differently back then.

      • You know, the song she’s singing is beautiful. And relevant, even now.

The Front National wants you to believe that France is for Whites only, and the Catholic Church should take over responsibility for all social programs, including those for children, from the government. FN endorses the idea that the state exists only to preserve militarily the social hierarchy based on class and race.

    Just an unpleasant reminder.
About what was started but never finished.

    HATE is NOT free speech.
HATE costs everyone time, money, but most importantly, loss of potential lives lived.

    We must ask ourselves:
At what point, in all our lives, did the violence that is HATE become so acceptable?

  • Adam

she doesn’t even speak a dollop of english

  • Well, we see forming a new axis. In the 1930’s, it was Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan. Now, it is France, Russia, and the US. How ironic that the powers who once fought fascism have now become fascists themselves, or veer dangerously close to it, anyway.

Our grandfathers would vomit in our faces for this.

    • Dramphooey

France told these people to pound salt. I’ve heard some bad news out of Germany lately, though. The far right is gaining ground and the SPD is falling hard.

      • The NSDAP did poorly in the 1928 elections, too. Thats the problem with fascism. Its such a ludicrously stupid idea that serious minded people laugh it off, until its on your doorstep.

  • billbear1961

Could they make it ANY clearer what they are?!

Fascism has no place in a genuine democracy, and ANYONE who recognizes the authority of fascists–who does not expose them for what they are and who fails to DENOUNCE them–BETRAYS this republic!

Is that clear, American “news” media? You are not “impartial’ or “unbiased” by refusing to expose and denounce them–NO, you are COMPLICIT, aiding and abetting their fucking EVIL, you goddamned BASTARDS!

    • safari

It is time to stop being nice in the press and just state it like it is.

      • billbear1961

They are pathetic COWARDS (those who aren’t actually complicit), who care only about their careers–the vast majority of them!

They don’t give a DAMN about the truth or this democracy! They don’t give a DAMN about how many will SUFFER in a banana republic! They won’t give a FUCK when CHILDREN die without healthcare! They don’t care when they’re mowed down in the schools! All they care about is that it will increase their goddamned RATINGS, the filthy DEGENERATES!

ALL they care about is what’s in it for THEM–maybe, if they’re careful, if they don’t make too many waves, they’ll be able to get a job under the coming dictatorship! They’re waiting to see who will WIN! In the meantime, they hold back, most of them, from reporting FACTS that could easily bring this coup–and the totally CORRUPT party supporting it–crashing DOWN!

They KNOW Trump is grossly UNFIT, a demented and dangerous and relentless LIAR, that a coup is underway to subvert the rule of law–they KNOW it ALL!! They KNOW the Russians have attacked this democracy, and that NOTHING has been done–by American TRAITORS, who control the federal government, thanks in large part to the Russians!–to punish them or to stop them from interfering AGAIN! They know over one HUNDRED people are working for the regime without full security clearance and that this endangers the national security! Again, they don’t CARE! They know Trump is enriching himself through his office, that the GOP are doing NOTHING to stop him! Not ONE of them calls out daily, DEMANDING his financial history be made public! They don’t CARE! They are a SINK of CORRUPTION, like every other institution in this ROTTING republic!

Well, FUCK the goddamned complicit BASTARDS!

Make a stand for the truth, for genuine democracy, for justice and simple human DECENCY, or GO ROT IN HELL!

Marion Maréchal-Le Pen is a catholic hardliner viciously opposed to marriage equality and state-funded abortion. She’s hardline anti-Muslim. She’s a fan of Jean-Marie Le Pen’s brand of free-market, free-enterprise capitalism.

It’s pretty hard to slide a cigarette paper between her and CPAC.

    • zhera

The GOP stopped hiding their true self after the ’16 Election. No need to, now they just steal everything they want. So what if they’re openly fascists, racists, bigots, thieves? The US has been destroyed from within over the last 30 or so years.

I really wonder what it’s going to take for the people to ACTUALLY rise up against them. The marches and demos so far have been well attended but they have no impact on the government.

      • MBear

They have all the control they need, apparently. Anything gained further is just icing..?

        • billbear1961

They’re not done, and people are LETTING them put the very rule of law to the vote this November, and in elections which will be every bit as COMPROMISED as they were in 2016!

It is MADNESS–a fundamentally undemocratic obscenity–this republic is rotting, from the inside OUT!

          • MBear

            *rotten

      • billbear1961

Their authority–for all the reasons I’ve listed so many times, and now NEW ones are coming more FULLY to light–is FORFEIT, Zhera.

I find it ironic and very moving that it may be CHILDREN–the gun-control kids–who will save American democracy, by perhaps SHAMING adults into the streets, to take a stand with them, to at LAST defend this democracy from the right-wing coup underway–in the media and at the highest levels of shamefully compromised government–to DESTROY it.

        • zhera

Aren’t most successful revolutions led by/started by students? They have the passion, the youthful resistance to fatigue, the willingness and ability to march and protest for hours and hours, days and night.

      • Rambie

My only point of order about your comment is that I believe the GOP stopped hiding after the 2008 election but agree with the rest.

    • David L. Caster

It’s hard to imagine it being any clearer who they are even without this invitation to a fascist. CPAC has shown its true intent for some time now and this just pulls the remaining covers off for the rest of the world to see.

      • billbear1961

I want the goddamned media to stop acting like FASCISM is nothing out of the ordinary, nothing to be alarmed about, God DAMN them, David!

        • David L. Caster

I totally agree. The problem is that they are trying too hard to appear unbiased and miss opportunities to actually inform as a result. Many of journalists don’t do much in the way of homework and the result is that they just don’t know who these people are unless the particular figure is in the news a lot. That is of course self-defeating and their duty to enlighten the public is left undone.

          • Gustav2

Both sides have their extremists, sooooo….

            *ducking*

            Yup, Russia, just like Trump!

          • billbear1961

I wonder how often it’s a case of crass ignorance or shiftlessness. There was a poster here or on Political Wire, once, who said that, compared to journalists at the best papers in Europe, most of ours are pretty dismal, second- or third-rate.

They should be made to understand that standing up for the truth is NOT a biased act (it’s the opposite of bias, and it’s their JOB), but what IS very much a biased act is covering up for liars and extremists, suppressing the truth for fear of offending LIARS and extremists, for fear they will falsely accuse you of bias for telling the truth and exposing them for what they are! (Politico has actually told its reporters not to criticize white supremacists, not to reveal that they are fundamentally undemocratic! It has basically told them to suppress the TRUTH. They call suppression of the truth being “impartial” and “unbiased” when it is a profoundly biased act!) This democracy is in CRISIS, and these “journalists” better pull themselves together and get serious about DEFENDING it.

          • David L. Caster

The erosion of journalism is like climate change: a slow moving disaster.

There are several factors that contributed to it. Chief amongst them are ratings-based news followed immediately by media consolidation. The push for corporate profits at the expense of quality work has, at least in my view, done more to erode and damage the quality and impact of national media journalism than even the loss of the Fairness Doctrine.

I often watch the evening editions of news programs on NBC, ABC, and CBS, all of which are only 30-minute programs unless something really big has happened. Generally I only have enough patience to sit through the NBC and ABC programs. Most of the time their two and often three lead stories are the same. There is little in-depth reporting on these news programs. The big stories at the beginning feature little analysis though occasionally more will be done if whatever is happening lasts through more than one 24 hour cycle. Interviews will often be thin, almost like fillers, with remarks taken from someone without much else being said about them, and follow up questions are not as frequent as they should be. Almost none of the known lies the Trumpsters tell are challenged to their faces. I have seen some almost aggressive questioning in the press briefings the WH gives, but the reporters really don’t push very hard.

And the Sunday morning programs aren’t help much either. It’s sad that the moderators don’t have a little more spunk and do their homework to learn who their guests really are and call out their douchebaggery.

Homogenized news that is almost always superficial, reporters that often don’t seem to spend time digging and preparing, the hunt for ratings at the expense of enlightenment, all these things contribute to an increasingly ignorant electorate that has been mollified into tranquility by their lack of real information and distraction by the next shiny bit of entertainment.

The infantilization and enfeeblement of America is essentially complete.

There were many good people among the 63 million who voted for Trump. The job of the Democrats in 2018 and 2020 is to show them how they will be better off if they elect Democrats. To call them names and write them off is a self defeating strategy.

When Jordan Peterson shows up on your campus, or Milo, or Patriot Prayer, everyone throws the doors open, and says, “Freedom of Speech!”. Once the Nazis get a foot in the door, they burn down your house from within.

You are under no obligation to deal with anyone in good faith who would not extend to you the same courtesy. Do not be such a sucker. Inviting, or even allowing, these people in means inviting psychopaths to join you for dinner. You never quite realize that you’re the one who’s on the menu.

Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan must be turning over in their graves. People who claim to be Conservatives have invited a leading French Fascist to address their meeting. Shame on them.

Why would Reagan turn over in his grave?

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

If Charles Manson was free and alive, they’d probably have him too.

Manson’s ultimate goal was to start a race war between blacks and whites, so he’d fit right in.

I get a small kick out of traveling with certain of my colleagues-the ones whose parents didn’t show them the world outside of their flyover state. They always try to order French fries, which are not a thing outside the us. In the Netherlands you get them with nearly every meal (sort of, they are twice cooked, finished in a wok vs just deep fried) but they still order them. The waiters have this great smirk. They have different names but it never includes French.

        • safari

          And both lead to blindness.

    • The unfortunate thing is, the electoral system only allows for two parties at any given time. This means either party can go off the rails, so long as their opposition is incompetent. For example, pre-Civil War Democrats were loathsome, however the Whigs were incompetent. Thats how James Polk was able to engage in a land grab like the War with Mexico or the mass slaughter of Native American tribes- his opponents were bumbling idiots, so people voted for Evil over Stupid.

Today, the GOP is Evil and we’re Stupid. We don’t have a coherent foreign policy other than “Russia bad. Canada good.”. We’re still fighting the 2016 primary amongst ourselves. We eat our own like Al Franken. By the way, do you know that Hollywood is a major donor to the Democratic Party? Well, they were anyway, before we started attacking our donor base. Great job, Gillibrand, now we’re gonna head into 2018 without any campaign money! But, who cares if we lose? Its more important to be right, isn’t it?

And on the other side, we’re goose stepping into global warming, police brutality, the erosion of LGBT civil rights and a woman’s right to choose. Oh yeah, and CPAC just picked a Nazi to deliver the keynote.

We’re taught since birth that this is the greatest country on Earth. Its more like a rickety wagon with a bad wheel creaking its way up a one lane mountain road, teetering the way and that, never quite sure it won’t topple over.

  • Dagoril

Of course she is going to CPAC. The GOP has become the American Nazi Party, where else would she go?

  • Clive Johnson

I think the future of American conservatism is coming into view–it’s becoming fascistic.

    I listened to this recently:
    https://soundcloud.com/publicprograms/sasha-abramsky

This reporter went around to GOP conventions in 2016 and asked open ended questions. When he asked ‘What do you think of Muslims’ he said he repeatedly heard that they should be asked to leave the country or shot.

The right appears to be increasingly walling itself off in a dark fantasy, where everyone is out to get them–feminists, secular humanists, LGBT people, professors, journalists, Silicon Valley, google, the news media, Hollywood, Muslims, liberals, imaginary communists, immigrants, and more.

And it seems to me that this follows a dangerous historical script: Ascribe to everyone else what you yourself are up to, and then resort to violence to protect yourself from the image of the enemy you’ve created for yourself.

Right-wing goons are already manufacturing bogus stories about white women getting beaten up at screenings of Black Panther. They’ve done this historically with probably every group of people they hate.

      • bzrd

the most important point, you didn’t cover. The government should not give a huge tax break to the very wealthy because proportionately they do not spend enough. The middle to lower wage earners should have had a large tax break. They are the ones who would spend most of those dollars thus creating more jobs through their demands.

        • Yes. If we’re going to preserve the capitalist system (I;d rather we didn’t, but, if we must), it only makes sense to empower those who do all the spending.

Someone who already pwns all the suits he can wear isn’t going o buy another one for a while. Someone who doesn’t yet own a suit will buy a new one. If the point of money is to keep the wheels turning, the money should go to the pone with the motive to turn the wheel.

          • Friday

Technically the point *isn’t* all about the money, ….that’s supposed to be the medium of *exchange,* …progress also involves working in some actual practical value-added for the people and the future, ie, maturing technology into something sustainable, having people able to work for more than just paying the bills on expendables and other survival needs, building arts and sciences and education to make all this running around earning money and making stuff *count* for something. Not to mention be worth living in.

This can be done by…. our economy, industry, and government, making and allowing people to buy and build things of *lasting* value. When capitalism starts to mean nothing but what the market will bear about someone buying the *next* suit or the next utility payment, then it’s on the way to becoming something else.

          • Indeed. The major problem I have with capitalism is that it doesn’t address needs, only desires. Corporate interests can create desire through marketing. Thus, we see the myth about capitalism responding to consumer need revealed for the fraud that it is.

          • Friday

That really depends on what capitalism is set up and regulated to *do,* of course. It works fine alongside ‘scandanavian socialism’ and New Deal type policies, but if the rules are rewriten to give advantage to those who take the most *profits* regardless of the value they do or do not produce, then it obviously gets out of hand.

One thing that unfettered corporatists don’t get is that the way to avoid those ‘communist’ revolutions they always fear is…. Don’t screw the workers over.

      • Makoto

Hey, at least you admit it. Man, it’s refreshing to see a fake Bernie supporter say they’re just here to cause turmoil.

Also, “The “solution” to that problem is often Final.”? Did that sound better in the original German?

        • I don’t know. I don’t speak German. However, the meaning remains the same. Fascism is just the ultimate expression of capitalism. The state serves the role of maintaining corporate entities, and does their dirty work.

In Germany, corporate interests like IG Farben used Jewish prisoners as slave labor. When those slaves were no longer productive, Hitler murdered them en masse so neither the state or the corp[oration would have to feed or house them.

Capitalism leads to that if you deregulate it to an extreme.

Maybe, rather than looking for ways to get a dig in on me, you should look at yourself, and the system you support. You’re not Hitlerites, not now, at any rate. But if you let the corporate powers go unchecked, you might one day find that you’ve become them.

We did the same thing, too in this country. We enslaved Blacks. When American Indians got in the way of profit, we murdered them and stole their land to use for agricultural production and resource extraction. That solution was also Final. And it wasn’t in German- it was in American English.

          • Makoto

Aw, fake Bernie bro / admitted troll thinks I’m going to bother reading more. But hey, I know what the block feature in Disqus is for…

          • Great 🙂

          • Friday

That’s why capitalism needs to be *regulated* and corporatism kept in *check.* Helping oligarchs like Putin, who got where he is cause authoritarian Communism puts the same kinds of scumbags in charge as fascism does, (Then of course turns into what… right-wing corporate fascism once you’ve got a de facto aristocracy) to monkeywrench free Republics just when those corporations and oligarchs control too much as it *is* does not serve freedom or economic justice: it just breaks things.

          • Well, Putin is not a Communist. He is certainly authoritarian, that much is definitely true.

Putin is a soulless opportunist who will support any economic structure that can be manipulated to bring him power. He really doesn’t believe in anything or anyone other than himself. If he thought that raping his own mother on national television would guarantee him the Presidency for life, he would do it.

To call him a Communist misses the point. Putin was never Communist. Putin was never anything. All Putin has ever been about is perpetuating his own hold on power.

          • Friday

I didn’t call him a Communist, in fact he’s the richest man in Russia by all accounts, he just uses a lot of the old KGB apparatus for his authoritarianism and all that looting of the country by oligarchs.

          • Yep.

The thing about Communism is, it is at its heart a critique of capitalism. Nobody understands how capitalism works better than people who have studied communism. The book at the heart of communism, The Capital, is nothing more than an exploration of the economic structures of capitalism.

Thus, it isn’t surprising that the people who play the capitalism game best are from the former Soviet Union. While we in the US wasted our time on The Road to Serfdom and the works of Ayn Rand, self-congratulatory circle jerks for those born into wealth who just take it for granted that money will always be there, the Soviets grew up reading about the mechanisms of capital and investment from the time they could do their ABCs.

And today’s Russia uses a particularly savage form of capitalism. Walk one block in either direction off Nevsky Prospect and you’ll see devastating poverty. Grozny is a bombed out hellhole. Sure, Moscow is the land of the New Russians, but huge swathes of Siberia have no electricity or running water, In America, most of the violence is between the very poor. In Russia, the oligarchs send assassins out to hit one another in the streets. The Duma has one party (United Russia) which has no ideology other than keeping Putin in power, and three others that are basically jokes, “alternatives” you can vote for, but nobody takes seriously as their leaders are either deranged or openly sycophantically pro-Putin. Any party that tries to actually criticize Putin or imply that he sucks gets the Garry Kasparov treatment.

New tax tables went into effect February 15th.
I have a feeling that workers in the Payroll Departments have a mixed opinion on the new system.

    • I am not sure I buy a 14% jump in two months. I need to see other polls to corroborate this, and need to see how the public is going to react come June when Social Security and Medicare plans are made known. 5% I would buy. Not 14%.

      • DaddyRay

It isn’t surprising to me. They are riding the high of extra money. My company gave every US employee a 1,000 bonus and personally my paycheck went up $171 every two weeks.

That high is going to wear off when the cuts to Medicare and programs that impact family members and the realization of the debt growing rapidly. Also if they do pass Trump’s .25 cents per gallon tax hike you will be seeing some pretty angry voters. Dems need to tie all of these cuts to the social safety net and any increase in daily costs like a gas tax hike directly to the GOP and the massive cuts for corporations and the wealthy.

Until that time it is going to be difficult to get the average voter to complain about what they see as extra money in their pocket.

      • Lars Littlefield

Both my father and his cousin fought in WWII. My dad was in the Navy in the Pacific and his cousin was in the Army in Europe. James (the cousin) was an unreconstructed Tennessee bigot. I never heard him say anything about black people (my dad would have called him on it) but I remember him going on a rant about homa-seg-shuls once, “smilin’ up at you,” and my brother and I (both gay) meeting each other’s eyes and rolling them, not least at the idea that anyone was smilin’ up at James, then in his 80s.

The only time I saw James cry was when he started talking to my dad about the time his platoon liberated a concentration camp and the things he saw, and he cried like a baby. He hated Nazis with with a passion, even 40 years later.

      What happened 54 hours ago?

  • The French prove that the rise of fascism this time really is global. they aren’t the only ones, but they are the most important, other than the US imho. French people should have no reason to embrace fascism again, but fascism lives because well, i hate to say it, because white people can’t let go of racism. it’s in their hearts, just a little bit at least, all the time. the good ones fight it, and are our friends. the weak ones ignore it, except when it provides them a personal benefit. the evil ones embrace it, because the last generation to experience what fascism really means are mostly dead. these are youngsters (relatively speaking) who are deathly afraid of competing with the “New Jews,” that is, the Muslim world. which itself is rapidly realizing that they don’t have to be slaves to the West.

i would never defend Muslim extremism as a form of social or political organization; i do understand why it’s happening. have you been to the equitorial regions of this world lately? seen what +40yrs of unending bombing and invasion have done to not only oil-rich nations, but so many others suffering from Western meddling and interference? there are a lot of angry people there, and they are no more stupid than people in the West. they have computers and cell phones too, and the internet. that is changing so much, so rapidly.

Fascists like Le Pen are keying on a very real fear of very real coming change. do not underestimate their potential for power. add to that an insecure, short, cunning but not so bright billionaire with dreams of being the next Napoleon, and you get where we are.

i am not at all looking forward to the coming global war between corporate/theocratic fascists and theocratic/post-colonials. i credit several of my undergrad poli-sci folks at the RC for teaching me that today was a distinct possibility, way back in the 80s.

Over the last year the Republican Party aside from its usual role as loyal servants of the upper 2%, has finally realized its destiny to stepped out in the open to say the white supremacists are nice people, go out of the way to protect their wife beaters and sexual assaulters, fully embrace their inner bigot, and now (we always knew it was there in their souls ) spotlight the French Fascists at CPAC to speak right behind Mike Pence.

    • greenmanTN

If. You’ve never seen it, check out The Palm Beach Story with Claudette Colbert, Joel McCrea, and Mary Astor. “Nitz, Toto, nitz!”

Also excellent is Midnight with Colbert, John Barrymore, and Astor, directed by Mitchell Leisen. Astor’s best friend is a clearly gay man (Leisen was a former clothing designer, married but gay) not a lot of “coding” to hide it, and it’s delighful.

Colbert, pretending to talk on the phone to her mother about her imaginary daughter: “Is Francie OK?”

Barrymore on the phone, pretending to be her mother: “We found her passed out in the gutter, dear, drunk on gin.”

Colbert, giggling: “How darling! She loves it so!”

    • sadoldguy

I agree that the media is not performing its role of informing the public.
I understand why the “for profit” media doesn’t stand up to this crap, what has me worried is that most of the ‘nonprofit’ media goes out of their way not to call these despicables out.

      • billbear1961

I hate them–they are truly EVIL sellouts and cowards. They’ve got to be CALLED out, relentlessly, and boycotted if they continue to refuse to do their JOBS.

I wonder very much if what it means is that they believe the gangster oligarchs are going to get the banana republic they want, and they are stepping back, out of the way of their lackeys, hoping for a place, employment, in the dictatorship they believe is coming. Witness, too, how unafraid the GOP is, all the scoundrels on the right.

I think, from watching the media and the Democratic party and the public closely, for a very long time, the right is convinced that, when push comes to shove, we won’t fight. I understand why they think that–I’m afraid they may well be right.

If we DO fight–by which I mean peacefully protest, relentlessly, in massive numbers–they may imprison and/or murder God KNOWS how many. They will use agents provocateurs they’ll plant among us as an excuse to use violence. You’ve SEEN how Trump lies BRAZENLY about EVERYTHING.

If these TRAITORS–who have done nothing to punish a hostile foreign power for attacking us or to stop them from continuing to attack us–continue to move this country towards fascism, by subverting the rule of law, and if they use violence against protesters, every possible means of SABOTAGE should be used against them, to wrest control from them and to RESTORE the REPUBLIC.

        • sadoldguy

I think it is mostly profit driven, not ideology driven.
It is possible there will be a ‘fight’, unfortunately violent.
I think the encouragement the trump fans are being given to stay loyal is leading to violence.
The assumption that liberals will peacefully accept this is flawed.

        • Rambie

Nice thing about an adult cat (which I always adopt too) is their personality is already formed. With the kitten you never quite know.

If you want a lap cat who’ll sit next (or on) you or a high energy cat who loves to play with toys, you can find one.

        • Silly Worstcultever. All cats are tops, and all cat owners are bottoms.

      • Ninja0980

My great aunt just adopted a dog that is six and a half (beagle mix.)
She’s in her late 70’s so she figured she couldn’t handle a puppy but she wants some company after her husband passed away and she figured (and we all agree) that Sammy will be a great companion for her.
And so far, we’ve all be proven right.
Sammy likes her walks but won’t chew everything up and is content running in the backyard, which works great with my aunt on the days she can’t do walks.

    • bkmn

        Yup.

    • DaddyRay

      Aww that is so wonderful

    • greenmanTN

Good for you. Adult cats are usually pretty chill and they appreciate a loving home and show it. Kittens have tons of excess energy and go crazy about twice a day- I swear I’ve seen my kittens run around the walls, held there only by centrifugal force. Breakage ensued. 😒

    • I once adopted two older Russian Blues in San Francisco – the SPCA will never put an animal down who does not need to be there. They were 11 years old and from the same litter, their owner had died. The male lived about 3 years but his sister lived about 8 more years and was such a great kitty. I have never had as appreciative and wonderful cats. Cats will sense your kindness.

    • Snarkaholic

      That’s so commendable!
If there are no senior cats at the shelter, another lovely gesture would be to ask for the kitty who’s been there the longest.

  • Marion Le Pen and her aunt, Marie Le Pen actually do not exactly like each other.
    —-
Marie Le Pen is trying to go “mainstream” — and has actually said nice things about Jews and “homosexuals” (note – I am deliberately NOT using the word gay because I do not know the insult for gay people in francaise which I am sure she uses under her breath) in the hopes that they would vote for her out of fear of radical islam (the enemy of my enemy is my friend). It did not work in the last French Presidential election. Both groups voted for Macron, along with the muslim vote (obviously).
Marie Le Pen also evicted her father Jean-Marie from the party because he is such an embarrassment and cannot keep from saying nasty neo-Nazi things about Jews mostly. He most recently made a cute remark about Jews using a pun on words implying that they will baked in an oven batch in 2014.

My father was born in 1938, and when he was growing up used to watch short cartoons about the Nazis before each main feature film. The Dove of Peace finally standing up and kicking ass was my favorite part.

The movies got into it too. The original “To Be Or Not To Be” with Carole Lombard and Jack Benny is hilarious, and carries a very strong anti-Nazi message. In the original a Jewish character delivers Shakespeare’s “If you prick us, do we not bleed?” speech from Merchant of Venice. In the Mel Brooks remake, a gay character gives it.

The Great Dictator by Charlie Chaplin is another great anti-Nazi movie, with IMO one of the most beautiful but horrible moments in film, Adenoid Hynkel (Adolf Hitler) imagining world domination.

      https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IJOuoyoMhj8

There were many other anti-Nazi themed films. Many German immigrants, some Jewish, some not, were in the film industry and brought their hatred of the Nazis into American movies with them.

      • BeaverTales

        That was funny 🙂

I think Hollywood came to its senses a bit too late. Unfortunately history has a tendency to repeat itself, and there is still sometimes a tendency to have sympathetic portrayals of people with anti-American agendas…

There were celebrated racists who made movies the 2 decades prior to WW2, like DW Griffiths and David Selznick, and their revised versions of history were very popular with American audiences, spreading divisive racial propaganda and panic that had to be clawed back during WW2.

I’m going to try to contact the Russian group to see if there’s anything that can be done from here in the States.

Mr. Ric. Please keep us informed of what you learn, need and don’t lose the spirit and fight. I say nay to the nay sayers, some here at this site. I find it too dificult to look away. The discussion was here some time ago to help, but the current administration makes it impossible for citizens to help our people to freedom. Thank you for your attention to this horror. Another struggle, another front to be supportive of. Thank you for your comments.

Is laPierre still scheduled, I wonder? Or has he been disinvited?

    • Friday

I assume so, CPAC was promoting his froth about attacking the victims of the shootings.

In what even remotely sane world, I just can’t , I just can’t.

Looks like Jr. on the left, there. And David’s having none of it. Stay strong David. We’re with you. Generations United.

Or the teen is an articulate boy who is torn up over having 17 dead and more wounded at his school? That’d be enough to get me to speak out.

  • “… French fascist Marion Le Pen will speak from the main stage immediately after Mike Pence.”

I remember when “We’re racist, fascist, authoritarian a-holes” was merely **subtext** at CPAC. Now it’s the bloody text.

  • Kevin Andrews

The good news is that the CPAC crowd is being honest about their Fascism.

  • RJ Bone

They’re not even shy about being evil, are they?

This is yet another low. It’s a Le Pen for fucks sake – just put the fucking Nazi arm bands on already and stop pretending.

  • The_Wretched

Is there any pretense left that the conservative christians are anything but right wing fascists?

  • TheManicMechanic

C’mon, building-vaporizing asteroid, Daddy needs a brand new fascist-free government!
