KENTUCKY: Right Wing Former Judge Sentenced To 20 Years On Sex Charges, Campaigned Locally For Trump

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports:

Former Judge Tim Nolan on Friday agreed to spend 20 years in prison for human trafficking. He used drugs, threats of arrest and threats of eviction to force women and girls under the age of 18 into sex acts, according to the charges read in court by Judge Kathleen Lape.

Nolan pleaded guilty to 21 counts dating back to 2004. In addition to human trafficking and attempted human trafficking, the charges included giving drugs and alcohol to minors. Under the plea agreement, Nolan will serve 20 years in prison and pay a $100,000 fine. The judge will sentence him on March 29.

The case has shocked the region. Nolan served as a district judge in the late 1970s and early 1980s and had become a well-known political figure. He campaigned locally for President Donald Trump, was vocal on many conservative/tea party issues, and was elected to the Campbell County School Board in 2016.

The Inquisitr reports:

The 71-year-old Nolan was quiet through the sentencing phase of the trial, the report noted, thanking his attorneys and the judge as well as a doctor who he said: “made me realize things.”

As Nolan pleaded guilty to the various charges, the court offered some short details of many of the instances of abuse. In some cases, Nolan paid painkillers and heroin in exchange for sex. At least one victim lived on Nolan’s property, and he used threats of eviction to get the victim to perform sex acts on him.

A local GOP official has denied that Nolan was the official Trump campaign chair for Kentucky’s Campbell County, describing him merely as an “enthusiastic volunteer.”

  • Boreal

I’m sure there were good people on both sides of this case.

    • Bambino

Good for the bone spur cadet and good for the criminals. See? Both sides.

  • That_Looks_Delicious

Sounds like standard, run-of-the-mill GOP. I guess the one unusual feature is he admitted to the 21 counts instead of making the state go through the expense of the trial.

Cue Drumpf tweeting, “What ever happened to due process?”

  • glass

More corruption in the GOP crime syndicate? SHOCKING!

    • Nic Peterson

      GOP family values on display.

    • David Walker

Yes, but he was just an enthusiastic volunteer. Gee. That’s original, guys.

      • perversatile

“He fetched coffee with an overweening alacrity”

        • David Walker

          Love it.

  • Devon Rodriguez

Kentucky Judge Tim Nolan is a predator who used his power and the courts to hide his crimes.

This is how this predator got away with his abuse and crimes for so long. The problem is why did government wait so long to act and allow so many victims to be abused?

    • Puck

Because this is what it means to be Republican. You fly a flag of conservatism and lure christians with a promise of restoring god. You lie and cheat and do whatever you need to to stay in power. Doesn’t matter what happens to people along the way. All it matters is Power and Control.

    • JaniceInToronto

How many retrials will this cause? Should be a bunch.

      • Hank

That is presuming, that there are decent enough lawyers, interested in looking into his cases and looking to give JUSTICE to his Victims

        • D. J.

Mat Staver will show up…just so he can parade Kim Davis around.

      • e jerry powell

Depends on the circumstances as to whether he can reserve the right to appeal upon pleading guilty.

    • Todd20036

Wait, he fund raised for Trump? SO is Trump going to return the money?

  • Tom Furgas

He “agreed” to spend 20 years in prison? He had a choice?

    • Devon Rodriguez

I know what you mean…because that is what stuck out in my mind as well…oh I am a disgraced judge and vile human being but I will “agree” to go to prison…

      • Tom Furgas

Judging from your profile photo I wouldn’t mind if you stick out in my mind, ifyouknowwhatimean. ;^)

    • gaycuckhubby

I’m assuming they meant he made a plea deal.

    • fastlanestranger

I guess not committing suicide means “agreed”. Hopefully he’ll disagree soon.

    • JCF

Well, he chose to plead guilty, knowing he’d get this sentence. So, yeah.

    • McSwagg

Considering that many of his victims were younger than 18, he’ll be lucky to survive 2 years in general population.

  • Robincho

Yet another sterling example of a dump supporter…

    • bzrd

      that’s why they’re called republikkkunts

  • Kruhn

What was that about gay folk getting married leading to pedophilia? Why is it that the biggest bigots are the ones that get caught doing exactly what they condemn? That creep in Utah led the fight to tighten prostitution laws gets caught using a hooker with state funds. Now this creep. Hypocrisy much?

    • Tom Furgas

      The guilty dog barks loudest.

    • Bambino

They just need someone to assume their criminal responsibility. It’s a reverse charity. They offend in the name of the gays.

  • Bambino

If one does not have a criminal element in his or her resume, they are not qualify to work for the GOP. Tick off the boxes of molestation, sexual assaults, abuses, money scamming, money laundering to plump up your resume folks if you want to have a future in the party of evil. If you have to add lying on it, you are out of your depth. It’s fundamental.

    • Joe in PA

      Thanks Obama. Sigh.

Did you see…the lovely Judge Jeanine actually blame Obama for the whole Rob Porter kerfuffle. 🙁

(Don’t watch the vid…it will make you sick)

      • Ragnar Lothbrok

I saw that she was trending and made the mistake of looking to see why.
        Horrid bitch.

      • Chucktech

Doncha just love the soothing, mellifluous tones of her nails-on-a-chalkboard voice?

      • bzrd

I can hear it now, “Obama made me hit my first wife so she left me. I can’t believe it, Obama made me hit my second wife, too”

  • Harveyrabbit

So just another day in tRumpland.

  • worstcultever

For every one of these fucks they catch, there’s probably at least a few dozen they don’t.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

It’s in the thousands, at least.

  • Friday’s_cat

Nothing out of the ordinary for republicans, move along.

  • TheGrandWazoo2

I can’t decide if I’m happy or sad, due to his age, that he will most likely die before serving out every miserable day of his sentence.

  • gaycuckhubby

There was a case about a month ago, with a republican who was caught in similar circumstances with a underage male. Lots of people said that a straight person wouldn’t be prosecuted for the same crime. I’m glad to see in this case that’s not true.

    • canoebum

This creep’s crimes were much more severe. The other guy paid a 17-year old hustler for sex. This guy used his position of power to coerce sex from unwilling victims.

      • gaycuckhubby

The guy you’re referring to also tried to organize gangbangs with people much younger than 17.
        And had child porn.

    • BobSF_94117

Similar circumstances? What do you think was similar?

  • Charlotte Spak

GOP: We didn’t know him. He was just a coffee boy.
Republicans are either extreme homophobe closet cases, child molesters, or crazed sex perverts.
However, they are all fabulous super Christians.
    Praise jeebus. 🤔

    • Dazzer

From the number of coffee boys they have in their organisation, you can only draw the conclusion that they have a severe caffeine addiction.

  • GayOldLady

This lousy SOB will never get the punishment he deserves and you’ll never convince me that people around him didn’t know he was a monster. At least he’ll never be a free man again. I hope he meets up with some of the more vicious criminals he’s sentenced to prison. Rest in pieces you disgusting waste of protoplasm.

    • McSwagg

I’ve heard that child molesters don’t live long in prison.

      • GayOldLady

        That’s a comforting thought

  • Mark Abbott

    Just don’t call him deplorable.

    • bzrd

      pond scum?

  • Acronym Jim

“He campaigned locally for President Donald Trump, was vocal on many conservative/tea party issues, and was elected to the Campbell County School Board in 2016.

Sick, just sick. I wonder how many students were victims?

      • IamSmartypants

Tom Foley was the D-Washington who served as Speaker of the House defeated for reelection in 1994, then honorably served as ambassador to Japan. It was Mark Foley, R-Florida, who resigned after creeping on House pages. Mark made the news again last week for continuing to use his millions in leftover campaign funds to underwrite a lavish lifestyle a dozen years after leaving office in shame

        • LeeCMH

          Thanks for the correction.

  • In case anyone is wondering, the fact I share a last name with this individual — there’s no relationship. He seems to be much more closely related to fellow ex-judge, Roy Moore.

    Carry on…

    • GayOldLady

We would never associate you with this piece of garbage. Just a sad coincidence!

      • Well, every time I am around a wonderful GayOldLady, I do think of you 🙂 By the way, we have a relatively new organization in Seattle–Generations Ageing with Pride (GAP) for Queer Seniors. One of the co-chairs is a professor at the UW School of Social work, and she’s been studying LGBTQ seniors for years. She’s managed to get 3 different grants from different scourges, and I’ve been involved since November, doing trainings for the state Department of Social and Health Services on improving services to Queer Seniors. Our state recently passed legislation to require state licensed nursing homes to allow residents to get jiggy with the person (persons? I’ll have to check the details) of their choice.

        • GayOldLady

Glad to know that Ty. I know the seniors you’ll engage with will appreciate your help and the services provided from those you train. LGBT seniors are often overlooked and we need people like you in our corner. Thank you!

          • I appreciate that–Queer seniors are often invisible, and sadly, many of the more frail who are life-dependent on caretakers are being forced back into the closet because so often the caretakers are low-paid, poorly educated individuals who may carry a lot of religious homophobic attitudes. The seniors are in the space of “do I be out and proud, or do I hide who I really am so I don’t die of neglect?” Added on to that are the ever growing number of seniors in places like Seattle–one of the fast growing American cities with the resultant spike in housing costs. Seniors on fixed incomes are being driven out of their old homes, and too often, out of the historically gay neighborhood. I’m on the Capitol Hill Housing Advisory Board, and we’re overseeing the construction of a LGBTQ Seniors Low-Cost Housing project, but that will only provide 72 units, which is just a drop in the proveribal bucket.

          • GayOldLady

Well thank you for what you’re doing. Whatever you can accomplish will help.

    • Stephen Miller

      I know how you feel.

    • ChrisMorley

Nolan is a sound Irish name meaning noble, renowned.
No risk of confusion outside Ma Nolan’s bar

      • Cheers! (where everyone knows your name?)

  • Hank

I am sure he believed in “Family Values” as well!!!

Let us hear how ANY Rethuglican describe how “Family Values” fits in with Human Trafficking!!!!

“Human trafficking” appears to be the new tag-on charge for sex crimes.

  • Nic Peterson

‘Enthusiastic volunteer’, sounds like he was a bit more than a covfefe boy to me.

  • JWC

Hmmm another GOP type showing his inner charm

  • dcurlee

Campaigned for Trump not surprising. Wonder if he hooked up Trump with women. That whole bunch are fucking disgusting

Hey I have a question about Kentucky. Do Kentucky natives pronounce the name of their state capital city “Loo-ee-ville”, or “Loo-uh-ville”, or “Loo-ville”, or “Lou-uh-voll”, or some other way?

  • Ben in Oakland

Was he a family values Republican? That’s what is really important.

  • Marides48

71+20=91. Not quite a death sentence but close enough. He’s the same age as tRump. Lock them up!

  • Donna in Texas

He could have gotten up to a 100 years but he agreed to 20, but the kicker is he can be paroled after only 4 years. He got the white man deal.

    • McSwagg

He assaulted children. He’ll be lucky to survive two years in general population.
