The AP reports:
The morning after defending a former aide who is accused of abusing his ex-wives, President Donald Trump lamented that lives are being “shattered” by a “mere allegation.” The president’s Saturday morning tweet came after wished Rob Porter well in his future endeavors without any mention of the two ex-wives who have accused Porter of physical and emotional abuse.
Trump’s comments on Friday set off a firestorm at a time of national conversation about the mistreatment of women. And they came amid rampant White House finger-pointing about who knew what, and when, about the severity of the spousal abuse allegations. Trump said Porter, who resigned when the abuse allegations became public this week, had “worked hard” at the White House and wished him well.
Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?
