Steve Wynn Resigns As CEO Of Casino Empire

CNBC reports:

Steve Wynn has resigned as CEO and chairman of Wynn Resorts, the company announced Tuesday. The move comes after a Wall Street Journal report published in January detailed allegations of decades of sexual misconduct by the gambling mogul.

The allegations in the report detailed accounts from dozens of current and former employees that would amount to “a decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct,” as well as a $7.5 million financial settlement paid to a manicurist who alleged she was pressured into having sex with Wynn.

In January, Wynn stepped down from his post as the Republican National Committee’s finance chief. The billionaire, a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump, presided over a record-setting cash haul for the RNC. The group is projected to have raised more than $130 million in 2017.

The RNC has still not returned his money.

“a decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct,”

Seems to be a mild, lawyerly description of his actions.

    • ClevelandJim

seems to remind me HUUUUGELY of someone…

      • Gustav2

        That’s treason!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!

        • ClevelandJim

oh FUCK, I forgot to add *clapping* there, didn’t I?

          • Jefe5084

The Secret Service will be contacting you shortly to schedule your required execution.

      • Gustav2

BTW how’s the weather in Cleveland?

It is a bad snow day in Columbus when they make our crappy municipal bus system free to keep people out of their cars. We are getting ice on top of a few inches of snow.

        • Joe in PA

almost exactly same weather here NW of Philly. I wish it would just snow. 🙁

        • ClevelandJim

Snowing again, but it’s the finer flake variety! (We had big fat flake variety yesterday.) I think it’s been coming down most of the night, but looks like only a couple inches added so far. I’m wrapping a up run with the flu, so I called off again today, so don’t have to deal with the weather advisory they issued for rush hour, whew! Is your snow really bad, or is it Southern Weather Hysteria? 😉

          • Gustav2

Peeps are texting the hubby (who took a vaca day as did his boss) that it is taking more than twice the time to get to work in downtown Columbus. Schools are closed and it is still snowing.

          • ClevelandJim

OMG, how much did you guys GET (or is it the ice)? I remember the outerbelt being kinda zany (northeast side) when I lived in Cols. Then I got smart and moved to Victorian Village when my company moved office to downtown–made the drive MUCH easier!

          • Gustav2

Hubby’s boss lives outside of Circleville, she is usually the first one in the office despite the weather. She was not going to do it today.

Hubby’s commute is mostly Main Street, we live in Whitehall.

        • Ginger Snap

That sounds like the storm we are expecting in NH later this morning until tomorrow.

          • Gustav2

It is our gift to you!

          • Ginger Snap

Thank you Gustav2 I love snow, Big Kisses.

        • Jefe5084
  • Joe in PA

Well good, get out that check writing pen RNC.

    Bwahahahaha…as if.

  • Mike Solo

I’m noticing a pattern in sexual misconduct and hues of “tan”

    • Joe in PA

It’s all good…as long as that tan isn’t on a suit.

      • Jefe5084

AND the suit is not on Barack Obama, apparently.

    • Todd20036

There would be more outrage if say, Mr. Steele were the perp

    • CanuckDon

Tanning and continual attempts at looking younger giving them that shallow boost of confidence as the perpetual lady-killer they’ve always thought themselves to be.

      • Gustav2

They look in the mirror and see George Hamilton?

        • Ginger Snap

  • Boreal

So when will the RNC return the money?

  • Boreal
  • netxtown

Maybe he will do the right thing. Steve Looz outta do it.

  • AW

The husband has to go to a conference at the Wynn in March. Now he can feel just a bit better about going! Small victories.

  • jeffg166

    Lock him up.

  • kareemachan

And how much of that $130m was from russia?

  • boatboy_srq

So this is what Terry Benedict was like when the cameras weren’t overhead.

  • Lars Littlefield

It’s just as well. Wynn is as feeble as Sheldon Adelson, except Wynn is still ambulatory.

    • stevenj

They both look like escapees from Madame Tussaud’s.

      • JCF

You KNOW they’re both funding mad scientists screaming “Make Me IMMORTAL!!!”

        • BigGuy

They both have fathers who destroyed themselves from compulsive gambling. Their dads gave them knowledge, but no money at all. Neither ever really gambles, except for sometimes personally guaranteeing tens of millions of dollars in loans to their companies.

Steve Wynn’s been legally blind for over 20 years. That’s how he ended up putting his arm through an expensive painting he bought.

It’s worthwhile to listen to their conference calls, even their old conference calls. You will learn how to motivate a work force of 1000’s. They don’t do it with sticks. They do it with a few carrots, but not that much.

If neither punishment for failure nor big financial rewards for success make that big a difference, how do they get people to do the work? They both do 2 big things that most big corporations do not manage to do:

1 They say “Thank you” and express gratitude to people working for them, high and low, every day. When they are in the wrong, they personally apologize. Whatever Steve Wynn may have done begging for sex from women in his employ, when he has been in the wrong about an employee, he apologizes to the person in person on the spot.

2 When employees do the right thing, they are given recognition, The employees are featured on videos shown in the employee cafeteria and written up in corporate newsletters. Employees get pins and clothing and prizes, but they really like having the billionaire CEO knowing who they are. They like being introduced to resort guests by the CEO saying this is a person who “really makes a difference”.

One other thing they do that is extremely rare among all CEO’s is that even though both have huge egos and are very smart about their business, they do not ascribe their success to their own hard work — they say they were lucky.

  • JWC

Will the RNC return that 130 million??

  • Pip

So, where are the Republicans that were flocking to the media screaming for Dems to return donations from HW? Why aren’t they screaming for the RNC to do the same?

  • Ninja0980

He can get some more plastic surgery to make himself feel better.

  • JCF

This story ALMOST came out 20 years ago…but was suppressed.
