Gun Owners Group: The Liberal Media Encourages Mass Shootings In Schools In Order To Achieve Gun Control

Over the weekend Gun Owners Of America executive director Larry Pratt hosted his group’s spokesman, Michael Hammond, on his internet radio show, where Hammond said this:

You know, when I was growing up, the kids carried guns to schools, including semi-autos, and no one really thought anything of it. What you have now is you have gun free school zones, all of the sudden you have these school shootings and you have a liberal media that tries to turn these shooters into heroes. It lionizes them, it publishes their diaries, it puts their pictures on the front of the New York Times.

And as a result of that, guess what, there are lots of 18 year-old kids out there sitting in their basement in front of their computer with no girlfriend. And there are a lot of people who are looking at the attention given to all those other shooters by the liberal media saying, “I want some of that. I want my picture on the front of the New York Times.”

As a result you have now a series of media-generated copycat shootings, which I’m afraid are not going to stop until one of two things happens: an armed citizenry rises up against these people and stops them or, alternatively, the media becomes so bored with this topic it stops trying to encourage copycat shootings in order to achieve gun control.

RELATED: In June 2016, Larry Pratt declared that if Democrats were to win to the White House, his group might have to resort to the “bullet box.” In 2013, Pratt was one of the headliners at crackpot lawyer Larry Klayman’s rally to overthrow the Obama administration.

Dementia is apparently a requirement to join the NRA.

    • Harley

      And Russian citizenship.

    • Gun Owners of America think the NRA is soft and too compromising, they are really out there. They are more in the Alex Jones paranoid conspiracy crowd. They are really paranoid, and have been trying to make a name for themselves for over 27 years or so, with Larry Pratt as their head. They are bigger organization than Bill O’Donahue and his phone and his business card “The Catholic League”, but not by much

      • 🐾vorpal🐾

The last thing we need is a bunch of Alex Jones supporters jacked up on lead (the secret ingredient in his supplements) and carrying guns around. What could possibly go wrong?

        • Don’t know lets lock them all in a room with free alcohol and find out?

          • 🐾vorpal🐾

Be sure that you make them feel at home by serving a nice vintage of toilet wine with those red plastic disposable cups.

That stuff in the boxes that you drink out of a glass is for rich, uppity, hoity-toity libcuckturds.

          • Bad Tom

            Make those thick, thick walls.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

Just admit that you’re addicted to fantasizing about your metal penis and it’s the only thing that makes you feel manly!

    • ClevelandJim

well, at least the metal one shoots…something

  • Gustav2

“You know, when I was growing up, the kids carried guns to schools, including semi-autos, and no one really thought anything of it.”

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

God, the insanity of how much and how far they lie!

    • Harley

That is total BS because when he went to school they only had flint locks.

    • Smokey
      • orion dumptee

ha ha ha “Spank” McFarland and Dickie Moore…probably from the Hal Roach days …perfect!!

    • netxtown

back when he went to school, the principal was allowed to whip your ass and good. so maybe we should bring back those attitude correction ass-pummelings as well?

      • Uncle Mark

His principal would be able to whip his ass for such bald-face lying. Time to beat this guy’s ass again

      • kaydenpat

Some conservatives would say yes to that. Corporal punishment is still a thing for certain Evangelicals.

    • Bob Conti
    • DaveMiller135

That’s just not true. Anyone who ever brought a gun to a school would be regarded forever as a dangerous freak. That’s not something new.

If anyone is enabling school shootings, it’s rabid gun owners who support unregistered, unlicensed guns, especially in the face of gun violence.

      • Todd20036

Oh you and your facts and logic.

      • kaydenpat

He acts as if folk can’t tell from their own experiences that he’s straight up lying.

      • Bad Tom

They would have been arrested back in the 1950s just as quickly as they would have been today.

It would have been MORE of a shock, because it just didn’t happen.

      • Octoberfurst

I’m almost 60 and I don’t recall teachers being cool with kids bringing guns into school. In fact, if you got caught with one they would, at the very least, confiscate your gun and expel you from school for awhile. At worst they would call the cops and have you arrested. So I am calling bullshit on his claim.
And I am also calling bullshit on his claim that the “liberal media” lionizes the shooters and makes them into heroes. When has that ever happened except in his twisted mind?

    • Rex

The treat of bears was very real.
On a side note, I truly believe he lost all of his marbles in elementary school.

      • Smokey

        Yes, some bears are a treat! Others are a threat… ; )

        • Rex

    • zhera

And they carried those guns uphill, both ways. In the snow. Barefoot. On an empty stomach, because nobody could afford food after buying all these guns.

      • Gustav2

Now, now, sometimes they used plastic bread bags on their feet.

        • Bad Tom

          You had plastic bags?!?

We had to tie coal on our feet with twine we made ourselves.
And we had to dig the coal ourselves too, with our bare hands. In the snow.

Kids today have it so easy.

        • Octoberfurst

And they were grateful to have them!

    • BlueberriesForMe

Nostalgic for a world that never was. He’s hoping that in his lifetime, this will be a reality (i.e. everyone carries a gun everywhere, perhaps an AK47 for evening wear, a basic Glock .45 for going to the local coffee shop).

  • another_steve

It’s 9 a.m. where I live and already the JMG crazy has begun.

I trust there’ll be an ample number of puppy and kitten posts here on JMG today. We’ll need them.

  • You know, when I was growing up, the kids carried guns to schools, including semi-autos, and no one really thought anything of it.

Of course. And it looked something like this, right?

All seriousness aside, notice how he accuses the media of contributing to school shootings while simultaneously promoting violence against media outlets. Of course, if/when something does happen, he won’t take any responsibility for this idiotic, incendiary rhetoric.

  • Boreal

“You know, when I was growing up, the kids carried guns to schools, including semi-autos, and no one really thought anything of it.

This is a lie. No one brought guns to school when the crypt keeper was growing up.

    • The first part is a lie too. This guy clearly never grew up.

  • Duh-David

How does one confuse school shootings with the Tide pod challenge?

    • clay

One has to work at it.

  • Rex

When Mom put a banana in my lunch instead of my handgun I would get so pissed.

  • ClevelandJim

“When I was growing up the kids carried guns to school”? Was that the 1850s? How old IS this guy?

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

I read in the pioneer days, the teacher had weapons to fend off unruly asshole students. Those weren’t the good old days.

    • Gustav2

Born November 13, 1942 in the wilds of Camden, New Jersey

      • clay

Not many kids had semi-automatics in 1950.

      • ClevelandJim

He is so fucking full of bullshit…another republican factwarper.

        • Gustav2

Libertarian, member of the Constitution Party.

          • ClevelandJim

            oh jeezus kriste

  • Rex

This is the type of crazy that works day and night to keep guns in the hands of other crazy people.

  • Anastasia Beaverhousen

I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where’s the vodka.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

They always threaten to kill anybody they don’t like while failing to realize that they made gun ownership so easy that anybody they shoot at can easily arm up and shoot back. Also they vote to arm the hell out of the armed forces that they can be sitting on a mountain of ammo wearing a tin foil hat and the armed forces can just have a drone take them out. Morons.

  • Snownova

I don’t think he quite knows what the word “hero” means.

  • MikeBx2

Not to try to reason with the mentally deranged, but why would he think “the media” wants gun control? They get big ratings from mass murder coverage. Sad but very true.

  • kareemachan

FFS, they didn’t *have* semi-automatic weapons when you were in school, asshat.

  • Uncle Mark

Sure, Man-Jan; everyone at your school carried guns & semi-automatics because apparently handing weapons to adolescents struggling with immaturity, impulse-control, rivalries, emotional issues, and raging hormones has never lead to tragedy…until liberals tried to take their weapons away

  • Proud MOFO Beaner (bkb)

They take the most stupid, counter-productive, divisive and/or abhorrent position on EVERY ISSUE

  • OdieDenCO

so is he claiming he is not American? Nowhere in America now or in the past do children tote semi-automatic weapons to school and no one cares. Enough with the Lies!

  • Gun Owners of America was formed because they thought the NRA was too soft. Larry Pratt, like Grover Norquist,(NRA Board Member) is one of those “Deep State” gadflies, that hang around Washington for decades now, trying to make money by trying to create outrage for their small minded donors.. Pratt is really out there in the paranoid right spectrum, that also touches the Libertarian loonies, like Oathkeepers/Oafkeepers.

  • Christopher
  • Ragnar Lothbrok

Right, and gays encourage gay bashing so we can get public sympathy.

    Fuck off !!

  • safari

There is no reasoning with such people.

  • hdtex

“an armed citizenry rises up against [the liberal media]”

  • safari

I remember that scene in a Christmas Story when Ralphie shot the bully.

    • jimbo65

Yup. But even then he was fantasizing about it

  • Boreal
    • Bad Tom

      It takes MONEY for that.

  • Albert Ross

Damn! The secret is out! Who knew that the Pratt knew so much? He’s too clever!

  • Tom G

I sure hope it starts working!!

  • AmeriCanadian

This probably isn’t even worth stating but this guy is a bit older than I am and I can assure you that not one student at my 1500 student high school ever brought a gun to school, let alone anything semi-automatic. How do I know? We had random searches for drugs every now and then and no guns ever turned up. Besides, word would have spread like wildfire if a student was found (or bragged) to have one. The bullshit spewed is enough to plug the St. Lawrence.

  • Rebecca Gardner

It’s so difficult to follow RWNJ “logic.” Let me give it a try.

Libtards are against the tobacco industry because they want to see people die of lung cancer. When people are told they shouldn’t do something they think, “Hey! I gotta try that.” As a result more people than ever are smoking and getting cancer just so they can force gubmit health care on us.

How was that painfully twisted logic? Think I got a shot as the next giggling couch tumor blonde on Fox and Friends?

    • jmax

“Giggling couch tumor”. I am so stealing that.

  • Exatron

Speaking of gun ownership, the NRA has been awfully quiet ever since the news broke that Russia gave them funding for the 2016 election.

  • dcurlee

What fucking school did he go to. I’ve never gone to a school that allowed any weaponry. I call bullshit on this asshole

  • StevenMN

I remember carrying a water pistol to school. It was confiscated by my teacher. Later on in my criminal career I graduated to heavy armaments and brought a cap gun. That resulted in my parents being called and doing hard time in detention.

    • Joe in PA

And later in high school you got a part in West Side Story? 🙂

  • Paula

It’s GOA again. They are much more assholish than the NRA. These people are dangerous.
They used to come in to the gun shop I worked at to leave displays of membership information. Somehow, it would always find its way into the dumpster out back. 😇😇😇😇

  • Robert Adams

    Pretzel logic at it’s best.

  • Chris Gardner

Where the hell did you grow up that kids had to walk to school with semi-automatic guns?

    • kaydenpat

      Love her!! She is hilarious.

  • kaydenpat

Yeah, sure Jan. That makes so much sense.

  • Robert Adams

When I was a kid back in the 50’s and 60’s, we guys all carried pen knives to school. It’s when jerks started using them for something besides playing mumbley peg during recess that they became a problem and were banned.

You gotta rethink that chicken-egg scenario there, Larry.

  • RDnDC

    02/24/2018 Event with Trump.

  • Have you BEEN to a movie lately? The trailers are basically non-stop violence and gun fetishism/worship. EVERYTHING is solved with guns and killing. Bow down and worship the almighty penis extensions!!! It’s no wonder our society is as fucked as it in. It’s reflected/reinforced in our art.

    • Barry William Teske

  • JWC

They just will not own it Restrict guns

  • Lakeview Bob

I guess you were allowed to carry guns to school back in the 1880’s when he went to school. I have never such a ridiculous claim about modern children carrying guns to school.

  • Jerry Kott

As a Gay Senior, it always surprise me that Heterosexual men are never required to “stop and think”.

  • Matt

    Um… no.

  • dbishop75

Only in your wettest and wildest dreams, Larry

  • I grew up in a rural area – nearly everyone had a gun or guns. As a kid the first thing you were taught was that these are dangerous tools. You don’t touch it unless you have a good reason to, and simply carrying one around with you meant you were a psychopath.

  • The_Wretched

Uh, schools never allowed guns. Ever. One school my elder sisters went to in the 80s had metal detectors and even swiss army knifes were a 3 day expulsion where I went to HS. the guy with a fake bomb got 2 months in-patient and meds. the ones who did a bank robbery (in presidents masks, they were on the ski team) got jail time. that wasn’t on school grounds though.

Or you know, gun violence is a thing and it goes down when you regulate fire arms. And liberals actually aren’t doing false flag operations all the time.

  • -M-

    The Big Lie. Check.

  • BobSF_94117

    Uh, people… he was home-schooled…

    • jmax

And probably bragged about having sex with his teacher.

  • Barry William Teske

Somebody needs to stop using their gun and the rights pertaining to as a dildo.
Sooner or later it might really go off.

  • Stogiebear

Pardon me Mr. Pratt, but it’s too soon to talk about it.

  • Hank

Pratt was born in Camden, New Jersey on November 13, 1942

It is HIGHYLY unlikely, that in the 40s-60s, in New Jersey, that Pratt even HAD a gun, let alone semi-autos!!!!

    • Marty Pavelka

Yes, by all means, let us allow humans, whose brains are not yet fully functional, carry semi-automatic weapons to school, one of the least stressful places a proto-adult human can be. /s

  • He drank the red Kool aid for sure.

  • Buford

The obvious… the NRA and others should pull the rug out from under the liberal media’s agenda by preemptively eliminating US mass shootings without having to enact strict gun controls.

    THAT would show us.

  • Steverino

Asshole is just envious that all of the rubles he craves are being laundered through the NRA.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

    Fucking Ammosexuals, they’re so disgusting.

  • trouble94114

What a load of bull pucky.

Rule #1 about lying. At least try and make it believable.

  • ted-

    Just another asshole.

  • Canadian Observer

Damn, they must have had HUGE lunchboxes in order to carry a semi-automatic in them and still have room for the Scooby snacks.

  • Ann Kah

The only thing to ask about the NRA is “Have they no shame?”
    Apparently not.

  • JCF

“You know, when I was growing up, the kids carried guns to schools,
including semi-autos, and no one really thought anything of it”

    • Gianni

I’d like to know where in hell he grew up. Damn right it’s medication time!
