Breitbart Deletes Anti-Muslim Super Bowl Tweet

The Hill reports:

The conservative website Breitbart News deleted a tweet on Sunday night that suggested Muslims will bring an end to the Super Bowl if they gain control of the United States. The tweet was in the form of a discussion between a child who asks what the Super Bowl was, and a grandparent explaining why it was done away with. Breitbart was criticized for the tweet, and on Monday morning announced via Twitter that the deleted tweet did not meet its editorial standards.

The more these assholes try to prove their superiority the more they show that they are not.

      both are racist tbh

      • The_Wretched

How is liberty racist? On such a short comment, i can only read ‘false equivalence’.

        • Todd20036

I deleted this troll long ago. Not worth the effort.

        • Scribble Writer 🌹 ☭

america, one of the most evil empires to have ever existed, is founded upon a bedrock of white supremacy, genocide, & racist imperialism.

nothing to be proud of & we should fight against our own corrupt nation just as much as we should fight against the nazis who love it so much. there will be no peace or liberty in the world while the united states & its military are still in it

          • The_Wretched

okay then…i’ll just be stepping back now.

      • matrem

Wow, a new, private troll calling all Muslims racist. So original.

      • m_lp_ql_m

“There are good people on both sides!”

  • Jefe5084

Must not have been vile enough for the editorial board.

  • TheManicMechanic

The thing is, there are plenty of better things to do than sit around watching football.

The Shitefarters don’t know much else, however.

They seem nice. You know, the sort where it’s nice when they’re nowhere near you.

  • HZ81

Um, what? Even their racism is so boring, nobody cares.

  • Adam Stevens

It must suck to be the type of adult that is terrified of everything and everyone that doesn’t look like you. What a horrible day-to-day they must live.

I would think it would be far easier to deal with your fears than to harbor and nourish such hatred.

It feels like this entire world is spinning backwards sometimes.

    • The_Wretched

The conservative christian religion is founded on fear and obeying. Everything is irrational and out to get you so do what we tell you to.

And America cries out in chorus: “Huh?

The Super Bowl is where Dear Leader spends his “executive time” (courtesy of the Guggenheim)…..and yes, there have been deflated balls involved and LOTS of pigskin

    • TheManicMechanic

People at the Guggenheim know perfectly well that Trump would absolutely love to have a solid gold toilet, but knew this would put him between between Scylla and Charybdis in exposing his tasteless need for gold with the need to appear accessible to the lowly unwashed masses. This was brilliant.

  • Rex

I’m going out on a limb here and guess that the Super Bowl ratings were better than their Dear Leader’s State of the Union address, and more people watched the Super Bowl than logged into Breitbart.

    • Treant

      Ding, ding, ding!

    • JWC

Oh Blasphemy You dare mock the attendance of the dear leaders SOTU address

    • Bambino

Super Bowl : 47.4 millions – The lowest in 8 years.
SOTU : 45.6 millions – Blowtard claimed the highest rated of all time.

      • gaycuckhubby

I would suggest the low ratings are a combination of conservatives hating the protest and liberals hating the way the League handled the protests.

Oh yeah, and the sport getting called out for maiming it’s players

        • Bambino

Professional sports are like Papa John pizza. It’d neither sport nor pizza. A Broadway show disguise as sports event.

    • Joe in PA

And the dear Sarah Palin was tweeting about how no one was going to watch the Super Bowl. #boycottSuperBowl You should have seen the rabid comments that followed. They should have used #unhinged.

      Yeah right.

  • The_Wretched

Obsessing over muslims in the US is irrational. They are just about 1% of the population and at 0.0000001% of the political power.

Even more offensive, these ‘muslims will ban alcohol’ fears are actualities from christians. Christians support the banning of alcohol or fight to prevent sunday sales (aka blue laws).

    • Blue laws are just about the stupidest things out there.
Car dealerships can’t be open in Louisiana on Sundays due to Blue Laws. I mean, i do appreciate having every Sunday off, but, what’s the benefit (in general I mean..)

      • BobSF_94117

There’s something to be said for a day of rest when (almost) no one is expected to work. That said, it’s darned annoying if you’re not used to it.

        • agreed.

        • When I was younger, I kind of liked working weekends. I was frequently the only person with Monday and Tuesday off. I could get crap done on my days off; I could go to the movies without them being crowded. But yeah, if I wanted to do stuff, my friends were often working.

  • gaycuckhubby

I want to be offended, but honestly I’m just confused by this ridiculous word salad

  • Marides48

Breitbart has editorial standards? When did that start?

    Did they fire the intern?

    • edrex

they’re in a bidding war with fox news over who gets him (and it’s most certainly a “him”).

  • edrex

    first: “editorial standards?” ha!

second: isn’t the point of your so called editorial “standards” to prevent sending out such stupid statements to begin with?

ps — i realized that as i’m writing this i’m lunching on delicious falafel, hummus and pita from the lovely dubai family shop down the street from my office.

    • Gustav2

What? They let you buy from them?

      • edrex

let me? they are very generous and actually throw in extra stuff just to let me try it.

        • Gustav2

This married eldergay has Muslim next door neighbors. The kids play basketball over here until they get unruly and start running into the flower beds…lol

          • Joe in PA

So you REALLY DO say things like “and get off my lawn”.

Wow, I thought that was just an expression. 🙂

            [ducking]

          • Gustav2

We give them a warning then it is:

            “Time to go home, kids.”

When their oldest daughter was 5 she decided she was going to tell us what to do and would not go home…I had to physically pick her up and mover her to her own lawn. lol

    • Rambie

I love stopping at a local family ran shop for their chicken shawarma with hummus. The wife makes the most amazing hummus daily.

  • Priya Lynn

I don’t think people will be playing football in 50 years either, but not because of Muslims, but because brain damage will no longer be socially acceptable.

I say this as a (conflicted) football fan.

  • Publius

    “Editorial standards.”

    Right.

  • Breitbart: “Sure, we’re totally fine with the racist bigotry, but it wasn’t quite up to our editorial standards in trying not to be quite so totally blatant. We’d like at least 1 in 4 people not to hear the dog-whistle, to allow for sufficient gaslighting opportunities.”

  • Proud MOFO Beaner (bkb)

This is mainstream republicanism folks. Don’t let your GOP friends and family try to distance themselves from it

    • Boreal

I call them on it regularly. Most don’t want to talk to me about politics at all but I still bring it up.

      Well, not them

  • Barry William Teske

“We have deleted a tweet that did not meet our editorial standards.”

    Oh look!
Its read between the lines time.

  • Jmdintpa

and it all started with that dang dern kneeling…. Trump tried to stop it.. he tried to stop it and look what they did to him.

  • Boreal
  • Phil2u

WOW. That is vile…even for them.

  • m_lp_ql_m

“Editorial standards”, eh? I think they deleted the wrong tweet.

    • Todd20036

They need to delete the entire website.

  • gaycuckhubby

So now football is a symbol of American freedom of speech and religion?

    • m_lp_ql_m

Heh, in high school, it was, to me at least, a symbol of oppression and bullying.

      • Silver Badger

I take comfort in the belief that most of those high school jocks flamed out early and are now living dreary lives. May not be true, but the thought is comforting.

    • Unless they disagree with what the football players are saying. Then it’s shut those pinko commies down and quit saying things that hurt my freedum of speach, will ya.

    • GanymedeRenard

Only for the straight, white Christians, you know, the “real” Americans.

      • gaycuckhubby

But last week football was what was wrong with America. It was ungrateful, unpatriotic black players who were “sons of bitches”

The right wing gives me whiplash

        • GanymedeRenard

          Not the only one there.

NPR whispered the word correction today.

      • what do you mean?
        like, what was the context?

        • “Market correction” is the term they use when the stock market tanks for more than a single day, but they’re not sure if it’s fully converted from a Bull market to a Bear one yet.

          • ‘Corrections’ also often precede economic contractions & recessions.

          • thanks.
so this could be bad. we just aren’t sure yet?

          • Yep. Or it could just be a market correction, because the growth over the last 60 days has been out of normal range, prompted by the Republicans’ tax cut, basically. Companies began buying back their stock, while investors rode the bubble.

          • pch1013

Isn’t 10% the benchmark for a “correction,” or is it 20%?

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

I’m expecting a drop of at least 2500.
The market really needed a correction.

      • Dreaming Vertebrate

If that floor breaks, then 5000.

    • Not surprised, honestly…but thanks for letting us know it was continuing.

To see a ‘correction’ like this go on again after a weekend is, um, troubling.

  • -M-

Not at all bright tweet: “Scary Muslims would do away with all-American football.”

Links to not at all bright article about how Americans are not that interested in the super bowl now, presumably saying it’s because “real Christians™” object to Black players excerising their first amendment rights.

    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • JWC

There is a general trend that foot ball is not as popular as it once Most probably from health issues . Chevys have given way to Mazdas Apple pies are now made in China The world is going to hell

If it didn’t meet BB’s editorial standards – then how the fuck did it get posted? Seems they got an ‘editor’ problem….

  • Although I do not follow football at all, I’m actually unreasonably pleased the Philly Eagles (Go Iggles!) beat the New England Patriots. Especially once I heard Brady was a MAGA asshole.

Kinda helps too that I was born and grew up in PA. 🙂 Even though I preferred the Steelers.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

At least three Eagles will boycott the White House. I am hearing rumors the whole team will, but can’t confirm.

  • JWC

Its a real dichotomy In that Trump belittles those which do not stand for the flag( they don’t have to , its not a requirement) Yet no one besmirches the flag world wide than Trump

  • pj

they have standards and im the easter bunny

  • Wait, didn’t those asshats at Breitbart boycott the NFL this year, or was that someone super similar?

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

    Extremists judging extremists.

  • Joe in PA

One of my favorite tweets in response to this crap:

Yeah, we get it, you’re racist.

  • MBear

They lost me at “The conservative website Breitbart News…”

When did ‘conservative ‘ start to mean ‘extremist propaganda ‘?

    • For the USA? Back when the slave states threatened civil war in order to get slavery enshrined in the constitution. Then also back when they actually committed treason through civil war in order to strike first at the United States in order to protect slavery. Then also back after they lost their treasonous war, and tried to establish them as poor victims of “northern aggression”.

I could keep going, but… well, let’s just say conservatism has always bene the homes of extremist propagandists.

  • misterjack

    Grampa, what was the “alt-right”?
Well, lil Suzy & Johnny, they were all a bunch of racist white boys with small dicks who lived in their parent’s basements, and tried to re-brand themselves. But they didn’t fool anybody, kids. We all knew what they really were: vile, Nazi scum.

  • Albert Ross

    LOL @ “Standards”

  • JCF

As I said last night, not only was this tweet offensive, it made NO sense. How can you simultaneously cheer the MAGAts for turning off the NFL (the story being tweeted here) AND say that the NFL would be taken away by those Mean Muslims? Isn’t killing the NFL the logical end of the “Don’t Watch Those Blackity-Black Anthem-Kneelers” movement you’re cheering?

  • Gianni

I’m a bit stunned. Breitbart actually claims to have editorial standards. Now that’s news!

  • Halou
