Teabaggers Launch Rosenstein Attack Ad [VIDEO]

Jonathan Swan reports at Axios:

The Tea Party Patriots, a conservative activist group, is launching an advertising campaign calling on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to “do his job, or resign.” Why this matters: The campaign is modest — initially a six-figure spend on digital and TV in Washington D.C. — but the attack is a canary in the right-wing coal mine. I expect other conservative groups to follow. Such attacks have outraged many in the Justice Department and the FBI.

Hubris is definitely going to be the downfall of the alt-right. They weren’t shouted down (as they should have been) when it was about Latinos, Muslims, and Blacks. Now they think it’s OK to go after Jews. The Holocaust is STILL a living memory for too many people.

For purposes of discussion, let’s take them at their word. There’s no collusion, they’re all completely innocent. That leaves us with the fact that they’ve been destroying our foundational institutions, sometimes with dramatic sweeping acts like “the memo,” sometimes in bits and pieces. What is the logic for that? Destroying national parks, the EPA, the Dept. of Education, the State Department, DOJ, the FBI – to what fucking end? What possible rationale can there be for implementing what amounts to a scorched earth policy for these previously revered parts of our government?

The only explanation I can conceive is that there are external entities (R*ss*a ) who want to erode the power of the United States in the world and our way of life.

Even setting aside the shit-clown in the White House, the GOP has it within their power to put an end to all of this. Instead, with only a few exceptions, they are either colluding with that outside entity (R*ss*a) or sitting idly by and watching from the sidelines.

I never dreamed I would witness anything like this in my lifetime. Yet here we are.

  • As near as I can tell, Nunes and Team Trump Treason were hoping this shitty memo of theirs would provide the necessary evidentiary pretext to end the Mueller investigation. Not just to fire Mueller and probably Rosenstein, but to literally end any further investigations into what happened.

To do this, they would need give their own enablers and supporters ammo in the form of talking points. They also needed to persuade the undecideds and simultaneously sow doubts among those who believe Donald and his campaign conspired with the Russians to steal the US election (and launder billions in Russian money).

Among the reasons this wasn’t going to work? The people running the investigations are pros, even when they’re Republicans like Mueller. Even if Mueller is fired, the team would go on and Rosenstein would be under pressure to name a replacement to lead it. Even if Rosenstein is fired or pressured out, his replacement would be under the same pressure.

And as biased and slanted as the memo is, it doesn’t actually allege any investigatory improprieties, other than character assassination for anyone who thought it was a bad idea for America to have a Russia-compromised president, as Steele concluded. No crimes were ID’d. No illegal submissions for FISA warrants (Nunes tried to claim they were, but all the legal experts have shredded his ignorant assertions about there needing to be more than probable cause to issue a surveillance warrant.) The memo even admits that the FBI counterintelligence investigation was sparked by the Papadopoulos wine-bar incident, once it was finally reported by Australian intelligence to the US.

At best for the Trumpers if they engage in wholesale firings, they may win a respite from the active investigation phase, but it’s all but guaranteed to continue at some point anyway. The other problem they face is the fact they exist in their own bubble where they are incapable of imagining the positions and motives of others, nor that an action will be met with a reaction. The bubble is most impenetrable around Dotard Donald, because if he sees something on Fox News, and it fits with his desires, he labels it absolute truth. He doesn’t realize (and doesn’t want to realize) for example, he’ll never climb up out of the mid-30s in approval ratings unless he appeals to the people who DON’T watch FNN. But he doesn’t want to, because those are the people who feed his narcissistic ego.

What finally got through to Nixon’s noggin has yet to be realized by Cheeto Twittler: That even if you do a fast or slow Saturday Night Massacre, all you’ve done is convince more of the fence-sitters that you do have something to hide. And Donald’s crimes go way, way, way beyond Nixon’s.

    • Bad Tom

As usual, a cogent and penetrating analysis. Thank you, Beca!

    • j.martindale

I appreciate your optimism. We have never faced a fascist takeover of the government before, though. When the party in power does not believe that the people can do anything about their abuse of power, they are prone to ignore the conventional checks and balances to their behavior. tRump has already shown his disdain for the norms of government and society. I am not convinced that, unlike Nixon, this cretin won’t salt the earth before he will relinquish power.

      • killreligion

True but I’m less worried about trump than the party he will leave us. We can’t have only one legitimate party. A lot of people will accept the GOP eroding our checks and balances and never accept truth or be objective or think. Romney was right about the 40 something percent, he just had the wrong people in mind and instead of take care of themselves it’s think for themselves

Trump won’t last but he’s not doing the damage. His treasonous enablers in congress scare me.

    • lymis

The biggest “cherry picked to the point of turning it into a lie” part of it was something Rachel pointed out last night.

They phrase it to imply that Steele started out biased against Trump and went about his investigation with the sole intent of preventing him from being elected and went on a witch hunt. The actual timing is that he did the investigation, found serious indications that Trump is involved with Russia, reported it appropriately, and then after Trump was elected and started clearly putting his own (now shown as clearly corrupt) people in charge, and then became concerned that it would all be covered up.

So rather than this all being some biased anti-Trump thing from the beginning, it’s an entirely different matter.

      • killreligion

Also let’s not forget the research was initiated by a conservative backer of trump tv which would have started after trump lost the nomination

I’m sure the guilty will be dealt with just like with the people that crashed the economy

Industry in the USA always does what it wants, they just factor in the fines as part of doing business and pass that shit onto us.

    • Max_1

Why are these so called “high ranking” Federal Employees that head departments so lackadaisical in executing their jobs and responsibilities… ?

Yellen didn’t have to be harrassed to do her job… If she wanted to do it.
But instead, she needed harassment to actually do her job… on her last day.

They say that the later is better than never, however that is usually reserved for incompetent and ineffective leaders as their excuse for their late responses.

Warren is one of the most effective Senators in a long, long while.
      GIVE ‘EM HELL ELIZABETH!!!

  • The_Wretched

    So let’s see
Yesterday the conservative sites get the memo
    They premessage on Page
    Today is memo
Today is SHS pushing the same narrative
Today is sessions referring the memo to a DOJ internal oversight.
And now this story of the rwnj attacking rosenstein on same point.

Sure looks like an attempt to fire rosenstein and stop Mueller.

    • sadoldguy

I agree with you, and it looks like it might work.

    • It’s not going to work. Sessions doesn’t want Rosenstein gone.

You can tell even now who on Trump Team Treason knows there’s a potential for going to prison if they play it wrong, versus those who still think there will never be any consequences. Some of the latter have bailed, others appear to be taking measures to lessen their personal exposure.

      Chaffetz, Gowdy: Bailed
Sessions: Continuing to maintain his recusal and Rosenstein firewall
McGahn: Leaking exculpatory narratives for his own actions
Priebus, Bannon: Potentially doing the same
Papadopoulos, Flynn, and likely Gates: Plea deals.
      Manafort, Stone: Sweating bullets

The morons who appear to have no fucking clue they’re risking prison?
Donald, of course. Kushner. Don Jr. Ivanka. Carter Page. Miller. Nunes. Flynn Jr. Huckabee-Sanders.

Conspirators/enablers who may one day be caught in the net: Hicks. Ryan. McConnell. Rohrabacher. Erik Prince, and likely lots more.

      • sadoldguy

How many republicans that knew what was in the memo voted against it?
        0

        • Not the point, really. Most of ’em just want to stay in power and reflexively put party ahead of duty.

      • The_Wretched

        Good points and well said.

      • Scout

Huckabee-Sanders paying a price would be great, but what has she done? Except lie and be arrogant, I mean. Please let me know if she may also be on the hook for obstruction of justice or conspiracy somehow . . .

  • greenmanTN

I really don’t understand this mindset. I mean I’m pretty partisan, but if Obama had sold our country out to the Russians I’d like to think I’d at least be a little miffed!

    • Tomcat

I loved Obama but if he did one tenth what trump is doing I would be calling for his resignation.

    • -M-

I’m increasingly disappointed that he didn’t take a hard line against the Republicans.

      • greenmanTN

It was clear two months in that they had no interest in bipartisanship.

      • Ninja0980

Me too, especially when it came to the courts.

      Not a surprise.

In no way meant as offense against greenmanTN, just trying to point out typical hypocrisy of republicans.

      • Cackalaquiano

        Right, low bar unfortunately…

    • stevenj

It is the mindset of desperate Republicans that want to decimate government as we’ve known it.

      • killreligion

I think it might have to do with being the minority. They know they’ve lost. So they suppress information, voting and never “see” the bad their side does. It’s being desperate and cornered, their minds suppress reality

It’s a lot like religious people. Any objective person, even children, would see it’s a farce. But the fear instilled about a nonexistent “soul” suffering eternally makes people suppress any doubt. I’m no psychiatrist but it’s surely something our brains do as survival evolutionary holdover.

    • whollyfool

      Yes exactly. This.

    • leastyebejudged

Don’t worry, you wouldn’t be. Nobody here would be.

    • lymis

Hell, if Obama had ordered Russian dressing for his salad, the Republicans would have demanded impeachment.

Remember “Freedom Fries?” And THAT was just because they didn’t think the French were being sufficiently deferential to Bush.

  • DaddyRay

What is disappointing is I have talked to 3 of my democratic leaning friends who just don’t understand what this memo situation is all about (2 of them cut the cord and don’t watch cable)

Oh they are but it frustrates me that the Republicans game is succeeding

they look like desperate trapped rats.

          • DaddyRay

The succeeding part is the damage that could be done to the Mueller investigation

        • GanymedeRenard

I trust their apparent “success” will in the end be nothing more than smoke and mirrors.

      • Treant

In so many cases, it’s a duplication event (or a hiccup when copying). The basic zinnia has an extensive genome.

But it began a new species in the 1970’s with a full genetic duplication. The Zahara (Profusion) zinnias have twice the genes and a different form, and are unable to reproduce with their parent species. However, most of those genes don’t do much of anything at all, they’re just along for the ride.

ETA: Also, clip a flower, grow three in its place. Or make the plant bushier. Their genome, like ours, also contains extensive self-repair mechanisms, and even you can regenerate some lost parts without difficulty…

It’s been a while since I’ve had cupcakes. On the plus side my new gyro burger recipe was a big hit.

    • Gretchen

Yum! I have been teaching my niece to bake. We made cupcakes and practiced decorating with those fancy Russian piping tips before Christmas.

      • Blake J Butler

Today was the first time i actually made cupcakes, and with icing.

This time it was a mix, my biggest challenge was trying to make them 3/4ths of the way full and not have them and not full all the way to the top of the pan.

The icing was though was homemade from scratch.

My goal is to master cupcakes enough to do what i want which is the cupcake bouquet, in the form of a hydrangea.

        • Gretchen

These Russian tips make decorating so much easier. I love the results. I’m linking a video below that gives a good overview. I sometimes doctor a box mix by swapping the water for milk and using melted butter (double the amount required in directions) for the vegetable oil. Adding an extra egg helps too. My buttercream recipe uses sweetened condensed milk and less powdered sugar than most recipes. Happy baking!

Maybe to someone i hate, or to do it from someone handsome who wanted it.

OT: A huge problem I have with police in general is when people actually DO report their friends/family missing and they’re all “I’m sure they’ll turn up eventually.” Well, yeah, in some guy’s planter or in a dumpster. If we can’t get cops to look when someone is missing and very probably a victim of murder, how can people expect them to pay attention to lesser crimes?

I can’t say I’m a true crime junkie but I’ve heard enough that a lot of unsolved mysteries go, “And after he/she disappeared, the cops told family that blankety-blank probably just ran away.” (I understand that people have the right to disappear but usually there’s some warning and usually they take their $$$/car/luggage/pet with them.)

They wouldn’t even return my calls. For the last year or so I have had a sort of general idea where he may be, so at least I know he is safe. He is a conman, so I always assumed he had just moved on to his next mark, but it was awful knowing he was missing and no one would even take a report let alone look for him.

Put it bluntly, if some of the folks saying this stuff had bothered to talk to a POC or LGBT, we could have told that yes, the GOP has always been this bad.
The fact it was just easier for them to ignore it since they aren’t either of those things.

    • Don’t think I’d say ‘always.’ It became this way with the advent of Reagan and the final absorption of the formerly Democratic racist “Dixiecrats” into the Republican party. Soon they became the GOP, which since then has been shedding everyone to the left of Gov. George Wallace.

      • Ninja0980

The Republican Revolution of the 90’s was the true turning point IMO.
My uncle left the Republican Party in the 90’s when he had to live in Idaho for work and had crackpot Helen Chenoweth as his rep for three years (when he was finally able to leave.)
She made Michelle Bachmann look sane and yet was easily elected for three terms.
That’s when my uncle knew the Republican Party had reached the point of no return.
Been a Democrat (albeit a Manchin type) ever since.

I started my new job on Monday. First week went well, aside from the IT department is in the L.A. office and we have the worst computers known to man.

ANYWAY. One of my new coworkers is this older white lady who is a big fan of Trump. I can tell she can barely contain her Trump enthusiasm. Today she was all excited because her husband got paid today and his paycheck reflected the new tax break! I responded with “most people aren’t getting a tax break and won’t see bigger paychecks”. Her response, “Well, we’ll see,” Btw, her husband’s big increase on his paycheck? About $70 a week.

    • safari

You can remind her that her increase in pay is eating away at the stock market and therefore making her retirement fund dip.

      • safari

Not that such a thing is bad. I kind of like to see wall street take it on the nose, but they won’t. And if they do we’ll bail them out.

My withholding this year is literally half of last year.

        1) That’s with $1300 voluntarily directed held back for the year 2018.

        2) (The 2018 withholding) is an amount that leaves me several thousand short of 2018’s expected bill. I’ve gotta go back in and withhold more. That little cushion at the end of the year isn’t to buy a new TV or pay off credit cards, it’s to cover the 90+% of husbot’s SocSec income which is taxable.

        • Gretchen

We do the same. I withhold extra from my state pension to cover my social security income. Thanks for the headsup. I will double check my numbers.

My response? “Two words: Doug. Jones.”

      • Ninja0980

Already the pundits are declaring the tax bill and the money people are getting from it and the poll numbers tightening up spells doom for Democrats.
My response is votes matter more then polls do and they’ve been showing a far different result then the pundits think will happen.

        • Skeptical_Inquirer

I think they forget that a few dollars a day bribe isn’t enough to make a lot of people forget Nazis suddenly orgasming loudly in the streets and the Republic of Gilead on the horizon.

        • SoCalGal20

That old saying that “all politics is local” is really true. Pundits can say whatever and candidate bank accounts can have millions of dollars but if a candidate canvasses the district they’re running in, really gets out there and meets constituents and gets their message out and people are looking for something better and/or are motivated by what the cadidate said the incumbent could have all the money and run all the ads and it still won’t matter.

Awesome. The last polling had Nunes only 5 points ahead. HRC lost the district but Harris won. The district is 40% Latino. The dems have id’d CA-22 one of the districts it’s targeting. O/T rant but for the folks that sometimes complain about how the national media and pundits don’t get their area.. they are sometimes right.
My district (NY-24) is a swing district and IMO one of the bellweathers for this year’s elections.
If John Katko goes, it’s going to be a very long night for Republicans.
And yet, since Democrats didn’t get the candidate they wanted (Stephanie Miner) it’s Democrats are DOOOMMED.
Let me say this, as someone who is going to make a point to help get whomever wins the primary elected, Miner had a lot of baggage from her time as Mayor of Syracuse and not all of it was smears from Republicans.
She was more then happy to clash with everyone and anyone, no matter the party.

OT but a sign of the times. The Chinese replace a section of track in 8-1/2 hours.

    https://slate.com/business/2018/02/the-story-behind-that-viral-chinese-train-station-video.html

But something else is going on here. The Chinese now have more high-speed rail track (more than 12,500 miles) than the rest of the world combined, to say nothing of the country’s mushrooming subway networks. One effect of this has been the development of an enormous amount of expertise, reflected in both human skills, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, and lots of qualified contractors. It’s a far cry from, say, New York City, which must deal with the same underqualified bidders over and over and open entirely new factories to order its train cars.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/aussie-anti-gay-marriage-opponent-attends-sex-wedding-52787480
Tony Abbott’s sister is a stronger person then I am.
There is no way in hell I would let someone who had done everything he could to make sure my marriage didn’t take place and demonized me and thousands of other same sex couples within five miles of my wedding.
When my husband and I got married, I told my one bigoted aunt, uncle (and now divorced) cousin that since they were so opposed to same sex marriage, no reason for them to come to mine.
Tony’s sister did different but if I were, I wouldn’t trust a word her brother says.
Far too many of us here know to never trust a bigot, even if they are related to you by blood.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

I don’t even understand why they wanted to attend something they opposed.

      • Ninja0980

Family unity or some shit like that.
Funny considering they’ve alienated most of the family these days, even the few Republicans left.
My only regret is I didn’t realize one of my other cousins would be a Bernie or Bust asshole who considers my marriage expendable for the greater good until two years ago.
        Wouldn’t have allowed her either.

    • Treant

And a few of us here enjoy paying out just enough fishing line for our bigoted relatives to hang themselves with.

  • well, i’m way late to this party once again, but not surprised. this is what the power of untaxed billions looks like.

i really don’t know what to say to the n&ns. i’m officially up to seven of them now. sigh. all but one is going to grow up rich, so there’s that.

governments fail. social organizations fail. we’re failing, in so many ways. honestly, all i can say to the young, who are the only ones who matter? just kill them. do a little math and research; you’ll find out that it’s just a really small number of people who should die, and then? a lot will be better. technology is cool, and it will get us to Mars and beyond, soon. what you’ve got to do is just make the whole “billionaires rule us all” thing go away. that actually won’t be too hard. we have courts. we have juries. we have talented lawyers. we have torches and pitchforks.

grandma CD is old and kinda sick, but still teaches her neighbors’ children in Revolution. summer is the best time for that, when they are out of school and my garden is going full speed. just… ok, put them all in jail, the super rich. i want to kill them, but i’m old and bitter. society would be better even if the best we can do is jail them.

I was saying earlier that I was disappointed because 3 of my democratic friends (2 who have cut the cord and don’t have access to cable news) didn’t understand what the memo thing was all about. Until I explained it to them they had been roped in by the hype for the memo and were feeding into their negative opinions about the FBI and were tie it to what they did to Hillary before the election.

        • the fibbies sort of suck. i have an actually 1 inch thick file with them, i found this out some time ago. meh, so do both of my parents. it’s a tradition. they don’t like Blahs, lefties, people who understand the Constitution and history…

that said, a few of them are Honest People. i met some in the Corps. they were training so they could be part of All That, in the name of Justice. they are sort of Heroic, in that way that the cop shows always portray.

i am just hoping like a fool, that some of the Mueller team is like that. or, greedy. wow, what a book contract you are looking at, if you are one of the insiders who takes the traitor down! that would be some fun shit. my old fibbie buddies in the Corps were some nasty people, vindictive. but yeah, set her upon them, the fake blonde… i wonder if she still works for them.

      • johncAtl

Does Anthony realize that they would kill him also in the Middle East? He’s the trifecta – American, infidel, douchebag.

      • and a sexist pig, and probably a rapist.

          • rape is so ugly, right? it’s always about ugly people with no morals and too much money or power, picking on those who can’t fight back. sleazy. creepy. gross. i can go on and on about it, and i probably shouldn’t, but i could, easily. the fat one. the Blah one. the gang bangers, oh those words mean something. the druggie one. and of course, Mr. Original, who did me in a dark basement. when i was 4.

I’ve stopped watching Maher. I think he is hurting more than helping. Plus, he pisses me off.

        • Ninja0980

Same here and he is hurting more then helping.
If nothing else, the women and LGBT people are being treated worse in the Middle East line ticks me off enough when I hear it from Republicans.
Why the hell should we have to hear that crap hear when folks are trying to turn the clock back (and have sadly succeeded) against us and other groups in this country?

          • Gretchen

I don’t have any evidence to support this other than his general smarminess, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he had his own contingent of #MeToo accusers to step forward eventually.

          • Ninja0980

I’m actually shocked no one has.

  • Ninja0980

To avoid confusion in my post below, I was talking about Bill Maher and how LGBT people (not the first time he’s said this either) need to shut up about injustices here since LGBT people in the Middle East have it worse.
    Bullshit.
P.S. The mooch is an asshole and likely worse.

    • johncAtl

Oh. I took that to mean the mooch. Well, they’ll kill Maher also. American, not Muslim. The people over there that are killing LGBT are extremists. If you’re not one of them you are the enemy. There is no middle ground. So Bill should just just fly himself over and interview a few of them for his show. He won’t need a round-trip ticket.

      • Ninja0980

What irks me is he and others who were around for the AIDS crisis of the 80’s saw first hand what the religious reich and others wanted to do to our community.
And that was let us die and throw the rest in jail.
And yet Maher and others keep telling us we have nothing to worry about..BS!

        • johncAtl

In 1973 the police in Jacksonville used to come into the bar on a Friday or Saturday night and harass people and then force the club to close. I don’t think younger gays can relate to that. And they definitely can’t grasp how bad the 80s and early 90s were. The weekly bar magazines in Atlanta had 5-6-7 pages of obituaries every week. And if I had a fever I assumed that was the beginning and I’d be dead in a few months.

          • Ninja0980

Can’t relate to that but I can still remember election night 04 where after months of my (then boyfriend) husband and I see seeing the results come in and watching same sex marriage bans pass in each and every state they were on the ballot in and seeing W win reelection.
And it broke our hearts to know he won in part (especially OH) because of bigotry.
Even some of us who weren’t around for the AIDS crisis or earlier can remember that.
But the kids coming up today don’t..and that scares me.
Because they don’t realize that if Trump and Republicans can keep putting folks on the courts, everything all of us from different generations went through..they will too..with a vengeance.

          • johncAtl

The courts worry me a lot. While Trump is distracting everyone the Senate Republicans are busy approving lower federal court judges to fill all those positions that they wouldn’t fill while Obama was in office. Have I mentioned that I hate Republicans?

          • Ninja0980

            Yup.
I’ve also mentioned here (as you’ve seen) how our side doesn’t care about that and in fact helped Republicans along.
How the hell could Democrats let Republicans keep certain seats open for years because of a stupid Senate rule (blue slip) Republicans had already made clear they would ignore?

          • Gretchen

I can’t imagine how terrifying that must have been. The grief and fear must have been overwhelming. You and the entire gay community deserved so much better from your government and society.

          • johncAtl

There is a reason that all of us of a certain age hated Ronald Reagan.

          • Gretchen

As well you should have. I was five when Reagan was elected. My mother often told the story of how I cried when Carter lost. I have been a Democrat for a long time.

          • JCF

Ah, a youth among us! My vote for Carter in 1980 was my very first (and first losing vote—one of WAY too many }-p ).

          • Gretchen

There was a time when I hated being “the baby” in every group. That time is looong past. It’s rare enough now that I relish being the young one.

          • Ninja0980

Hell, even the ones who weren’t around for him but did our research.
All the bad things happening now happened under him from the turning of courts into right wing hellholes to increasing the depth between rich and poor and so much more.
And they want to lionize the POS?

          • Oscarlating Wildely

Lionize, adore, blow– same thing when it comes to Saint Ronnie and the GOP.

Now, note: I believe that one should say only that which is good about the dead. Good; he’s dead. Hated that fucker when he was alive. Made my day when he died. Thrilled that he’s maggot meat now.

          • johncAtl

I did hope that at the end of his life that he would live longer. It was enjoyable thinking that he was crapping in his diapers, and that his mental state had deteriorated so much that he was saying Jane instead of Nancy. “Jane, honey… do you remember the time we were driving along the Pacific Coast Highway?”

          • Oscarlating Wildely

I felt no remorse. Even if I tried I couldn’t. Couldn’t forget what happened throughout the rise of AIDS. Couldn’t forget his jingoistic bullshit. Couldn’t forget his cozying up to the Christianists. Couldn’t forget him screwing over the poor, pretty much any city, pretty much anything or anyone that didn’t fit his agenda. Couldn’t ever forget how they glorified him for it– and how they adored him post death to the point of a cult.

Rot away, Ronnie, you fucker. And I hope that the Devil’s gay, HIV+, is black and from Detroit, and has a wicked sense of revenge.

          • Ninja0980

Feel the same way about all of these monsters.

This woman was evil when she was my Rep but she was so extreme even Republicans in this state (and that’s changed) wanted her gone and she was after one term.

When I was a child, a toddler really, my sister had a cat, Prissy. One day she scooped the litter box and put the… remains in a paper bag and left it on the table. Our mother took it to work thinking it was her bagged lunch, only to discover that it was full of cat turds!

OMG, one of my earliest memories was my mother flipping out because she took cat shit to work for lunch. The woman had no sense of humor, I had to break her in.

        • canoebum

We had a cat when I was a kid, a big boy named Casanova. One winter night he came inside from his nightly jaunt and dropped some snow-covered, frozen lump on the dining room floor. In short order we discovered it was a rabbit’s head. No news on what happened to rest of the rabbit.

    • JT
    • greenmanTN

The latest three kittens were born outside (there were 2 others, one a gorgeous long haired black and white, killed by a neighbor’s dog) and it took them a while to come in. It was really cold that day and I opened the door to see 3 tiny faces, and they walked right in to where it was warm. Little did they know they had just walked into greenman’s taming boot camp! 😈 They haven’t been out since.

They still have their feral instincts so you have to approach them carefully or they run, still very skittish. (Other than Girlene, who turned out to be male, who loved attention from day one.) But you pick them up and they’re purring their little heads off! “Admit it, you love being petted!”

They just got neutered this week, but after they heal they can go outside again. I hope they will come in after that, but who knows?

      • TuuxKabin
      • whollyfool

Oh they will come back… cats know a good thing when they get fed and petted by it, lol. Thanks for being such a good soul, GM. 🙂

      • whollyfool

Another story about “ferals”.. two of my bf’s 5 cats are feral, and brought in as adult cats. One of them had taken to sleeping on the bed lately. (“Feral” indeed, lol) This means there are now 4 cats sleeping with us, 3 15 pounders and one 12.

Last night I heard him get out of bed, and heard the springs of the recliner, and he said “we need a bigger bed!” He slept in the chair all night, lol!

        • greenmanTN

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am the king of this castle and they have to move because I’m not sleeping in fetal position to please their lazy asses!

The first litter was born literally outside my window, behind a built-in planter. The first kitten I brought in was Puck, the only male. Now he’s the leader of the pack, slapping the shit out of the others if they get in his way. I created a monster!

        • MBear

When i met my husband he was used to sleeping in a queen sized bed. My place has a Cali King because i lived with two dogs (about 20-24 lbs).

So i move in with the cub, and now we have 3 of the same breed, so it was easy to talk him into a king sized bed!

          All 3 are duvet divers
