Funny Or Die To Spend $8M On Midterms GOTV

Politico reports:

FUNNY OR DIE and BILLY EICHNER are launching a nonprofit “Glam Up The Midterms” — a campaign focused on under-40-year-old voters in the midterm election. The group tells Playbook it will spend $8 million on the most competitive congressional districts. Their plan: use online mobilization tactics and an analytics program to engage younger voters and hold live comedy events. The team includes: political strategists Lou Frillman and Tim Lim and Funny or Die’s Brad Jenkins and David Litt.

The first clip below features John Oliver, Sarah Silverman, Conan O’Brien, Seth Meyers, and more.

Great!! All hands are needed on deck to flip Congress in November. We should also be supporting organizations like the ACLU which are fighting voter suppression tactics.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

    Good.
    We need to win.
Prepare for dirty rotten under handed tricks; kicked off voter rolls, etc
    We need to win.!

There is also hope because the number of Facebook users is down, along with the amount of time spent on the site. (I would like to see the demo of people leaving, I have a feeling the grandparents are still on)

The word in Georgia right now is 1) check to make sure your on the rolls (even if you’ve been voting with no problems in the past), and 2) request absentee ballot (because the machines can’t be trusted – at least in GA).

    Sam up the midterms!

You have my vote. Unless, of course, you run against Pickey Pecker.

        Peckers For Progress!

    Great idea.

This will catch the attention of lots of under-40s and will hopefully get them thinking about voting in November.

  • Bluto

We gotta get the kiddies involved! (& by kiddies I mean under 40)

    • Silver Badger

The older I get, the higher the “under” figure gets.

    • another_steve

Ohmigod yes. Once you hit 60, the under-40s do seem like kids. 😉

My husband’s a graduate of Georgetown University here in D.C. and the two of us are active in the university’s amazing LGBTQ Resource Center. We’re on campus several times a year for events and the like. The students always look like such young kids. lol

For anyone interested in reading about GU’s LGBTQ Resource Center:

Whoa, things have changed since I was there (College ’87). I seem to recall brouhaha about even obtaining a meeting room on campus. On the other hand, the provost used to have me and my BF for strong late-night drinks often. Ah, memories!

        • another_steve

You were there during the turbulent 80s, when GU’s queer community was involved in a protracted battle over the school’s failure to protect the rights of LGBT students and faculty – this despite D.C. law that then and today forbids discrimination against LGBT people. It was quite the controversy back then.

Today, GU is one of the most progressive Catholic universities in the nation when it come to LGBT people and issues. GU’s President – John DeGioia – is one of the community’s staunchest straight allies.

Good for Jack, who I knew through Tim Healy (I rowed crew, and Healy threw us money for the team by hiring us to be his drivers – amongst the benefits were late night beers in his office, where I got to know Jack, and swimming nude with Healy and other old members at the University Club on 16th street…but I digress. Anyhow, I stopped listening to anything DeGioia had to say after hearing him twice refer to Georgetown as the “Harvard of the Capitol City” twice at large alumni gatherings in the early 2000’s. Ick! I’ll put the pro-LGBT attitude you note in my pipe and smoke it, and see if can find a way back to listening to him.

      • stuckinthewoods

thanks. Interesting there has been change.

  • Silver Badger

Que the RWNJS to start screaming about left wing mind control. They really don’t like it if our mind control works better than theirs.

  • Friday’s_cat

The concerned Americans have to drag Democrats, kicking and screaming, into office, Lord knows they don’t seem all that enthusiastic about winning.

  • killreligion

Good to do but really sad this is needed. We could just teach civics in school.

  • JWC

    good promotion now VOTE
