Dem Rep To Host Trans Soldier At Trump’s SOTU

Boston’s ABC affiliate reports:

A Massachusetts native and soldier will be among those closely watching President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday. Army Staff Sgt. Patricia King, who is transgender, has been deployed to Afghanistan three times.

Last year, the president announced plans to keep transgender individuals out of the military. “I thought to myself, ‘What am I going to wear?’” King said as she prepares for Tuesday. King will attend the speech as the personal guest of Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA).

“For him to reach out to me and offer me this opportunity, for us to have these similar ideals as it applies to transgender rights – it’s amazing to have such an advocate on your side,” she said of Kennedy’s invitation.

Kennedy will also deliver the official Democratic response following Trump’s address.

I prefer to think of it as the STFU address.

Down lower so we can see the piss portion.

    • Joe in PA

Just preparing for the next Sarah Sanders presser, right?

  • Harveyrabbit

She should apply extra polish to her medals and buttons. tRump won’t be able to take his eyes off of anything shiny and be even more distracted than usual.

If there isn’t, just about EVERY Latinx votes Democratic in November. And Rethugs know it!

  • gaycuckhubby

I’m so glad I voted for Jill Stein, after all there’s no difference between the parties.

    • M Jackson

Ralph Nader would have been SO much better at presidencing than Al Gore.
      Hubris rules, Destruction follows.

      • JCF

As I’ve said, I voted for Nader in 1996 (in a state, Pennsylvania, that Bill Clinton would safely win).

But ever since November 2000 (if not before), I’ve absolutely regretted it.

  • 🐾vorpal🐾

Why does Kennedy hate trans people?
Anyone who tries to get me to sit through a Trump SOTU clearly doesn’t like me.

    • Treant

^^This. The second place winner has to go to next year’s SOTU address as well.

    • M Jackson

I scheduled it on my DVR knowing that after “right, like i’m going to spend my time watching THIS?” I’ll just delete it.
I’ll read about It here in the morning.

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

Wonder if anyone will shout *LIAR* at the SOTU?

    • TimCA

With practically every statement Trump says there’ll be that opportunity.

    • Treant

Y’know, I hope not. Don’t give the Republicans ammunition. Tear his ass a new one after the speech since he’ll be Tweeting all about any critiques.

      • Dreaming Vertebrate

        We should gaslight him.
Everyone chant – liar, liar – and then when he tweet rages about it, insist everyone was saying lion, lion!

        • iambu

          “I was saying ‘Boo-urns.'”

        • Treant

I suppose “Russian Whore” is too long to chant, so sure…

      • OdieDenCO

mccain or graham could get away with it.

        • Treant

True. Which is exactly why neither will–not to mention the fact that both talk a good game but support the Dump.

    • perversatile

-or at leaste chuck a shoe at his head.

    • JCF

No, because Dems don’t do that (nor should they—would make Drumpf a “victim”). Plenty of sitting on hands though (among those who show up!).

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

But you can’t train a colicky toddler not to crap its diaper.
There will be dumps to clean up!

    • CanuckDon

Can you train that seal to not have a mobster-toned voice as well?

    • Todd20036

The trained seal would make a better president, and be in better shape.

      • JCF

        Would smell better, too.

  • DaddyRay

I hope there are plenty of medical personnel on hand at the SOTU trained in unsticking eyes that have experienced excessive rolling

    • Menergy

      LOLOLOL! I needed that!

    • TrollopeReader

that, and that thingy they use to deflate four hour hard-ons from the Rs ….

    • Nic Peterson

I once eyerolled so hard I nearly broke my collarbone. That Anderson Cooper thinks he has eyeroll game, she got nothing.

  • ha ha, ‘what am i going to wear?’ you go grrl. i totally understand. i have no idea what i would wear to the SOTU.

    • perversatile

It would have to be something that vomit washed out of easily.

    • Dana Stinson

The life of a trans girl is never dull Went to a party on Saturday and brought along three outfits because I was so damn indecisive. My wife just rolled her eyes.

  • Leo
    • M Jackson

Meaning they are looking into censuring Nunes for attempting to pollute the Russia investigation with a fake memo drawn up by his cabal of trump reemers in the GOP Congress? What else could result in releasing this piece of paper?

    • Sam_Handwich
      • The_Wretched

Still waiting for the shoes in the air to drop. Nike factories have fewer shoes.

  • Todd20036

This ranks up there with the Guggenheim refusing to loan Trump a Picasso but instead offering a golden toilet.

    • Acronym Jim

They were just looking after BOTH of their best interests. Trump would be much less likely to damage a gold throne than he would some psychedelic painting.

      • Todd20036

Given how he couldn’t keep his hand off of some critical piece of hardware at NASA, I have to agree with you

        • John30013

That was Pence with the NASA thing…

OT: Keurig buys Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group for $18.7 Billion
CEO: Thanks to the many Trumptards buying new Keurig machines to replace those tossed out windows, we were able to snap up Snapple in an all-cash deal.

    • TrollopeReader

Someday we’re going to have one company for each line of trade, and wonder how we became the Soviet Union.

    • M Jackson

For Christmas I got my honey a beautiful Keurig machine for his kitchen counter, at a good price online. Thanks to the boycotters for the gift suggestion!

  • TrollopeReader

Good for MA — reps. Kennedy iii and Moulton are two inspiring congressmen who are actually bringing disparate groups together, and working on important issues, rather than the 100% blasting of the “other” party. We as a nation need more of them –on both (and indep) sides.

People might be interested in the column from the Boston Globe on Sgt. Patricia King, who served three tours in Afghanistan as part of her 18+ years in the Army and holds the Combat Infantry Badge, which many commenters felt more than amply documented her ability to serve.

A beautiful and poignant statement quietly stated

  • coram nobis

Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA02) will also be bringing a transgender military guest, a veteran (Huffman skipped last year’s address).

  • andrew

Army Staff Sgt. Patricia King “has been deployed to Afghanistan three times” Thank you for your service to our nation Sgt. King. Hopefully you don’t let the draft dodger in the Oval Office dampen your spirits.

  • Al Prazolam

Does anyone know how many gays and transgenders are serving in the U.S. military? Being a gay serviceman doesn’t appear to be an issue any longer. Yet I have to wonder why any transgender would want to put his or her life at risk to serve an ungrateful country. Send Baptists abroad to lose their lives. The fewer the better.
