Another Top House Republican Heads For The Exit

And the stampede continues:

Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.), the chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, announced Monday that he will not seek reelection in an increasingly competitive district. “I have worked in a bipartisan manner, not just in times of crisis but always, because I believe it best serves my constituents, my state and our country,” Frelinghuysen said in a statement.

Today’s news comes hot on the heels of this:

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-Harding) has taken nearly $100,000 in campaign contributions from Boeing, which recently won a $24 million contract to upgrade refrigerators on Air Force One. Frelinghuysen, who served as chairman of the Appropriations Defense subcommittee before becoming chairman last year, has received a $10,000 contribution from the Boeing political action committee each cycle since 2010, and has received a total of $73,000 from the Boeing PAC. He has also brought in $21,500 in individual contributions from Boeing employees – for a total haul of $94,500 in recent years.

Frelinghuysen is one of the better Republicans on LGBT issues and holds a 48% rating from the Human Rights Campaign.
