Ivanka Has Anti-Trump Chef Booted From DC Party

The Daily Beast reports:

Celebrity chef José Andrés says he was asked to leave the after-party of the annual Alfalfa Club dinner in D.C. on Saturday night, apparently after Ivanka Trump complained about his presence.

Andrés, an outspoken critic of President Trump, took to Twitter to question why he was booted from the event at Cafe Milano after initially being welcomed as a guest.

“’Everyone’ welcome to the after-party, but I’m not allowed in? Is (sic) because Ivanka Trump told you so?” Andrés wrote, telling the owner, Franco Nuschese, “You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Andres made global news recently due to his campaign to feed Puerto Rico’s hurricane victims.

      She’ll look good in those.

      • AtticusP

I’ll bet they’ll look stunning when worn with an orange jumpsuit… 😊

        • Renfield

On her way to the guillotine.

          • AtticusP

I wonder if she will insist on a golden tumbrel?

        • Philly Mike

I hope belted at the waist with a hangman’s noose.

  • SilasMarner

Jose Andres should boycott that shithole and then watch the owner fall all over himself apologizing, so his business doesn’t go under. LOL

    • Sporkfighter

It may happen organically as the majority of the clientele choose to eat elsewhere.

  • Michael R

Why is there no one to boot Ivanka from anywhere she has the gall to show up ?

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

      It needs to become fashionable.

      • Christopher

A fashion trend I could totally embrace!

    • Treant

Because they simply don’t invite her in the first place. The Trumps are considered boorish.

On the down side, Daddy still does control plenty of emoluments…er, I mean places…in the town.

    • Natty Enquirer

      Because money.

      • Tulle Christensen

Jose Andres is not poor, I think it is a power thing not a money thing

  • Wait you’re telling me a Trump is petty and vindictive. *Gasp* No.

  • kcken

#1: Silence and remove your critics.

    Which other country does this?

  • Treant

Why is Ipumpya Junk given any power or consideration whatsoever at a club that Daddy doesn’t apparently “own” (by which I mean sticks his name on it and takes out laundered money).

Mind you, I’d wear this as a badge of honor, but I’d also make sure to freeze Ipumpya out of any party in DC just for being a complete bitch.

Not, from what I hear, that they’re invited to any of the DC social galas. Everybody hates them. So I guess that’s a plus.

  • safari

    I await her champagne summit.

  • Bambino

He made my daddy/husband look bad!

  • Karl Dubhe 2

I’m going to go out on a limb, but I think Trump’s fear of being poisoned while going out to dinner is understandable. I’d not eat food cooked by other people if I behaved like that. I’d worry too.

    • Treant

I’d at least seriously consider slipping horse laxatives into anything I made for him.

      • Karl Dubhe 2

I like you, come sit by me. 🙂

        • Treant

Sit by you, kneel by you, whatever you want.

          • Karl Dubhe 2

            What I want, I cannot have. 🙁

            Fecking hospital waiting lists.

          • Treant

Been there, done that, but given this flu season? I’d wait a bit on any voluntary surgery unless you’ve already had the flu. Our largest local hospital now has tents outside expanding their emergency room. They’re completely overwhelmed.

What are you in the waiting list for?

          • Karl Dubhe 2

            Anal fissure is infected. 🙁

Motherfucking hellish experience, after the last 6 months I don’t care if they fix it with a dirty saw. I want it done. Before I decide to do it myself.

          • Treant

Ew. Yeah, I hope they get you in for that pretty soon. My ex had one and he was very unhappy until he got it fixed. After that? Short recovery and just fine.

          • Karl Dubhe 2

That’s good to hear, I’m getting stressed out by it.

As for when? Sometime in the next year they tell me. Which is a very long time to wait with this…

            It’s driving me mad.

          • Treant

That seems…odd. Even around here, you can usually get in for voluntary surgery in a few weeks.

I’d be able to schedule in three weeks or so if I decide to do the nose surgery. Which I’m leaning against.

          • Karl Dubhe 2

Canada, so I’ve got to wait my turn. It’s not going to kill me, right?

Although it might drive me to suicide if it goes on much longer…

          • Treant

OK, that appears to be a minor disadvantage of Canadian health care…

          • Karl Dubhe 2

I’m pretty sure if I went to the emergency room I’d get in, but my parents raised me to avoid butting into lines. And doing it that way would end up costing the system more money, which would affect my own taxes. (I’d pay about an extra penny.)

I was told that if it starts to ooze, then I should go to the ER… Ewe.

          • Treant

Personally? You just used the word “suicidal” above, which I know is a bit hyperbolic. But when hyperbole puts you within range of that word, it may be time to go and simply tell them you can’t stand the pain any longer.

That’s what ERs and emergency surgery are there for. I had my gallbladder removed as a semi-emergency (we had some control, but not much), and believe me, it needed to be done.

I wasn’t doubled over, but it was severely impacting my quality of life.

          • Bad Tom

Same deal for me. The pain was out of control; over-the-counter stuff did nothing.

          • Treant

Exactly. There’s no reason to put up with that crap, and that’s what emergency rooms are for–when it becomes intolerable and if you tried everything else, go and get the thing out fast.

          • Bad Tom

Last year I needed elective gallbladder surgery. I didn’t have pancreatitis. Yet. But if you do, your elective surgery becomes EMERGENT, and yeah, you can die.

The surgeon I consulted said two things:

            1) I must first swear to not reveal who told me this.
            (I so swore.)
            2) He said I should go to the ER.
(Which I did at the next episode. It was easy to tell the ER staff that the pain was unbearable, because it was.)

Gallstones hurt like kidney stones. I’ve had them both. You don’t want either.

My primary care physician asked me who the surgeon was. I told her I had promised to not reveal that. She was pissed. I told her I don’t break my word. But I never swore not to say WHAT he told me, just not WHO.

Yeah, the wording your promises counts. 😉

          • Karl Dubhe 2

The next time it burns, I’ll head off to the Royal Alex…

            Crap. 🙁

      • I’ve heard a drop or 2 of Visine™ has a similar effect.

        • Treant

          O RLY? I have to try that…. 🙂

I have on occasion been at lunch or dinner with business associates who surprised me by their behavior towards waitstaff, treating them like slaves or other such rudeness. I used to work in the kitchen of more than one restaurant while working my way through school. I enjoy telling them this advice and then telling them all the shiite I saw done to the food served to douche bags who abuse waitstaff. [Not that I would ever kick a steak across the floor prior to serving it or something equally as unsanitary.]

        • Rudeness to wait staff or other workers is a huge red flag for me. When people show you who they are; believe them.

          • ECarpenter

@Treant – Honey, I think Ivanka is despicable. But not because she’s a woman. She’s despicable because she sells expensive clothes made by third world children and does things like this attack on Chef Andrés, and is profiting hugely from being Trump’s daughter.

When you attack someones’s gender instead of what they’ve done wrong, you just look like a jerk blowing off steam, not someone who actually cares about what’s going on in the world.

          • Treant

Men can be whores, too. Damn block didn’t work, but fortuantely you’re not around much and can be ignored.

          • ECarpenter

But you don’t use the same words to describe men you are upset with as you do women you’re upset with. And you assumed I was a woman and called me a cun t because, of course, only a woman would object to treating women differently than men.

You’ve got a lot more traditional anti-woman crap going on in your head than you seem to be willing to admit. Good luck with that.

          • Treant

You’ve got a lot of accusatory and judgmental shit going on than you would ever want to admit. Good luck with that.

          • ECarpenter

Yes, honey, I’m accusing you of judging women differently than men, and of using emotionally loaded anti-women adjectives when they are not needed or called for. I didn’t make that up, you provided clear evidence of it.

I understand that you don’t want to deal with that, because you think you’re a better person than that implies. So change it, then, and stop being a jerk.

          • ECarpenter

It’s not news when you’re not invited to a party.

  • OdieDenCO

    Deplorable!

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

Isn’t José Andrés the chef who fed thousands and thousands in Puerto Rico after the hurricane – you know, the island the Dotard has completely ignored??
Guess any act of kindness is too much for Kleptanka!
What a perfect candidate for the guillotine.

  • ECarpenter

Ivanka has done lots of things that are valid to criticize, but there’s a section of comments below which seem to be more angry that she’s an uppity woman.

Calling her a bitch or cun t or whore is not addressing the stupid and nasty thing she did to Chef Andrés, it’s making you look like anti-woman assh oles.

Decent outraged patriotic Americans don’t attack people’s genders, they attack people’s bad behavior. Ivanka’s got plenty of bad behavior to attack, concentrate on that.

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

Oh honey, if you honestly think that’s what’s happening here, you haven’t been paying attention. Run along now, important people who matter are talking.

BTW, “Decent outraged patriotic Americans”…You kind of gave yourself away with that.

      • ECarpenter

I was responding to a section of comments below where yes, Ivanka was being attacked with anti-woman rhetoric instead of being attacked for her bad behavior. I does happen here.

And do I really have to mark out “Decent outraged patriotic Americans” as contextually being multi-layered social commentary to prevent it being taken at face value as a middle-America tribe identifier? I thought most Canadians were more sophisticated than that. I’ll try to write more simply.

        • Jean-Marc in Canada

Please. “Decent outraged patriotic Americans” in this context isn’t nuanced or multi-layered, it’s virtue signalling for Bretibart sycophants. As to your other point, Canadians ARE more sophisticated, which is why when we see such virtue signalling language, we call it out. You literally used a phrase so common to the alt-right, it’s a wonder you didn’t have a pic of Richard Spencer posted with it.

Now, IF you are in fact not being dubious, might I suggest that in future you:

          A) not try so hard to castigate without understanding the context in which criticisms are being leveled and

          B) that you be more discerning in your use of language, especially in the use of known dog whistles/virtue signals.

          Trust me, it will help.

As to calling Ivanka whore, bitch, whatever….deal with it. And no, using those terms is not indicative of misogyny anymore than a woman calling a man a prick, dick, etc. would be misandry. What you’re failing to grasp is twofold, one being context, the other perspective. I’ll say no more, but hope you will consider those two words and how they apply, because language, like sexuality, can be fluid.

          • ECarpenter

            Oh, Jean.

You didn’t notice that “Decent outraged patriotic Americans” was paired with advocacy of progressive thought and action in a post that is against the casual mistreatment of women? And then you say *I* don’t understand context?

You defend using misogynistic language attacks instead of explicit criticisms of people’s bad behavior because you think calling names is an effective way to highlight dangerous behavior and bring about social change?

Well, what a poopy-head you are, then!

You probably mean well, but you’re a long way from being able to understand anything but simple written language or to write an effective attack on other people’s bad behavior. Your rhetorical skills are about at middle school playground level, which is fine, but it doesn’t support your smugness.

            Good luck in your endeavors!

          • Jean-Marc in Canada

Oh fake lord, you’re one those, I should have guessed. For you, language is singular and limited; I’d say I’m disappointed but that would require my having a modicum of respect for those who continue, as you did with this “rebuttal” (I’m being generous calling it that), to virtue signal while ignoring reality.

By the way, I’m not smug nor am I arrogant, what I am is something you clearly aren’t. You see, whereas you attempt to be confident and relatively astute in your linguistic acumen, the reality is, you’re nowhere near my level of skill and your confidence? Well, I suspect you have more in common with a Richard Spencer than you do with a Sam Harris. Keep it up though, I have no doubt you’ll succeed some day.

Also, bravo for your attempt at a witty albeit predictably banal rejoinder; but truth be told it’s all rather ordinary. As for my endeavors, given that I am retired, happily married, financial comfortable and have loving friends and family, I’d say my endeavors have borne a rich bounty and will continue to do so for many years to come.

And in case you’re wondering, this is how you dismiss someone.

    • kareemachan

maybe there are comments that point out what a twunt she is.

  • netxtown

    Now I understand completely.
    Twat.

Chef Andres is a true patriot and hero. Iveanka is a spoiled brat.

World Central Kitchen is the NGO that Chef Andres helped found after the big earthquake in Haiti. In addition to the huge service they provided in PR after Maria (and to this day!), they also helped in Houston after the hurricane there and helped feed evacuees and first responders during the Thomas Fire in California.

If you would like to support World Central Kitchen and the work they do you can go to their site and donate.

Dear chef Andrés – thank you for your charitable work. They threw the wrong person out of that party; what has Ivanka done other than produce carbon dioxide?

  • GanymedeRenard

Yeah, he’s just a humdrum cook from Spain who’s credited for bringing the small plates dining concept to the U.S.

He’s just a cook who taught a Culinary Physics course at Harvard University.

He’s just the chair of the advisory board for LA Kitchen, which, according to Wikipedia’s description, is a social enterprise in Los Angeles, California that works to reduce food waste, provide job training, and increase access to nutritious food.

He’s just a cook with the following litany of merits:

Best Chef of the Mid-Atlantic Region (James Beard Foundation, 2003)
Chef of the Year (Bon Appetit, 2004)
    Saveur 100 List (Saveur, 2004)
Men of the Year (GQ, 2009)
Orden de las Artes y las Letras de España – Order of Arts and Letters (Cabinet of Spain, 2010)
Vilcek Prize in Culinary Arts (2010)
Outstanding Chef (James Beard Foundation, 2011)
One of the world’s 100 most influential people (Time, 2012)
    2015 National Humanities Medal
Michelin Guide Washington, DC, 2 Stars for minibar by José Andrés, 2016.

That’s in addition to his many humanitarian efforts to help people in need.

Ivanka Trump? Let’s see… What are her merits again, aside from being a vapid cardboard princess who probably employs children in China? I see.

  • GanymedeRenard

Sorry for reposting, but it boils my blood to see such a wonderful human being treated so contemptuously by the spawn of the Despicable-in-Chief.

Story has changed now…He says Ivanka didn’t have him ousted.. It was a guest list mix up…..Still don’t like her…..but let’s be fair…

    • kareemachan

make up your mind whose side you are on, okay?

    • Scout

Let’s be fair to the chef and not immediately believe a bunch of backpedaling that has nothing to back it up.

  • Ore Carmi

Whose event is this party? If the Alfalfa Club is an independent organization having nothing to do with the Trumps, she had no right to throw out anyone. If it was HER event, it might be a different story…

    • kareemachan

So are you pro-drumpster or not? Inquiring minds want to know….

      • Ore Carmi

Oh, don’t worry, I’m no trumpster.
