Elton John Announces Farewell Tour [VIDEO]

Rolling Stone reports:

At an emotional New York press conference Wednesday, Elton John announced that he will retire from the road after a lengthy farewell tour. “I’m not going to be touring anymore,” he told moderator Anderson Cooper at New York’s Gotham Hall. “I’m not going to be touring and traveling the world. My priorities have changed. I have young children.”

Before he finishes, however, he will spend three years on the road saying goodbye to his fans with a 300-date tour he’s dubbed Farewell Yellow Brick Road. “That doesn’t mean I won’t still be creative,” he said. “But I won’t travel any more…I don’t want to go out with a whimper. I want to go out with a bang…It’ll be the most produced, fantastic show I’ve ever done.”

Many acts – including Cher, Kiss and Ozzy Osbourne – have launched farewell tours only to return to the road just a few years later. But Elton insisted this if for real. “I’m not Cher,” he said. He did say that after a long break following the conclusion of the tour in 2021 he will continue to write and record. “I’m 71. I can’t physically do the traveling anymore. I want to be at home. I really want to spend time with my children at home. I’ve had an incredible life, but life is all about change.”

  • MBear

    Elton who?

  • Lazycrockett

Decorating your mansion in fresh flowers daily ain’t cheap.

  • MT YVR

“I’m not going on the road again. Ever. After the next 3 years on the road. So this is farewell. Until tomorrow night’s show. And the ones for the next 3 years, after. I’m done, I tell you. Done.”

    • Stogiebear

“I don’t want to miss out on my children’s early years or leave all the parenting up to my spouse so I’ll only milk this goodbye tour for the next three years.”

      • GayOldLady

And 300 shows. That’s about 2 shows a week. Bye, bye kids and hubby

      • eddiebeskeddie

I want to watch my kids graduate so I’ll be ending my show over the next 12 years 😉

  • Lazycrockett

Elton would be smart to take up several residencies in a number of countries around the world. Less travel, less prep and you can bring the whole family along.

    • Karl Dubhe 2

      Branson, Mo?

      • Lazycrockett

Be a smart central location in the USA.

        • Karl Dubhe 2

I hear it’s a great place if you like dinner theatre. 🙂

  • saucetin

I’m trying to think of any other 71-year olds who should call it quits post haste

    • Blake Mason

      Ha!

    • John30013

But definitely skip the three-year-long “farewell tour”!

      • saucetin

        Farewell…to democracy (in darkness)

    • KentDean

I can think of one three-year (out of four) tour I’d like to see cut short.

  • another_steve

    Oh please.

For the right money, boy will crawl out of his grave and sing for us.

    • MT YVR

With some of them out there right now I’m not entirely convinced it hasn’t happened. Already. Twice.

      • another_steve

I trust that’s the real Mick Jagger we’ve been seeing and not some fantastic robot replica his estate concocted.

        • MT YVR

I do admit the Rod Stewart jokes on South Park always had me on the floor. They used to wheel him out in a wheelchair where he’d incoherently ramble into a mic on a stage and almost every time it’d end with a vague “ooohIcrappedmypants”.

I’m partial to the idea of the undead performing. We’ve already had the brainless… why not lifeless?

          • another_steve

I’m okay as long as Tony Bennett’s still with us.

          • MT YVR

He wanders. Have you noticed? Interviews are short and pointed and heavily edited. The few times you see him talk for extended periods I do wonder how he’s doing. Singing – still a doll and on point. But I’m not sure all the memories are where he left them.

          • another_steve

Don’t know if you caught the last Library of Congress Gershwin Award TV presentation, MT YVR. Bennett was the awardee.

He ended the evening singing two or three songs. He was magnificent. At age 91, he’s still magnificent.

Long may this amazing man – this amazing talent – prosper.

    • Blake Mason

According to some source he is worth $480m… not hurting for money… a bet he could use an ego boost though.

    • netxtown

I prefer to recognize what he has done for HIV/AIDS via his foundation. I draw a blank when i try to identify any other gay artist – hell, even non-gay – who has done as much for us.

      • another_steve

I agree that his work in that regard has been admirable.

I’m still recovering from the “Eminem” episode, though. I forget how many years ago that was, now. Some reading here may be too young to remember it.

I’m cursed with a long memory.

        • netxtown

The Eminem thing was weird for me as well. I think he was trying to build a bridge to rap so that violent lyrics against gays became meaningless when one of rap’s biggest stars did a duo with a very leading homo.

          • Bluto

I agree, well meaning but very weird. But then there’s singing @ rush limpballs wedding like a filthy money grubbing quisling.

          • netxtown

As i recall, it was the new wife who insisted on EJ for the wedding. Personally, I like that he got a full million bucks out of rush limpballs (aka pussy whipped) for a handful of hours. You gotta believe that Rush was irked beyond measure – but to keep mamma happy – he had to fold.

  • #DJTK5F

    Enough already.

  • Lazycrockett

I have always admired Bernie Taupin. Man has written some of the most beloved songs in pop history, makes bank and doesn’t have to leave his house.

    • Natty Enquirer

The story is that Bernie and Elton never worked together. Bernie would send over a poem and if Elton couldn’t come up with a tune in short order, it would go in the wastebasket.

      • Chef Philips

Never heard that story, and I’ve been listening to and following Elton John since about 1974. It still might be true, of course. I’ve just not heard it or read it.

        • Lumpy Gaga

Again, I recommend Jack White’s “American Epic”.

They literally sit there and wait for Bernie to show up with the lyrics.

          • Chef Philips

            I believe you.

          • Chef Philips

Actually, the accounts I read said the exact opposite, iirc (and methods might have varied during different phases of their careers). Bernie would come up with the lyrics, and it was only then that Elton wrote the music. (How could you compose music without knowing what the song is supposed to be about?)

    • Chef Philips

Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics; Elton wrote the music; so it’s not really fair to say that Taupin “has written some of the most beloved songs in pop history” (i.e., intimating he performed that feat single-handedly)

Change that to “co-written,” and I totally agree.

      • Lazycrockett

Well you write lyrics and compose music. But I get ya.

        • Chef Philips

          Downvoted

        • RemusL

Lyrics without music is just poetry.

  • John Ruff

    Meh

    • Paula

      Quadruple Meh!

      • John Ruff

I mean, it’s not the Elton from 1983. You know what I mean?

        • netxtown

          you mean…he got old?

yes….old people just need to be gone…..I mean…i took down all my mirrors so I don’t have to look at them…

          • Karl Dubhe 2

            Eventually, they too will age.

            If they’re lucky. maybe. 🙂

          • John Ruff

Well, music performance is usually for the young. I saw Ozzy Ozbourne in 1986. I wouldn’t pay to see him perform now

          • netxtown

I don’t make a habit of reading the obits – but there is a small piece of me that does gloat that i have made it this far (45 days short of 63). So when i see a 70 year old entertainer STILL doing his gig…it gives me hope to see that day as well. Some will say its not how long but how well you’ve lived. I call bullshit on that.

          • John Ruff

Well, I wish I had seen Ronnie James Dio before he passed. I saw him in 1987 and he was unbelievable!

          • Lumpy Gaga

            Singing, maybe.

          • John Ruff

            Yep

          • JAKvirginia

Shame. I EARNED every wrinkle I have and wear them with pride.

        • Paula

When he played Limbaugh’s wedding, I was done.

  • Ninja0980

Not bothered at all by this.

  • AtticusP

Again with the farewell tours. How can we miss you if you won’t go away?

    • Robincho

      Forgotten but not gone…

      • Todd20036

Right? I’ve returned his gay card after the Rush Limbaugh wedding.

Saw this early today. Me and my high school sweetheart (yes, she’s a girl!) first saw EJ for his very first US tour way back in the early 70’s…and we are making our plans now. I don’t care how much it costs. It’s on my bucket list now.

Never mind we just saw him a couple years ago for my 60th (HER treat!!!)……

  • John Ruff

“My liquidity is getting a bit low. Time for a Farwell tour!”

  • I like Elton, but a 3 year “farewell tour” is a lame move. Nobody knows what decisions they may want to make or reconsider three years from now.

Plus if it’s for the sake of the children, by time he comes back home, they’ll have spent 1/6 of their childhood without him.

    • netxtown

A three year tour is …a long time! But – I wonder how much of the time is about getting to his fans. I saw him in Miami a couple years back – and not a single ticket remained – and there were still people outside trying to get in!

From his listed tour dates – he has two shows for Houston…and two for Dallas, and two for LA. – with a boatload of NE dates. Yes, there is a whole big bunch of us that grew up with his music.

      • You’re kinda missing the point. He says he’s doing this so he can spend more time with his husband and kids…three years from now.

Normally this is the sort of revelation that causes a person to wrap things up and get on with the “being with family” part.

        • netxtown

Planning, ma’am. it’s all about planning. he’s got a whole host of ’employees’ to consider as well. Also – imagine having a fan base so large and so wide that it does take three years to say goodbye.

          • Lumpy Gaga

Jerry Garcia and Prince worked the road to death to pay the bills and employees. Bowie didn’t want to go out like that.

Financially, it was dicey going for a while, but apparently investing in art did well by him.

          • netxtown

I’ve always heard the the artists get damned little via records sold. They make their money on the road. Sure EJ probably banged down some bucks with GYBR – but he really hasn’t had an album since that held in the charts as long or as well. Hence, he and all the others had to hit the road and sell it. I doubt Cher did the 4 or 5 ‘fairwell’ tours cuz she was bored. Money rules their roost – just like ours.

          • Lumpy Gaga

            Girl.

            Two words.

            Lion King

          • netxtown

oh yea. I forgot about that one….and it did go far and wide!

    • D. Gray

Like he’s not going to see them for three years; right.
He will certainly be back between shows, and I would wager the kids will join parts of the tour. It will be the experience of a lifetime for them.

  • Treant

Is this like Cher, with her 935th Farewell Tour?

    • Lumpy Gaga

I can’t fault these oldsters. No roadwork, no money.

Ain’t nobody buyin’ back catalogue for the 4th time, and in physical sales, catalogue outperforms new music. Sad industry developments all around. It was probably pretty easy for Cher to claim “farewell” back when “Believe” was still a, how you say, “hit” “record”.

  • peacfulseas inWA

I buried Elton John many yrs ago so doubtful he’s making any tour. He was a cat and best bud I’ll never forget. Have no idea who this person is. My sisters named the cat before I got him.

    • Natty Enquirer

Reggie Dwight took the name “Elton” after a saxophonist he had played with.

      • peacfulseas inWA

My Elton would be pleased. But why the down vote he was a great cat who my sisters found in an alley with his innards hanging out, then a battle with distemper and survived the trip to WA.state.

    • if i were that beyotch, i would Run! cash out all her wealth and move to Columbia. she’s got a PhD, i bet she speaks a foreign language or two in countries with no extradition agreement with the US. srsly. i’m not a criminal, and i’m not rich. she is both. i’m betting she called her personal lawyer and she said, “honey, you’re fucked. get out now.” and Miss Coverupgirl decided it was time to leave.

this is really funny, and i’d be going all over it if the topic weren’t so serious. but i did my early academic work at Michigan (Hail, Hail! TVotW!) and it’s really amusing to see MSU get slimed like this. however, in fairness i will say i have little doubt that there are some serious pervs in Michigan sports… it seems endemic these days, and that is the Revolution that the media is working really hard to occlude. do you get it now, guys?

it’s Everywhere. this particular silenced Revolution will not be silenced. because unlike a lot of other topics the Consumer American eventually gets tired of? Sex scandals always sell and generate interest. expect more and more, for at least some long while, in “media years.”

  • i’ll say this before i read the rest of the comments.

never a big fan. he’s way before my time, and his music never really ‘spoke’ to me. always knew he was a closet case, even before i knew what that term meant. not at all impressed by his sucking up to power and fascism (playing Rush’s 4th wedding???) and less so by his constant Drama Queen routine, “It’s all about Meeee!”

meh, i do not put my political eggs in the hands of entertainers, but the ones i do respect? not cowards like him. hemming and hawing about his identity until it was way past ‘daring’ or ‘brave’ and waited until coming out was Fashionable. whatever. oh, and i have no doubt that despite probably being really rich already, this little announcement is mostly designed to get people who are his fans to pay 3X what they would already pay for over inflated concert megahall ticket prices. he can sing. about as well as about the lower half of the Black Church choir at the top of my block. oddly, those folks aren’t rich and nobody cares that if he came here, some of the younger voices would make him cry with just one hymn, they’d clock his ass that hard with song. ymmv.

Good for you Mr. John. I can’t call myself a huge fan, but his contribution has been considerable. One of the first albums I ever owned was his first–the one with “Country Comforts”. So yes, I am an old. But the fact that he wants to nurture his kids, knows that accumulating even more wealth is pointless, and had the wisdom to say, “I’m not Cher.” makes me respect the old pooftah. • Karl Dubhe 2

Wasn’t that betty and the jets? Or bernie?

          Puff, puff; pass.

    • Leo

See, now, this post is important and a big deal, I wouldn’t make that stretch. I’m not a huge fan of Elton but….also how do you know about audience numbers?

    • That_Looks_Delicious

Actually, I tried getting on JMG earlier today (on a laptop with Windows) and gave up in frustration. I had to try reloading pages 2 or 3 times, Disqus never loaded properly, and after spending 30 minutes not able to read anything but the cloned monkey story and not able to post a comment, I threw up my hands and gave up. I have never experienced JMG quite like THAT before! (Note: I also usually get on with either my Chromebook or my Droid phone, like I am now.)

Yeah, something was unbelievably fucked up with JMG, Disqus or both earlier today.

      • Chef Philips

There have been a lot of technical issues as well, with disqus & ???

    • Ross

if you wonder why your audience has shrunk considerably in the past several months

      • Silver Badger

        None that I’ve seen.

      • Chef Philips

I have the evidence of my experience and observations, which are enough for me to form an opinion. Overruled.

        • Ross

Wow. You sound just like a Trump supporter.

          • Chef Philips

I do *not* support the Prez’nit, “Ross.”

    • A post about Elton John going on tour is itself the single least important thing I’ve read all day. Joe’s posts invite opinions. I have one so I shared it. I don’t know if you agreed with it or not, but to be honest I don’t care one way or the other.

Late day posts inevitably also turn into Off-Topic fests. I don’t find them a turn-off at all either. It’s kinda like private twitter, only with generally (but not exclusively) politically like-minded folks.

Plus I learn a lot when peeps find stuff I hadn’t heard or read.

      • Seriously, maybe you can share with us all what you find objectionable about the comment thread? It’s as valid an observation & opinion as any of ours are.

        • netxtown

When i first started reading down through the comments – i was a bit miffed. I’ve been an EJ fan since his first US tour (Yellow Brick Road) – and as such kinda took some of the comments a bit too personally. But, on second read – I realized that music is definitely a personal experience, and sometimes folks just want to bitch, slice and dice to get up voted.

I went to his last tour. He opened with funeral for a friend – and you can bet the tears rolled down my cheeks. He’s still standing. And i don’t give a flippin fuck what anybody else thinks about it. 🙂

      • Refugay

I actually did think to myself that this is not a great posts for the ‘after hours off-topic threads.’

Meanwhile, I’ve been asking myself if I’d go see EJ. My musical mantra is to see everyone I can, that I like, since so many musicians have passed in the past few years. But I think I’ll pass. I’m just not a big fan.

      • Chef Philips

I have no idea what you are talking about

    • whollyfool

Can you please be more specific? I’ve seen a lot of people annoyed by a lot of different behaviors. I love this blog and don’t want to see it diminish.

      • Lumpy Gaga

WELL! JMG used the Brit-ism “To Hospital” in his Assange headline.

Outrage! This is my farewell to JMG. (About three years from now.)

      • Silver Badger

I think a lot of the annoyance is from trolls. The RWNJ faction hates trump and us. They do what they can to sow dissension.,

    • gaycuckhubby

I think the audience is diversifying. Both in opinion and demographics. So we add a lot of off topic posts that interest us

      • Chef Philips

I’m not sure I would use the world “diversify,” but it might be accurate on some level

        • gaycuckhubby

I think there is probably a lower percentage of gay men in here than in the past…
I could be wrong. Just anecdotally speaking

          • Chef Philips

Oh! I do believe you are on to something, there!

    • Silver Badger

I’ve seen lots of new posters. Lets face it though, you can only take so much trump.

    • clay

He can’t keep at it 24-7.

      • Chef Philips

The amount of time is not really relevant. I think the amount of time he spends on it is admirable (however much it is). It is not about that

    • Ross

      So…………..you make a dramatic statement.

But then refuse to articulate WHY you feel as such. And you also offer no evidence to support your “shrinking” statement.

But, previous to making your statement, you wrote:

“Go, Elton! I will be there will bells on”

So, I am gonna take a guess: You love Elton, and are pissed off that not everybody else does in this thread. And you somehow expect Joe to do something about differing options.

      • Chef Philips

Your guess is incorrect, as are the rest of your statements.

  • Leo

The CNN interview I just witnessed was extraordinary. My mom just called me going off on it saying he’d lose his Liberty University presidency. I’m like, as if, they love this. What you are witnessing with it is evangelicals self-immolating.

But still a better memory that the current republicans are making.

No offence. Prairie dogs are becoming rare in Colorado. As the housing developments grow they lose habitat. They are vacuumed out of their homes and relocated as food to predators in captivity.

      • djcoastermark

  • Lumpy Gaga

For those dismissive of Elton (or even if you’re not) I recommend the Jack White movie/documentary “American Epic”. All the other acts did old American music, but Elton was tasked with composing, performing, rehearsing with Jack and recording on the spot once Bernie Taupin dropped off the lyrics.

An impressive thing to watch someone work like that.

    • That_Looks_Delicious

Elton was the very first concert my teenaged self ever went to, at the Colosseum in Cleveland.

Cleveland, musically, was a really happening place in the 60s and 70s, and a lot of it happened at Blossom and the Colosseum. By the time they gave it the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame, it was more of a memory of past grandeur.

My first concert was Prince-Purple Rain Tour at the Saint Paul Civic Center on Christmas Eve 1984. Sheila E. and Apollonia opened. My 14-year old mind got blown. I last saw him in the Prince Piano & Microphone tour at the Paramount Theatre In Oakland on my birthday in February 2016. I also saw him in 1999 at the E Street Block Party in Minneapolis. I didn’t always like his music, and I didn’t always like him, but his songs are a huge part of my life and he always put on a sick show. I cried through nearly the whole Prince Piano & Microphone concert I was so struck by the music and his talent not knowing, of course, that he was about to die.

    • gaycuckhubby

There is no denying his talent and his work in advancing gay recognition and HIV/AIDS research and prevention

    • another_steve

No question that he’s done much good and brought to the world incredible musical artistry.

I’d like him to make amends, though, for the “Eminem episode.”

      I’d appreciate that closure.

    • Do Something Nice

I love/hate Elton. He’s very talented, but when he said that stupid anti-same-sex marriage stuff and then performed at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding, my hate began.

He’s has changed his tune about marriage and that’s good. He is still kind of a privileged jerk. But I love many of his songs.

    • Sam_Handwich

i don’t think he could get even 45-50 on a cloture vote

    • Karl Dubhe 2

Why 20? If you really oppose abortion you should fucking well oppose it.

Ban it altogether, that’s what the religious goon squad wants.

Dumbass tits, with Trump as an example, they should be fully aware of the dangers of getting what you wish for.

      • clay

        lowest limit of viability.

Shittiest thing, if it’s like recent tries in the states, it’s written so poorly that a woman can’t get a (legal) abortion the third term even if the fetus is rotting inside her.

        • Karl Dubhe 2

I’m being slightly bitchy, if you’re going to oppose something because you think it’s murder, than you should be fucking consistent about it. That would mean no, NONE at all, exceptions for any reason. Rape, so what? Incest, will of Gawd, like Lot and his daughters. Accident, too bad. It’ll kill you if you proceed, again will of the Almighty Gawd!

But they don’t do that. Because they’re not really opposed to abortion. They’re opposed to the idea that a woman should be able to control her own body. (actually, I should say person)

          • clay

Yep, though I would stay with “woman” in the last sentence. As a group, they’re also throwing out bills requiring the father’s permission, even for an abortion in the first semester, even for the morning after pill that usually just prevents uterine implantation.

          • Karl Dubhe 2

So would I. I did think about that post. Which is hella rare for me. 🙂

          • JCF

In point of fact, Karl, the anti-choice fetus fascists HAVE gotten closer to the absolute position you indicate above. Many more Rethugs no longer make exceptions for rape, incest or health of the mother, than they used to.

          • Karl Dubhe 2

I know, and if they ever get what they want the suffering they’ll cause…

They’re intrinsically evil. (a fave term of a Catholic Bishop I once knew)

      • DoctorDJ

At 20 weeks an ultrasound will show if the fetus is viable and free of defects.

    • Lumpy Gaga

For big shows these days, ticketing is just a game of Pachinko with a million obstacles in the way: presales, VIP packages, Platinum tickets, StubHub IN THE ARENA (Christ), etc.

For the last 20 years (at least) I’ve been buying my seats for big arena and stadium shows 24-72 hours before curtain. That’s when the set-asides that no press person wants or “VIP seating” that no one paid $500 for has to move.

I watched the video. Two things stood out. The people interviewed said “We believe”. I wonder if they mean their own group or if they think all Americans (all “real” Americans) feel the same.
Also, it’s interesting that one couple at least said rights come from God and are encoded in the Constitution.

When you’re stuck with a zero logical fact based rationale to vote for someone. Jebus.

  • GayOldLady

He’s lost his mind. He’ll be 71 in March and he’s planning on touring for 3 years for what purpose? How much time does he think he has left to devote to his children and spouse? Three years is a long time when you’re 71. He has all the money anyone could ever need, he has worldwide fame, what else could he need from his career. He needs to retire and spend what’s left of his life with his spouse and children.

    • Lazycrockett

He’s very extravagant in his spending. Fresh cut flowers everyday through out his mansion for starters and you know we aint talking a 7 11 bunch.

      • GayOldLady

That’s remarkable. And it proves that no one knows the hour or day of their own death, but average life expectancy is 78 and Elton has already had health issues. I’d think if he seriously wants to spend time with his children he’d get to it sooner rather than later.

      • gaycuckhubby

It’s so weird. I grew up in an evangelical family… we were taught we shouldnt get involved in politics. Never voted and thought both parties were equally misguided.
I thought thats how all christians were until i grew older

        • Cuberly Deux

There’s a history of evangelicals that follows what you speak of. For decades evangelicals kept government far and away from religious matters.

          • JCF

It was after they got so roundly mocked over the Scopes Monkey Trial. Many conservative Protestants (whether you want to call them Fundamentalists, or Evangelicals) dropped out of politics, and didn’t get back in, until (variously) the 1960s (to oppose civil rights), or the 1970s (to oppose abortion, and bussing for school integration, and Teh Gay). Electing Reagan in 1980 was really their Coming Out party [Famous joke around 1980-81: “There’s going to be such a knocking of heads, as those coming out of the woodwork bump into those diving back in the closet.” When you think times are bad NOW, remember THEN…and that was before AIDS!]

That was NOT his position until the GOP won control of the federal government.

On the contrary, Evangelicals have always spent ALL their time preaching sermons, LOUDLY condemning others for their sins, when those others are liberals, progressives, Democrats. They HATED Obama. Did they refrain from judging HIM? Of course not!

Since Trump’s election, their hypocrisy, always disgusting and outrageous, is OFF THE CHARTS.

      • David L. Caster

They don’t feel the need to hide it anymore. Trump has released them from the constraints of communication with innuendo and out-of-context scripture. They don’t have to sound reasonable and measured in their rhetoric because the political vocabulary of Trumpism has legitimized direct expression of hatred, bigotry and greed.

I can tell this since he is now long passed.
He hooked up with some cowboy at the cowboy bar…and somehow or the other wound up with a mustard bottle lodged in his butt…and somehow with the squirter end pointing outward. He tried like hell to just pass it on his own…but every time he put on the pressure…it would squirt mustard. And, when he let off, it would just re-inflate. He finally had to go to the hospital for removal.

OT: Ontario’s Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown has been hit with sexual harassment allegations. Most of his staff resigned immediately when he wouldn’t quit the leadership.

    Brown was a hard-core anti-gay, anti-choicer as a federal MP. To win in Ontario he rebranded himself as hard-core pro-gay, pro-choice, but he’s clearly a say-anything opportunist.

This should kill his chances, making our lesbian premier a shoo-in for re-election.

I hate that these things happen, but I’m always glad when it’s one of the “was always a creep” person like him or Spacey.

Speaking of Elton and Eminem… im over the twitter gays using the term “stans”

    • Silver Badger

Why would they do that? Can you explain?

      • gaycuckhubby

“Stans” is a term referring to overzelous fans of celebrities. Based off of Eninems popular song.
Usually used to critize someones choice in music or acting

        • Lazycrockett

Its a pretty common cultural slang for straight and gays.

          • gaycuckhubby

            Yeah. Agreed.
Im annoyed because it shows up on my timeline by ppl who are too “woke” for their own good. And they try and tear down anyone who is a likes anything they dont approve of

          • Lazycrockett

If it wasn’t “Stans” it would be some other word. I mean fan is taken from fanatic and I think pretty much Eminem is word playing Stan with fan, which fits into the song that he wrote.

It is official – they have run out of original ideas

      • bkmn

Writers, like scientists, are expensive. Unless you are a local periodical that scams writers into writing for free.

        • Lazycrockett

Yep its so much cheaper to reboot old franchises already owned by corporate than to hire writers with new ideas and concepts. Welcome to the world where only shareholders matter.

          • bkmn

That’s been the case for the last three decades or more, and it is now intensifying. They have milked that for all they can so now they have bought the government so they can tax the poor so the rich can have yet another tax cut.

          • Ninja0980

Yup and right now they are doing the nice PR stories while waiting to screw their workers over.

      • gaycuckhubby

I mean, i liked the movie as a kid. And am a huge hockey fan.
        But not feeling this

I’m still miffed the Animated Series only lasted one season.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

Hey, give them credit. The movie industry ran out years ago.

        • Ninja0980

          Yup, look at Disney.

    • bkmn

And the sheeple will be happy to watch, and buy many of the products they advertise during the commercial breaks.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

I’m going to be blunt. If they bothered to ask women and minorities, they’d have a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge batch of new and interesting ideas that would have a large audience. After all, if Pixar can get big crowds by writing about a Mexican tradition with a Mexican hero then they really should stop depending on the same old same old.

      • gaycuckhubby

        👏👏👏👏👏

      • Ninja0980

Ugh, Piers Morgan, only time he was good was on AGT as was noted above….but hey, Trump has rarely done an interview that hasn’t come back to haunt him in some way so we can always hope for that.

          • Reality.Bites

No idea what that stands for.

          • Lazycrockett

            I had to edit

            White Male Privilege.

          • Reality.Bites

Thanks. But still – why bother? Not going to work and wouldn’t change a thing if it did. He’s gonna die long before her sentence kicks in.

Unless of course Trump pardons him and has him run for Senate.

          • Lazycrockett

Cause even at the end he thought he could get away with it and that it wasn’t a big deal. He thinks he is so above it all that what he did to over 100 children is nothing to raise an eye brow about. Even tonight as he sleeps in his cell he shrugs his shoulder and thinks bullshit, I was wronged.

          • Reality.Bites

But he was ALREADY sentenced to 60 years for child pornography in federal charges. This judge could have sentenced him to a $1 fine and he’s still dying in prison.

            Most likely very soon.

    • bkmn

You can bet Trump will tell Sessy to find a way to get her off the bench.

    • Lazycrockett

Well according to some she is being an opportunist by using the camera to further herself.

      • Karl Dubhe 2

It is a reason for not allowing cameras in courts. But I know of judges who would have done the same thing without them.

I’ve never thought they should be allowed, but I’m in Canada and most of us think that.

        • BobSF_94117

Cameras should be required in court, but with delayed release — I’m talking years — unless needed for appeals.

          • Karl Dubhe 2

            Sorry, I disagree.

It was great when Nasser said he wasn’t well enough to be in court for the victim’s impact statements. The judge’s answer was something like, “That’s nice.” She made him stay in the courtroom while all the victims had their chance to speak.

  • OT- The dollar is collapsing against the British Pound. It is retreating right now against other currencies but the Pound is the most dramatic. It is almost where it was before Brexit. Trump’s tariff policy is causing this. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9cdd2f98ae1beb87c2cfdc9a3f1ce9a3aefddec6b4b26d7a7c3b484076cebf3f.jpg

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

Even our dollar is starting to show signs of increasing on the greenback, though not at the same rate. Still, it’s a sign of what’s to come if Trump continues to push for a trade war. Consider also that the TPP is moving forward without any U.S. input or consideration. The world is starting to go around the U.S. on trade matters and that’s on Trump.

      • Trump is a gift to the emerging Chinese Superpower. China was projected to be a co-superpower equal to the USA by 2035 according to last year’s CIA analysis. Why don’t we move that up to 2020 now? Hell, I trust China more than my own country at this point — Xi seems normal and peaceful compared to the shitgibbon.

        • Jean-Marc in Canada

That’s probably a more accurate assessment now. Trump has so disengaged the U.S. from global economic reality for the sake of an outdated isolationist policy, the results will be felt for years. What he’s done to U.S. prestige and its reputation as an honest broker has been remarkable. While the effects won’t be felt to any great degree for a few years, possibly months, once they start to hit, they’re going to hit hard.

As I’ve mentioned before, with Trump trying to play hardball on NAFTA, there’s a grassroots movement here to pull Canada out and try to keep Mexico in the loop. Further, if that were to happen, Americans would see a lot of commodities and resources they now get at preferred cost and access disappear. Electricity in the East would increase due to Ontario and Quebec more than likely increasing costs to global market pricing. Natural gas prices would increase, not to mention lumber, rare ores and minerals (including gold, platinum, uranium, etc.) as well as rare medical isotopes found only in the Canadian shield and the St. James Bay basin. And I haven’t even touched on water, a resource the U.S. under NAFTA has exclusive access to. Consider all this and consider that with TPP around the corner and Canada having ratified the EFTA (European Free Trade Agreement), the U.S. markets are being replaced. If that’s not enough, there’s also the fact that should Trump push too hard, we’ll start selling to China, India, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru, all of who are pretty much begging to deal with us on resource commodities. Sorry for the long post, but this is what’s happening while Trump bloviates and golfs.

“My thoughts are with the brave young women who have spoken out to describe horrible, degrading and unsafe experiences they say happened at the hands of Patrick Brown,”

“I’m disgusted and disturbed by these sexual misconduct allegations,”

“Patrick Brown must resign, immediately. He deserves his day in court, but no person can lead a political party in this province with allegations like these hanging over his head.”

I love his music, but I am sure he is fairly tired of trotting out the same tunes year after year. It’s why I never aspired to be a professional musician. I had a friend who was determined to make a living out of playing the piano. He went to Las Vegas and had to play 6 or 7 different lounges every day just to make ends meet. After playing “Stardust” for the thousandth time, he just chucked it. It just drove him out of his mind after awhile! He went into real estate and never touched the piano after that last gig in Vegas.
