REPORT: Trump Imitates Accent Of Indian PM

Buried in a report from the Washington Post:

Senior administration officials said that the president has been known to affect an Indian accent and imitate Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who in an Oval Office meeting last year told him, “Never has a country given so much away for so little in return” as the United States in Afghanistan. To Trump, Modi’s statement was proof that the rest of the world viewed the United States as being duped and taken advantage of in Afghanistan, these officials said.

What’s wrong with people? The guy just got deported last week that has been here 30 years since he was 8 ! It’s happening every day.

O/T: Regarding that CR — something shady is going down https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/shutdown/card/1516648991

As Congress moves towards a final vote on the bill to reopen the government, the bipartisan leadership of the Senate Intelligence Committee came to the Senate floor on Monday afternoon to make a last ditch effort to strip a provision from the spending bill that they say impacts Congress’s ability to properly supervise intelligence agencies.

The House version of the spending bill released last week contained a provision that allows the Trump administration to spend funds on intelligence activities that were not specifically authorized by Congress — sidestepping a longstanding law that requires congressional notification and authorization of such spending and activity.

House appropriators said the provision was added at the request of the Trump administration. The White House, Pentagon and Office of Management and Budget did not respond to questions about why they felt the provision was necessary. The measure is unlikely to imperil the final passage of the bill.

    • Do Something Nice

Don’t worry. Democrats say everything is OK.

    • SkokieGuy [Snark McSnarkyface]

Yup. Frightened the crap out of me too. Without a budget resolution to defund an investigation, they can just reappropriate, for example to investigate Hillary’s emails or uranium sales, therefore effectively stopping a real investigation. BUT in three weeks we get to do this again, so does the provision only last for the duration of the CR, unless put into the next CR?

      • RJ Bone

There is a lot that can happen in three weeks. Spying, placing bugs, etc.

    • zhera

“House appropriators said the provision was added at the request of the Trump administration.”

Gee, and what intelligence activities would the administration be interested in?

This is blatantly fascism! How can this be accepted by the Dems?!?!?!?

      • safari

How did this only now come to my attention?

        • Karl Dubhe 2

Step C wasn’t so far from step B, and then step D happened before we could protest step C. Now we’re on step K, and I can’t remember if the alphabet’s been repeated once or twice…

    • Do Something Nice

      We are so fucked.

“The Trump administration is considering a set of proposals developed by Blackwater founder Erik Prince and a retired CIA officer — with assistance from Oliver North, a key figure in the Iran-Contra scandal — to provide CIA Director Mike Pompeo and the White House with a global, private spy network that would circumvent official U.S.
intelligence agencies, according to several current and former U.S. intelligence officials and others familiar with the proposals.”

      https://theintercept.com/2017/12/04/trump-white-house-weighing-plans-for-private-spies-to-counter-deep-state-enemies/

      • RJ Bone

Hell, that fucker didn’t even need Erik Prince for that. All he had to do was read up on pre World War 2…

    • Galvestonian

Where the hell is Mueller ??? – Nail this this ‘mo-fo’ and his Republican toadies so the they can get a fair trial and then we’ll hang their fat asses before the country is completely destroyed.

    • thatotherjean

“The measure is unlikely to imperil the final passage of the bill.”

It damn well should stop it cold. Without theCongressional authorization requirement, the administration can snoop on whatever and whomever it likes.

  • Chuck in NYC

I hope people’s memories are long enough to recall the horrors inflicted upon women under the Taliban (articles and news reports I seriously doubt Trump paid any attention to). I assume the same thing continues in areas the Taliban still controls. Yes, the U.S. has sacrificed much to be in Afghanistan, but there are some morally right reasons to be there.

    • zhera

I’m not really disagreeing with you, but by that logic it is morally right to invade a whole bunch of countries.

The war mongers never cared about the Afghan women; it was an excuse just like Saddam and his non-existing WMD in Iraq.

      • Chuck in NYC

That was just one reason — I raised it because it’s almost never talked about after all these years.

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

Did he draw a red dot on his forehead too?

    • David Walker

Maybe it should be seen as a variation on last year’s barging to the front at a NATO photo op. (Or was it the G7?)

      • coram nobis

That was at the NATO summit, where he shoved the PM of Montenegro aside. Montenegro, you see, had just joined NATO, over Putin’s objections, in part because they didn’t want to get pushed around.

Nato. He wanted to stand next to the top Nato guy.

    Just stop.
    Stop being you.

  • HZ81

I can’t believe it!!! No. Not this… man. No.

    • David Walker

I know. And we had such high hopes for him. A sterling citizen. A pillar of the community. A real estate developer second to none. A family man with a nice, conservative wife. And people keep telling lies about him. They are so nasty toward him. It’s just awful. Some days I can’t believe how disrespectful American citizens can be. I mean, look at all he’s done, just in the last year. And still people make fun of him, deride him, hope for impeachment. I don’t know. I just don’t know. Oh…/s

      • zhera

I honestly thought he’d say something nasty about the Norwegian PM when she was in DC. But I guess throwing money at him (buying fighter jets) makes him blind to someone’s less than perfect body.

      • Gianni

I know, I know. What I can’t understand is why? It’s not like Donnie ever treated anyone else that way. He wouldn’t lie if his mother’s life depended on it. And Lord knows, he’d never insult, mock, demean, denigrate, belittle, defame, or in any way say unkind things about another person. He’s a veritable paragon of kindness, consideration, caring, truthfulness, honesty, forthrightness, compassion, understanding, and respect for others and the lofty and important position he has been placed in. AND his favorite book is The Bible. That must say something.

        • David Walker

It says I should use your thesaurus.

      • HZ81

They just disrespect the office of the POTUS when they make fun of him. They take the whole office by its no-no holes and grab the shit out of it.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

There is no bottom for childish fuckery.

I’m surprised he hasn’t started a GoFundMe yet, just to see how stupid his stupid base is.

    • another_steve

This is not “childish fuckery.” This is “New York City mob-mentality fuckery.”

Now that is the one thing that is totally beyond the genius’ countless capabilities.

      • (((GC)))

Now that is a stable fact!

And it’s a reason I’d have very mixed feeling if Popular Vote Loser were to be impeached and removed right now. Mike Pence is a dangerous theocrat, and someone who can pass for a normal adult politician, or a president, even.

With enough evidence on Pence, and with a Democratic Senate… “President Pelosi” has a nice ring to it! (And without impeachment and removal, and with a Democratic Congress, Dolt 45* can be neutered and contained.)

  • netxtown

    stupid > stupider > stupidest
    donnie’s got the bases loaded.

  • ByronK

Not a single fucking day goes by… If there was any justice, a foreign leader would hitch up his pants, stand in the same room as Trump, and imitate his mind-numbingly irritating speech patterns, mispronunciations, and senseless hand-punctuation, and then just chuckle and announce that it’s all in good fun. “I’ve made a stupendous, beautiful trade deal with Jina, the biggest trade deal in the history of mankind, let me tell you and you better believe me when I say that those little yellow guys worship me like the white god I am. Everyone in Jina talks about it, believe me. In a few months time, we’ll be producing or own fortune crackers with the little notes in them by the billions!”

    • Rick Jackson

I just want to see Macron or Merkel deck him. I’m fairly certain it will never happen, but it would be delicious.

Human orgasm is thought to serve therapeutic purposes. A “fire-hosing” of the internal tubing, ridding the body of potentially harmful biological accumulations.

        This makes sense to me.

Certain young men, for instance, are prone to “wet dreams” – orgasms in their semi-sleep state.

I know people are worried about Dreamers but this should have people extremely worried (and in the streets) too. ICE is going after a DOCTOR, originally from Poland, who has a permanent green card and has been in the US for forty years.

Let’s see if California jails and law enforcement cooperate if ICE rounds up another 1500 of them. A crackdown seems to be imminent.

      • SoCalGal20

People should have been in the streets about ICE a long time ago. How long before they start rounding up American citizens for “aiding” non-citizens or some other trumped up shit?

        • zhera

From over here it looks like the American public is the frog in the pan. The water isn’t boiling yet but there’s steam.

By the time the deportations/concentration camps begin, you’ll (the public in general) be so exhausted with all the scandals and outrage that marching for justice and democracy just won’t happen.

          /feeling pessimistic

          • SoCalGal20

We need to be getting millions of people out in the streets more than once a year, for sure.

          • SoCalGal20

Detroit has a LOT of immigrants. This is the shit ICE is doing there for years. The woman who is in charge there was at least partially checked during the Obama administration but now? It’s open season on immigrants. This thread isn’t very long but it cites several incidents including ones during the Obama administration.

            From Rude Pundit’s blog:

It’s fucking gut check time. We are into “First they came for” territory. We’ve gone from the undocumented immigrants to the Dreamers to legal residents. When will we speak out? When will we act? Or will we once again wait until it is us?

At one time, one became a citizen if you married one. Has that changed?

      • SoCalGal20

You still have to apply and go through the process. It’s not automatic. I think you get permanent resident status automatically. I have a friend whose family came from Mexico then overstayed their visa. They were able to get legal status during one of the amnesty periods. She married an American but never bothered to go through the citizenship process, though during the W years she considered doing it. I haven’t been in touch with her in a while so I don’t know if she has since done it.

        • Silver Badger

          Thank you.

I think it has. I’m seeing stories of undocumented immigrants married to U.S. citizens getting deported All.The.Time. now…

Wow! America surely has gone a long way from what it was during the World Wars. From the 14 points of President Wilson and FDR’s ‘Mighty Endeavour’, that time when America fought for the sake of principle rather than for what America can gain as loot or conquered lands. Trump’s vision is an abrogation of more than seventy years of American foreign and defence policy, a defeat for democracy and the rule of law.
