BUTTHURT: Trump Heckles Women’s March Attendees

Mother Jones reports:

One year after millions of people took to the streets to protest the inauguration of President Donald Trump, activists this weekend are gathering to continue the momentum sparked by the historic Women’s March with new rallies in New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and beyond.

Trump weighed in on the nationwide marches with a trolling tweet that casted the demonstrations as a celebration of his administration’s achievements. In turn, many, including several Democratic lawmakers, poured in on social media to mock the president.

      Defenestrate, though, I’d do that!

Has Mulvaney started talking about euthanizing the disabled yet?

      • TrollopeReader

Oh good lord … i have enough problems with asthma / non-smoker COPD, etc etc !!

    • Are they talking about releasing the memo?

  • Todd20036

And this is why I’m ok with the shutdown. Trump’s 1 year anniversary as president is marked by a government shutdown, a 1 party forced passing of a tax scam that helps only top earners, and a stolen SCOTUS seat.

And he celebrates it with a heckling tweet.

Nazis really don’t know how to run the country. The GOP pretty much forgot how back in the 1990s and never relearned.

SoDak is a very right wing state – kudos to the women for showing up!

      • Christian1234567

So are other states in which many women are marching (e.g. ND, MT, ID, TX)!

        • Christian1234567

I just googled “Women’s March in Montana” and looked at the images. There are a lot more people than I thought! I did the same for North Dakota, and in a very red, rural state, more than 500 people showed up for the Women’s March at the ND capitol. This is in winter in ND, and the roads are probably awful.

          • Butch

Women’s marches were planned in Marquette and Houghton, but the media is pretty limited up here and I haven’t been able to find out anything other than the fact that they were planned.

        • Mark

They’re marching in Prescott, AZ! My hubby’s 68 yo sister is there and even his 93 yo mother wanted to go but is just out of rehab for a broken arm. She’s a feisty one!

  • “They’re shouting, ‘Boo-urns!'”

The weathermen all said it would be sunny and 70 degrees today. It’s cold, damp and cloudy. The dogs don’t even want to get out of bed.

    • Treant

Yeah, 50, cloudy, and extremely moist. My husband is currently occupying the master bedroom with the dogs. I’m up and about, but not by a great deal.

  • Kruhn

“Beautiful weather all over our great country, a perfect day for all Women to March. Get out there now to celebrate the historic milestones and unprecedented economic success and wealth creation that has taken place over the last 12 months. Lowest female unemployment in 18 years!”

  • Ninja0980

Marches are great but we need to make sure all of these people are going to the voting booth this fall if we really want to send a message.

    • SoCalGal20

The theme is Power to the Polls.

And there are all kinds of efforts across the country to get people registered, help them get registered in states that make it very difficult, and get people out to vote. Dems have been turning out in the specials, as Doug Jones’ win, and the VA and NJ elections showed. Obviously we do have to make sure people get out and vote but so far? They’re voting.

      • Ninja0980

        Good, let’s hope that continues.

    • jeffg166

Yes, it has to be hammered home until November 6th.

    • Chucktech

If people are motivated enough to protest in these numbers one year after Trump, I fully expect they’ll be motivated enough to vote.

Perhaps what I should say is that if they’re motivated enough to protest in these numbers now, there’s no excuse not to get their asses to the polls and vote.

    • Zeldacat

They were signing people up to vote here. I hope they keep that up; I don’t think many who weren’t signed up would have gone this morning. Some did, though. But that was a major focus – vote!

    • M Jackson

These people will vote. We need to get more minds engaged and butts off of the sofa next fall.

  • Blake J Butler

Representative Patrick Meehan, a Pennsylvania Republican who has taken a leading role in fighting sexual harassment in Congress, used thousands of dollars in taxpayer money to settle his own misconduct complaint after a former aide accused him last year of making unwanted romantic overtures to her, according to several people familiar with the settlement.

        • Jukesgrrl

Yes, especially since they don’t have a candidate recognizable to the voters. They need to find a qualified WOMAN. Sestak used to represent that district but I doubt he would go back after the way the DNC treated him in his Senate campaign.

    • He (Meehan) was hoping to hide in plain sight. Thankfully, his days of hiding are over.

  • 🐾vorpal🐾

    Be fair, you guys.
Trump accomplished a lot during his first year: eliminating environmental protections, destroying US world relations, set new thresholds for stupid and bad games of golf, and and brought us our first taste of the exotic product of covfefe.

Now that he’s done (one might assume that a total year of ego masturbation would result in at least a small refractory window for opportunity), he’s stretched and wretched and ready to #MAGA!!!

    • Christopher

Don’t forget that he’s also introduced a new generation to the horrors of a possible nuclear war.

Just a heads up, prior to Stephen Miller joining the Trump cult he was neck deep in the MRA movement.

    • kareemachan

Well, she *did* have to spank him….

  • Halou

“….to celebrate the historic milestones and unprecedented economic success and wealth creation that has taken place over the last 12 months”

    Milestones such as…
1869: Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton found the National Woman Suffrage Association.
1920: Women are granted the right to vote.
1981: Sandra Day O’Connor becomes the first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
1983: Sally Ride becomes the first woman in space.
2005: Hillary Clinton becomes the first First Lady to be elected to public office.

None of these happened within the last 12 months.
None of these have anything to do with “wealth creation”, most of which is reserved for the top 1% but that’s besides the point right now.
None of these are indicative of, nor a result of economic success either. Economic success that, it must be said, started a lot longer than 12 months ago and was a lot better then than it has been in the last 12 months.

We are talking about civil rights issues, not money. Civil rights. We are talking about women taking up careers that were previously denied them and succeeding on merit, not corrupt practices or nepotism alone (looking at you, Ivanka). Money is irrelevant here, and it always has been. A shame that Trump is so greedy and single-minded he cannot see it.

    • kareemachan

Also, he and the repugs wanted to do away with tax help for grad students. Yo, asshat, women make up a substantial percentage of grad students. Some of them will, if given the chance, make discoveries and help the economy later on.

      • Halou

He wont be president if/when that happens so he can’t take all the credit, he doesn’t care.
