White House Doctor: Trump Is In “Excellent Health”

Talking Points Memo reports:

The White House physician on Friday declared President Donald Trump “in excellent health” after Trump received his first annual physical exam while in office.

“The President’s physical exam today at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center went exceptionally well,” Dr. Ronny Jackson said in a statement. “The President is in excellent health and I look forward to briefing some of the details on Tuesday.” Jackson is a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy and has served as physician to the President since 2013.

Trump’s personal doctor, Dr. Harold N. Bornstein of Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital, in 2015 claimed that Trump would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency” if he won the 2016 election.

Any doctor who can’t diagnose Trump as demented should have his/her license terminated.

      • FAEN

This doctor was appointed by President Obama so again, this is baffling.

        • Xaca

          Who appointed James Comey?

          Obama’s administration was not infallible.

      • Reality.Bites

Most doctors would not make that diagnosis, not being specialized in the field.

Most would suspect it, of course, but that’s not the job he’s being paid to do.

We might not like that, but it’s not. He is not being asked to evaluate Trump’s mental or emotional condition and he’s not going to. That has absolutely nothing to do with his competence. He is not the proper target for your anger and frustration

        • Xaca

REPEAT: Any physician administering a physical to Trump who does not, at a minimum, refer him to a neurologist for further evaluation would be guilty of malpractice. Point. End of story.

  • BlackGayVeganAtheist

It is extremely unlikely that a medical doctor wrote that note. Far more likely is that Steven Miller, or one of his other white supremacist gangster staff members wrote it.

    • vorpal

I couldn’t care less. A 70-something year old in that shape, with that diet, who does that little exercise, who has constant anger problems, who sleeps that little, and who has that pallor of skin is not healthy.

    From the comments:

First and foremost, the statement was put out by the White House, not the physician. Second, Dr. Jackson can be ordered to present a false narrative in terms of Donald’s health as long as it isn’t illegal.

Now, I am not versed on what can or can not be released as this White House has been built on LIES and DECEPTION

Only is an alternative universe can a man who is:

    71 years old

-is visibly 25-40 or more pounds overweight. Visibly bloated from fluid retention.

-has terrible jaundice colored skin which is why he uses spray tan.

-eyes are bloodshot and yellowing in some photos.

-daily meals consist on cheeseburgers, taco bowls, fries and KFC.

-drinks close to a dozens cans on Diet Coke a day.

-cannot walk 9 holes of a golf course.

-in giving a speech is winded after bout 5 minutes or less with rattling dentures.

-gets confused during speech which he covers by repeating himself.

-gets confused and walks off when doing public paper signings and has to be led back to the desk.

-walks off Air Force 1 and can’ find the car even though it’s right next to the plane.

Yet he is in excellent health? If this is the quality of care our US military personnel and veterans receive it’s no wonder there are so many chronically ill veterans and military personnel in our armed forces.

    • Bambino

It’s like those professionals hire to testify in court. They can spin which ever way the defense attorney or the prosecutor desire.

    • Todd20036

Trump isn’t 25-40 pounds overweight. He’s more like 80-120 pounds overweight

      • William

Trump is three feet underheight for his weight.

        • David Walker

          • Order him to keep the medical information private and release White-house lies.

          • OdieDenCO

nor can he be ordered to put his name to a falsified document.

          • Not the same as saying shithole is in good health with no reference to the doctor.

    • Reality.Bites

There were basic results released for Obama – height, weight, fasting glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, pulse rate and blood pressure.

If the same numbers aren’t released for Trump, they’re hiding something.

It is, BTW, entirely possible to be as overweight as Trump and have fine measurements in all these things.

Physically Trump is basically my mother except she eats her steak medium rare and doesn’t use ketchup. AND she also smoked for about 65 years. And she’s 13 years older than him.

      • BlackGayVeganAtheist

        EXACTLY…

          • Galvestonian

Naaaaw … not totally vegetative, we want something there where we can see his desperation, pain, possibly the anger and humiliation that’ll exist because ’cause of the bowel and urinary incontinence and include his realization that life sentences for members of his worthless family in Federal Prisons have been verified and the fact that his Presidency goes down into history as the biggest colossal failure in the entire history of the United States because it’s responsible for the total collapse of the Republican Party and disgrace of most of its members.

    • John Ruff

He’s in perfect health for a piece of garbage.

    • I didn’t know he could be ordered to put out a false statement. I knew HIPAA prevents him from putting out true info without Trump’s authorization, but I assumed details would be omitted but not changed.

Reporters should ask to see the actual blood pressure numbers and other data points, and ask why not if the WH refuses.

      • margaretpoa

They can ask but HIPPA also prevents that without consent from the patient and we all know Trump will never agree to that,

        • Of course. But the media can then dismiss the report as blather if they refuse to disclose actual numbers to back up the hyperbole.

  • billbear1961

    Trump in “Excellent Health”

Donald Trump had his physical today, and the preliminary report from Dr. Ronny Jackson is that the President is in “excellent health.” A fuller accounting of the results will be released sometime next week.

This tells us…not very much. There really wasn’t much question that Trump is physically in OK shape (particularly for a 71-year-old with poor exercise and diet habits). Further, Jackson cannot release adverse information unless he is authorized to do so, which Trump surely would never do. So, we can hardly be confident we’re getting the full picture. Most significantly, there was no testing of the President’s mental fitness. Or, if there was, we’re not going to learn about it. Consequently, the biggest question about Trump’s health, at least for most people, remains unanswered.

    http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2018/Senate/Maps/Jan13.html#item-6

    • Longpole

Right, and he never released his tax records so I don’t expect any important info to be released about his health either.

    • Menergy

How about Dump’s recorded physical uncertainty with stairs? Not to mention the demonstrated obvious obesity….and the confusion with his surroundings at times (mentioned above about the waiting vehicle on the tarmac, mixing up people he’s supposed to greet, etc. Or the repetitive or strange speech patterns.

      • David Walker

And then there was the Poland speech. He stood at the podium for quite some time after the applause diminished, then took a tour of the stage, looking as if he were receiving yuge accolades from the dispersing crowds. And no one helped him offstage for quite a bit, which I found interesting.

I’m angry and sad that Jeebus, guns and white privilege is what makes people vote against all of the above. I swear you ask why they don’t vote for any of the above to a forced birther and they look at you blankly.

      • Uncle Mark

It’s so true. I have a sister, who was disgusted by the pussygrabbing video, but found a way to vote for Trump because of abortion (the first & foremost issue to her). I had Jeebus-freaks argue with me on Twitter, and to them it’s all about abortion. They don’t care about people being denied healthcare, or the non-funding of the CHIPS program for children. They won’t don’t even support a healthcare bill that provides pre-natal care…because “clean living and gawd will provide.” I was told that in essence that all other sin is irrelevant, because “abortion is the true and most corrupting sin.” It didn’t matter what other evils their Orange Messiah engaged in.

I had no idea that (Stephen King’s) Carrie’s mom had so many sisters

        • William

Tell them that sex causes abortion.

          • Paul

Tell them that god causes the majority of abortions.

    • narutomania

And don’t forget to highlight the RAMPANT GUN VIOLENCE which leads the developed world in gun-related deaths.

“Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the United States’ gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. And, even though the United States’ suicide rate is similar to other countries, the nation’s gun-related suicide rate is eight times higher than other high-income countries, researchers said.

The study was published online Feb. 1 in The American Journal of Medicine.”

      • Paul

And the most recent gun related outrage in Norway was a far right nazi shooting dead a load of children.

    • zhera

      Correction:

      – Birth control is not free, but it is easily available.

      – Pay equality is still not achieved. Better then other countries, though.

      – Strict gun control? All is relative. It’s better than the US, but the Utøya terrorist had no problem stocking up on weapons.

They can test hemolymph, can’t they?

    • thatotherjean

Can’t do that without Trump’s permission. If his stats are less than excellent, which is certainly likely, do you think he’s going to give it?

  • pablo

Was I the only one hoping that Trump would come out of that examination boasting of having the biggest, most fantastic brain tumor the world has ever scene?

Rachel debunked this last night, the WH spelled Ronny wrong so this didn’t come from the Doctor.

    • Natty Enquirer

It was a quote in a Huckabee-Sanders tweet with the name as an attribution, not a signature.

      • evan_or

        Sure, it was a “quote”.

  • That_Looks_Delicious
  • Richard Rush

Any reasonably informed doctor would certainly be concerned that their medical practice could descend into a sinkhole if they didn’t speak glowingly about the health of an asshole who didn’t hesitate to denigrate entire nations by referring to them as shitholes.

    • ChrisMorley

His job is safe. He’s not appointed by tRump.

The Physician to the President … is director of the White House Medical Unit, a unit of the White House Military Office responsible for the medical needs of the President of the United States, Vice President, White House staff, and visitors.

He can only release details of the tRump’s medical with his consent, because of medical confidentiality.

There is a long tradition of WH Physicians being economical with the truth / inventive / forgetful regarding published details.

  • jmax

Maybe the doctor mistakenly released his statement from last year and is referring to Obama’s last physical. After all, he just mentions “The President”. He doesn’t say which one 😒.

  • boobert

I went searching for that statement last night. It wasn’t on the white house page or twitter. Just where did it come from? Moose sanders twitter? When you go on it now ,it’s spelled ronny. The MSNBC copy says ronnie. Does anyone have an original one from moose spelled ronnie , or did MSNBC change it? When that statement from bornstein came out, it was reported that it came from trump and was hand delivered to the doctor to sign it. I suspect the same happened here. Dr Jackson is putting his reputation at risk if he doesn’t clarify that he wrote that or not. Or they threatened him and we’ll never know.

    • Natty Enquirer

It was a tweet from Sarah Huckabee-Sanders. She supposedly quoted Jackson and misspelled his name. The tweet has since been corrected.

  • DaddyRay

  • musiclover703

Rachel Maddow reported last night (with a screen shot of the statement) that it was signed “Dr. Ronnie Jackson” whereas the correct spelling of Dr. Jackson’s first name is “Ronny.” This made her suspect that the statement came from the White House press office, not from the doctor himself. Given this regime’s sketchy relationship with the truth, there’s certainly an argument to be made for viewing this press statement with skepticism.

  • Halou

As Trump is the C&C of the US military, wouldn’t a naval physician have to say what he is ordered to say?

    • margaretpoa

HIPPA did prevent the physician from sharing significant medical information. Jackson didn’t write that.

Obama’s last results mention they were released with his permission.

    • stevenj

“The president is in excellent health”.
Would you take that at face value considering the lies/deception coming out of this administration? There is no way to know if the president is in excellent health without actually seeing test results. Even better, test results from the last physical to compare with this one. Will the results be revealed? LOL

  • Boreal

Excellent health, must be true like every other thing we’re told by this administration.

    • TampaDink

Horrifying, we do have a very dark past, most of us would like to believe that we are better in the present but every day, news headlines tell me otherwise.

      • SoCalGal20

I think overall we are are “better”. Unfortunately, there are still (and probably always will be tbh) horrible people filled with hatred out there.

        • TampaDink

I agree with Mr. Powell, under hair furor, there is growing divide & at his dog whistle urging shit like what happened to that poor man in 1930 will resume. It only takes good people who do nothing in the face of so many injustices.

          • Christopher

I would like to say that “I pity the person that comes to our house trying to sell that bullshit.”, but I don’t.

Anyone who comes to my house selling ANYTHING that resembles a Cheetolini policy, better have good running shoes.

I’m done giving lip service to those espousing Trump’s rhetoric. They will all get a full earful of what I have to say.

            They have two options:

            1) Stand there and listen to it.

            OR

            2) Leave/Walk Away.

There is no middle ground to be had with these “people”. Dialogue is impossible.

And if they choose to not leave, well…(The Republicans have reminded me that I have Second Amendment rights when it comes to trespassers on my property.)

        • Christopher

I think the only way we are “better” in this country today is that there seem to be a lot less lynchings in The South.

Otherwise, they just got better at hiding who they truly are.

    • SoCalGal20

This thread is horrifying and not surprising, unfortunately.

As has become readily apparent, racism never went away it just festered and hid and seethed in the shadows until it was “safe” to come out again.

    • JCF

When you look at Mr Powell, you see why those racist courthouse employees felt so free to let it fly. It’s somehow reassuring to know we have Resistors who look like Powell—who can so easily infiltrate the DrumpfenKorp.

I’ve read previous descriptions of lynchings, so nothing in the thread shocked me (What, no emasculation? Maybe the contemporary reporters shied away from reporting that.) But it is so important to remember that those days were but the blink-of-an-eye in the past…and the attitudes that produced these horrors are STILL around.

  • geoffalnutt

As always – the guy was paid off. It’s how Trump rolls. Yawn. He was paid to disappear. The White House even spelled his name wrong in their lie.

  • Happy_Housewife

I’m not one for Nazi comparisons, but it does remind one of how the Party kept talking about how fit Hitler was up until he killed himself.

And it just shows how dumb they are. Of course we would expect a man of his age and weight to have a few health issues. If they had half a brain amongst them, they would have said something like he he has a slight blood pressure issue and needs to lose a few pounds. They could have even made that into a folksy aw-shucks sort of thing that might have endeared him to some of the denser citizens. But they had to go all Goebbels on us.

I also wonder if this wasn’t the doctor’s statement. I’ll be interested to see if he corrects it in the interest of his professional reputation.

    • Steven B

Rachel Maddow spoke on this last night. The language in the report was suspiciously non-medical and the doctor’s name was misspelled.

    • Reality.Bites

OTOH, those ailments could well have been diagnosed 10 or 20 years ago and being treated. None of my test results would indicate I have high cholesterol and Type 2 because they’re being treated. Of course my medical records would also indicate that, but if I only told you my bloodwork results you’d assume I’m in great shape.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out last night, the language in the report was suspiciously non-medical. I can attest to this as a retired medical provider.
But more to the point, the doctor’s name on the report was misspelled. His NAME was MISSPELLED!!!
IOW we’ve been lied to yet again!

    • William

Cyanide is said to taste like almonds.

As far as I am concerned, as a physician, BOTH of those ‘doctors’ should have their licenses pulled, IMMEDIATELY. And they should be expelled from all medical associations.

Yeah, and ‘positive’ test results mean that all the tests showed that he has everything they tested for. ‘Negative’ test results mean nothing they were looking for showed up in the tests.

  • RJ Bone

There’s no way that man is in “excellent health”. I had a feeling it would go this way. 🙁

They are not obligated to EVER tell us the truth. All they need to do is offhandedly sort of wave their hands in the general direction of national security. Certain administrations will be more trustworthy but even they can lie about anything with that justification.

When are we going to do something serious about this administration, finally?

  • Jean-Marc in Canada
  • This report is not true.

The White House press office issued a press release purporting to be from Dr. Jackson, less than 30 minutes after the exam took place. In it, they both misspelled his first name as “Ronnie” and did not use his usual self-identification, which does not include calling himself ‘Doctor.’

Moreover, the timing of the WH release came long before it would have been possible to complete the various blood tests routinely done. A Friday exam followed by the reported Tuesday general availability would be the right amount of time, according to experts.

Basically, we will not see the real report, which is supposed to look like this:
    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/8878ecd9c0c7fb45bc0eba2fa567b3235149e71d3dda97159cc13c0e78c17821.jpg

There’s no way in hell we’ll see this level of detail, and so I would ask folks to please refrain from assuming Jackson’s been paid off. This WH LIES about everything and they’ll gladly attempt to steal someone else’s professional reputation to do it.

  • NZArtist

Time for a candid talk about healthcare in the USA vs the rest of the civilized world.
My father has just had hip replacement surgery. He’s eighty-something years old. Including surgery, hospital stay, transportation and nursing care the total cost to him was zero dollars.
Yesterday a good friend of mine slid out on his motorcycle and ended up on the side of the road with the motorcycle on top of him. He fractured his wrist. He’s had X-Ray, CT scan, will need surgery, and has had an overnight stay in hospital. He’ll need physical therapy and will be in a cast. The total cost to him for this care will be exactly zero dollars.
No-one has to compromise on medical care because of the cost. Why the hell is medical care so bad in that shithole country across the pacific?

  • danolgb

Dr. Jackson, Blink twice if you’re being held against your will.
