Trump SoHo Hotel Has Been “Put Out Of Its Misery”

Fortune reports:

The embattled Trump SoHo Hotel was finally put out of its misery last night. As of midnight on Thursday, the business now operates as The Dominick Hotel. The property will be run by an affiliate of CIM Group, which has owned the hotel since 2014. Hotel staff and guests who have already made bookings will not be affected by the change.

The change follows a Trump Organization announcement in November that they would walk away from the hotel, the success of which has not been helped by Donald Trump’s political career: a year ago, basketball star LeBron James refused to stay in the hotel on political grounds and room prices have been falling throughout the year.

Remember if you have to travel, never book anything at an ‘American Idea’ hotel which is a trump low budget chain. The idea as always is to pick your pocket.

Everything the Dotard touches turns to merde.
Bankruptcies galore, law-suits in the 1000s, and a myriad of unpaid contractors.

Trump’s first international hotel-condo project outside the US (Panama City) has tried 3 times to remove his name but is being prevented from doing it…. Plus Ivanka, fraud, Russian money laundering, etc., etc.

Did they only take women as guests? The only males in that video are employees.

I keep wondering what’s holding back the city of Chicago from penalizing the Trump edifice here…especially since the Fucking Moron goes out of his way to keep insulting the city. I know, like most things that bear the mark of The Beast, he actually doesn’t own it…but we can sure make his brand toxic enough for the real owners to pay whatever it costs to remove it.

    • iambu

At least it still makes a pretty convenient meeting place for protests.

  • Todd20036

Most people wealthy enough to stay at Trump hotels, stay at other, much better hotels.

Deplorables who love Trump are too poor to stay there.

    • Uncle Mark

I have a friend in the luxury hotel business. The had the Trump hotels as clients briefly. Trump’s people kept bitching that they deserve to be advertised as top tier luxury hotels, despite the fact that this company has clearly defined specifications as to what constitutes a top or even 4-Star luxury hotel in their book. They were definitely a problem & high maintenance org that my friend was happy to be rid of.

And, YES, if you saw the other clients my friend’s company had, you would see the Trump hotels as luxury kennels by comparison.

      • iambu

(Sorry, I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but…) having spent the night in a trump hotel once (Chicago), and having stayed at a handful of other luxury hotels over the years, there’s no way a trump hotel would be on the same tier. Their idea of luxury is basically Bigger Everything (big bed, big TV facing the bed, big chair that’s just as uncomfortable as the bed, etc.). And if it can’t be made bigger, it’s just made pricier for BS reasons, like a tray of $25 bottles of water with Swarovski crystals on them. Everything else is just bare. There’s no creativity, no special experiences or services that would set the hotel apart from other luxury accommodations, not even any gaudy paintings of the skyline or watercolor flowers hung over the bed like ya often see. ANYway, if he intended to keep his hotel business after leaving office, he really didn’t think it through ’cause who wants to get caught checking into a trump hotel these days? Even if I had nowhere to go and they offered me a room for free, I’d still wear a damn bag over my head.

        • clay

“Everything else is just bare. There’s no creativity,”

In fact, he’s out of compliance on the Washington International / Old Post Office for that very reason– they failed to maintain it’s interior architecture (also for emoluments).

          • iambu

Everything he touches just turns to crap!

      • Treant

Is it sad I’ve been content with a HoJo’s? Yeah, it’s not great, but you pay for what you get and you get what you pay for. 🙂 The rooms are clean and that’s really all I ask.

        • Uncle Mark

I’ve never been to a HoJo, but I do agree with you. When traveling on vacation, do you REALLY want to spend all your time in your hotel?

          • Treant

Indeed not. Now mind, the Sheraton Waikiki was really nice but…

Waikiki. Like I’m gonna be in the Sheraton? Although I was for a while after getting a severe burn.

  • Hunter M

But …. But ….. But, he’s such a good businessman!

  • leo77

This property has been a problem and shady as hell from the get go. After being granted a zoning permit for a hotel, once under construction they started marketing it as residential condos. The city quashed that. It also, at one point, became so obvious that so much Russian money of uncertain provenance was being put into it that Trump got nervous and tried to extricate himself completely from the project and succeeded to certain extent, but whatever his contractual obligations were at the time he couldn’t get his name/brand off of the project.

    • Chuck in NYC

Yeah, I’m kind of rolling my eyes over the removal of his name, because the stupid building that never should have been put next to SoHo in the first place is still there. Once the city let The Jane replace the Moondance Diner it was inevitable other real estate lust to build towers in the neighborhood would ratchet up.

  • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

I make a delightful soap shaped like amethyst. We can probably soak up bad energy in that and wash it away.

      • Jwmvh

That’s so cool! I want some.

        • Treant

It’s actually kind of spiky in use. While designed for use, most use it as a bathroom soap, half for display and half for use–as it gets used, it becomes a cloudy quartz-like look with an amethyst end, then dissolves down to just the quartz for the rest of the bar.

I did a sapphire with a gold “rock” base as well.

          • paganguy

I’m curious. What scent did you pair with the amethyst?

          • Treant

Lavender, with a dash of amber to anchor it.

  • Tawreos

Any chance we can adapt what the hotel did to get rid of him so that we can get rid of him?

  • Halou

Just a rebranding exercise. If anything Trump owns more of it than he did before, a payoff to soften the blow of his name not being on the business front.
Business will pick up again and the dotard king gets ever richer.

  • Treant

Still not staying there until I see the contract. The whole contract. Including the parts they wrote and locked in a safe.

  • Texndoc

I wonder if prices fell THAT much. When it comes to expensive cities and nice hotels I’d admit I’d hold my nose and feel bad about it …..later. But at 50 percent off….
