Breitbart Editor: We Had To Defend Roy Moore In Order To Protect Trump From His Own Sexual Accusers

Breitbart editor-in-chief Alex Marlow took to their SiriusXM show today to explain why the site was all-in for Roy Moore. Media Matters provides the transcript:

In hindsight guys, look, it’s a — there was no option at Breitbart — and I will try to articulate this over and over. There was no option to throw Judge [Roy] Moore under the bus.

If you set the standard that Roy Moore, who was accused of abusing five women, three of whom — or six women, three of whom were not actually accusing him of doing anything illegal, two of whom either had a massive conflict of interest or were entirely uncredible for putting out a forged yearbook, that left one accuser and it was a he said, she said.

If you make that the standard, the left is going to use it to take out President Trump. There was never any reason to cave unless you have a — unless you would like President Trump to get removed from office, and if not even removed from office, at least have massive distractions from his agenda so that we never accomplish anything for the remainder of the president’s term.

RELATED: Last month Marlow declared that rape “used to have a narrow meaning” but now it just means “sex that the woman regrets.”

      Trumpy ascared?

      • Todd20036

He’s too stupid to be scared

        • Steverino

It’s his GOP co-conspirators who are scared. Follow the money (laundering).

    • bkmn

He has been agitating against Mueller for weeks. I don’t think they have critical mass to do anything and if they did it would rouse several people who have been quiet so far that do not want to see Mueller gone.

      • Maryxus

Sadly, the administration’s attempts to discredit Mueller are starting to have an effect. A poll that came out yesterday found that 54% believe Mueller has a conflict of interest in the case, and if that gets too high then the administration (or possibly Congress) has a case for firing him.

        • Todd20036

Who cares? Mueller doesn’t work with poll numbers

Besides, I suspect too many republicans who’ve kept quiet will side with Democrats if the Nazis try to fire Murlker

        • bkmn
          • Chucktech

Most Think Trump Has Illegally Or Unethically Colluded With Russia. Now, what’s for dinner tonight? Anything good on TV?

        • kaydenpat

And did Kenneth Starr have a conflict of interest when he went after Clinton? I don’t recall that being an issue back then. Why is it an issue now? Democrats better get ready to rumble if Mueller is fired.

        • RaygunsGoZap

Yes but most of those dipshits have no idea what a conflict of interest actually is. Also, their ill-informed opinions don’t get to decide this stuff. No (credible) senator (who wants to be re-elected) is going to support firing Mueller because of this.

    • safari

      Seems perfectly expected

    • crewman

Republicans investigated Hillary Clinton for 2 years over an entirely fabricated witch hunt. Republicans investigated Bill Clinton for 3 years in a fishing investigation that resulted in an impeachment over a consensual blowjob. But very credible evidence of treason, subversion of our democracy, and an attack on our electoral process by our biggest enemy? Ten months is way too long to spend! Investigate the intentions of the investigator’s team! Destroy the reputation of the FBI!

      • jerry

Actually, the Whitewater investigation went from 1994 to 1999 and cost around $80 million.

        • Jonathan Smith

that’s fine. we shall pay for ti with children’s healthcare……

        • muffler

That is 110MM in 2017 dollars.

      • Librarykid

Because right wing money is paying for a right wing takeover of the nation’s government through the Republican Party and this investigation into how one of their tools got elected could lead to more investigations of the money supply of the party which could impede their progress in stealing our nation’s government. This has been their plan for decades which is why my mantra is God Damn the GOP.

      • eddie beskeddie

and how much time was (and still is) spent on Obama’s birth place?

He totally looks like someone you should trust your kids with.

      • ETownCanuck

Maybe someone should open a special investigation into how he managed to skate on his DUI charges back then.

    • MikeBx2

Trump and Republicans are doomed. Shutting down Mueller’s investigation will merely speed up their demise. Perhaps that wouldn’t be a bad thing.

    • Cuberly Deux

Trump TV and the alt-right are throwing everything they can think of to stop the investigation. All of it based on the fact that an FBI agent had political opinions. No evidence of biased behavior on the job, just his texts.

By this logic, every single law enforcement official that’s attended a Trump rally should be fired.

      That’s not how it works.

    • Steverino

This is to be expected when a fascist cult is “attacked.” Think the fury with which attorneys for the Church of Scientology go after anybody who investigates their cult.

    • ??? ummm but Flynn plead, oh forget.

    • GayOldLady

I wonder what sort of kompromat Trump has on Matt? I also wonder what Trump knows on Lindsey Belle /s. These folks that hated Trump suddenly becoming chums with him, playing golf with him, riding on AF One with him, must be sweating bullets that their secrets are going to come out.

    • kaydenpat

And so it begins. This will not end well for Trump.

    • Cucker “Dick” Tarlson

Kaitlan’s tweet underscores something others are noticing. And it’s potentially much worse than we might imagine. A Wonkette post by Evan Hurst ( a well-mannered southern gentleman from TN with a black lab named Lula and a wit that melts steel, but has no apparent boyfriend at at present) should scare the shit out of all of us. He puts together evidence and indications that the GOP may well be putting together a Saturday Night Massacre BEFORE THE END OF THIS YEAR.

  • bkmn

“We have NO standards, we are Breitbart.”

    • Judas Peckerwood

Oh they have “standards” all right, just like Ted Bundy had standards.

  • Tawreos

You have had days to come up with an excuse and that pile of shit is the best that the “journalists” from Breitbart along with “kingmaker” Bannon can come up with? A 4 year old could come up with a better obvious lie than that.

  • m_lp_ql_m

I thought rape was just when women aren’t drunk/drugged enough to not refuse?

  • BeaverTales

So you guys think children should be protected from gays “because of pedophilia”…then when confronted with a real pedophile, you make up lies to protect him?

You must be a Catholic. Do you folks even hear yourselves when you feign outrage at society’s morality??

    • kaydenpat

Transgender women using women’s bathrooms = horror.

One would think that the Supreme could come up with something better than a backhand, although maybe it is more satisfying this way.

      • Megrim Twist

I thought Sarah Paulson’s character ended up revealed as the Supreme(?) although I may be misremembering. I was no doubt extremely stoned when I watched this.

        • Tawreos

At the end, but Jessica Lange was the supreme through most of it.

          • JCF

Ooops, here goes some spoiler font.

And Jessica was stuck in “Knotty Pine” Hell! [Whereas Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates were stuck together, in their mutual Hell]

          • Tawreos

            And I loved it. =)

  • I think you might be missing an option (amongst other things.) Like perhaps you can say that sexual assault is wrong and that goes for the president’s actions as well. I mean that IS an option. You can in fact say that. See I’m typing that right now. Sexual assault is wrong and that goes for the president’s actions as well. See, that wasn’t bloody hard, was it.

    • Tawreos

A good and decent human being can type that, but a shitweasel just can’t bear the thought of typing something like that.

  • Tomcat

Hey GOP, the truth will set you free.

    • Jonathan Smith

      too bad.
looks like they are stuck then

    • matrem

Or at least set voters free from the idea they should be kept in power.

  • Mike C

I think it’s very bizarre that they think they get to set the standard for what kind of sexual assault is unacceptable for a politician. They really are that deluded about their remaining influence here. That’s what this statement really says, doesn’t it? “If you make that the standard, the left is going to use it…”.

    • Tawreos

I think he is trying to say that the standard of evidence is what they don’t want the left to use. He of course goes on to lie about some of the accusers and ignores that it is creepy as fuck to be hitting on teens in the first place, but it is Breitbart, we really can’t expect much from them.

  • ErikDC

They simply ignore the retired law enforcements officials who corroborated the story and said they were told to keep Roy Moore out of the Gadsen Mall.

Blue lives matter, but apparently their voices do not!

  • HZ81

Fuck these assholes, and no one believes sexual assault is getting this clown out of office since it didn’t matter to enough to prevent him from getting in.

So, Breitbart supported a pedophile out of spite against the left, which seems to be the only reason the right does anything, for nothing. Good job, assholes.

  • JWC

Weak and severly twisted they are both sexual perverts

Trump could be fucking animals in the oval office with pence helping and they would defend him.

    • boatboy_srq

Considering he’s busy designing a national future where the vast majority starve in poverty outside the gated community walls, shooting someONE on 5th Ave is less egregious than what he’s actually doing.

    • Gustav2

Well…they all are Republicans, so of course!

  • boatboy_srq

Are they really convinced that sane US voters want Lord Dampmut evicted from the WH purely for sexual harassment/impropriety? Not for treasonous collaboration with a foreign power, not for being a tool of the FSB, not for being a nouveau riche grifter who’s scammed everyone he ever worked with, not for the sheer incompetence (or diminished capacity), not for wrecking the entire nation just because Obama tried to act to save it and everything the Blah President has to be undone because reasons, but strictly for the p*ssy-grabbing.

I’m beginning to think Clinton was really impeached purely because only Republicans can get blowjobs.

  • Benny S.

  • netxtown

    Speaking of sex…

A woman has finally been identified as the aggressor in a sexual harassment case. The case was eventually dismissed with a settlement.

BUT!!! She was never named as a defendant in the case! Now what the fuck is that??!! It’s Kansas and them rethugs are digging deep!

    • Reality.Bites

If I work for deep-pocketed Company X and you wish to accuse me of sexual harassment (rightly or wrongly), it makes sense for your lawyer to go after the deep-pocketed company that doesn’t want bad publicity and couldn’t care less about my reputation. They’ll settle quickly, while I might fight with everything I’ve got.

    • Pip

JFC No one ever said women don’t sexually harass or rape. I love the scramble required to show that the movement is null because they can find a couple cases to hold up as proof that women aren’t innocent. No one said they are.

      • The_Wretched

Standard obfuscation techniques. We saw it today on the Fox and Friends saying, “we have email so we didn’t need net neutrality”. Irrelevant and no one said email working was the point of Net Neutrality.
