Founder Of Nation’s Largest Christian Festival Arrested On Multiple Child Molestation Charges [VIDEO]

Christianity Today reports:

The man who launched America’s largest and longest-running Christian music festival has been “indefinitely suspended” from the ministry and his church following his arrest Wednesday on charges of child molestation.

Harry L. Thomas, founder of the Creation Festival and senior pastor of Come Alive New Testament Church in Medford, New Jersey, has been accused of sexually assaulting four children over a 16-year period between 1999 and 2015. The church stated that the alleged misconduct was “unrelated” to his leadership.

Thomas, 74, has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault, and four counts of endangering the welfare of children, according to the prosecutor’s office in Burlington County, New Jersey, where Thomas lives and where his church is located.

NJ.com reports:

During a first appearance in Burlington County Superior Court on Thursday, public defender Anthony Aldorasi entered a not guilty plea to the charges on Thomas’ behalf.

The pastor entered the courtroom with a walker. He was receiving medical treatment prior to the court appearance, with an officer guarding him in a medical facility following his arrest, authorities said.

Burlington County Superior Court Judge Thomas Kelly called the situation “complicated,” noting “there’s relationships involved,” and “not just one alleged victim, but a multitude of four” alleging crimes that carry “serious criminal charges.” A detention hearing was postponed until December 19, at Thomas’ request.

Poor workmanship in that pic. The screws slots should be straight up and down. Hmmmm, so how many complaints had the church received prior to the police getting involved?

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

Why people don’t get that church is dangerous to kids by now is beyond me.

      • Cuberly Deux

Or unattended. How people leave their kids alone or unsupervised with these orgs is a serious problem. Hell, day care centers are regulated, employees have background checks. Some centers have policies where a single child isn’t allowed to be alone with a single employee.

Religious institutions are obviously exempt from this. It’s a perfect setting for an abuser.

        • David Walker

Tawreos brought up more or less the same point. I DON”T DEFEND THIS FUCKING CREEP. However, it’s possible that it happened at his music festivals. For many kids, it’s their first time away from home in an un-chaperoned event. That and the evil Jeebus hip-hop and praise tunes and raging hormones seems to me a mixture of ingredients that could assure some young teen fucking. And religious parents, I’m sure, trust their kids in this atmosphere because Jeebus.

  • Tawreos

How does the leader of a church molesting kids have nothing to do with his leadership of the church? Are they claiming multiple personalities?

    • David Walker

It could be that it happened at his music festival. You know how horny kids get with all that Jeebus rap and shit wafting through the air and hormones doing mad laps around one’s bod. Or I assume, anyway, from experience at not-Jeebus music festivals I’ve attended. But that’s what I thought…kids ripe for the pickin’.

Also, is there mention of his kiddie diddling preference?

  • Nic Peterson

Misconduct unrelated to his leadership? WTF does that mean, exactly? He didn’t abuse children as a church leader?

    • clay

Maybe he abused them as a father, grandfather, or uncle?

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

It’s amusing to me because I can identify my aunt Bernice, who was eventually jailed for running a brothel in Ogden, Ut., my uncle Paul, who was famous for knocking up no less than ten young mormon maidens from Alpine, uncle Bill, who served time in Alcatraz for bank robbery, uncle Oscar who insisted he was the one and only true successor to Joseph Smith and insisted he had regular conversation with the Angel Moroni and aunts Elfrieda, Juanita, and my mother who somehow escaped into normal marriages and homes unscathed. :-/

Many years ago when they allegations about Michael Jackson came out I was asked if I believed them. I said of course and was asked why.

My answer was that no one can STAND little boys they aren’t forced to love because they’re related to them.

P.S. I used to live across the hall from a scout leader in his 50s – unmarried, no kids. My dog hated him – and loved everyone. Do I have proof he diddled kids? No. But what the fuck was a single man in his 50s doing hanging around kids – what sane one would want to? And someone who loves kids and hates dogs? Un-uh.

      • Rob NYNY

It is associated with his work in the church if he used his position to lure the children and hide his crimes. And you know he did it is how he gained his victims and their parents trust. You can not separate the 2 and the church if it wanted nothing to do with this kind of sickness then they should not be closing their eyes and allowing people like this in the leadership. It is a sickness in the highest positions of all churches. And to deny this is to shield your eyes from those who commit these crimes and to allow them the protection of your ignorance.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP OF COME ALIVE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH

“It is with deep regret and saddened hearts that the Elders and Trustees of Come Alive New Testament Church have indefinitely suspended Pastor Harry Thomas from all leadership positions with the church and all associated ministries. While the allegations are unrelated to his roles in these ministries, leadership is actively cooperating with the authorities and has determined this to be the proper course of action at this time until there can be a full investigation. It is requested that all pray for the parties involved.”

In Lucas, KS there’s an early 20th century folk art installation of limestone and concrete known as the “Garden of Eden”. One of it’s sculptures is “The Crucifixion of the Common Man” flanked by the “parasites” of the banker, the doctor, the lawyer, and the preacher.

That sounds like my grandfather’s kind of place. He joined the Communist Party in the late 20’s or early 30s. He didn’t have much use for preachers.

But you need a lawyer to fight a lawyer. There are a lot of good lawyers out there.

There are a lot of good doctors, too. I don’t necessarily agree with the artist, but I certainly understand where he was coming from.

At his music festivals, women are permitted to wear bathing suits, even if they expose the belly, but only in the showers. But their “Group” page shows a guy looking a lot like the pastor with his hand on the pec of a wet young man with an exposed bell as he comes out of a baptismal dunk.

What the f uck is a ‘pastor’?
An unemployed boll ix with a three week internet diploma in reciting Old Testament texts ?

No, that’s a ‘Reverend’. A ‘pastor’ is one of those who’s successfully stolen sheep.

    From the South Jersey Courier-Post:

In 2003, Thomas served as an advocate for Raymond and Vanessa Jackson of Collingswood, church members accused of starving four foster children. The pastor created a now-defunct website, savethejacksons.org, and offered emotional and financial support to the family . . .

The boys, ages 9 to 19, each weighed less than 50 pounds after a neighbor alerted police that he found a boy looking for food in his trashcan.

He was receiving medical treatment prior to the court appearance, with an officer guarding him in a medical facility following his arrest, authorities said.

Par for the course with all these Evangelical Christ-O-Fascists and their undying support of Pedophiles and perverts like the Bishop Eddie Long and his “special boys.”
These sexual predators are not about love or sex; these are always crimes of power and control just like rape only more disgusting.

Pressler, 87, is a hero to Southern Baptist “conservatives.”

Pressler allegedly told Rollins he was ‘special’. Rollins claims the abuse began when he was just 14.

      Interesting.

“Pressler was President George H.W. Bush’s pick to lead the Office of Government Ethics in 1989, but the administration ultimately ruled Pressler out after an FBI background investigation. News reports from the time suggest that Pressler was dismissed due to unspecified ethics issues.”

        More:

What Exactly Do We Know About Judge Paul Pressler
DECEMBER 12, 2017 BY JONATHAN AIGNER

We know his name has long been surrounded with whispers of impropriety. Such stories are now finding their way onto inconspicuous corners of the internet. According to one such individual, Pressler would lure young people with his hot tub, inviting them to get naked and pray. Another brought up encounters in the showers of the prestigious Houston Country Club.

He should run for public office. The Evangelicals will come out in droves to vote for him.

Oh, say not so! This is part of Satan’s plan to destroy the church. Perhaps Satan used those teen boys with their perky butts to tempt one of God’s faithful. The Devil is devious, you know.

Do we need to hear any more about these people to know that the Christian Right has absolutely no claim whatsoever to any kind of moral high ground? There are just as many (if not MORE!) disgusting perverts in the ranks of the “faithful” because they think they can get away with it or they imagine their invisible sky daddy gave them some kind of special dispensation to diddle kids.
