Dem House Rep Intros Resolution Calling On Congress To Investigate Sexual Assault Claims Against Trump

The Hill reports:

A Democratic lawmaker has introduced a bill calling on Congress to investigate claims of sexual assault and misconduct against President Trump following calls from several Senate Democrats for Trump’s resignation.

Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday introduced a resolution calling on Congress to investigate the accusations against the president either in an existing committee or through the creation of a new committee specifically designed to probe the claims from multiple women that Trump sexually assaulted them.

    Good.

    Twitter meltdown in 3,2,1.

  • AmeriCanadian

    Good. Luck. With. That.

    • Bryan

      See ya in 2018…

  • Friday’s_cat

Will Nancy Pelosi shoot this one down too?

    • Tomcat

That will be republicans job to shoot this one down, and they will.

      • AmeriCanadian

Yep. Lyin’ Paul Ryan’s number one job.

    • another_steve

      Let’s hope not.

Imo, Pelosi was right to shoot down the idea of impeachment, though. Assuming his aides can prevent him from initiating nuclear war with North Korea, we’re much better off having Trump in the Oval Office than Pence. Particularly as we approach next fall’s elections.

      • Chucktech

She shot it down because she knows that if anything came of it, it would be a congressional side show that would go absolutely nowhere.

    • Joseph Miceli

Time for Nancy to GTFO!!! We need new blood.

  • Friday’s_cat

Now if it were a committee to root thru Hillary’s underwear drawer …

    • Tatonka

(Do’h! Posted in response to the wrong comment!)

    • another_steve

There in that drawer the Republicans would magically find a note from Vince Foster:

“Hillary, my love. So sorry about last night’s tiff. Please forgive me. And please don’t brandish that gun the way you did last night. Our love child, Cynthia, might see it and be traumatized as a result.

      All my love always,

      Vince”

  • Tomcat

Like that will go anywhere except in a circle back to Bill Clinton.

    • DreadPikathulhu

Ancient history. They’ll try it and we need to immediately pivot to “that was 20 years ago, let’s talk about the man in office now.

The biggest mistake we could make is to think we have to defend everything. Choose the battle.

    • Chucktech

Then Bill Clinton should RESIGN!!1!!!1 IMMEDIATELY!!11!1

  • Tomcat

Remember to republicans, if you don’t confess to it you are innocent as driven snow.

  • Tatonka

Sounds like an excuse for Donald Trump to lie about the size of his penis while threatening Hillary with prison. Just a normal Tuesday in the Trump era.

    • Tomcat

Trump knows Hillary wants his penis.

      • Tatonka

Trump wishes he had half the cojones that Hillary does. (Metaphorically speaking, of course).

      • peacfulseas inWA

Only to stuff it and nail it to the wall much like the big game hunters Eric and Jr.

    • AJ Drew

Even IF the promise was $1M per inch, Melania got cheated.

  • kladinvt

    We can’t stop trying.

  • another_steve

Glad to see the Democrats are finally taking this seriously. There’s a dangerous sexual predator posing as President of the United States.

Had the Democrats taken it seriously during the campaign, we and the world might not be in the danger we are today because of this monster.

    • Chucktech

The Democrats are more than “in for a penny” with Al Franken’s head on a pike, if this is marching toward “in for a pound,” I’m all for it. Help make Donnie’s life as miserable and fraught with suspicion and uncomfortable as possible.

    • The_Wretched

That’s the part I’m not sure about. And it may be that I’m not fully informed. BUT any substantive push from ‘the Democratic Party’ needs to have their leaders on board. Otherwise, it’s just 1 member at a time getting on board or not. There’s a big group in the middle who will either do what the Party says or not do something unless the Party says to do it. That group has to be on board or this is just noise (politically).

  • Tomcat

It will be blocked by republicans in both houses.

    • UrsusArctos 🐻

Probably, but the process and press around them doing that will be perceived as another tightening of the noose by 45*. An aneurism can only take so much.

  • That_Looks_Delicious

“Dear Alabama” is trending on Twitter.

There are also a whole bunch of Twitter accounts that just popped up in the last 24 hours supporting Moore which I suspect will be traced backed to Russia or some former Soviet republic.

    • Harveyrabbit

traced backed to Russia or some former Soviet republic.

or some future Russian Satellite currently called The White House.

    • Tatonka

      The Republic of Gropistan?
      Pedobearzan?
      Lolitavenia?

    • The_Wretched

Or oligarch donor. Trump didn’t go all in from the start on Moore so this is an issue where he’s being puppeted. The pols told the donors that the tax plan is barely there and they need the seat.

agree with sentiment, but… FOOK HIM.

  • MikeBx2

Yes!! I am energized both for donating money and for getting to the polls as long as Democrats are fighting back against that con man and his GOP cronies. I am not energized when they work with and try to normalize him. But that’s just me.

  • geoffalnutt

As it was 2000 years ago – women were chattel…to be bought and sold…rarely seen, never heard. Just ask ol’ Roy…and the Republicans!

    • Two thousand years ago? Du, really you need an update on the timeline women were considered chattel, try up until 1700’s.

Or when the big top catches fire.

  • Chucktech

Assuming this amounts to a hill of beans, the least that I hope for is steady and unrelenting consternation for Donald Trump. Let’s at least hope he knows that so many people hate his fucking guts.

    • It would be fabulous if he did indeed know that the fast majority of the country and the world despises him. However, he lives in a make believe world where he is King of All, and is beloved by everyone, and every single young beautiful woman, and chocolate cake wants him.

  • Joseph Miceli

Ah! The sheer spectacle of lovely bi-partisan committee interviewing woman after woman who then go into excruciating detail as to what Trump did, when he did it, how he did it, what he said while he did it and how many times he did it.
    Ew. Necessary….but….ew!

    • Chucktech

Necessary. And what a deplorable shame that it is necessary.

    • When they dig out all the salacious details they will deem there wasn’t enough evidence to go forward with an investigation and drop it. Shades of Clarence Thomas.

      • Chucktech

And Clarence Thomas seethed with anger and embarrassment the whole time. Good. That’s my sincere hope for Donald Trump. I certainly can hope for no more than that.

        • Yes, he sat and seethed, and growled and glared. But in the end whom did it truly hurt? Anita Hill was hurt by the entire process. If she had of been believed, and he hadn’t been sworn in, then her pain and embarrassment would have been fully worth it. But at the end, she was not believed, and disrespected, and he came out of the ordeal smiling in triumph.

  • The_Wretched

How close is Meeks to leadership and does he have leadership on board?

  • GanymedeRenard

    The sooner, the better!
