ALABAMA: Obama Records Robocall For Doug Jones

CNN reports:

Former President Barack Obama is adding his voice to the Alabama Senate race, imploring voters to go to the polls Tuesday to reject the candidacy of Roy Moore as part of an aggressive effort by Democrats to try and counter President Donald Trump’s full-throated endorsement of the controversial Republican candidate. “This one’s serious,” Obama says in the call. “You can’t sit it out.”

Two Democratic officials familiar with the Alabama race tell CNN that Obama recorded the phone message in recent days, at the very time Trump stepped up his own involvement in the campaign with a recorded message. Obama does not mention Moore by name. “Doug Jones is a fighter for equality, for progress,” Obama says. “Doug will be our champion for justice. So get out and vote, Alabama.”

The audio of Trump’s robocall for Roy Moore is below.

  • Tawreos

He should have included that Doug Jones does NOT molest kids.

    • Bj Lincoln

It should have included the most important information that Moore was kicked off the beach TWICE for not obeying the law as a judge. I don’t think those people care that he was/is a creepy guy trying to get in young girls panties. The current administration was accused of raping a child and no one seems to care.

      • gaycuckhubby

Getting kicked off the court twice for “standing up for his values” is probably why he’s leading the polls in Alabama

        • Bj Lincoln

True. Unfortunately his ‘values’ are against mine.

      • Ragnar Lothbrok

That man has no business being on a BEACH where children are about

        • Robincho

Moore is small potatoes. I myself have been kicked off the beach THREE times — all on nudity charges…

          • David Walker

And on all on nude beaches. (Sorry. Couldn’t resist. Today’s bout with projection. At a celebrity strip fundraiser, I always declined knowing I’d have to wind up paying the organizers after the massive chants of “Put it on! Put it on!”)

          • Ragnar Lothbrok

I will require photo evidence !

      • AandDinIndy

IKR, how do the voters think that he will honor his oath of office this time if he’s broken it twice already. This also means he’s not following his precious 10 commandments very well either.

      • They care even less about him ignoring Supreme Court rulings.

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

    Thanks OBAMA!!
    (He is so missed.)

An excellent turn of events but since it’s Democrat; we know this election will be rigged too. The Democrat’s record of election fraud and Hillary losing an election rigged for her speaks volumes to the real Fascism consuming AmeriKKKa today.

      • evan_or

Best to just Block his nonsense – and Kevin, put the crack pipe down.

    • gaycuckhubby

Here’s a crazy thought… The elections weren’t rigged. Trump won the majority of the states legitimately.
I was born in a red State and live in a different Red State, we are kidding ourselves if we think that Trump doesn’t have support out there.
Sure the Russians put out some false Facebook advertising, but people still made the decision to go out and vote for him and they had all the information they needed about who he was.
This election was not rigged or hacked, it just sucked.

      • Joseph Miceli

        But….you don’t really know.
I’m with you. I think that a widespread conspiracy to steal these elections is unlikely, given that no one seems to be able to keep anything secret. I do, however, have a real problem with the lack of security and oversight of electronic voting. If someone did manage to skew the results, how would we know?
I wish we’d all just go back to paper votes. At least you can count those by hand (unless your chad is hanging, that is! )

        • gaycuckhubby

Then you have to trust the people counting. And it would be just as easy, if not easier, to destroy a bunch of written paper ballots.
With electronic voting you have digital Footprints and people including our intelligence services can run investigations very accurately.

          • Ragnar Lothbrok

Actually paper can be verified, documented and re counted in a trusted way that electronic can not. That is precisely the reason why Dems want paper and Repukes do not.

          • Joseph Miceli

I guess I don’t know enough about it, but I understand counting by hand. See, now I have to TRUST that YOU know what you are talking about. Sooner or later it comes down to that and it is hard to trust what you don’t understand.

      • netxtown

The election was ‘death by a million cuts’. One of those ‘cuts was Crosscheck. It kept many, many eligible voters from voting. And yes, a republican (Kobach) ran it.

Another ‘cut’ was the elimination of hundreds of voting places – especially in southern states.

And with no paper trail – every voting machine out there becomes suspect.

    • Bj Lincoln

Rigged for Hillary?! She won by popular vote! Go away Troll!

  • BeaverTales

He’s considered the least divisive national figure in the Democratic party.and he appeals to most African Americans.

Both of those things make him an excellent choice for a stump campaigner….he should also appear in person, but I’d fear for his life in Alabama.

    • liondon#iamnotatraitor

We don’t take to kindly to carpet blackers.

  • Texndoc

I think it’d be closer if Gloria Allred hadn’t butted in. So did a couple Meet the Press talking heads.

    • Joseph Miceli

Sigh. The right thing to do is to vote for the Dem and everyone knows it. Politically, however, the dumbest thing might be to interject Gloria Alred and the ladies from “The View” into an election in bum fuck backwoods ass Ala-fucking-my-cousin-for-Jesus-bama. A lot of those good ole boys will vote Moore just for spite and joke about “raisin’ em up right!” I know. I grew up in Harahan, Louisiana and heard the exact same jokes.

      • Ninja0980

Here in NY, go to the area right outside Buffalo or in rural upstate and you’ll hear the same thing.
These folks would seriously cut off their arm or leg if they thought it would tick a liberal off.

        • Bj Lincoln

          Rural Ohio too.

        • Joseph Miceli

I read this somewhere and it says it all.
“A Republican will eat a shit sandwich on the off chance that he might offend a black man with his breath. ”
I’ve been getting a lot of mileage out of this on the Facebook pages for my Louisiana Congress- critters.

      • Texndoc

The bigger argument is they could vote the Dem in and dump him in 2018. Which will happen to Moore Id bet.

Trump live tweets to Mourning Joe AND Don Lemon’s show. lol

    • Uncle Mark

(Sigh)…I guess the baby’s up now.

  • Jeffrey

Just remember that the guy begging you not to vote for the child rapist is NOT from the party that Christians align themselves with.

    • David Walker

      Thank you, Jeebus!

  • Gustav2

Depending on the zip code, this could backfire. I hope it is targeted.

A new Economist/YouGov poll finds that 51% of Republicans continue to believe the claim that former President Obama was born in Kenya.

With that backdrop, most Republicans also “doubt that Russia hacked into DNC emails or spread fake news during last year’s campaign in order to help elect Donald Trump president.”

I bet those numbers are even higher in Alabama.

    • Reality.Bites

During the last Canadian federal election I received about 5 calls (3 on election day!) from the Liberal Party. Modern campaigns know who they’re targeting.

Not receiving anything from the other parties would have more to do with their minimal chances in my riding. I realized from how much effort the Liberals could afford to spend on me in a riding they couldn’t possibly lose that they had the election in the bag.

Corey Stewart almost upset Ed Gillespie in the Republican primary to select a candidate to run for governor in Virginia earlier this year.

At-Large Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Prince William County, Virginia?

        • Professor Barnhardt

I had to check, as I don’t live in PWC, but Wikipedia says that’s what he is.

3 Men Accused Of Kansas Mosque Bomb Plot Ask Judge For Pro-Trump Jurors

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Three men accused of plotting to bomb a mosque and apartment complex housing Somali refugees asked a federal judge Friday to include prospective jurors from rural western Kansas because they are twice as likely to have voted for President Donald Trump.

A defense motion argues that plans to only summon citizens in the more urban counties closest to the federal courthouse in Wichita is a discriminatory practice that excludes rural and conservative jurors. The trial begins March 19.

  • abqdan

Difficult to believe that we haven’t had a real President for almost a year now. A timely reminder of what ‘presidential’ looks like.

  • Butch

Just wondering, and leaving the fact that it’s Obama out of it – has anyone studied whether robocalls really have any effect? I hang up the minute I realize it’s a robocall; I would say receiving one actually diminishes my support rather than enhancing it.

    • Reality.Bites

I’m going to assume from your presence here that you’re the kind of person who, at the very least, votes in ever election you consider important.

I’m also going to assume that you’re the sort of person who either has always voted Democratic or always does now, due to changes in the Republican Party in recent years.

If both of my guesses are correct, then it’s important to bear in mind that no campaigning or ads or calls from either side are actually aimed at you at all.

We are not the droids they’re looking for. 😉

      • Butch

I wasn’t talking about me, and yes, I do vote consistently and I do vote Democratic. I was just asking whether a robocall is actually worthwhile versus other kinds of campaigning. I think it’s a legitimate question.

        • Reality.Bites

It’s certainly a legitimate question, although not one I know the answer to. I was just pointing out that while our personal anecdotal experience might be informative in some things, in this one it’s not.

  • canoebum

This is good if it is targeted to getting out minority voters. If they wanted to change some white Alabamian minds, they should have done a robocall with Honey Boo Boo: “Judge Moore scares me. I think he wants to put his hands in my pants”.

    • Reality.Bites

Wasn’t her show cancelled because her mother’s living with a sex offender?

      • canoebum

I don’t know. It was just a joke.

        • Reality.Bites

          yeah, I remembered right.

          Pretty gross stuff.

On October 24, 2014, TLC announced the cancellation of the show after reports surfaced that June Shannon was dating a man convicted of child molestation. Shannon and her older daughter Lauryn denied these reports. The man in question, Mark Anthony McDaniel, Sr., was convicted of aggravated child molestation of an 8-year-old in March 2004. McDaniel is listed as a registered sex offender with the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. Shannon’s eldest daughter confirmed that she is the child who was molested by McDaniel 10 years earlier.

    • Beth Sanders

oh that girl is so darling! Not a fan AT ALL of Obummer, but i agree.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

Sadly, I don’t think this will help. If the interviews and polls (not that they can be trusted anymore) are indicators, Moore will take the state. I shudder to think what happens next….

As always, I will be ecstatic to be proven wrong.

  • ColdCountry

Oh, my god, that pic of Dump in front of the flag! He looks like a constipated woodchuck!

  • Buford

If you want to see what rational, logical, moral Americans are up against in Alabama, watch this (if you can)… Moore supporters explaining their support for Moore. This country is doomed.

    • Scott Fitler

OMG the guy who asked, “If you vote for somebody who makes things worse, is that smart or stupid?”

Well, you’ve voted Republicans into power in Alabama for decades and it’s a shithole, so… care to answer your own question?

      • Buford

The comment about the George Soros media pretty much said it all.

  • David Walker

President Obama uses logic, facts, and his mellifluous voice to get the point across. This guy, on the other hand, uses the same approach, but with a sledgehammer.

    • Karl Dubhe 2

“Choices are a Democrat, and a poorly written villain from the Dukes of Hazzard.”

      Love that man.

  • Lawerence Collins
  • Robincho

The call should come from Trae Crowder, not Obama. Then it might stand half a chance of working…

  • I love dim sum

Nice to know Obama can take a break from giving million dollar speeches to Goldman Sachs executives and buying condos with views of Central Park, to stump for a Blue Dog Democrat. How daring of him.

    • I’m no great fan of Obama, but are you implying Roy Moore shouldn’t be opposed, by whatever means available?
