Radio Announcers Fired After Citing Trump In Racist Attack On High School Basketball Players [VIDEO]

The NBC affiliate in Des Moines reports:

Controversial commentary from two local radio employees at a high school basketball game in northern Iowa is going viral — and has resulted in their firing.

A video clip from a boys basketball game between Forest City High School and Eagle Grove High School was posted to Facebook Sunday night. It contains racist comments by an announcer and producer. The clip is from a longer online broadcast of the Nov. 28th game, with audio provided by KIOW-FM in Forest City.

The two make several comments about the ethnicities of some of the Eagle Grove players, discussing the “Espanol people in Eagle Grove.” Harris also says, “As (President) Trump would say, go back where they came from.”

  • bkmn

He has revived everything vile about the older generation and is making sure it is passed on to younger generations.

    • Christopher

I never hated Bush as much as I hate Trump.

He’s utterly revolting in every conceivable way.

      • edrex

        ikr. weird, huh?

      • Chucktech

Yeah. And as Moron lied us in to a colossally disastrous war, that’s an amazingly sad statement.

      • The_Wretched

Bush the Lesser also blew up the national debt and had a host of bad acts. He was still bad and a likely war criminal. Evenso, I know what you mean. Trump’s chaos is tearing apart everything.

        • rabbit

Exactly what Russia has wanted for decades.

  • Judas Peckerwood

What a time to be alive.

  • Jim Maloney

So this is not OK now? Watch him tweet about it to focus the attention on him.

  • JoeMyGod

“They’re ALL foreigners! Ha ha ha!”

  • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

We are living in a world where the unspeakable is routine and where doing the right thing is infrequent enough to be newsworthy.

  • PickyPecker
    • Galvestonian

Yeah, why not – give him a fair trial and then take him out and hang him.

  • Lumpy Gaga

So that went out on the air. Tells you something about how normal they think that is.

I assumed they were picked up on a smartphone, sitting in the crowd, but no….

    • Lumpy Gaga

Wow. JMG’s blurb doesn’t do it justice. Listen to it.

      • Treant

        Pass. I can imagine. And if I can’t, I don’t want to.

        • Lumpy Gaga

You’ll never hear “Eagle Grove” the same way again.

    • William

Trumpeteers assume everyone agrees with them.

      • Lumpy Gaga

Eagle Grove, if you know what I mean.

        And I think you do.

“They’re just going to gradually work their way into town.”

Yeah, everybody’s dying for a piece of your shithole.

      • pj

exactly. so does trump. until he goes back to NY and he gets booed in the street.

  • Cipher

    More “good people” exposed.

    • GayOldLady

      “good for nothing people”

  • crewman

Excellent that he was fired. I hope that news is well covered locally. He was actively normalizing hate and racism. I hope his firing normalizes the alternative message that racism and hate are not tolerated in professional environments or in civil society.

  • Jerry Hinnant

What disgusting assholes! Should have known he was an old white male. Any bets on the woman being a brunette with crazy eyes?

  • Harveyrabbit

Harris also says, “As (President) Trump would say, go back where they came from.”

Actually everyone would be better off if Harris (and tRump) went back to where THEY came from…

  • PickyPecker
    • GayOldLady

And they give absolutely no shits about what happens to those babies after they are born.

      • jerry

But of course, their “tax reform” includes a personhood clause for embryos, and also ends the adoption credits…so it’s fine if you’re a zygote, but you’re f***ed if you’re born.

        • GayOldLady

Eggszactly! Everything they do is predicated on money to richest among us and appealing to their christo voters. They couldn’t care less about children.

        • Arrow to the Knee

Really?? You must not see what the Obamas did to our kid’s lunches. Asshole/.

      • JackFknTwist

As I say, they are not pro-life. they are just pro-birth.

After that, they don’t give a shit what happens to the babies.

  • GayOldLady

Goddamn, they should have been fired before the game was over. It sounded like those two jumped into the wayback machine and ended up in 1952. Those days are gone for good and nothing those folks say or do will bring them back.

    • Reality.Bites

How many people would be listening to a high school basketball game and be able to reach a station executive after hours?

    • David Walker

That won’t stop them from trying, unfortunately. I am so grateful that I was brought up right. You know…people are people, except for xns. Christians be one thing, but xns? Not so much.

  • JWC

    extremely clever assholes

  • AJD

    Maybe Breitbart will hire him.

  • Lumpy Gaga

Oh, never mind. They’re defending the honor of fabulous Forest City.

    As you were.

  • Tawreos

It is good to see people being punished when they forget that just because they think that Trump is a great example to follow that real people will give them what they deserve.

  • Tomcat

Reminds me of my local radio all during the Clinton and Obama presidencies.

  • Tomcat

The answer to all this bullshit is VOTE DEMOCRATIC FROM NOW ON.

    • Tread

But what about my free college?!

      • jerry

I think college just hella lot more expensive with GOP “tax reform”.

        • Kelly Lape

The more people eligible for college the less chance inbred wealthy “families” have of getting their imbecilic children in based on merit. Buying an education for an idiot child is cheaper with less competition.

          • jerry

            Good example: Trump children.

      • Tomcat

GOP says College is for rich kids!

      • m_lp_ql_m

GOP says college is only for Clean Coal™ workers!

        • Tomcat

They go to the Deep Impact College.

        • jerry

Since miners generally live close to man-made environmental disasters, are mostly now in non-union jobs, the mine-safety laws have been repealed, and retraining money has been re-purposed for tax cuts, I don’t think they get college either.

      • JCF

Dems ARE getting there, progressively. [It’s a Bernie Bro myth, that the so-called “corporate democrats”—i.e., everyone who doesn’t kiss St Bernie’s @ss—are against any/all forms of free college]

    Wikipedia on Forest City, IA:

    2010 census

As of the census[3] of 2010, there were 4,151 people, 1,686 households, and 1,008 families residing in the city. The population density was 894.6 inhabitants per square mile (345.4/km2). There were 1,909 housing units at an average density of 411.4 per square mile (158.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.9% White, 1.5% African American, 0.2% Native American, 1.3% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.0% of the population.

    • Tomcat

So only 6.1% to do all the hard work?

    • TexasBoy

      Poor repressed white males.

    • Reality.Bites

Hell, I doubt my racial makeup is 94.9% white and as far back as we know, we’re from eastern europe. Being Jewish theoretically we’re from the middle east, but given the predominant colouring in my family, I don’t think necessarily much of it left in our DNA.

  • Blake J Butler
    • Tomcat

Ya think they have a memory in Germany?

    • JCF

      Outstanding! Ausgezeichnet!

  • Hornbori

Oh, wait…you mean this sort of thing hasn’t been normalized yet?

  • rednekokie

No, you arse — they are not forinners — they are Americans. But I doubt your own nationality — certainly isn’t the America I know.

    • Lumpy Gaga

  • Lumpy Gaga

    Remember the Forest City to-do!!!!!

  • Tomcat

I see I need to start taping my local radio and putting it on Youtube.

    • m_lp_ql_m

      Please do.

    • Pip

If stuff like this is discussed, definitely do!

  • Forteaneye

So very happy those two idiots were fired.

    • Vista-Cruiser

They’ll just get hired somewhere that’s even more Republican.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

How times have changed, for the better. I’m old enough to remember listening to a radio station out of Rochester, New York back in the 80’s and the shit being spewed was considered “good, wholesome American values.” Well kids, the tide is turning, slowly at points but turning nonetheless and we can all take heart that comments that were once deemed funny are now a firing offense.

  • RobynWatts
    • Reality.Bites

      A similar old joke:

Honey, I just won the lottery. Start packing your bags!

Sure, but for where – the beach, the mountains, a big city?

I don’t care where, just get the hell out!

  • Lumpy Gaga

Oooh. Employer went there with the ‘d’ word:

These comments were deplorable, and the staff and management of KIOW in no way condones or supports these comments.

  • Reality.Bites

Here’s something pretty cool. A couple of amateurs found a vast network of ice-age era caves under a Montreal suburb!

  • seant426

    OMG. What idiots.

  • Bluto
    • DoctorDJ

      He forgot “FEAR.”
That’s huge with this former-majority constituency.

  • Arrow to the Knee

You are deluded, and you’re going to lose. If we dont protect you from your delusions, then you will lose your reality. Watch.

    • David Walker

And who brought “those people” here in the first place? Couldn’t have been lazy white guys looking to make money and not work for it, could it? And…just curious…what flavor of white guy are you? However, welcome to JMG. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • Ninja0980

    They aren’t even pretending anymore.

  • -M-

    Good riddance to rancid trash.

  • Kevin Andrews

This is one of “those” times when I wish the punishment fit the crime. Let’s deport these Mighty-White assholes to their native lands. Teabagistan is a perfect destination for sick bigots as demonstrated.

  • so i lived on the border of WI and Iowa for a while. believe me when i say: it’s a fucked up state. so white your eyes will bleed… but less so than in the past, and less every day a baby is born in that benighted state. oh, how the oldsters hate that. and in Iowa, almost everyone white is Old, or working on getting there quickly. the churches? don’t get me started. like a lot of states, there are little university towns with more diversity and liberalism, and if intelligent residents can’t escape the state itself, they eventually move to those places.

but all i can say is that i’m very glad not to be next door anymore. fuck Iowa, and fuck the political bullshit in our system which makes it the most important state in our fucked up election process.

  • ClevelandJim

Wow. She (producer?) actually sounds worse then he does, like she’s trying to egg him on. Yeah, I definitely want to see what she looks like—she doesn’t sound like an older person.

  • CJAS

Is he supposed to be an example of racial superiority?

  • North west Iowa is notoriously conservative – think Steven King and Michelle Bachman conservative. I’m glad they are getting the negative exposure they deserve with this.

    • MBear

Thats not “conservative “. Thats racist

      • The_Wretched

US conservatism, especially since the rise of Faux News, is fundamentally racist. It’s part of their core beliefs.

        • MBear

They can label themselves any way they want – doesnt change what they are

  • marshlc

And these are kids they’re talking about. Family values, my ass.

  • Dayglo

Since when is Todd Starnes announcing high school basketball games?

    • coram nobis

When he joined the Coo Clucks Clan?

  • TJay229

    What… White Privilege didn’t save their jobs… I’m 😲

  • Ogre Magi

Man,those two are assholes….and not the good kind either!

  • StraightGrandmother

Nothing surprises me about this country any more. Not since Trump, Trump has unleashed and is the cause of so much hatred it is sickening.

I know I shouldn’t I know we have to learn to abide by people having different opinions, however I practically can’t stand being in the same room with anyone who voted for Trump. I myself am more polarized then ever before. I admit it. I’m not tolerant.

“We agree to disagree,” worked under different administrations, but not this one, not for me anyway.

    • Maggie 4NoH8

I’m with you on this… After the Access Hollywood tape, I was done with “christians”, GOP, whoever still supported Trump. I can’t wrap my head around how anyone could vote for him… Now, its the constant lying (sp?). It’s like Trump is out of fucks to give for anyone but himself.

      • StraightGrandmother

Well I am personally out of f*cks for anyone who STILL supports him. Just plain “I don’t want to be in your orbit.” Because IF you support Trump today that tells me a whole lot of about who you really are.

    • RJ Bone

“”We agree to disagree,” worked under different administrations, but not this one, not for me anyway.”

This is what it’s going need to be, in the end. They’re dangerous and looking for a place to open up on someone. They abuse our side’s tendency to encourage taking the “high ground” and continue to spew their waste everywhere they can, now.

I don’t know how it’s going to stop – I’m worried that it’ll take something very drastic, at this point.

    • Gianni

Not only “unleashed” but, to the loyal dim bulbs, “normalized”. He has set a national tone that gives these creatures the “It’s all OK” feeling and they can do and say anything when they feel like attacking anyone else. Just like children who mimic and learn from adult behavior. “Agree to disagree” is fine in private or personal settings, but not when it comes to attacking, disparaging, demeaning, and insulting people in a public arena. It cannot be tolerated and allowed to become anything resembling normal or acceptable.

  • Charles Nelson

One good thing about Trump’s Presidency is that all of those bigots are finally coming out of the woodwork rather than presenting false fronts.

  • Gianni

Like cockroaches, when conditions are right, they all start to appear from the hiding places. Donnie has made the conditions almost perfect for them to start appearing and becoming bold and brazen.

  • Jack

    Thanks, trump.

  • fuzzybits

    Good,take out the trash!

  • Bert_Bauer

And, of course, the lowlife conservative propagandists will scream that these bottom feeders are “victims of political correctness.” No, when you say racist shit, you should get fired. Grow the fuck up already, conservative trash.

  • leastyebejudged

States that consist primarily of federally subsidized corporations should be scrutinized closely. Iowa as a state is partially responsible for the poor health of the nation and the destruction of the environment and the soil.

Follow the money and enjoy the fact that US corporations destroy the environment, the soil, the public health, and the future.
