New Doug Jones Ad Reminds Us That Roy Moore Thinks Preschool Is “Nazi-Style Indoctrination” [VIDEO]

Here’s what today’s Doug Jones ad is about:

Many states and localities are looking to expand the availability of preschool, but Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore apparently believed this push was misguided and could result in the Nazi-style indoctrination of America’s children.

In 2007, Moore wrote an op-ed on the conservative site WorldNetDaily saying preschool was “detrimental to children and our country.” His column was a response to Hillary Clinton’s proposal for universal pre-kindergarten classes for four-year-olds.

Moore wrote that Clinton was so keen on the idea because she wanted to fill children’s heads with liberal ideas ― essentially brainwashing them and turning them into her own Hitler Youth.

From Moore’s WND column:

Why, then, do social liberals like Hillary Clinton push so hard for the expansion of preschool programs? Perhaps they understand the truth of Proverbs 22:6 better than most parents: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

When the mind of a young child is subjected to state control before fundamental concepts and basic beliefs are formulated, the child is much more likely to learn a liberal social and political philosophy with the state as his or her master. Creation and God-given rights are more easily replaced with evolution and government-granted rights.

Totalitarian regimes like those of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin knew well the value of a “youth corps.” As Hans Schemm, leader of the Nazi Teacher’s League, once observed, “Those who have the youth on their side control the future.”

One candidate talks about issues that people SHOULD care about. The other talks about the ones he invented in his mind. Alabama, I swear if you fuck this up again I’ll never forget it.

  • bkmn

Keep exposing Roy as the nutjob he is, along with the far-right Christians like the Benhams who now think it is ok for Christians to rape children.

2007 pre-schoolers: Old enough to “date” today, but not vote.

  • as a preschool age educator, i say fuck you, to anyone who doesn’t think what we do is valuable. it’s funny how the richer right wing shit stains always end up sending their little brats to the finer schools where most teachers are very well educated and often quite liberal. it’s because conservative “teachers” are losers who don’t know what to do with children other than beat them, but never mind that. it’s the hypocrisy, katie, that kills me with these types. the whole of education in the south is based on a model that only the rich are truly educated, and that’s where they want to return the rest of this nation.

My mother started teaching college, then switched to high school Biology, then junior high general science, then elementary Phys Ed. She spent the last 15 years of her career running a Montessori-based pre-school, where she said, “Finally, a job where what I do matters. As long as their parents don’t screw them up, these kids will leave here loving learning.”

    • TheManicMechanic

Children are born as learning machines from the get-go. They can easily be taught multiple languages with proper pronunciation in pre-k. Humans learn the absolute basics of communication the moment they utter “ma-ma.” It’s never too soon to begin teaching children different things. What makes me ill is when I see very young kids droning on about bible versus and other unnecessary tripe. That’s the indoctrination.

      • David Walker

You’ve got to be carefully taught.

Actually, I’m surprised the twice-impeached ex-judge kiddie diddler has a problem with nazi-style indoctrination.

        • (((GC)))

He has no problem at all, as long as he gets to be one of the powerful visible representatives of the invisible dictator.

    • JCF

Wow, cd, I’m most impressed that you’re an educator while at preschool age (you’re younger than I thought!)

The “cake” will be Doug Jones winning the election. The “icing on the cake” will be the psychotic tears shed by Trump, the Benhams, the Wildmon cult, etc. upon Doug Jones winning the election.

Have you been to Alabama? Moore is probably going to win.

yep and with some hanky panky at the polls too.

I hope not, but direct-recording electronic voting machines are like the Christian idea of God: “anything is possible”!

(Maybe that’s why fundies like them, and would rather not have paper ballots…?)

Meanwhile, today’s message out of the WH is:
    1) a “Photo of the Day” that’s 4 days old;
    2) lunch with the (GOP, only) members of the Senate Finance Committee as “hard work” on the tax cuts;
    3) a meeting with Gen. Mattis, (since Turmp skipped out of the intelligence briefing, again).
(Turmp also skipped out of meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, dumping the head of state on the Vice P.)

His agenda for tomorrow has only one item:
    1) a trip of 1 1/2 miles (by chauffeured vehicle) to meet with the (GOP, only) Senate.

    But coming up! Highlights include:
    1) Vice P Pence’s speech to the UN praising the formation of Israel and
    2) Ivanka/Yael’s problematic trip to India. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/731ac68598bbd83bf2efbe2b53eee69a1b68146260716400c9d67e1e4e2f0bb3.png

    • Who is Israel? Is that Jared? (I am not following). Is Ivanka’s hebrew name Yael?

      • clay

Yael is Ivanka’s Hebrew name. Interesting that she should take the name of a woman known for murdering a man just for putting her in the situation where she’s suspected of being the victim of rape (or adultery, hard to tell when women aren’t independently valued).

    • 2patricius2

It almost seems as though Drumpf is leaving the presidential responsibilities to Pence. Maybe realizing his days as president are numbered?

      • clay

Yes, he said from the onset that he’d hand over domestic policy and foreign policy to Pence.

        • Leaving him what portion of being president to himself? He refused to throw out the ball at a baseball game, didn’t attend the press dinner, or host a dinner for the winners of the Nobel Prize, so he obviously wasn’t interested in the ceremonial portion of his job either.

      • Tawreos

He just wanted the title and the power he thought came with it.

        • Yeah, he didn’t know the job was so time consuming.

I hope he’s not making the same mistake that Hillary made. Don’t just talk about how bad your opponent is. Inspire people to want to vote for you, not just against him.

    • Vinnie NYC

It worked out quite well for Danica Roem and proud I am of her and that winning strategy.

    • Keith D Plane

Jones will not win. I’ll bet money on it. We are talking AL here plus some hanky panky at the polls.

    • Pluto Animus

      Yeah, you’re absolutely correct.

Trump was so much more inspiring than Clinton.

You’re saying that’s why he won, right?

      • pablo

He didn’t inspire me, but he apparently inspired enough people to carry states that Hillary should’ve taken easily.

  • Chucktech

Proverbs 22:6. Creation and God-given rights. This is why Roy Moore will sweep into office. He totally speaks Alabama Hillbilly. And Alabama hillbillies just eat this shit up.

    • (((GC)))

“Creation and God-given rights … Totalitarian regimes …” The irony!

Failed judge Roy Moore is evidently just fine with a totalitarian regime, so long as his invisible overlord is at the top. And of course Moore will tell us what the overlord wants. That’s more important than following the laws derived from the “Consent of the Governed”, and the reason he was removed from the bench for misconduct. Twice.

  • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

Why doesn’t Jones talk more about himself?

The Republicans claim I’m weak on crime. I was part of the team that prosecuting the church bombing that killed four little girls. My opponents ignored our laws and the Constitution and was thrown of the bench….TWICE.

    • Halou

Aggressive Dems would be a sight to see.

    • pch1013

But most white Alabamans either don’t care about that attack against a black church, or actively approve of it.

      • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

I doubt Jones can get the KKK vote…

So I suppose that Caleb Moore is a good example of this?

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

  • How sad that the anti-education faction has flowed down to pre-school children. What’s next, not teaching our children to read and write? I swear to FSM that these xtian loons want us to return to the educational dark ages of the 1100-1700’s where only the elite could read or count past 100.

The real threat to America today is the Reich-Wing Christ-O-Fascists and Missionary of Hate who have no education and damned little common sense relying on their mob-mentality to push their agenda.

  • BeaverTales

Poor Doug, a good man who lives in a crazy state running against an evil asshole and he’s barely ahead. Such a shame. Thank Jebus.

  • HandsomeMrToad

Somehow, I don’t think this approach–shouting “look at how unreasonable Roy Moore is!” — is gonna work. That’s what we tried against Trump. The Alabama voters LIKE Moore (and Trump) because he’s loonie.

    • Girlgoon

We stupid liberals think information and education will solve all the problems. The human psyche doesn’t work that way. Butt-headed tribalism wins over intelligence and logic every time !

      • HandsomeMrToad

There was a politician–I don’t remember who–who was running for some office, and a supportive newspaperman said to him “you certainly can count on the thinking-person’s vote”, and he answered: “Yes, that’s very nice, but unfortunately, in order to win, I need a majority.”

  • Robin Bailey
  • Girlgoon

Just cut your arms and legs off to spite yourself. Any idea a Clinton comes up with must be fought at all costs, circle the wagons and protect the children from education.

  • Paula

Its true! They are teaching them subversive things like the alphabet, numbers, colors, reading, the pledge of allegiance, and if you can believe it,SHARING.
What is the world coming to? What next? Playing nicely with others? Taking turns?
It might end with a civil society. The horror.
/s < did I really need to put this?

They should point out more differences between the races. /s

Standard practice – accuse your foe of what you already know you do. Fundies and evanges know full well the benefits of corralling young kids and indoctrinating them with Bible-based judgmental attitudes, animosity toward others for almost any reason, especially if they don’t share the same beliefs, testify to others every chance you get about God and how He’s made your life better (by helping make you a royal pain in the ass with few manners), let others know you are one of God’s warriors, expound on how the Bible takes precedence over any laws other than “God’s laws”, and on and on it goes. Of course, this is all fine because you teach them how God is on their side and they are “saved” while every non-believer’s soul is doomed to hell and other assorted magical shit.
