Lindsey Graham Laments GOP “Baggage” Of Having Roy Moore In The Senate: A Lose-Lose Situation [VIDEO]

CNN reports:

Sen. Lindsey Graham bemoaned President Donald Trump’s support for Alabama Senate Republican candidate Roy Moore on Sunday, calling the move a lose-lose situation.

“If he wins, we get the baggage of him winning, and it becomes a story every day about whether or not you believe the women or Roy Moore, should he stay in the Senate, should he be expelled?” Graham said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “If you lose, you give the Senate seat to a Democrat at a time where we need all the votes we can get.

“The moral of the story is don’t nominate someone like Roy Moore who can actually lose the seat any other Republican could win,” the South Carolina Republican told anchor Dana Bash. “And what I would tell President Trump: if you think winning with Roy Moore is going to be easy for the Republican Party, you’re mistaken.”

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

Well he’s child molester..so whaddya gonna do?

  • Anastasia Beaverhousen

“I do declare that Moore boy done made me ever so angry!”

    • David Walker

When you realize one mint julep won’t suffice.

  • Friday

Well, he’s got that part right, but what about Moore having demonstrated as an elected but twice-de-benched elected judge and Dominionist anti-American that he’s completely unfit for an office of public trust just in general?

    • gaycuckhubby

Yep. And thats what he’s saying. Moore should never have been the nominee

  • Dayglo

Roy Moore is the Republican “brand.” Sorry, you guys need to live with that.

  • bkmn

Roy Moore and Trump are the direct result of decades of constantly pushing the party farther and farther to the right, while pushing all moral standards into the trash ma’am.

    • IDavid

They probably think, ‘if the Dems get gay marriage then by all means the Repubes should get legal pedophilia. It’s only fair.’

      • Jeffrey

“Well we did say that gay marriage would lead to pedophilia, we just didnt say which group would be doing it”

        • IDavid

You’re absolutely right. That said, they’ve dragged the Democrats to right as well. There’s a clip of a recent interview with President Obama. He states that his views are those of a moderate Republicans, from the nineties. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9b1577d09ead0fe43c7282bbbc97e5e6d153745d0b527c84559558a5f29efde8.jpg

“Dr. James Dobson says Moore is a good man. That’s all that matters to me.” – my parents

    • gaycuckhubby

      Ugghh. Im sorry

    • northern_neighbour

Uhm… Deepest Condolences as well! …. uhm do your parents hum … realize … your …sexual …. uhm … orientation at all?

Has the “good” Dr. Dobson counselled them on how to get you into orientation therapy?

Their pain over this must be unimaginable … I mean where oh where could they have gone so terribly wrong? I mean the feelings of guilt they probably endure day after day! Alas! Alas! /snark

      • fastlanestranger

They didn’t throw me out of the house for nothing! 😉 And yes, I went through “therapy”. It was a bunch of self-loathing queers looking to hook up with each other.

        • wineflask

being unloved by one’s parents is terrible. Here’s hoping you have found or will find a chosen family and flourish.

          • fastlanestranger

Thank you my friend. It was tough going for a while but I have a wonderful support group now and my parents have even come a long way in their acceptance of me.

        • northern_neighbour

What wineflask says below is very true, … but, sadly, in the long run it is their loss perhaps more than your own.

Conservative “christian” parental love is often NOT unconditional, ( witness the tens of thousands of kids kicked out like you were) and in that respect they fail in their most basic human opportunity to love. Talk about being broken human beings.

Sad that their own self esteem was so fragile that they could not even bring themselves to follow Christ’s most important command.

They are damn lucky that you are still alive, and that you even bother to reach out occasionally. I guess their own rigid beliefs were drilled in and enforced way before the age of reason. They were long ago victims of religious indoctrination child abuse, could not get over it, and the quality of their life is greatly diminished as a result.

The good news: you survived, found pride and self respect, friends, got a life and know that Love is Love. Congrats! You get to choose your life, and family of your own choosing. But anyhow, here’s hoping Moore goes down in flames on Dec. 12th. Cheers!

        • Treant

So the sex was awful even if there was a lot of it.

Hopefully you’re in a stable situation now, with lots of friends and your own created family!

          • fastlanestranger

LOL I never hooked up with any of those guys. I was super-young and filled with a terrible shame. But yeah…there was a lot of lip licking and sweating going on at those sad meetings.

“The moral of the story is don’t nominate someone like Roy Moore”

Are they going to return to the smoke-filled rooms of yester-year as their nominating process?

    • David Walker

      Besides, didn’t the two-time ex-judge win via republican’t primary?

      • clay

Not so much “besides”, but “because”. Lindseybelle is bitching about nomination via primary?

    • Cuberly Deux

      Breitbart’ll loooooove that.

    • Boreal

They want to do away with all of that and return to govs appointing senators.

    • Reality.Bites

I would suggest doing away with registering as a Republican, Democrat or Independent and go to the concept other countries have of having party memberships where the people have to care enough to spend $10 and go to a nomination meeting.

  • Bluto

We’ve all known this for awhile, but the gop & evangelicals have OFFICIALLY forfeited any claim to “family values” & morality.

  • Ray Page

Let’s go to the score card… Roy Moore has 4 or 5 accusers? Donald Trump has 16 accusers, and is an admitted sexual predator. I think the GOP brand is already sullied beyond repair, Lindsey.

    • Bluto

I think roy is up to at least 9.

  • Kevin Perez

Oh Lindseybelle, your voting record will read, “100% Voted With The Pedophile”.

    • Bluto

This. Lindseybelle can clutch his pearls to hell & back but he will fall in line with the sexual predators & pedophiles.

    • Reality.Bites

Not necessarily – Moore is the antithesis of a team player and owes nothing to the national Republican establishment OR Trump.

There’s every chance, for example, that he’ll refuse to support legislation that’s not mean-spirited and hate-filled enough.

  • Natty Enquirer

Establishment opposition will only encourage Moore’s supporters. After Moore is elected, I predict the abuse allegations will be forgotten after a few distracting messages from Twitler.

    • Cuberly Deux

…and, knowing Moore he’ll do his victory laps LOUDLY. He loves the negative attention. Maybe the GOP will just sit on their hands but the stench of Moore ain’t gonna go away.

  • Blake J Butler
    • BobSF_94117

Person of the Year isn’t about being “fascinating”. It’s about a person’s influence on the world. That person, this year, is Vladimir Putin. Hands down.

      • Jeffrey

        Unfortunately true.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

If only Vlad’s face on Time’s cover would make Dump twitter, “How dare you put his face on the cover instead of mine!”

        • Reality.Bites

I predict he’ll use it as “proof” it’s the Democrats colluding with Russia because “their” publication is “honouring” him.

  • gaycuckhubby

    He is absolutely right

  • Harveyrabbit

Well lucky for him Pelosi is mitigating a lot of that risk with her defense of Conyers.

  • iLoveEggplant
  • SoCalGal20

Once Moore is seated all the agnst and handwringing will magically disappear. They just need a vote and they don’t care what they have to do to get it.

    • Joe Maynard

It is so fucking transparent. Moore will win. The senate will refuse to seat him. The governor will appoint a rubber stamp, or re-appoint Luther Strange (much the same thing). Results: senate Republican leadership claims a moral victory (for refusing to seat the evil man), senate Republican caucus retains control. Everybody’s happy, except for those who might actually want to address the country’s problems, but who gives a shit about them.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

And the shittiest thing is the Alabama base voters will huff and puff about their man being booted out but will inevitably vote GOP in 2018 and 2020.

      • Dayglo

Can we then finally write Alabama off as a lost cause? Please.

      • E.J.

Then Trump appointments Moore as federal court judge. (Recess appointment)

        • Sporkfighter

Trump and Moore are both grandstanding drama queens. I don’t think they’d play well together; there’s too much drama to be had by each poking the other with a stick.

          • clay

Maybe THAT’s why we don’t see much of Sister Sarah?

      • Sporkfighter

…unless the Democrats refuse to “overturn the expressed intent of the Alabama voters.”

        • (((GC)))

That would be delicious karma! States’ rights, the will of the people, all the arguments Rethuglicans selectively used when they favored their regressive agenda.

      • thatotherjean

I’m not entirely sure that the Senate can refuse to seat him, if he is elected. They can vote to unseat him, but that gets to be a lot harder, once he’s there. Either way, though, he’s a weapon against the GOP in the midterms. It’s what he could do before that that scares me.

  • edrex

i guess you dance with the molester that brung ya.

  • Blake J Butler
    • BobSF_94117

You can see how those last two points are tied together.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

I honestly think that a lot of non-tiki torch white people seem to want to think even the worst white people in our country are redeemable in a way they would never claim of someone from ISIS without realizing that aside from the name of the religion involved, they’re basically the same.

  • Sam_Handwich
    • Skeptical_Inquirer

      He should resign period.

      • Boreal

He should be entitled to an inquiry and why should he resign but not trump?

well Miz Linsay Belle. Had you all been actin like the politicans you all s;posed ta be In stead of we are all for the GOP. Ifn y’all had bin takin care o buzness y’all wunna be in this pickle

  • Chucktech

    Oh, Lindsey-Belle, what a may-ess…

  • OdieDenCO

no lindsey! this is a squeal. you and your gop minions elected a “man” to the highest office of the land with the same credentials as moore. you and your gop minions put a “man” in the SCOTUS with the same credentials as moore. you and your gop minions have already closed the debate on “do we believe these woman” with a resounding Not!

  • AdamTh

I thought it was a done-deal, the GOP leadership would move to expel Moore ASAP. Guess that won’t be happening anytime soon…

    • Reality.Bites

I haven’t followed this aspect of the story fully, but I understand there are difficulties with that – only one person has ever been expelled. Others stepped down when faced with expulsion, so the expulsion never happened.

Moore will clearly not co-operate, IMO

      • Tor

And the Democrats have to co-operate. It might be in their better interests to have a Republican loose cannon, since they wouldn’t get that seat back, anyway.

        • Skeptical_Inquirer

I don’t think the Dems should cooperate unless they get something out of it, UP FRONT.

  • mjsatty

No more golf games with Trump for Graham

  • thatotherjean

I don’t agree with much that Lindsey Graham says, but he’s absolutely right on this one. Republicans have painted themselves into a corner, and Democrats shouldn’t let them out of it without cost. Come 2018, Roy Moore should appear in every campaign ad a Democrat runs.

    • clay

Only if Trump’s not even more loathed at that point in time.

  • Ben in Oakland

    Shorter li dseybelle.

I want Moore to win, but don’t want to say so.

    • clay

If Moore wins, Lindsey will call him “the honorable gentleman”, just as he does for Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and all the other crazies on his side of the room.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

I don’t see this verse remembered to point out their hypocrisy but how about Matthew 4:8-4:10:

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written,“‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”

    • clay

No, see, Jesus withstood the temptations so Lindsey doesn’t have to.

  • Claude Jacques Bonhomme
  • ian

While Roy Moore in the Senate would be an entertaining disaster for the GOP in many ways, he’d still vote the party line I assume. It’s far more important than ever to elect Democrats like Doug Jones to block the GOP. Hopefully we can elect more dems in 2018 and 2020 to try and undo some of the damage the GOP has done.

  • “you give the Senate seat to a Democrat at a time where we need all the votes we can get”? You need all the votes you can get to kick millions off of health insurance? You need all the votes you can get to give billionaires a tax break (that they won’t spend) and raise poor and lower-middle class taxes? You need all the votes you can get to disenfranchise the minority vote? You need all the votes you can get to protect the complicit Congress? You need all the votes you can get to protect the clear and present danger, that is YOUR president? You’re committing treason with your inaction against this illegal administration.

  • kareemachan

Now if that isn’t a limp-wristed whine about a pedophile, I don’t know what is.

Alabama has a chance here to actually make a real difference. They can say we have had enough of this shit guys.
