Via press release:

With a career spanning six decades, Barbra Streisand is a legend of both stage and screen with a loyal, loving fanbase. In the Netflix film concert event she is joined by an exciting roster of special guests, including a special duet with Jamie Foxx, as she takes audiences on a journey of her life’s work, like a stroll down mem’ry lane with a good friend.

Directed by Jim Gable and Barbra Streisand, Barbra: The Music…The Mem’ries…The Magic!, a Netflix film, is produced by Ann Kim and Ned Doyle, with Streisand and Marty Erlichman serving as executive producers. The film is written by Streisand, Jay Landers and Richard Jay-Alexander.

The film launches tomorrow and Babs was on the Ellen DeGeneres show today to promote it.

  • Nice to read something unexpected about a celebrity which isn’t scandal or them suddenly being dead. Thanks Joe!

  • MikeBx2

    That voice… Love ya Babs.

    • another_steve

I think her “Evergreen” is my all-time favorite of hers.

An exquisite song sung by an exquisite lady.

      • PickyPecker

Loved all the music from the show, but for me this is Babs….perfection in range and timing.

          YAAAS!

        • Lumpy Gaga

She’s lost a little bit of her instrument over the last 10 or so years, but this is really her in her moment. Now you haters hush and leave us be.

        • daddyarch

I remember…I wanted to BE Barbra and get fucked by Omar.

  • another_steve

I look forward to her 150th Farewell Concert tour.

  • Rex

Love me some Babs, and I’m not just saying that to keep my Gay Card in gold status.

    • Tom Furgas

I suppose I should turn in my Gay Card, as I cannot stand Streisand.

      • Rex

As long as you like dick, I’ll think you’re good, but I would avoid discussing Streisand in mixed company.

        • Tom Furgas

Actually, I like her singing. It’s her domineering and demanding personality that grates on me. This was pointed up for me when I saw a 60 Minutes interview with her and she started directing their camera crew. I know she wanted to make sure she looked good but it wasn’t her crew to boss around.

          • Roger B

Tom, I respectfully reply by asking you if you would not want to look your very best if Mike W was interviewing you and you were the biggest star in Hollywood?

          • Jennifer

      • Jeffg166

I like her acting better then her singing.

        • doninkansas

I don’t care for either one or her personality.

      • Guest

Turn it in at the door as you leave. This cannot be tolerated.

      • doninkansas

same here, never have liked her.

  • edrex

finally. it’s about time joe posted some real news.

    • another_steve

Yes, but it will be revealed tomorrow that she once inappropriately touched the crotch of an adoring homosexual fan of hers.

      (But he loved it…)

  • Cuberly Deux
    • misterjack

I remember when Jim Bailey was on The Lucy Show as Phyllis Diller!

      • Cuberly Deux

I have recollections of his Judy Garland but I can’t remember what show I saw him on. There were so many variety shows in the 70s….they all sort of blur together…lol…

    • Roger B

This was decades ago and Barbra is still going strong! What an icon for the ages. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/8e6b574d188d1db489b1d52ebaf288e27aec4edfc65e790b7d7b0fcf22595333.jpg

      • Cuberly Deux

        Such a fun movie.

      • Avenger280

I had such a crush on her when I first saw this movie when I was 12 (and OMG that scene where she’s running around the hotel room wearing just a bath towel 😉 )

      • Avenger280
      • Jeff Eastwood

Hand to gawd, that is my favorite movie of all time.

  • bkmn

Obviously her good side is her left side.

  • joeyj1220

For all you young little gaylings… THAT is gay icon!!

    • Surpassing Cher and Judy Garland both.

      Well, okay, maybe not Judy.

      😉

      • another_steve
        • Kevin Perez

I’ll see your Garland and raise you a Streisand AND a Merman
          https://youtu.be/W7AViKc52P0

          • another_steve

Lol. Thank you so much for that. Made my day. 😉

            Hadn’t seen it in decades.

      • andrew

The idea that show biz personalities are or should be gay icons seems ridiculous to me. Our icons should be people who spent their lives championing for LGBT equality. Not singers.

        • another_steve

Fuck the champions of LGBT equality.

Give us gay boys the divas. swoon

          • andrew

Not all gay guys need “divas.” I sure don’t.

          • another_steve

You don’t long to be one?

            I do.

          • andrew

I’m a guy. Why would I want to be a diva? Are you just messin with me?

          • another_steve

I don’t think you possess the Gay Gene, andrew.

            I just don’t.

          • andrew

I’m 100% gay. I’m into guys, not girls or divas.

          • another_steve

You cannot be 100% gay and not into the divas.

            It doesn’t work that way.

          • sfbob

I stand in favor of the “big tent” definition of gay.

I was a Streisand fan as a kid who grew up not even realizing he was gay. Strangely enough I lost interest in her music about the time I came out, though I continue to admire her. I became, of all things, a jock. Could not have imagined that happening when I was a boy. Then again I couldn’t have imagined having a husband either. Even a common law husband.

I rather get a kick out of reminding my friends that I’m not a Gold Star gay. I did have a girlfriend. We did have a sex life. It worked out fine until I discovered how much more I liked people with penises.

We’re all put together the way we’re put together. All of the alternatives should be respected. I rather thought that was the point of that whole “gay liberation” thing we went through (though I missed most of it).

          • another_steve

“Gay,” for me, is the embrace of both “male” and “female.”

I am male and biologically “preset” to mate with females, though for whatever reason I choose to mate with other males. The reason for that is beyond the ability of my human understanding to comprehend.

I embrace the female also, in other ways, though.

I do so because it’s in the interest of species continuance to embrace all of nature – male and female.

        • Nick

Those people who feel that their only icons should be people who champion LGBTQ rights have the luxury of living in a time when there are such people. For many of us, Judy, Barbra, Cher, and others gave us the music that inspired us to believe in ourselves so that WE could champion ourselves, which led to your definition of icons. And Barbra has long been one of our friends. for the record.

Let everyone choose their own icons and heroes.

  • Treant

I can’t. I can only maintain an erection that hard for so long, and after 2 hours of Barbra, I’d need to simply burn the shorts and pants I was wearing. No way are you getting that much pre-c out of them.

    • Joe in PA
      • Treant

I had an ex-boyfriend…but that story is rather rique. And if I consider it risque, the rest of you will consider it downright pornographic.

        • MT YVR

Ok so nice preamble. Get on with the meat of it.

          So. To speak. 😉

          • Treant

The undershorts stayed on until they were so wet that they left slime trails on your hands or he wasn’t into it. This could take several hours, by which time you had gone from slightly horny to really turned on to raving animal.

By the time one got down and dirty, it wasn’t exactly long-lasting, but…you also really didn’t care. Lying there in a puddle of your own goo was more important.

          • MT YVR

Awwwww. I thought it was gonna be tawdry. It’s just a description of how it works.

            (evil grin)

If you do it right. 😛

          • Guest

OK, ummm…..Can we talk about something else now?

          • Robincho

In Honolulu years ago, I once had an Asian student who bore the slightly oxymoronic name of Prudence Goo…

          • Treant

It’s worse that she’d be called Prue Goo. It sounds like a kinky sex product or a not-very-effective glue.

          • sfbob

Sounds like heaven to me. Either that or a shortcut to a heart attack. But at least I’d die happy.

  • Boreal

‘With a career spanning six decades.’

    I feel old

  • kanehau

I know this will probably get me a permanent ban from JMG… but I never really found her voice nor acting to be very compelling.

Edit: Oh oh… I started something

    • Treant

      YOU GODLESS WHORE!

      • kanehau

        Well… that didn’t take long 😉

        • MT YVR

We of the official monitoring and judicial branch of the Gay Agenda like to be vigilant. So.. yeah.

      • MT YVR

You say that like it’s a bad thing….

    • joeyj1220
      • kanehau

Stop looking at me that way!

    • Lazycrockett

Psst I find her acting atrocious and she was too old for Yentl.

      • Joe in PA

Oh, let’s talk about too old…Meryl Streep bouncing around that bed like an old cow in Mama Mia.

        [ducking]

        • kanehau

Meryl Streep is off limits buster!

          • Joe in PA

Gasp! I think you started this buster. 🙂

        • MT YVR

          (hugs Joe in PA good-bye)

It was nice knowing you, darlin. But… I’m sure the death you’re facing will be filled with vitriol and fire.

        • Lazycrockett

Joan Creekford playing a perfume “girl” in The Women??????

          • Joe in PA
          • Lazycrockett

            Princess?

          • Jeff Eastwood

            Crystal Allen!

          • another_steve

What?!? You’re mocking The Crawford !!1!!

i hate you i hate you i hate you!

          • Lumpy Gaga

I’m afraid that when men come to this counter they have other women on their minds.

            Hope this helps!!!

      • Roger B

Then you must have hated Grease, all the actors were well past High School age. This happens frequently in Hollywood. Another example is Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate.

      • JDS

LOL! Thank you for the In & Out quote. 🙂

    • another_steve

My (small, very small) problem is/was the sometimes over-orchestration of her music.

Too many violins and the like competing with her exquisite voice.

    • Roger B

Did you see “What’s Up Doc?” It is a great film for non believers. She is fantastic and quite beautiful in it.

  • TrueWords

    Barbra and Patrick Wilson…PURE GOLD!!!!

      he’s like butta’

    • Mikey

      I love “Loving You”… except… it’s not a duet, and to me doesn’t work as a duet.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAC8ztn-KEU

I think “No one has ever loved me” would have been a better choice:

      https://youtu.be/3o27q9QEFMU

      • another_steve

Donna Murphy’s version of “Loving You” is an incredible moment in music artistry.

Thank you so much for posting that, Mikey.

        • Mikey

watching the video was a serious mistake. I am a bit fragile emotionally today, and that just pushed me over the edge.

          • another_steve

            Love to you, my friend.

            Stay with us, here.

      • londonbuddy

It’s been so long since i’ve listened to ‘Passion’ such an incredibe, complex score and story. Thanks for the reminder!

Though i really don’t like the ‘barbra-isms’ she puts on nearly every line….

  • Treant

OT: November 21st, and the windows are wide open. My home office is 75 degrees due to the sun shining in, even with the wind blowing through. Outside? Sixty and rising.

It’s a good last chance to ditch the dirty air before winter, I guess. Although I do wonder how much it helps, really.

    • kanehau

      Same here!

      Oh wait… I’m in Hawaii.

      • misterjack

        Ugh. It’s 27F here.

    • Jeffg166

My friend in Tucson sent me his projected weather for the week. To be 90 Thanksgiving day. Real roast turkey weather. I suggested he serve frozen turkey pops.

      • Treant

(shudder). We’re 43, which is pretty normal. Even a little cold. 90 would be unimaginable.

        • Jeffg166

He’s not happy about it either. “Normal” would be in the 70’s. Looks like endless summer this year.

  • Blake J Butler

Charlie Baker makes Massachusetts the first state to ensure free birth control.

    https://twitter.com/thinkprogress/status/933032288862068739

    • sfbob

To make it all completely surreal, Baker’s a Republican. One can tell he has no interest in running for higher office, at least not as a Republican.

  • Tomcat

Since republicans hate her I have to love her. But even if they didn’t I would still love her.

    • Lazycrockett

She is in all of their’s closet.

  • misterjack

She looks great! I know she’s probably had tons of work done, but unlike so many other actors of a certain age (that have had a lot of plastic surgery), she still manages to retain her human self.

And her voice is like BUTTAH!

  • Blake J Butler
  • she seems like a fun person and made some movies i liked. not a fan of her music, but to each etc. i suppose a film about your life would feel pretty special.

  • TK
  • Keith D Plane

Geez I was over her years ago. Won’t be watching this

    • SDG

I am sure she is heartbroken!

      • Keith D Plane

        bite me asshole

        • SDG

Wow, what a nice guy you are!
