Hate Group Opens Meeting With….Flag Dancing [VIDEO]

Raw Story reports:

MassResistance, a notorious anti-LGBT group based in Massachusetts, recently opened up a conference with the curious decision to have a man perform an interpretive dance while holding two rainbow-colored flags.

Media Matters reports that the group, which held a conference in Texas earlier this month with the goal of “Countering the LGBT Agenda,” had a man holding two rainbow flags come on stage to dance while waving them around.

  • Boreal

    Seems pretty gay.

    • kaydenpat

      LOL? Ya think?

    • olandp

      So, so gay!

    • paganguy

I dunno… maybe if he’d made his entrance riding a unicorn down a rainbow carpet. THAT would have looked gay.

      • David L. Caster

Come in on a litter carried by 4 large scantily clad muscleman in bondagewear. Now that would have been gay.

        • Joseph Miceli

I really miss Judy Tenuta… not for her singing skills, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hliW07PD1zk

          • David Walker

            It could happen.

          • Jonathan Smith

but WHY does it NOT happen to me!!!!!!!!!

          • sfmike64

Funny story. Was walking down Market St in SF about 8 years ago past Cafe Flore. There was a poster on a light pole that said “JUDY TENUTA ! TONIGHT!”

And I said to the huzz, “Judy Tenuta, whatever happened to her?”

And I hear THAT VOICE say “I’M RIGHT HERE, PIG!”

I literally bowed in reverence to her and her comic timing. 🙂 She was very nice. 🙂

    • Richard, another Canuck

      Gay, Gay, Gay…

    • Liberace gay!

    • OliveYurdic

Oooh girl, her anti-gay hate ain’t gonna hold her artistic side in the closet.

What is this? ^ I see Madeline Kahn, Tim Curry, is that Lesley Anne Warren…and???

        • jerry

          • Danieruw

The singing telegram girl (Jane Weidlin of the Go-Go’s) just rang the doorbell.

  • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

Rainbow colored hearts flag dance to lyrics, “Love keeps no record of wrongs”? Was the group infiltrated and this was a subversive dance? I hope it was, because the dancer was adorable and danced with joy, so I hope he’s not really a self-hating tortured soul at heart.

  • AC

    now, they’re just trolling

    • Lizard

They should really stick to straight hating. Trolling isn’t working out.

    • Gustav2

      They making flag dancing butch!

      teehee.

    • StraightGrandmother

OMG, I laughed so hard at your comment.

  • Treant

    No homo.

I said no homo! Damn it, that means it’s totally not gay!

  • Boreal

That gurl has seen many a backroom glory hole. She flits like box of birds.

    • Tread

      The pee tub at Cellblock.

  • another_steve

    Hate turns you insane.

  • Lakeview Bob

Queerest thing I have seen in a long time. Nice ass man.

    • Jeffrey

      I did think that

  • crewman

A frumpy man dressed in business attire performing a very awkward flag dance says a lot about them. It entirely misses the point of the celebration of freedom that dance represents. They see that dance and cringe at the thought of happy gay people, but secretly they are envious of our happiness and freedom. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t copy us.

  • Jake

    Gurl…

  • JoeMyGod

Eldergays will remember when fan dancing segued into flag dancing sometime in the early 80s. The flags were much easier to transport to the clubs and certainly posed less danger to passersby. Interestingly, I’ve seen a small resurgence in fans in recent years.

    • paganguy

Because in a hot, steamy club, fans are both functional and attractive.

      • Tread

But annoying as fuck when all you hear is the damn “clack, clack, clack” to the beat of the bass.

      • CanuckDon

And you’re likely not going to hit the others around you with it.

        • paganguy

Well no, that would be terribly ill-mannered.

        • JoeMyGod

Somehow I never got speared with a fan but I’ve been clocked a few times by the little washers that serve as weights in the flags.

          • CanuckDon

Knock out someone’s contact lens if they’re not careful.

          • David L. Caster

Flags are better weighted with curtain shot cord in the corners.

    • Rocco

Always loved the fans…they made me feel part of the tribe.

    • KCMC

Forget the Denver club in that era. Just out, pumping music, sweaty shirtless leatherman fan dancing into near flight.
      Was breathtaking.

    • It’s people who did flag corps in high school. It looks great at parades but takes a lot of practice. This loser up front, not so much.

    • Joe in PA

Eldergay??? For remembering something from the 80s?

      Well! Harrrruuummmppphhh. I never.

We hate the homos! But damm some of their stuff is fun AF!

Maybe the sex is too ???

    • kaydenpat

Maybe? I’m sure these guys know the answer to that question.

  • Jefe5084
  • Lane

And by “notorious”, we mean “hilarious”. We definitely got marriage equality faster in Massachusetts because of these guys.

    • kaboobie

I’m reminded of a joke Jimmy Tingle used to make about William Weld: “In Massachusetts, even our Republican Governor is a liberal Democrat.” And even the homophobes are gay.

    • Rocco

      As it should be done…

      • Butch

Hmmmm…..much as I usually do everything in my power to avoid cities, I may have to visit this festival.

        • Rocco

It should not be missed…not many things like it. It’s an experience that will not leave you.

          • David L. Caster

I second that emotion. Almost a required pilgrimage for the faithful.

    • Lizard

      Damn they’re good!

      • Jonathan Smith

I’m sorry, were there flags involved?

        • Todd20036

          Yeah, they were cute!

    • Treant

Come on, studs, move those sausage-packers! Oh, yeah, there seems to be a female there, too. Possibly two.

    • Todd20036

When you have people who are proud of who they are and have fun doing it, this is what you get.

    • Ore Carmi

      They actually look good.

  • CanuckDon

This is what happens when you get rid of all the gay bars. The closet cases have to find alternative ways to show off their flag dancing skills.

  • Rocco

Way gay, no getting around that…

  • romanhans

Who was the follow-up act, Wayland and Madame?

  • kaydenpat

    Well, that’s ….. special.

  • kanehau

I just watched it with no sound on … that was just totally gay.

  • HZ81

    The Ted Haggart Dance Ensemble?

  • Jim

    Oh
    My
    God
    😳

  • FAEN

Yeah that’s not gay AT ALL! 😏

I agree with Lakeview Bob-nice ass.

  • Gene Perry

    Satire maybe? I’m confused.

  • Bluto

The only way that could of been gayer is if he was shooting glitter out of his asshole.

  • Boreal

I love self -hating gay men! /s

“Yes, yes you did son. Now please don’t ever do that again.”

Here’s an interesting 2011 interview with one of San Francisco’s most well-known flaggers. I watched him many, many times in the late 90s.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRDz_NTUJ-E

  • Jeffrey

Oh. Ma god. That was intensely gay. Like lube up Liza Minelli and shove her up Paul Lyde’s asshole while Waylon Flowers works Madame from under a piano gay.

    • Bj Lincoln

Thank you! I almost choked on my coffee.

  • Tread

These idiots have lost the plot. Oh well, at least some of them are on the verge or coming back to reality.

  • The_Wretched

  • Jonathan Smith
  • Lizard

So…they’ll fight the “LGBT agenda” by doing one of the gayest-looking activities known to man?

    Okay.

  • ikahana

Were they unable to afford a Carol Channing impersonator?

  • Phil Touchette

Someone needs to go up to her and say “girl, the Pride Festival is in Hall B, not Hall C.”

    • Rocco

      Lol

  • Lumpy Gaga

    Blackface.

    • Todd20036

Yup, but with using flags to insult LBGTs rather than makeup to insult blacks.
The biggest difference is that they wound up looking gay from their stupid dance – and desperate to come out about it.

    • edrex

but can you do the flag dance with a straightface?

  • Frostbite

It was gay back then, yep, still gay now.

  • Friday’s_cat

    MassResistance got trolled?
The group name sounds like they’re against pedophile priests.

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

OT: Here’s a good reason to wave some flags. Mugabe has, at long last, resigned.

  • Todd20036

I think they were trying to “reclaim” the rainbow by saying that even straight guys can dance with it and not be gay.
And I think they are also trying to “contaminate” the rainbow image to the point that we would no longer want to use it.
All they managed to do was to look like a bunch of closeted queers, which is pretty much what they are.

    • Bj Lincoln

      Exactly.

  • Blake J Butler
    • BearEyes

      Sing it, Claire!
More people need to hear this.

Nah. He’s not good enough at it for it to be the gayest thing ever.

      Still pretty gay though.

  • Baltimatt

Rather tepid applause, wouldn’t you say?

    • KCMC

      Not turgid. At. All.

    • Lizard

I went to a “Christian dance ministry” performance once to support a friend. Most of the applause was the same…you know you’re supposed to clap, but you’re mostly too confused to really try.

      • BobSF_94117

What would you expect to hear from the sound of one hand clapping?

From the headline, I thought this was going to be a gay parody or protest using our beloved flag dancing; however there is an enthusiasm I applaud in his performance. The irony is that it’s so dang gay and he doesn’t even realize it. The other side of the debate is that we can’t let them take everything away from us. Some things should be kept sacred.

Maybe I don’t have a good read on this, but you’ve got to have a special kind of stubbornness to be part of a hate group based on super-blue Massachusetts.

  • hdtex

The song is by a Christian singer named Matthew West, who seems to do some very catchy Jesus music, the kind that sounds like a soundtrack for a night of sexxxy romance with the Messiah. We do not know whether or not West signed off on having his music used for this, which we can only describe as “color-guarding away the gay.” It works, though. Obviously.
