Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey: I Have No Reason Not To Believe Moore’s Accusers But I’m Still Voting For Him

The Birmingham News reports:

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said today she plans to vote for Roy Moore in the Dec. 12 election for the U.S. Senate despite allegations of Moore’s sexual encounters with teenage girls about 40 years ago, which Moore has adamantly denied.

“I believe in the Republican Party, what we stand for, and most important, we need to have a Republican in the United States Senate to vote on things like the Supreme Court justices, other appointments the Senate has to confirm and make major decisions. So that’s what I plan to do, vote for Republican nominee Roy Moore.”

Ivey said today she was bothered by the allegations against Moore, but had to weigh all the available information. She was asked if she believed Moore’s accusers. “I certainly have no reason to disbelieve any of them,” Ivey said. “The timing is a little curious. But at the same time, I have no reason to disbelieve them.”

Say what you want about Trump voters,

        at least they voted.

        • Blake J Butler

Hmmm if only the left was motivated to vote for Hillary and downballot dems, instead of throwing their votes away on trump, that latte liberal stein, or deliberately staying home to punish the DNC because they thought bernie was cheated out of the nomination.

And refusing to vote for candidates unless they meet a purity test of a man who refuses to help the party, but overwhelmingly bitches that the party needs to listen to him and tell others how to run their party.

Trump voters are poor white trash being fed a pipe dream of jobs galore that will never come, and banana republicans looking for their taxcuts from programs benefiting said working class voters that voted for trump.

And the old left that used to vote democrat but are now republicans, saw that old pipe dream in sanders, because both of them gave people what they wanted to hear, not what they needed to hear, which is what Hillary gave those voters, and they are the ones that truly suffered.

But i refuses an ounce of sympathy for those people, since they will never learn.

P.S. its not a dig at you, directed at you, its just got me fired up again talking about it.

          • LesbianTippingHabits

I held my nose, made a choice, and supported the Democratic nominee.

Even though I voted for Bernie in the primary and she wasn’t perfect.

          • Blake J Butler

The perfect candidate will never exist, and much will be lost in the attempt to find what doesn’t exist.

          • Ross

            Yep.

          • LesbianTippingHabits

True. But real people don’t like being taken for granted, or ignored.

Hillary Clinton did not visit Wisconsin which Donald Trump barely won.

          • Blake J Butler

Polls are indicators of where to go, Wisconsin was the blue wall with Pennsylvania, Michigan, etc. If you’re down in Florida you go to Florida, It was relied upon that the blue wall would support her, and the voters didn’t cause god knows no one paid a damn attention to her platform and her proposals, all the attention was on her fucking emails. No one could trust her because they shoved the fucking emails every damn day as an indicator that she’s not viable for office, but pussy grabbing was excusable.

You also had to deal with the sexism and rampant persecution complex of the persecuted white male in the south and the rust belt, a trend that was brewing before Obama came onto the scene, but full on erupted after he was elected, and Hillary was just a casualty of the white base of the country, that is selfish, racist, socially views totally skewed when it contradicts with religion, the party, and what fox news tells them to believe.

And also look at the wasted votes for a Republican-lite who supported SSM and weed and wanted more rights back to the states instead of SCOTUS, a latte liberal who only held one office on a small level, with contradictory views given she has investments in wall street despite moaning against wall street, as well as dining with Putin.

          • Since when has either party ever nominated a perfect candidate?

          • LesbianTippingHabits

In answer to your question, Never.

But I was very tempted to Vote Against Hillary.

Perhaps I should have. Thank you.

  • Buford

This is effectively verbatim to what John Cornyn said when asked about Roy Moore (pre-sex allegations) and Donald Trump… effectively, “I don’t have to like what they say or do… I support them because they are the candidate of my party”.

    Party over country, my friends.

    • Mikey

“Party over country” should be called what it is: treason.

      • Buford

Eh… I wouldn’t quite go that far, especially since these ‘party over country’ authoritarian assholes are in power only because their voting constituents put/keep them there.

        • Mikey

Their actions make them treasonous, not their being elected.
Once elected, a politician is responsible to his state, to his electorate… not to his party.

When a politician knowingly supports actions that are illegal/not in the best interest of the country, or that actually put the country in jeopardy on the international stage, then he/she has usurped the position to which they have been elected and betrayed the oath they have taken.

          • Buford

Maybe… but if someone openly commits treason (as you’ve defined it) and they are not prosecuted and they get re-elected repeatedly because their constituents support their actions, at what point do we start realizing that maybe the definition of ‘treason’ has unfortunately shifted…?

          • Mikey

It might be a point of redefining a government’s task as to prosecution of said offenders rather than blaming the (admittedly stupid) electorate.

          • Buford

Catch-22… you can’t change anything in Washington if voters keep electing folks who support the status quo. Only the voters can demand change…. can demand treason charges… etc., but those (admittedly stupid) voters seems to think everything’s going OK based upon their most recent votes.

          • Mikey

            I really can’t disagree with you that it’s a Catch-22, sadly.

  • boobert

We Jews do not make good vampires. Our mothers have never permitted it. The goyim, however, make excellent vampires.

            Look at this:

            https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2aa5adcfe482d36502b3c6ffcfa0a663690e0aa960f3ee6d45936ca5c54c45cc.jpg

          • OdieDenCO

blood is not kosher. a Jewish vampire would starve.

          • Reality.Bites

Actually the dietary laws will always allow exceptions for someone’s health. For example, pregnant women and the ill are not supposed to fast on Yom Kippur.

If that vampire’s rabbi was really on the ball, he’d point out that in refusing to take sustenance the vampire would be committing suicide, a far greater sin.

          • Bubba in TX

Are you sure about that? Because I’m pretty sure there are also several books of Jewish commentary that include 10 other opinions on the subject of vampires…from 9 different rabbis, of course.

          • Reality.Bites

The beauty of Judaism is that in such matters any rabbi is a law unto himself.

Of course depends how far you want to take the game. Because the existence of actual undead vampires would throw current mainstream religious beliefs in all faiths into a whirlwind.

So would the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life. Can you imagine the aliens’ hilarity at learning of the fairy tales even atheists feel compelled to respect people’s belief in?

          • Ben in Oakland

The Jared is like garlic or wolfsbane. It makes you not want to deal with vampires. Or not have to.

        • Treant

Good for you! Thanks for doing that.

Mine would have been sprinkled with inappropriate language.

          • Reality.Bites

Would you suggest she wash her mouth out with soap?

Do you ever, by design or accident, make nasty soap – something that’s appalling in colour or fragrance, but is still perfectly functional soap.

          • Treant

Frequently. Sometimes I can hot process it after the fact, boil off the scent, and replace it with something that doesn’t smell like ass.

While bad coloring is hard to correct, and warped coloring (where the initial hue has nothing to do with what it looks like in soap) often even harder, most of that can be hot processed and just toss in a lot of titanium dioxide (whitener) to cancel the hue.

Home-made soaps, not containing sodium laureth sulfate, but definitely containing tons of glycerin, taste sweet (the fragrance oils may be bitter or otherwise distasteful).

Plenty of people brush their teeth with tooth soap, 100% olive oil soap. It comes with the advantage that you can drink orange juice immediately after–another side effect of not having sodium laureth sulfate, which temporarily blocks your perception of sweet.

          • Reality.Bites

Wow it’s cool to know why it does that. I can testify it “works” with artificial sweeteners as well.

And did you ever consider there might be a market for soap the smells like ass?

          • Treant

Ass, yes. I have a scent called “Fresh Cut Grass” that is absolutely nothing like Fresh Cut Grass. More like Overly Perfumed Axe Spray On The Guy Cutting The Grass.

            Sometimes they need to age.

It’s aged for seven years and it’s not getting any better. I really should throw it out…but it’s actually a good counterbalance for a very deep noted spicy scent.

  • Ninja0980

You oppose the monogamous wedded relations of men and women who have had decades of demonstrated affection and love for one another. You claim to care for the sick and you deny them health care. You claim to love the elderly and want to attack their financial security by attacking Social Security. You are a hateful hypocrite. You say you are a patriot and you sell our government to the Russians so you can retain power.

        • another_steve

Lol. Love to you, Eddi, for “ganef.”

It means, literally, “crook” or “thief,” but figuratively it can describe any manner of bad or mischievous person.

Also, weasels of the non-human variety are actually adorable. Jared, not so much.

I’ve got a pair of needle nose pliers to do the job

      • Silver Badger

I seem to remember that the ferret is the only member of the weasel family that has been successfully domesticated. The do make a tolerable pet provided they are socialized properly.

        • Treant

Ozzy the Dancing Desk Weasel is a very rare exception, but yes–if you want a mustelid, get a ferret.

Ozzy was raised from very young by a human and, even so, is kind of vicious when he’s hungry. Since weasels can easily take down rabbits five times their size, that’s pretty vicious.

          • Silver Badger

Every once in awhile, one hears of a badger that has become someone’s pet. I wouldn’t want to count of how well domesticated, though.

        • Dazzer

In many parts of Europe, ferrets are common as household pets. They’re intelligent, affectionate and incredibly intelligent. However, they need lots of exercise and stimulation and the male ferrets will stink a house out.

Where I grew up in the north of England, several of my school friends had ferrets as pets. My sister was scared of rodents though, so I had to put up with queer gerbils instead – on the basis that my sister was less scared of small rodents than she was of big ones..

An interesting analysis of how Alabama’s election laws and party rules have neutered ANY Alabama GOPers from speaking against Moore. It boils down to self interest. They’re STILL deplorable people, but apparently acting rationally if they want to keep their jobs. UGH!

  • TampaDink

Oh the hypocrisy of that skank! Reminds me of my former b.f. & ex-wife, they were voted “family of the year” in their catholic parish in Milwaukee…within a year his wife had moved out & funded their eldest daughter’s first abortion. (I think that she made her earn her own money for the second one….and for all I know, there have been many more) Having said that…I am 100% pro-choice….but I am also 100% anti-hypocrisy.

    • Treant

We love to note which of the constant stream of protesters on Wednesday at our local abortion clinic is sneaking their daughters in on Tuesday and Thursday.

I’m convinced that’s why protests are only once a week. It gives those women four days to get their daughters abortions when they “make an honest mistake” unlike “those other whores.”

      • TampaDink

You are not wrong, my friend.

      • So it’s not just me. I unfriended a lot of people on Facebook to avoid the temptation of typing “You weren’t so anti-abortion during your pregnancy scare Sophomore year!”

        • Treant

It’s not just you. But they do tend to have a very, very warped view of other women and a very, very rose-colored-glasses view of their own daughters and themselves.

They’re not like those whores who have an abortion once a week just to kill a baby. Their daughter accidentally fell on a penis 450 times and it’ll never happen again (note: given the lack of sex ed, it usually happens again).

Been there, done that, heard the attempted justification, laughed in the hypocrite’s face, called them a hypocrite, and walked away.

BUT… this is ridiculous and both sides don’t do this!
I’m proud of Dems for attempting to deal with assault without excuses or victim blaming.
And Republican leaders who waver on Moore need to be condemned. Loudly.

Exactly why Trump updated his SCOTUS list and released it today.
And the sad thing is, as dumb and backwards as Republican voters are, they know the courts matter.
Hillary and Obama should have been talking about SCOTUS and the lower courts every single day.
They should have had a list of judges ready to go and talked about all of the issues that would be destroyed if she wasn’t elected.
    But they didn’t.
As I’ve said before, Democrats last act of courage in regards to the Judicial Branch was 1987 when they stopped Bork.
Since then, they have done nothing to stop the far right takeover of the judicial branch, and in many cases enabled it with their stupidity of wanting to play nice etc.

    • KnownDonorDad

And this was with the theft of President Obama’s SCOTUS appointment, too.

You women here on JMG should release your inner decadence. Which is as beautiful as our gay male decadence. πŸ˜‰

I’m fully a gay male, but I appreciate and enjoy female sensuality and sexuality.

        • JCF

Female sexuality IS different. While visuals still matter (believe me, they do), there is AT LEAST as much emphasis on narrative. A day or so ago, I posted pics of a couple of lovely ladies (Jessica Leccia and Freema Agyemann) whose KILLER SMILES warm *every single inch* of my body.

But better still is lovely female flesh WITH narrative. And what better—OF COURSE—than “Xena Warrior: Princess”?

I apologize in advance for the quality of this video. When YouTube (and every other video site I could find via Google: thanks guys /s) fails you, I’m stuck uploading clips I downloaded literally ***15+ years*** ago. But hopefully you can just barely see well enough to get the gist. All you need to know: this is from the final season of XWP. Xena and Gabrielle are—after 5+ seasons of various trials—FULLY in love, and don’t care who knows it! The end of the episode “The Return of the Valkyrie”:

          Le Sigh. This show… <3<3

          • another_steve

What you say there, JCF, I’ve heard from other women too.

It does seem that female sexuality is different in fundamental ways from male sexuality. “Narrative,” as you put it, isn’t as important to most men. To some men, yes. But not to most. I’m probably not the only man reading here who has had the experiencing of fast-forwarding through excessively “talky” segments of porn.

I can’t help but think that the differences serve evolutionary and species-survival purposes. We can only guess what those might be.

Perhaps nature intends for women to be more selective than men when it comes to sex partners. Breeding women may possess an innate drive to select “quality” mating partners. Best not to rush into matters. Many species reflect that biological drive. The females of many species carefully examine potential breeding male partners – their songs, their colors, their “displays,”

            Fun to think about.

Thanks for engaging me in this, JCF. πŸ˜‰

The only reason to watch it is to check out the cast, especially hot Martino Rivas and Yon Gonzalez strut around without shirts on in and out of the shower and wear incredibly tight matching prep school outfits. If you like girls they are all gorgeous and wear very tight sweaters and have big boobies. Here are Yon and Martino in the shower together — something they manage to do every episode.

Agreed πŸ™‚ hubby and I are hoping to expand our family soon! We’re looking into adoption options

          • Silver Badger

So many kids need loving homes. So many don’t have them. Good on you!

          • TampaDink

I admire adoptive parents from all walks of life. I know that it doesn’t equate…but all four of our late furbabies were adopted/rescued. We’re still reeling from the loss of the last one 2 weeks ago….but as we prepare for our move, not having a pup under foot makes this maddening process easier. We will be moving 4 urns…and once we are settled, another adoption will occur.

*Edited to add…..While we have been great with our dogs, we have always both been clearly aware that we do not have the patience for kids who talk back.

          • Sam_Handwich

            omg we’re just alike.

but it’s not PC to say any of that out loud.

          • Treant

            Sure it is.

I was asked by my psycho Quiverful ex-boss why I didn’t have children. I have a stock answer for that.

            “I can’t ever have children.”

Most people back off and go away. But not him, of course. “Why not?”

I have a stock answer for that, too.

            “Because I hate them.”

          • Silver Badger

Grandchildren and great grandchildren can be fun. For a short while. Then they go home. An excellent arrangement for all concerned.,

        • BJORN RAGNVALDR

That was one of the arguments my parents made, well, my mother did. Years after that, in therapy sorting out the source of all my issues at the time…mmm..,three guesses.
Through this time, talking to my aunt (my father’s sister) about some of this, I told her about the not giving them grandchildren.
She said “WHAT!? Ever wonder why your childhood was spent at my house, they’re not good with kids! Look at your own upbringing and what your sorting out. They don’t deserve grandchildren, they’d just fuck em up!”

As I’ve said several times, Roy is still gonna win. Kay Ivey’s announcement that she’s still voting for Roy gives the Republican women in Alabama cover to vote for him. They went for Trump overwhelmingly and they’re gonna go for Moore too.

The more that people outside of Alabama, including Republicans, turn against Roy the more the people of Alabama are gonna support him. Plus remember, in their eyes Roy still has God’s personal endorsement – it hasn’t been withdrawn. I know it sickens the rest of us, but people in Alabama don’t give a fuck what everyone else thinks.

I’m telling you – I live in the “TAG” corner (where TN, AL, and GA intersect) and I talk to people on the Alabama side all the time Some of our employees live in Ft. Payne, Alabama. They honestly believe that Roy is being attacked by the forces of evil.

    • Treant

So I’ve assumed. And frankly, even if he doesn’t win in Alabama, he’ll win in Alabama.

(Unless the establishment decides he’s too expensive, in which case, even if he wins in Alabama, he’ll lose in Alabama. But I don’t see that happening).

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

That’s sad. It really is because they think they’re being attacked by something outside themselves when really the forces of evil are within.

    • Oh, Parker

And as I’ve said many times, a lot of them who say they are voting for the Democrat will vote for Moore and later claim they didn’t. Because not looking like an molester enabler is more important than not being one.

  • SoCalGal20

Lisa Murkowski DID NOT say her support of the tax bill was contingent on Murray-Alexander. What she actually said is that is is undecided and her support isn’t contingent on Murray-Alexander.

    https://twitter.com/LauraLitvan/status/931653673427533830

    • Sam_Handwich

Murkowski included, i think there are too many senate republicans with nothing to lose politically by voting no on the bill

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

I think even Trumpies know the bill is just catnip for ultra rich and nobody else. Though stubbornly, they’ll blame Turtle and Ryan and not Dump.

      • SoCalGal20

I totally expect her to vote no when all is said and done, along with several other Rs but I was just pointing out she hasn’t said what that other tweet that’s going around has claimed about Murray-Alexander.

OT: Trump tweeted out an updated list of potential SCOTUS nominees. Twitterverse is rumbling about a post Thanksgiving retirement by Kennedy.

We are FUCKED if that happens. Anyone heard any other rumblings? Maybe just wishful thinking by Trump?

    • matrem

You really don’t get that this country is irrepably fucked, do you?

      • houstonray

Oh, I live in Texas. Trust me, I do. Maybe I should have said we are fucked for a generation or more if he gets to appoint another Justice. I believe we can begin to undo the damage if we can do what we need to in 2018. But we can’t undo a SCOTUS placement.

        • Treant

Given that the Republicans are acting like they don’t have to worry about the 2018 elections, and certainly not the 2020 elections, worry.

          Worry a lot.

    • I heard he told his clerks that he’s resigning at the end of this term. That was well over a month ago.

    • I believe it is, at present, wishful thinking. Immediately after they rammed through Gorsuch and installed him on his stolen seat, the GOPers were trying to spread rumors both Kennedy and our beloved Notorious RBG were about to retire.

  • Alpha 50327

Burn that entire shithole state to the ground. If the ‘sane’ people don’t get out and vote and defeat that asshole then fuck them too. This is their only chance to make a difference. Look at these two puppy images. Which is the more compelling?

    • Treant

      “Squee!”

      “Squeeee!”

I’d say the second one has 36 percent more squee. However, the composition is also pretty meh on the original image, including cutting off a little of the dog’s fur and the bottom of the tail.

Also, that dog is not thrilled with being held.

      • worstcultever

I think s/he looks pretty chill.

And I actually love the composition, the off-center of the pooch and the almost-centered total squee lower paws

What really kills me is the tiny nose and the whole undeveloped muzzle/face thing – anybody know what kind of pooch this is?

        • JCF

Neither chill nor not-thrilled. Instead the irresistable puppy “Huh?” look. “Pack Leader, my brain is only in the golf-tennis ball size range (did somebody say BALL???). And 3/4ths of that is devoted to servicing my nose. Can you explain what’s happening to me?”

Maybe it’s passive aggressive composition coaxing by designers. Turn the damn phone around!

What’s goofy is even when I take utilitarian pics with my phone (ALWAYS HORIZONTAL) I find myself framing using at least an impromptu version of the Golden Ratio. You can actually find Golden Ratio app overlays for the camera on your phone.

We can tsk, tsk as much as we want, but such strong tribal loyalty is why they control 75% of state and all of the federal government.

Politics is a game of tribal loyalty.

Until liberals learn that unchanging truth, they will only have political power after the GOP has burned everything down as in 2008. And then they will have it taken away from them as in 2016.

Vote in every election and vote blue no matter who is the way to beat them. But that’s not going to happen.

The world doesn’t owe anyone a pure candidate who makes you feel tingly all over. It’s nice if it happens. But the lesser of two evils is always less evil. Another political reality that liberals have trouble accepting.

    • Ninja0980

      Indeed.

And to think, once upon a time, Susan Sarandon sang “Tough-a touch-a touch me, I wanna be dirty.”

    • Paul

You say tribal loyalty. I say cult.

      • joe ho

Only the core Trumpanzees are cultists, seeing Trump as their savior. He got into office because most of the GOP, who can’t stand him, will do anything to keep the other tribe (Democrats) out of power. That’s tribal loyalty.

Whatever you want to call it, it works politically. They hold power because their voters turn out for every election and vote red no matter who. And liberal voters do not.

You can disdain the GOP voters’ behavior and feel that liberals/progressives are superior because they don’t fall in line, but that doesn’t help put Democrats into power. In fact, that’s why they have such trouble gaining power and then holding onto it.

What makes it worse is that liberal ideas are more popular, by far. But liberals lack the political discipline and loyalty of the GOP voters. Unless liberals get to the polls for every election like the republicans do, and, after the primaries, get over their hurt feelings and vote blue no matter who, they’ll continue to struggle. It’s a frustrating reality.

He would spot them from an impressive distance and make a run for them. But never with a non-toy like a drink can or something else small and colourful.

Went to see Los Angeles Guitar Quartet tonight, and they only had one CD title available at the merch table. I was ready to drop $100 in cash, but no.

And last month, at US Girls, Meg Remy was selling hand-silkscreened tees for $10 each. I left exactly one on the table. Dear struggling touring artist: if your merch table is selling clean, you’re not charging enough.

    • JCF

Could you, maybe, as you’re scooping up $10 tees by the (what? armload? boatload?) donate a few to those in line behind you?

      Signed,
Struggling, $10 on top of whatever this concert cost is HUGE to me, Fans

      • Lumpy Gaga

I didn’t mean to hoard — I just try and spend a certain dollar amount at merch tables. $12 tickets don’t put food on the table.

Shoulda bought some duplicate vinyl, even though I don’t have a turntable.

Turns out that that vinyl you see on merch tables at shows? It’s been bought out of the act’s pocket and paid to the record company. And that goes for marquee indie labels like 4AD, all the way up to majors like Warner Brothers.

I thought that I was unshockable in my 50s. I am not.

OT – Is Charles Manson dead or not dead? Wikipedia lists his death date of November 17. 2017. So far no actual news sites are saying this. Is there a delay while victims families are notified of the oncoming press onslaught?

    • safari

          • JCF

Every fucker will, in due course.*

Homo sapiens. Yes, Manson still is one. Mirrors the darker impulses we all have, well, darker than most. But still a piker compared to the Pol Pots and Idi Amins of the world…

          • Lazycrockett

Its going to be very interesting to see how the media reports on his death. The whole Tate/Manson thing was such a cultural nightmare in the late 60’s. Then Helter Skelter mini series in the late 70’s.

          • William

There is a Quentin Tarantino movie in the works. These murderers do not need a new younger audience.

No, I didn’t try it and fail, LOL. I read it in an article on things we see people killed on TV and movies that are not actually possible. Even if it worked, it would take hella long.

REPORT: Charles Manson close to death in California hospital

A source told TMZ Manson’s health is deteriorating and that ‘It’s just a matter of time’ before his death. The report says the 83-year-old was taken to a Bakersfield hospital for treatment.

He was recently hospitalized in January for an intestinal lesion and returned to prison.

  • SDG

So much for good old fashioned “Christian” values! WTF?

    • David Walker

I probably know as much about what’s in the bible as any of The Truly Religious and/or The Annoyingly Pious, not to mention the “you repent first” crowd. What they say and do frankly makes me nuts at times. “Well, maybe Roy did diddle a couple of young kids, but what’s important is not the rights and lives of some dumb-ass teenage girls but the ability to have another person in the senate in DC who will make sure that the right people are railroaded into the courts.” As the King in “The King and I” is known to say, “It is a puzzlement.” How the hell do you take some pretty obvious statements, suggestions, and commands and pervert the fuck out of them? What is arguable about giving the government its due? Why won’t they bring up one of the most important stories in their book of books about medical care and compassion? Why doesn’t the lesson from the story of the good Samaritan apply? Why would one profess to love and follow the religion and yet ignore anything that’s printed in red in the New Testament? The parts with the words in red are meant to challenge, to teach, to help, not to overlook and pronounce not realistic in our world. Well, whose fault is that?

      • The giving of the Ten Commandments as they actually happened. Funny comedy. There are way way too many qualifiers that came along with it.

“How the hell do you take some pretty obvious statements, suggestions, and commands and pervert the fuck out of them”

You’re askin? I’ll answer: a toxic combination of 1. UTTER ignorance (it’s not like they’ve read the Bible—apart from the isolated bits to which their PASTORS declare the meaning), 2. their own abused-child background (“Don’t Hit Me, Daddy!/Don’t Hit Me Sky-Daddy!” See re George Lakoff), and 3. centuries of isolation [in terms of both nurture (lacking the gifts of diversity) AND nature (lacking the gifts of genetic diversity! Some weak genes in there, coming w/ the, well, TBH, in-breeding)]

  • In all seriousness, the most disturbing thing about Roy Moore this week was this — the person who said that Roy Moore was talking to her in a mall, and then phoned her Principal’s office in High School to have her called out of Trigonometry class to come talk to him on the phone when he was Assistant DA (I believe 32) so he can hit on her. . Now, what is disturbing about this is that no one in the school’s office questioned why she got the call from him — a teenager — clearly looking disturbed — and how this behaviour was accepted as normal by her. I will tell you what this reminds me of — something akin to slavery — or tenant farming — where the lord of the manor thinks they own the “peasants” and can have sex with whomever they want. I can’t see this happening up North with poor immigrant groups — like my grandparents. They would not have put up with someone putting up with hitting on one of their daughters in a postion of authority.

      Droit d’signeur (phonetic).

    • JCF

You may be reading too much into it. 1970s Alabama high school: a secretary gets a call from a man, asking for ____. They page ____ on the intercom. Simple as that. [I trust that no later than the 1990s school shootings—not to mention ubiquitous cellphones!—that all changed.]

  • Blake J Butler
    • Also Larry Sabato feels that the Dems have a chance in Tennessee Senate Race now that Corker will not run again in 2018. However, the Florida Senate Race is a problem because Rick Scott is probably going to run against incumbent Dem Bill Nelson — & Rick Scott and put an incredible amount of money in the Senate race if he wants. I still think Florida will elect Bill Nelson but its a toss-up now. Lots of people like Bill Nelson, he is a former astronaut and a centrist Democrat.

      • johncAtl

Someday all those elderly voters in Florida will realize that the GOP isn’t going to stop until they kill Social Security and Medicare. But by then it will be too late. On the positive side there will be a million fewer GOP voters since they will have killed themselves by voting for Republicans.

        • Florida is a very swing state. The Democratic Party is strong here in statewide races — Obama carried the state twice, Trump carried the state narrowly as did Scott during the last gubernatorial elections. And remember, Nelson is an incumbent Democrat which helps. Also the state is trending younger in population (and more diversified in population) — Pennsylvania, Maine, and Iowa have similar demographics in age. Many people from Puerto Rico are moving here right now. St. Petersburg just elected one of the most gay friendly city councils in the entire nation. Rick Scott’s money though presents a problem.

          • johncAtl

Oh I know. I grew up in Florida. I happily voted for Bob Graham as governor and Lawton Chiles as senator.

          • I think people think Florida is still Anita Bryant country from the 1970’s.

          • johncAtl

Many people here have many misconceptions about the South, although Florida has little in common with the rest of the Southern states.

          • We were in Savannah right after the eclipse in August — we saw it from Charleston. While Charleston is expensive, nice, and really more of a college town upscale shopping area, Savannah struck me as a great artsy very LGBT friendly place to live in Georgia — it was hot as hell in August but super nice.

          • johncAtl

The Lady Chablis would be pleased you enjoyed her city if she was still with us.

          • And some of those people seem to think that all of a sudden all of the old people are going to be dead…
They forget a few important details, there are new old people every day and – in general – people tend to become more conservative as they age. Never count on a 40 year old liberal still being a liberal at 60 or 70. Sad but true

      • Lazycrockett

This is even more why we need the indivisible movement and emily’s list, cause we need people to run. cause when we run, we win. If a 26 yr old out lesbian can win in fucking Oklahoma, we have the ability to turn these counties, districts, states, country around and move it forward for all of us.

      • Upwards of 100k Puerto Ricans are relocating to Florida, where they will immediately be eligible to vote.

        • I think the number may be more like 200k — many people from the island are relocating around the Orlando and Tampa areas. Also Palm Beach County is booming right now — and the people moving here are from the Northeast corridor. We literally do not have elected Republicans here. The population here will be 1.5 million by the end of next year, up 200,000 in six years.

          • Lazycrockett

This is going to be very interesting to watch, when it comes to elections. Be prepared for rat fuckery.

        • Ninja0980

Calling on any mass murderers who want to run for Congress from any Red State.
Red State evangelicals will stand 100% behind your candidacy as long as you are a Republican and can recite at least one Commandment or “Second Amendment”.

  • Bambino

Lol! This is Ivanka how to for Thanksgiving. The thread is funny with other suggestion. At least the taste level in that family is consistent.

    • Boreal

WTF is that supposed to be?

      • Bambino

She must be channeling Gweneth Paltrow off kilter “artistic” expressionism.

        • ByronK

Nothing says Thanksgiving like an expressionist sculpture of Gweneth’s vag.

      • BobSF_94117

I think it’s an appetite suppression display meant to limit holiday calorie intake.

        • Boreal

          It’s working.

    • ByronK
      • TuuxKabin

Their taste is all in their mouth.

        • Bambino

I would not even give away the Thanksgiving invite from that family to a homeless person. If the decor alone is crass, I cannot imagine the food she will be serving.

    • TuuxKabin

RE. FUCKING. SIST. What the hell fell thru the ceiling on to the table?

    • TuuxKabin

That clamshell, thing? Plaster Caster mold of I’dBonkHer’s pussy?

      • Bambino

She found a copy of an 80’s Martha Stewart mag on a dumpster and thought why not?

        • TuuxKabin

A lot of others are thinking: “WHYtheFUCK?” Must have been low tide at one of their beach front properties, and she went picking thru the debris of a shipwreck. Or her servants did.

          • Bambino

Knowing her two dumbasses of a brother who likes to kill anything giant, I would not be surprise it’s another trophy sitting around they gifted her a couple of Christmas ago.

    • Andymac3

When you have left over birthing pods from The body snatchers and just don’t know what to do for Thanksgiving…..

      • JT

        LOL. Good one!

    • Dom Saunders
    • djcoastermark

Dear ivan ka, I am still waiting to see “how to decorate your Thanksgiving table.” You have a picture of an island in the kitchen. And btw, with all that crap on the counter, how in the heck is one supposed to prepare their holiday dinner ?

    • Harveyrabbit
    • Johnny Wyeknot

She’s planning to have dinner on a cold slab of kitchen-island marble?

      • CB

A cold slab, like her heart.

    • jimbo65

To anybody that ever watched Hannibal, the tv series, it looks like one of his elaborate murder tableux stagings.

    • Dazzer

Who knew The Little Shop of Horrors would become an annual holiday in the USA?

      • Dom Saunders

        Only a holiday in Ivanka’s world…

    • JT

A gauche gesture at the Birth of Venus? Istanka is no Botticelli.

      • CB

        Botched, I tell ye.

    • edrex

honey! where do we keep the giant clam shell?

    • canoebum

She’s serves Thanksgiving Dinner in the kitchen? That is a cook top in back, am I right? Those are kitchen cabinets, aren’t they? I guess that must be the spread for the help. Raw pumpkin and pine cones.

I am sure Alabama is full of folks who are thinking the same way.

They have no reason to doubt the accusers, but want to vote for Moore — after all he’ll stomp the nigs and faggots.

The hateful Christian governor is simply articulating this message to assist those voters in justifying their hate votes.

  • Will Parkinson

No longer GOP. Now it’s POP (Party Over Principles).

    • Dazzer

More like PoOP (Party of Obscene Principles).

When I first came out, one of the stigmas our enemies unfairly labeled gay men with was they were pedophiles out to recruit young boys into homosexuality. It was disgusting and utterly untrue, but those right wing assholes used that argument throughout our struggle to tar us as unacceptable and undeserving of rights or to get legally married.
Now you see the Catholic Church tapping down their massive pedophilia problem and now , one of the very worst antigay bigots of our lifetime has been outed as a pedophile and the bigoted republican party and the religious freaks are rallying around the hypocrite Roy Moore as if a 32 year old man making a little 14 year old girl have unwanted sex with him is no big deal and just a little indiscretion. Those same people want Roy Moore in the Senate so he can fight for the public to have the right to discriminate against gay people. Their premise is it is important to defeat and discriminate loving gay couples are society’s problem, not 32 year old men making little girls play with their hard ons.
This is another example of the of how we have lowered the bar by letting Donald Trump into the White House.

  • TheManicMechanic

The GOP has officially become the child raping party. Spread the news far and wide, never let them try to change the narrative away from this.

  • DN

Then you are part of the problem.

  • kareemachan

She chose party over basic humanity. Twunt.

  • rednekokie

Of course — she would rather have a child molester making laws than a Democrat, who has done far more for the people of Al-Abama. It figures, for anyone who has ever visited Al-Abama.

  • agcons

    Silly old bitch.

    • Louis Marschalko

      Ageism alert. Sexism alert.

      • agcons

        You cannot be serious.

  • buckguy

I guess this is an example of why white women gave Trump a majority. Ivey could always write-in Goebbels or some other GOP_suitable alternative.

  • J Ascher

If I could contact this woman, I’d tell her, “You, madam, have disqualified yourself from the human race!”

    • Louis Marschalko

Or maybe this, “You go, girl!”

  • JWC

Of Course She would. That whole nest is a League of crooks

  • RJ Bone

Wow, nice fence-sitting, jackass. Party before people. IN HER OWN WORDS. OMFG, they’re not even bothering to hide it anymore.

  • DaMoldBrok

I was in Alabama last week for work. The people I work with their are wonderful (some have tasted the kool-aid, but nice, overall). I became ill and went to the ER, that was a MISTAKE! Dropped medical devices on the ground and continued to use them, no one ever used any sanitized or soap and water, dropped a glove on the ground and stuffed it back in the box. I was out of there, and drove back home for 11 hours, ILL! I told them that I would rather die in a horrible fiery crash than from some incurable disease they were going to supply.

Just found the number to the Health Dept in Alabama, calling first thing Monday morning. See if I can’t get a hospital shut down!

Already been on the phone with my insurance company, I will dispute every charge they try to submit. If the send me a bill for even a band-aid, I will sue the everloving shit out of that place

P.s. If you ever get ill in Alabama, do not stop in Decatur, Al, just keep on going, your life WILL depend on it!

    • Louis Marschalko

I think North Alabama is the best part of that wonderful state. Independent minded people there.

    • NowAnAgnostic

Edit: Everyone, especially us older ones, should have this information because it works like this in all 50 states and territories. Sorry if you already have this information.

Google search: State of Alabama licensing agency or State of Alabama Hospital complaint

The State of AL web site does not give any information on how to file a complaint. If it is there, I could not find it.

I am retired from the AZ state health care facilities licensing division. Also submit a complaint to the Medicare/Medicaid Certification regional office which covers the State of AL. The state licensing agency (State Survey Agency) licenses and certifies facilities for Medicare. Title 18 (Medicare) and Title 19 (Medicaid) federal funds are paid to the states for conducting Medicare and Medicaid certifications (Inspections). The hospital has to have both a State license to operate and a Medicare/Medicaid certification in order to receive federal funds. Federal certification requirements are usually much stricter than state licensing requirements.

      https://www.medicare.gov/…complaint/…hospital…/complaints-about-providers.html

You may have a complaint about improper care (like claims of abuse to a nursing home resident) or unsafe conditions (like water damage or fire safety concerns). To file a complaint about improper care or unsafe conditions in a hospital, home health agency, hospice, or nursing home, contact your State Survey Agency.

  • Bob Conti

The timing you gobsmacked twit is because Moore, who has the ethics of a Trump family member and the smarts of a slug is about to be elevated to national office. He could do localized damage when just sitting on the state bench, but now he’s trying to get into the big leagues and these women decided that the nation needs to know about what a creep he is. Does that explain the timing for you? I didn’t think any state had a governor the is more stupid than Maine’s LeRage, but apparently we have a contender for the dunce cap

  • Jimmy R

So Mommy opens the door and sees Daddy fucking their little girl, and she quietly shuts the door and goes back to bed, never mentioning it.

This is what happened repeatedly to my dear friend. It strikes me that this evil monster is doing the same thing that Mommy did.
