Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks Stands By Moore: The Right Wing Agenda Is More Important Than Sex Charges

The Birmingham News reports:

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Huntsville, is sticking with Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations, arguing that the conservative agenda is “vastly more important” than the claims against Moore.

“America faces huge challenges that are vastly more important than contested sexual allegations from four decades ago,” Brooks said in a text message to AL.com.

“Who will vote in America’s best interests on Supreme Court justices, deficit and debt, economic growth, border security, national defense, and the like? Socialist Democrat Doug Jones will vote wrong. Roy Moore will vote right. Hence, I will vote for Roy Moore.”

Brooks finished third in the GOP Senate primary to replace Jeff Sessions.

Regarding the letter from ‘faith leaders” supporting Moore: “…But at least four pastors have since come forward to say they did not consent to having their names included in the letter. What’s more, at least one is raising questions about whether it is an edited version of a different endorsement list used during the primaries…”

I should have know something was up in that family with their evil masquerading as a non-profit. I think the IRS should audit them. If Alabama wasn’t so corrupt as a state white aristocracy; it would audit them, yet then it would be xth generation cousins auditing xth generation cousins or something similar. Even if one side was considered proper and the other side was considered white trash.

        • Tread

Report it to the IRS. They love getting money back from fake non-profits.

Well, “Mo,” if that is indeed your real name, consider this. Of the millions of women of voting age in the US, a majority of them have been made uncomfortable or worse, due to the unwanted attention of old men. And this unjustified defense of an abuser makes all of us remember our own encounters.

Your ‘right wing agenda’ is about to swirl down the bowl like the rest of the sewage. Since you can’t take away the women’s right to vote, you best change tactics or descend into marginalization.

  • John

So, “family values” now include pedophilia, got it…Dear Republicans, FUCK YOU ALL!!

    • Paula

      Hey, it’s Alabama.

Incest is best for Alabama. Their politicians display that clearly and child molestation is a pre-requisite with the Shitgibbon grabbing pussy in office.

      • Paul Ohbehr L

As some people refer to it, sister-cousin-love. Sorry. I get the genealogy mixed up.

  • Lazycrockett

At least Brooks has the balls to say it.

The honesty is strangely refreshing. Most Republicans would never admit it.

I almost admire someone who will look straight into a camera and say “I don’t care if he molested children because he’s going to help us take away the healthcare of millions, force women into body slavery, crash the economy to make our rich donors richer and treat various minority groups like complete trash.” I mean, damn. Bond villains wouldn’t spell out how horrible they are that clearly.

    • David L. Caster

Headed by the Groping Old Pervert in chief. The GOP is most certainly not a force for good in America and is now an enemy not only of freedom, it has gone on to become a danger to all decency and the founding principles upon which the republic is based.

I can’t help but remember when our community was dealing with the height of the AIDS crisis, not all that many years ago, and these evangelicals stood around saying things like we were being punished, who cares, they’re just a bunch of pedophiles, Gawd’s wrath, etc. while we watched our friends die. Now look at them. Finally, at long last, they are showing their true colors, standing behind an accused pedophile and sexual harasser, just to win a senate seat. They never cared about children, just about looking like they do. This is about selling out your religion for the things that really matter to you: Money, power, influence and control. We’ve got a much better estimate of the value of their “deeply-held religious beliefs” today.

So by that logic, if a Senator is an active child molester but will vote with Trump 100% of the time, then you’ll help him procure children because that’s a small cost to pay compared to having a solidly Christian conservative Senator that will vote the party line. Good to know where you stand, Mo.

Slaked lime is a better chemical to use; lye combines very easily with the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, producing sodium carbonate. Slaked lime combines much more slowly and has longer to dissolve the body, even if it is somewhat slower in doing so.

        • Boreal

Good to know. I have (ahem) friends who would be interested in that info,

          • Treant

It’s a problem I have when making soap; the lye can chemically combine with the air, so the top of the form or loaf has to be protected from the atmosphere. We cover with cardboard or plastic for 24 hours, by which saponification is complete, or spray the top with rubbing alcohol, which forms a temporary chemical seal.

Otherwise, the sodium carbonate leaves a white layer that’s unattractive on colored soap.

          • Boreal

For a moment I was so engrossed I didn’t realize you were talking about soap.

            http://dravenstales.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/MovieSimpsons_Hannibal1.jpg

          • Treant

Technically if you’re dumping slaked lime or sodium hydroxide on a body, you are making soap. It’ll transform the triglycerides (and mono- and di-glycerides) into the sodium or calcium salt of a fatty acid.

Slaked lime isn’t very water soluble, so rain doesn’t wash it away (although carried-in dissolved carbon dioxide will react with it to make calcium carbonate). However, calcium soap is also not very water soluble, and tends to be rather rock-like. Salt metathesis of sodium soaps in sewers is a huge problem, as the calcium soap forms columns and blockages.

We’ve all splashed lye on our hands. It immediately feels soapy as it attacks the fats in the stratum corneum. And deeper layers if you don’t wash it off immediately.

So yep, it’ll happily turn you to an impure soap.

          • greenmanTN

I’m familiar with saponification, but in a different context…

            http://cabinet-of-wonders.blogspot.com/2009/06/bit-of-soap.html

          • Treant

The same! Except instead of anaerobic bacteria making waxy soap, we do this in an aerobic environment using a fast caustic and fairly pure triglycerides.

Jeremy Bentham would make a very hard, not very soluble, low-suds soap that’s not terribly effective nor what you’d find to be a nice wash.

        • Stogiebear

That’s what we used at home in the outhouse.

          • Treant

It does have the ability to cancel a scent…not many bacteria can survive calcium hydroxide.

The phrase is used by hateful Christians, or politicians who want the hateful Christian vote.

    • Treant

      “I’m not like them.”

They’re enough like them not to leave the party, of course, or to refuse to accept a child fucker in their midst. But they’re totally not like them. Or something like that. Or God can use any vessel He wants, no matter how tainted. Or whatever other excuse is convenient.

  • Mo Brooks is a Mormon who opposes abortion, planned parenthood and stem cell research on moral grounds. He voted to designate the first weekend of May as “Ten Commandments Weekend.” He supported amendments to ban same-sex marriage. He voted to block Obama’s legislation, and allow workplace discrimination against LGBT’s as a “religious liberty”. So now he proves himself to be just another religious hypocrite who cares more for partisan politics than for the principles he claims to be his.

  • Stubenville

So in the Republican value system, emails are vastly more important than child molestation? Got it.

  • TexasBoy

Pfffft…pedophilia isn’t an important issue to Christian Dominionists, as long as it is opposite gender. What is important is creating their version of a theocracy, usurping the US Constitution for their personal religion.

I’m surprised we are not hearing more of “at least it wasn’t a boy”. Moore is not cool with sex between consenting adults of the same sex, but is cool with statutory rape.

    • Gianni

That is surprising, but I’m sure it’s already passed through the loyalists minds. “At least Roy was doing the straight thing with girls not acting queer with boys!” That definitely makes it way more palatable to those asswipes.

  • Al Prazolam

Brooks is such a hypocrite when he talks about the deficit and the national debt. The GOP tax “reform” bill will increase the debt by AT LEAST $1.5 trillion. And that’s only if we don’t have a national emergency that requires even more deficit spending, including a recession.

I won’t put any faith in the sensibilities of Alabama voters simply because Moore has been removed from his elected justice positions, I believe it is two times, and the voters just loyally approved of his illegal shenanigans and put him right back in a judge’s seat. You know, God, the Bible, Christian principles – those all supersede the law and Constitution and superior court decisions.

  • Nowhereman

Uh, no. Not at all. If anything, sexual assaults are even MORE important today because THEY ARE STILL HAPPENING.
