Another Roy Moore Accuser To Come Forward Today

Huntsville’s ABC affiliate reports:

New York attorney Gloria Allred says she will be holding a news conference today with an Alabama woman who alleges Roy Moore sexually assaulted her as a minor in Alabama. The announcement comes days after a Washington Post article alleged Moore had sexual contact with multiple women when they were in their teens. The youngest was just 14. The news conference will be held November 13, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. EST at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on 50th and Madison.

I’ll post a live-stream if one is available.

  • Sam_Handwich

A Fox affiliate in AL says the news conference will be at 1:30 this afternoon.

    • Tatonka

Smart. Most of his constituents will be home watching “The Price is Right.”

    • JoeMyGod

      Alabama is on Central time.

      • danolgb

        Central 19th Century Time

  • Bambino

For which the Moore supporters drop their knickers and let Moore fondle their genitals in a press conference to show their unwavering support for his senate run.

  • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

With Allred as the attorney, we can pretty much assume the new allegations will be fully dismissed by the right and perhaps polling for Moore to go up.

    • gaycuckhubby

Exactly. I wonder if Gloria is aware that her reputation actually hurts her clients more than it helps.

      • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

Imagine if Elizabeth Smart showed up with her. Or heck, even Judge Judy.

    • Steverino

Which reminds me, what happened to all the women last year who came forward about Trump’s abuse, when Allred held press conferences for several of them announcing legal proceedings against Trump?

      • gaycuckhubby

Unfortunately she’s really not effective at doing anything other than promoting herself (these days)
She should advise her clients to tell their story to a newspaper who would vet the story and have more credibility then will ever have

        • Chucktech

But…….then nobody would pay her any mind….

          • Tawreos

            Great, Win/Win

        • Steverino

It’s really too bad, because she was the attorney who successfully argued the case which brought marriage equality to California in the state Supreme Court almost ten years ago.

  • Tawreos

I hate the fact that behind every accusation is an assaulted child because it is the only thing that keeps me from wanting to see more and more of these until the fucker drowns under the accusations.

    • AmeriCanadian

Totally understand but the only thing that will get these cockroaches scurrying is a bright and strong light and we need it to shine everywhere and on everything!

    • Chucktech

I see the silver lining as being a kind of social catharsis. Women have been putting up with this shit for far too long and now it’s coming crashing down.

      Good.

    • Ninja0980

      Yup.
One thing is these assholes get caught fooling around with adults.
But I get no joy when they are found to be child molesters.
Yes, they are shown to be hypocrites..but it’s at the expense of a child’s innocence and that is NEVER worth it.

    • Snarkaholic

I wonder how many abortions he’s forced them to have?

      • Tawreos

If they could prove that, that might kill his chances.

        • zhera

          “Youthful indiscretions.”

      • Lizard

No victim is (yet) claiming penetrative rape. Kissing and heavy petting, mostly. Still a crime, but no abortion would be necessary.

  • Beth Sanders

This makes me sad because I thought he was Christian. Hes such a good man.

    In Christ,
    Beth

    • Megrim Twist

      You better werk, Beth.

    • Boreal

Good at diddling kiddies or good at breaking the law?

    • AmeriCanadian

Beth dear, I believe you’ve made a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

      • worstcultever

        You mean Albakoiky?

      • Ben in Oakland

I’m pretty sure it was a hard right turn at Al Abama.

        • Boreal

          Talibama

      • Beth Sanders

Hello. I donot live in new mexico, but i hear it is lovely.

        In Christn,
        Beth

        • gaycuckhubby

          A+ trolling Ma’am! 🙂

        • AmeriCanadian

Well of course not, “Beth”. Your type of cray cray can only come from Texas.

    • Tatonka

Sad to say that public piety doesn’t necessarily translate to private morality. Hope that people make you feel welcome here Beth.

    • Lizard

      Oh Christ, you again.

He is not a “good man.” He has spent his life trying to rip away the civil rights of a large percentage of the population.

If a politician used his or her political clout to try and make your marriage illegitimate, would you call him “a good man”?

Also, he is a Christian. He’s also a shitty person, and the patriarchal attitudes espoused by Christianity allowed him to be the predator he is. Own him.

      • Beth Sanders

Hi Lizard. It is nice to see you tahkn you for your comment.

        In Christ,
        Beth

    • djcoastermark

First thing I noticed with you is your initials.

      • Boreal

‘She’ is also a reader of ‘Chicks on the right’ and ‘The Daily Caller’, both right wing shit sites. Also the account was created this year and has 21 total comments.

        • Lizard

Pretty sure all 21 comments were on another JMG thread, where Picky and Ragnar has a little fun with her (IIRC) and she did her best to convince me that she’s a bot.

          • AmeriCanadian

If you engage the bots, they almost always fail the Turing test. It’s kind of fun (in a way).

          • Boreal

You can read her comments. Some are from other sites.

          • Lizard

Then this is a new account. I distinctly remember engaging Beth a few months ago, stupid “In Christ” signature and all.

          • Boreal

Oh she has commented on this site as well but with only 21 comments it was pretty easy to see what she posted.

          • Lizard

I just went through them all. Definitely a new account.

          • Boreal

I’m guessing BS has multiple accounts.

        • Rebecca Gardner

And she doesn’t know how to spell malarkey. She spells it “molarchy.”

Has probably helped with other RWNJ signs such as; Morans, Speak Engish, Give me Libety and stop Tranny, and other amazing signs of Tea Party ignorance.

          • Boreal

‘She’ also upvoted her own comment. Methinks it is a bot.

          • gaycuckhubby

I sometimes upvote my own comments too. but it’s hard not to when you’re spitting pure gold

          • Steverino

“Molarchy.” Is that a government of moles?

          • Rebecca Gardner

            Moles or Mexican sauces.

          • Lizard

            Or molars.

          • Steverino

            Certainly something to chew on.

          • Ragnar Lothbrok

She also upvotes her own comments lol

        • Ragnar Lothbrok

She also sins in the most vile of ways.
          Unspeakable!

          • Boreal

She is a whore of babble on.

    • Paula

Obviously, you were mistaken, Beth. That little thing in his pants is stronger than jeebus.

      • Rebecca Gardner

Jebus gave men two heads, but only enough blood to run one at a time.

        • Reality.Bites

Sometimes not even one at a time!

          • AmeriCanadian

Yes but there’s a pill for that now.

          • Rebecca Gardner

There’s a million pills for that. Sadly god forbid a woman use a pill to prevent getting pregnant after a man takes one of those pills. It makes the baby jebus cry!!!

    • The_Wretched

Putting ultra-conservative religion ahead of the laws of the US is NOT a Christian way of living.

    • Ben in Oakland

He,s a bad man hiding behind Christ.

    • Rebecca Gardner

He’s a very bad man that uses religion as a crutch to justify his hatred and bigotry and to cover up his own sins. Sins he likes to project on “the other.”

      • Reality.Bites

Beth Sanders is either a legitimate right-wing moron or a Poe. I’m not sure which.

        • Steverino

          Or Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ mother-in-law.

          • Reality.Bites

Which brings us right back to legitimate right-wing moron or a Poe.

    • hdtex
    • Nic Peterson

Sadly, like so many Christians, he is not at all Christ-like. I hope your sadness resolves itself and you can demonstrate the true spirit of the faith. Bless you.

      • Boreal

        It’s a bot.

        • Nic Peterson

Yeah, I know. Seeking to sow some confusion.

    • JustDucky

Good men don’t sexually assault children.

      • Chucktech

        And many good christians do.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

      You’re back !!
What the hell have you been up to Beth?

      • Beth Sanders

        Tending to Gerald.

        • Ragnar Lothbrok

Did he molest someone ? You have an obligation to tell, Beth.

    • Bluto

I bet you will still vote for him, Beth.

      • Beth Sanders

Hi Bluto, i do not live there in Alabama, but my good friend Margy lives there and she cannot decide. Please pray for Margy that she makes the right choice.

        In Christ,
        Beth

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

Well thanks for the upvote Beth.

      With Satan’s love,
      Ragnar.

It’s not Things that don’t offend GOP. It’s Things that the GOP embrace.

    • Todd20036

You left out, “Killing black people by police”

      • David L. Caster

That can be generalized to extrajudicial executions.

  • Rebecca Gardner
    • Lizard

Yup. Moore got to be where he is because of the perception that he’s standing up for persecuted Christians against “the Man.” They’ll view these stories as attempts by the evil godless Commie “Man” to discredit a fightin’ Christian once again.

      • Bad Tom

But his fellow DAs saying “Yeah, we knew about that” has gotta bring up some doubts for some folks.

        • Chucktech

          not Alabama christians…

          • Bad Tom

No, not them. But there are some.

I lived in Huntsville, AL for seven years when I was a kid, during the George Wallace era.

Even then, there were a lot of people who would have been repelled by a child molester.

      • CB

Except, if they really knew their xtianity instead of mouthing other people’s manipulative talking points, they’d know that Moore is exactly the kind of lowlife their jeebus hated.

    • The_Wretched

30 years of attacks on science and relevant authority haven’t been for naught (for the right).

      • AmeriCanadian

Not to mention the many years of journalistic standards in news devolving into infotainment and non-stop opinion pieces.

        • Chucktech

I’ve had to suffer through this devolution, hasn’t affected my ability to discern the truth.

          • The_Wretched

Single people are not population averages.

          • AmeriCanadian

Nor are people who can think for themselves critically.

          • Chucktech

Of course not. I’m just saying I’m reasonably informed and I’m certainly no genius.

          • Ragnar Lothbrok

Yeah, but your mom isn’t also your Aunt.
Makes a bigger difference than what you would think.

      • olandp

In Alabama it has been 175 years, not 30.

  • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

Considering that much of the GOP doesn’t wan’t Moore either, does anyone wonder if maybe leaks and assistance in locating other victims is coming from within the GOP?

    • Bad Tom

They don’t need to do that. If they were smart, (assumes facts not in evidence,) they would be completely hands-off.

  • justmeeeee

    Gloria Allred!!! Really??? Quelle surprise!!!!

  • safari
    • Lizard

Not surprising. McConnell has been trying to stop Moore from the beginning. Even before the allegations, his brand of batshittery is bad PR.

      • boatboy_srq

It would be doubly delicious if Moore’s tribulations took down McConnell as well.

        • Lizard

I doubt it. It’s easier to bump somebody off before an election than it is once they’ve been in office as long as McConnell has been.

I sympathize with your optimism, though.

      • Chucktech

Even at the expense of a Senate Republican majority? That’s a departure from his otherwise party-before-country bearing.

        • Lizard

Pence is a reliable conservative tiebreaker vote. I doubt they’re worried about it.

          • Chucktech

They are when they have an intermittent turncoat like McCain or Corker or Flake.

  • Ben in Oakland

Christians and sex. Sex and Christians. They obsess and obsess and obsess and obsess over it, and then are surprised when their obsession comes home to roost.

    • gaycuckhubby

Sorry but this is not a Christian issue. Look around you this is happening in every institution in every aspect of life

      • Lizard

This does happen elsewhere, but Moore hardcore religion is entwined with every aspect of his life. It’s difficult to make this not about religion when he claims everyone without his brand of Christianity are criminals or otherwise horrible people.

      • Ben in Oakland

Moralizing busybodies intent on managing other people’s lives while having lots of skeletons in their own closets are the issue.

        • JAKvirginia

Yes!! That’s it exactly. They are horrified when a non-Christian allegedly does these things but give a pass to their “Christian” buds.

          • Ben in Oakland

            Because Jesus only forgives Christians.

      • The_Wretched

This is a Christian issue. A major factor in abuse is hierarchical dominance and freedom from accountability. US Christianity teaches obedience and that you must not question your leaders. Roy Moore is one of many examples of Christian Leaders who are generally abusive and have been for a long while.

Evermoreso, part of the Jesus > Church > Leadermen > men > women hierarchical thinking subordinates women as a group. The subordinate class has less power to deal with issues and is expected to maintain the hierarchy. that means not speaking up and not prosecuting abuse.

Until and unless christianity in the US drops those two dogmas, it’s responsible for reinforcing the systems that lead to abuse.

(and for the sake of brevity, i’ve left off the problem of their 1 size fits all sexuality and how that intersects the first 2 topics)

        • AmeriCanadian

I would add that children are at the bottom of the Christian hierarchy and that may help explain why, in general, the attitude toward pedophilia is as lax as it appears to be.

        • Adam Schmidt

I’d adjust your hierarchy a bit:

          Jesus > Church > Leadermen > men > fetuses > women > children

          • The_Wretched

            i agree

      • kat

This IS a Christian issue. Tar those Jeebus people with it, it’s part of the DNA of their religion.

        • gaycuckhubby

Not more than the DNA of Muslims or Hindus or Jewish people

Or people in Hollywood or the gymnast community, or any other institution ever developed in the world.

  • RLK2

To Moore supports and Republicans, this is normal behavior

  • Michael R

Is it just me or when you see the name Gloria Allred you think ” doomed to fail ”

( oops , someone already said it better )

    • gaycuckhubby

Ha! Completely agree, as soon as her name is included It cast a shadow of a doubt

  • Rebecca Gardner

Oh No! There go another dozen destroyed coffee makers.

  • gaycuckhubby

TBH I wish the accuser would tell her story to a reputable newspaper not through Gloria Allred

    • boatboy_srq

      MAGAts don’t read reputable papers.

    • Reality.Bites

Reputable newspapers have very high standards of evidence. And that can take time.

  • safari
  • Bad Tom

    Roy Moore himself predicted this.
    He would know.

    • Joe in PA

When he said that on Friday I thought the same thing. 🙁 Beyond sad.

    • AmeriCanadian

He does know. And that’s precisely why he is sowing the seeds of doubt. He knows the dam’s about to break!

    • The_Wretched

He’s more or less admitted that he spent a decade asking mothers permission to ‘date’ their teen daughters. That’s a lot of time and survivors.

I wonder about the break point however. did he really stop? Or did he just change tactics / join a group / hired a fixer or what?

      • JAKvirginia

Did he really ask? Where are the mothers?

        • The_Wretched

We only have his say so. I’m inclined to believe him since it’s a bit of an olde-schoole thing.

          • JAKvirginia

            Um…. what?

          • The_Wretched

I don’t doubt that Moore asked for permission. It’s in the character of the persona he presents and has cultural tradition. It’s also a legal defense (or nearly so).

  • Bambino
  • VodkaAndPolitics

I hate that these young women were sexually assaulted, but I’m loving every minute of Roy Moore going down as a Pedophile.

    • Lizard

I just wish he was actually going down over them (so to speak…).

    • Johnny Wyeknot

Is it really pedophilia? Or just inappropriate? I haven’t checked the age of consent in Alabama, but I suspect it’s pretty young.

      • The_Wretched

16 now and then. and… those words probably have slightly different meanings than how you’re using them

      • Lizard

        16. Youngest victim was 14. When Moore lured her to a secluded location with the intent of molesting her, he committed a felony punishable with up to 10 years.

Make no mistake, he committed a crime.

        • Ron Robertson

And had he been caught he would be in the sex offender database.

        • marshlc

It’s a crime, but it’s probably something like statutory rape, rather than pedophilia, which has a narrower definition – it’s sex with pre pubescent children, which a fourteen year old is not.

That’s just pedantry, though – I don’t mind at all that everyone is calling this pedophilia.

        • Johnny Wyeknot

Thanks. Pretty sleazy. But his criminalization of gays policy? Crickets.

      • Reality.Bites

Pedophilia and age of consent aren’t directly related. Pedophilia isn’t a legal term, it relates to physical development (pre-pubescent). Age of consent for gay sex in Canada used to be 21, years after adulthood in every other way.

I believe one accuser was below the age of consent (16) and the others were not or no sex took place.

Although it’s very skeevy of course, there’s nothing illegal about an adult “dating” a minor with their parents’ consent and no sex going on.

      • When moore had sex with the 14 year old, that was pedophilia. If he had of had sex with the 16 year old, that could also be considered pedophilia, depending upon how the law in Alabama is written.

  • Johnny Wyeknot

    The Palace Hotel glitters.

  • Ninja0980

Put it bluntly, when it comes to the LGBT community and imposing a religious test on people, many other Republicans believe in what Roy Moore does just like many agreed with what Todd Akin said.
All you have to do is look at the judges they are voting onto our courts to see that.
Moore was a monster before all of this came out and the GOP doesn’t get to run away from him now.

    • Ron Robertson

A good thing to remember is that despite the support of idiots, Akin lost.

Of course back then there was no way to take selfies like today, but I would love to see a few seemingly innocent Polaroids crop up of the happy couple… Moore & 16 yo “date” dressed up on the way to the movies or malt shop. After all, he said he would only date high school age with their mother’s consent. Maybe there was a picture taken. Even though it might be legal, it would show the world how creepy it looks. And what mother would give consent for her 16 year old daughter to date a 32 year old man just out of the military!?

    • Chucktech

But it’s not creepy in Alabama. That’s who’s electing him.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

Kodak would have destroyed them as soon as they were developed.

      • The_Wretched

Polaroids were self developing. that was their point.

        • Ragnar Lothbrok

Alabama wouldn’t be that high tech

          • Chucktech

But those Kodak Brownies were everywhere.

Ughhhh with Allred getting involved the whole thing will now definitely be dismissed as just a left wing political stunt. With Allred involved I’m not sure I believe any of it any more…

    • gaycuckhubby

I believe the WaPo accusers. But Allred does throw a wrench in everything

  • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

The only thing that will matter to Alabama Republicans is if the accuser is male. All else to them is understandable and forgivable.

    • The_Wretched

or if Moore forced abortions on them.

      • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

I still think they’d understand and forgive that. Anything done in the heterosexual realm is relatable to them.

        • Chucktech

Yup. The only thing they and jesus will never forgive is homo stuff.

          • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

Proof that “far left liberals” didn’t concoct this story. If we had, we’d have made the accusers male.

    • bobbyjoe

      Here’s the thing:

      1) Roy Moore’s son is a highly troubled young man who’s been arrested nine times at this point.
      2) Studies have suggested that many molesters will target girls or boys more according to opportunity rather than simply gender.
      3) Roy Moore is pretty much the textbook example of loudly pretending to be religious and moral to cover up all sorts of his own immoralities and crimes.

In other words, connect the dots– there’s a good chance there’s already been a male victim of Moore’s sexual exploitation of minors in the past. And while that person is not able to come forward and make the accusation, that person’s actions (i.e., the constant troubles and arrests) might be making the accusation for him.

      • gaycuckhubby

That crosses like 7 different lines.

don’t speculate that his son was molested by him.
him assaulting a 14 year old girl should be the focus of our attention. Not chasing down rabbit holes

        • JAKvirginia

          Thank you.

        • Reality.Bites

Also, the thing about not differentiating between the sexes applies to child molestors. People who go after pre-pubescent kids. People who go after teenagers aren’t at all likely to be open to either.

      • Helen Damnation™

Yup. His extreme homophobia speaks volumes.

  • Paula

Oh, Roy, its soooo sad. People are making up horrible things about you and putting where everyone can see? Kinda’ like the shit you have been doing to us for years. eh?

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

Its too rich! Not sure I can handle another bite of this delicious Shadenfreude Pie.

      • To make a perfect Moore Schadenfreude Pie, Doug Jones needs to win the seat, by a huge margin. Of course I do not see that happening, but one can dream…..

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

..but wait..ear sex is ok? Even with a minor?

  • Lakeview Bob

This is just liberal terrorism according to the ignorant people of Alabama.

  • carrot festival
    • Helen Damnation™

Somehow I can see her doing this to her grand-babies.

  • alc2018
  • If this new revelation today does not seem credible, Moore’s approval among Evangelicals will climb 15 points. But if the new revelation do seem credible, his Evangelical approval rating will climb at least 20 points.

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

Crash and burn, Roy! Crash and burn!!

  • gaycuckhubby

newspapers like Washington Post are very transparent about their vetting process when Victims come forward.
What is Gloria Allred’s vetting process like?
I hope she does due diligence with independent verification and investigation because if even one of these victims story is slightly exaggerated it will destroy the accusations of all the women

  • Reality.Bites

Everyone here who wanted Luther Strange to win – aren’t you ashamed now?

    • The_Wretched

      they shouldn’t feel ashamed

So long as you make your decisions in a decent way going forward, you shouldn’t feel bad later based on 20/20 hind sight. Noone can live up to that standard and it doesn’t help the next time you’re faced with a decision and choosing from among the several options.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

As I said on the other thread, anyone but Allred. She’s not trustworthy. That doesn’t mean I disbelieve the woman coming forward, but given Allred’s dubious record, I find it concerning.

    • gaycuckhubby

      Agreed

    • Natty Enquirer

Allwet is a bit late to the party this time.

  • Charlie In SF

Love her or hate her, but never underestimate Gloria Allred. Most recently, she brought down Meg Whitman.

    • pleasebereasonable1

She definitely has a knack for dragging these people out of the wood work….

    • Lizard

For a minute there I thought you wrote “Mae Whitman” and my stomach sank, wondering if I was about to hear about a scandal that would forever ruin Avatar: The Last Airbender for me. Whew.

  • Gene Perry

Gloria Allred: Ambulance Chaser. Sorry, but she is. If there’s a news story, with a possible lawsuit (including lawyers fees), and especially if it’s a “sexy” lawsuit, then Gloria will be there.

    • SDG

She certainly gets the job done. If she were a man, people would be treating her differently.

  • JWC

Ah Roy thus begins the shit storm

  • SDG

Ha! I knew there had to be some shit on him.

  • Tammy Rainey

Strategically, bringing Gloria Alred with you is basically a campaign ad FOR Moore in Alabama. They couldn’t have done worse if Hillary Clinton had been her lawyer.

    • Helen Damnation™

I tend to agree. Alred will make it seem like a national attack on Moore; should have hired the top attorney in Alabama. Keep it local.

      • andrew

“Keep it local” Totally. There must be some first class Alabama lawyers who would have loved to get this assignment.

  • CB

It’s a sign of the times that stealing from his charity didn’t sink his candidacy. Being thrown of the court twice didn’t sink his candidacy. His rampant racism and homophobia had no impact. Now that he’s a sexual creep, we’re all upset. I grieve for our country.

  • netxtown

    bye-bye, judas.

    so-long, judas.

    fuck you, dumbass

  • JCF

I want to eat popcorn…but it’s just too upsetting. 🙁

  • Snarky

I hope Allred can resist the urge to jump in front of all the TV cameras, and just let the woman tell her story.

Like Allred has EVER resisted the urge to jump in front of all the TV cameras.

But Allred’s not the story today, the victim is. Hopefully, her story is compelling and credible and seen by everyone in Alabama. I wish her courage and strength as the right wing media go after her.

  • AdamTh

Alabama will STILL elect Roy Moore.

    • ted-

Are you saying Alabamans are stupid as a rock?

  • Gregory B

Can somebody explain to me how Roy Moore is eligible to run for the Senate, notwithstanding being removed from the bench twice?
