White House: Roy Moore Should “Step Aside” From Campaign If Underage Sex Allegations Are Proven True

ABC News reports:

The White House reacted Friday to a series of sexual misconduct allegations leveled against Republican Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore, saying that President Donald Trump believes if they are proven true then Moore should “step aside.”

“Like most Americans, the president believes we cannot allow a mere allegation, in this case one from many years ago, to destroy a person’s life,” press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters on Air Force One en route to Da Nang, Vietnam.

“However, the president also believes that if these allegations are true, Judge Moore will do the right thing and step aside.”

      • gaycuckhubby

Cause politics is kinda a thankless job. A 35 year old brilliant mind can make a lot more money in the private sector. They don’t have to be hated by half the country and they have better job security. Why would anyone in their prime run for office is the question?

        • leastyebejudged

It’s so thankless that Congress is populated by rich people.

      • Willys41

Why? Partly because if you want to run for high office you need the support of a lot of people (including a lot of people willing to invest a lot of money) and people tend to regard the young as inexperienced and possibly lacking in depth and breadth of knowledge, which, to some extent, makes them less appealing as candidates.

Of course, if you’re talking about republicans then experience and competence and ethics and morals are of no significance.

        • leastyebejudged

These old fossils hold our futures hostage with their sleazy backroom deals and their own profiteering.

They know the WaPo story is true. It’s sourced to he’ll and back.

The WH is just hoping the propaganda and distrust they’ve sown against WaPo for their own reasons is enough to get their supporters to not trust that Moore is a pedophile and rapist.

  • gaycuckhubby

          • Joe in PA

yup, cold here too…35 right now…upper teens tonight. None of this ‘nudging next to freezing’ stuff for us. 🙂 I’m ready…tender plants are in, hoses are in etc etc. Side question: what does TuuxKabin mean? Just curious.

          • TuuxKabin

Since you asked, for a friend, obviously:

I used to have an avatar of a lil’ black, scruffy pooch. Sage.

Rescued her during a rainstorm when we lived in Mérida, Yucatan. Majority Maya indigenous population.

She turned out to be an escape artist. I’d come home, open the door and she’d slip out. I had a pre-set text to friends and neighbors, ‘se fue,’ – she went.

One time a friend called me the day after she split, 12 km away. Way the hell the other side of the city. At a Japanese restaurant. “She’s here. She looks hungry. Can I buy her something to eat?”

I had no idea who she was talking about. She’d been sitting there with her daughter, out of doors, eating dinner and Sage went trotting by. She called her, and Sage went right to her. I drove out to pick them up. Sage sitting there all, like, “wha’ took you so long.”

Her escapades were well know and often laughed at when relating the most recent.

Our house guy, Julio, native, profile of a Maya carving on a ruin in the bush would be with us twice a week. Teaching me a bit of Maya and more Spanish, and I’d give him some English bits to use among the other ‘gringados’ – another translation some time – he worked with and for.

He was coming in the door one day and Sage made a bee line to get out. He grabbed her just in time by her haunches and asked: “ay, Sage. Tuuxkabin?” and pulled her back in.

I asked him what he said to her? In Spanish he told me, “I asked her, ‘where are you going?’ She kept the name Sage, and Loca to some, but among Julio and other ‘native speakers’ she became Tuuxkabin – toosh kab been. The ‘x’ is a soft ‘sh’ in Maya.

She stayed behind when we came back, her vet and his wife, both vets, took her in to be companion pooch to their toddler child. So she’s a working pooch and having a good time. We always want things better for our children, as I’m sure you know.

You’re in Appalachia part of Pa, ‘ultra’ rural?

Temp is dropping like a stone. Down to 26 tonight, and spotty ‘steam heat’ comin’ up. The pipes in the system got caught off guard.

          • Joe in PA

Wow, what a great story. I will pronounce that word MUCH differently now!

We are in SE PA, between Allentown and Reading. It is rural but not crazy rural. The county (Berks) is the most agricultural in the state but there are lots of area further west that are woods and mountainous. We live on a big hill, and have woods, but we also have fields (50 acres total). We like it for the most part, but lately we’ve been getting that 15 year itch. 🙂 We don’t have that many more moves left in us.

How long have you been in the city? Is Tuuxkabin still alive? How did you land in Mexico? How did you land in NYC?

Wow, I’m sadly geographically challenged unless I’ve been somewhere…I had to look up Merida. Google maps has some beautiful pics. Amazing.

            Thanks for the nifty note.

Oh, if you want to comm privately:

            joelynch@dejazzd.com

          • TuuxKabin

Unless an interest, a lot of us are geographically challenged. I took an interest because I wanted to get out of small town SF Bay Area . . . until the Summer Of Love landed. But never lost my interest to be other places. Settled now. 40 years in the same two block area. I feel like I was meant to be here. Being the other half of 2guysnamedjoe, has a lot to do with it. When we met, 37 years ago, the ‘cute Irish boy from the Bronx’ i.e., Bobby Darin, myth came true.

Okie dokie. Voolf will be emailing you. Googled Berks County, Pa. The theme song to Oklahoma, which, IMHO is a gorgeous piece, comes to mind.

Going down for post lunch nap. Will write, zoon. Thanks!

At least Ed Murray paid the younger men for their underage services and acknowledged his less than perfect previous life. This does not exonerate sex with under age guys however.

Murray brought in a lot of anti-discrimination provisions in WA, and one of the leaders in Nov. 2012 for the successful SSM ballot provision.

            His day in court has not taken place yet;

With Moore, who did so much racist and homophobic damage in AL, it is doubtful that any AL prosecutor is even willing to lay charges against him as others have pointed out here. Even if there is solid evidence, Moore will probably walk free and even get to be a US Senator, (of the very worst sort.) Meanwhile, Moore tells us the charges were an intrigue of WaPo and liberal Obama Clinton entrapment fabricators. Yeah sure ….

Few among us have lived a perfect existences, some no doubt, but most of us likely made some mistakes … One Good thing about JMG … Joe doesn’t sweep any of our own dirty laundry under the rug … And a defence of “Jesus has forgiven me” is not accepted as an adequate excuse.

It was MONTHS of allegations before any Dem in Seattle asked Murray to resign

          • Do Something Nice

You realize that there is a big difference between telling someone not to run because of allegations and kicking someone out of office because of allegations, right?

I don’t know what the Democrats response was or when they responded, but it in no way is comparable to this, someone running for the US Senate.

          • gaycuckhubby

I think it’s parallel. Plus he was up for reelection and it took quite a while until Democrats started calling for him not to run.

          • Do Something Nice

Well, we disagree. I see no benefit with your comparison and it really isn’t relevant. Maybe if you had a barchart showing the time interval between the first time a political sex scandal hits the press and the perpetrator’s political party appropriate response over time to show a pattern of responding quickly or not, that may be relevant.

          • gaycuckhubby

Ok. But at best their tied. All these GOP senators came out the same day as the allegations.
I’m not trying to throw Democrats under the bus I’m just saying I think the National GOP response was fairly good on this one.

          • Do Something Nice

OK, then say the GOP response was good on this one without throwing the Democrats under the bus.

There is no statute of limitations in Alabama on felony child sexual abuse, but who thinks a district attorney there or the state’s attorney general will bring this before a grand jury? I do not. Where does that leave Moore and ALL the other predators out there ~ both men & women?

It took years for the LGBT community to come out of the closet & stand up and the time has finally come for victims of these heinous atrocities to stand up.

It is also time for the rest of us to stand up next to them and say enough is enough.

If the average Joe goes to jail for these crimes ~ why shouldn’t the wealthy be punished as well?

Well, they can’t legally be “proven” true after all these years, can they? Any physical evidence, if there was any, is long since gone. I think they probably happened by a simple preponderance, but I can not be sure beyond a reasonable doubt. So the white house statement, like most of of Trump’s statements, is meaningless.

However, sadly, it also would not surprise me if the WHite House cooked up these allegations because Trump’s candidate lost the primary, and Trump doesn’t like losing. Just think about that for a minute…a narcissistic President willing to do anything to not lose face. We’ve already seen him turn against other GOP candidates and congress members.

Calling Moore “Judge” isn’t appropriate since he disgraced and was removed from that high office TWICE! on ethics violations. And Moore’s response so far makes it clear that even 400 foot tall letters of fire in the sky put there by his god wouldn’t be enough to get him to withdraw.

so, SHS is lying and obfuscating. I’m sure that’s a shocker. At this point, if she said water is wet, I might have to doubt the usefulness of showers.
