Rabbi Compares Gay Couples To “Space Aliens” At Hate Group’s Rally For Anti-LGBT Colorado Baker [VIDEO]

The Colorado Times reports:

A conservative rabbi speaking at Wednesday’s Religious Freedom rally on behalf of baker Jack Phillips called same-sex couples “an abomination” and justified discrimination against them by comparing them to space aliens who “aren’t human beings.”

The rabbi is with the Coalition For Jewish Values. Here’s a bit of the transcript from his speech:

Let’s imagine E.T. lands tomorrow and someone falls in love with E.T. and decides to get married to E.T. Trust me – within two years the Supreme Court would decide that under the US Constitution Sally or Bill  could get married to E.T.

But because aliens are not human beings, and despite what you’ve seen on Star Trek, it would be impossible for aliens and humans to have children together- that would be the Biblical definition of marriage- and Jack Phillips would not be able to bake them a cake.

The rally was organized by Alliance Defending Freedom, which will represent Phillips before the Supreme Court next month.

Uh, nope. Abram and his half-sister Sara were married even when she was still barren.

and Jack Phillips could bake and sell them a cake if he wants to be a baker.

    Gays are not human beings?

I seem to remember a lot of Germans saying the same thing about Jews in recent memory.

    • Tatonka

I’ve been reading a book describing the experiences of the US ambassador to Germany during the 1930s. The similarities between that point and history and today are impossible to ignore.

      • Alexander M R Volk

What book is that? Sounds interesting.

        • Tatonka

“In the Garden of Beasts,” by Erik Larson. I’m only about 20% of the way, still in 1933, but the parallels are striking. People took Hitler as a joke to begin with, assumed he would settle down once in office, and found reasons to overlook the growing oppression of disfavored people because life rolled along normally for the majority.

Meanwhile the US by and large thought there was enough blame to go around on both sides. It’s very well done, and frankly kind of chilling.

          • Thorn Spike

            A great read.

  • alc2018

  • QueerJubu

A note of correction, though the correction would be to the Colorado paper that published the story. Rabbi Menken is not a “conservative rabbi.” Conservative is a denomination in Judaism and the Conservative movement in Judaism ordains LGBT rabbis and presides over same-gender marriages. He is an orthodox rabbi.

Also, Rabbi Menken is reported to have said in the story that there are only two genders. He doesn’t know his Talmud, where the rabbis of that period agreed that there were at least 5 genders.

Religious fundamentalism is a mental disorder. Homophobia is a mental disorder. This man is clearly suffering from both. And when people like that suffer, they spread their suffering around and project it onto others. May he come to know the truth about love. In the meantime, we must keep working to preserve and protect the separation of religion and the state.

I come from a Jewish family. Renounced it many years go. Some Rabbis in particular, not all, are virulently evil. When my mom was hospitalized in palliative care the local head Rabbi for the synagogue she used to go to (not often, she wasn’t particularly religious) came by for a last visit. For some reason my brother started a conversation about Palestine and Israel (my mom was in a coma so she had no part in this and thankfully couldn’t hear it). The Rabbi said, quite openly in front of me, my brother and another relative that Palestinians were vermin and should all be exterminated. Just like that. He assumed we were all on his side coming from a Jewish family and obviously just said what he was thinking.

I told him politely but firmly to please leave now but I didn’t really tell him what I thought. Not the time or place. He left. Never came back. He is still alive though and has a fairly high world wide profile having written some books and shit… none of them suggesting Palestinians or anyone else should be wiped out. He hated animals too especially dogs. He didn’t believe people should have pets..

Not only is Rabbi Schwartzman a wonderful woman who is often a guest here at our little farm. She’s also Lesbian. She’s wrestles a divided congregation of Reform and Conservative Jews. And she’s quite the polar opposite of Haredi rabbis from some far-way Shtetlekh in bum fuck Russia. The ultra orthodox shit is scary.

    this isn’t a law thing, it’s biology.
    this isn’t a religion thing, it’s biology.

and if a human wanted to marry an alien, it would not matter if they could have kids together or not. the exact same way that two 80 year olds can marry and the same way that infertile couples are allowed to marry. it’s a law thing, not religion and not biology.

I had the same thoughts. I grew up listening to horrific stories from neighbors who were relocated to the US during and after WWII. Stories of how they were dehumanized constantly so those around them could turn them in with easy consciences when the Nazis came through the neighborhoods to collect them. And yet, I see Rabbis and the like trying to do the same now to us. It would require them to be self aware enough to realize the similarities. And that seems to be asking too much.

This Jewish Rabbi must know that the Nazis justified their slaughter of Jews by saying that they weren’t human beings but rats and it was permissible to exterminate them. That is just what hateful men like this Rabbi would do to gay people if they had the power. If you want people to exterminate those you hate, you first teach them that they “aren’t human beings” and once they are convinced of that, murderous genocides are considered appropriate solutions to the “problem.” Final Solutions.

  • Gerry Fisher

Hey, putz. Try sitting down and chatting with an LGBT person before you start painting us as inhuman (and setting us up for abuse and possible extermination). You of all people should understand the danger of dehumanizing people you know nothing about.

  • Halou

I’m pretty sure if E.T.s have the means of reaching earth they would not sit back as their rights are infringed by backwards savages. If pushed too far the E.T.s will force humanity to respect them by force of arms!

  • Tawreos

I hope he realizes that only his hatred of the gays is what made them let him speak at there little hate rally. If it wasn’t for that they would think that calling their values Judeo-christian is as close to a jew as they would like to get.

  • lizdhm

If Philips only baked wedding cakes for evangelicals it couldn’t be called discrimination?

Um… it would violate the Civil Rights Act, so yes, it would be discrimination.

    What a doofus.

  • acde

I always find it hard to get how a group that has been targeted for hundreds of years is so oblivious of their own penchant for oppression. Israeli actions re the Palestinians in the territories also come to mind. My little brain cannot compute that.

    • sfbob

VERY FEW rabbis would agree with what this rabbi is saying.

      • Priya Lynn

Yeah, I’m not convinced of that. If this wasn’t a fairly common attitude he would have kept it to himself.

    • Snarkaholic

Especially a group that places such a high value on education…unlike the unedumacated bigots in the South (I’m not excusing them(!)

  • JohnJay
  • shellback
  • JCF
  • Alex Polkovsky

Soooo… Jack Phillips is on the front line as America’s greatest defense of the bible.

After not baking someone a cake, what’s his next trick? Besides being a useful idiot? As is the rabbi.

  • Macbill

And if he saw a woman with bare arms he would bully her to cover up.

  • rextrek

Interesting that JEWS were Once compared to RATS…..non human – this man is sick – and I doubt Very much the Jewish Holocaust museum would validate anything he says!

    • JAKvirginia

Truly. This man apparently has no knowledge of the history of the Jewish people. Schmuck, indeed.

  • kbhmsw

Disgusting hypocrite. Jews AND gays died in the Holocaust. And the gays were persecuted in Germany a lot longer, even AFTER the war.

  • Guess

Which dropped out of the sky… LGBTQ+ lovers… or, that hat?

  • Andrea_Rae

The difference between southern and northern Colorado is really astonishing.

  • Pizza009

    Jews for Nazis.
    Gay Republicans.
    Black (and brown) Trump supporters.

Isn’t life hard enough without kicking yourself?

  • The Sentinel

Jews have a name for this rabbi: Schmuck.

  • JohnJay

    What about Jewish Aliens?

  • CB

Hey, fucktard, you’re welcome to your antediluvian opinion…as long as it doesn’t get in the way of my fucking RIGHTS.

I’m afraid I’ve come to hate virtually all religions and the arrogant, hateful posturing they give rise to.

  • This guy must have forgotten how his people were characterized in the Germany of the 1930’s – he is someone who ought to know better than to vilify people who are different.

Perhaps the rabbi might want to analogize what he is doing, to a 1938 German children’s book, “The Poisonous Mushroom” – Never forget, Rabbi, and do not be like the Nazis who did this to your people )the link is to the book, fully illustrated, in English_:

    https://www.mtholyoke.edu/courses/rschwart/hist151/Nazi/poisonousmushroom.pdf

    • Jeffg166

After they get rid of the LGBT the Jews are next on the list. How soon they forget.

  • Canadian Observer

Crap like this is why I am fond of describing myself as “an equal opportunity atheist”. Just because I remove my shows at a mosque, cover my head at a synagogue and refrain from stubbing out my cigarette in a baptismal font doesn’t mean I take any of their ramblings seriously, just that my mother beat manners into me.

  • Thorn Spike

Gay couples aren’t space aliens, but that hat is out of this world.

  • DaveMiller135

Dehumanizing those you oppose, so that they can be stripped of their human rights? Where have I heard this before? Wait, it’ll come to me…..

  • LeeCMH

Know why Jews don’t do missionary work?

    The natives love Rabbi steak.

    • alguien

you need to be smacked upside the temple for that.

  • Paula Key

Any self-respecting alien would not want to marry an earthling! LOL

  • Gianni

Ummm, wearing a hat like that in public to speak to a crowd doesn’t lend itself to you calling other humans, whom you just don’t like, aliens. Wrap that hat in foil, it will add to the context of your speech. Hateful bastards!

  • Paula Key

Gay sex is an abomination 3,500 year old Leviticus:- so is eating pork, shellfish, cutting a beard…..And with regard to childbirth – this rabbi would still see the woman as unclean and would elevate the male child—-
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If a woman has conceived, and borne a male child, then she shall be unclean SEVEN days; as in the days of her customary impurity she shall be unclean. 3 And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. 4 She shall then continue in the blood of her purification thirty-three days (33). She shall not touch any hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary until the days of her purification are fulfilled. 5 ‘But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean TWO WEEKS, as in her customary impurity, and she shall continue in the blood of her purification sixty-six (66) days. 6 ‘When the days of her purification are fulfilled, whether for a son or a daughter, she shall bring to the priest a lamb of the first year as a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove as a sin offering, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting. There is also the orthodox Jewish prayer, “Thank you God that I am NOT a woman.” Boys are twice as valuable as girls .

    • Gianni

They’ll tell you that’s all Old Testament and has been supplanted by Jesus and the New Testament, except of course any of the Old Testament passages that give them the right and authority of God to condemn people of whom they just don’t approve. It’s always so fortunate for the religious haters that God always hates and condemns the same people THEY hate. Works like a charm everytime.

  • alguien

i assume that sally & bill & the space aliens are all consenting adults.

  • Friday

So much Abrahamic hate out there, it’s the only thing they agree on.

    • leastyebejudged

And frankly, Abraham would be APPALLED !

      • Friday

Probably not. He was where they got their projected blood-sacrifice-and-virgins fetish.

  • Elaygee

He learned nothing from the Jewish people’s experience in WWII and the Holocaust, parroting Nazi genetic gobbledy gook as fact.

  • Raising_Rlyeh
  • Ross

Silly! You got it all wrong!

Everybody knows that it’s Rabbi’s who are an abomination! And, hey, it’s OK to discriminate against them because they are like space aliens who aren’t human beings!

So…said…some guy in Germany in the 1930s.

  • motordog

Oh, fuck you…fuck your beliefs, fuck your stupid hat, just fuck you, you fuckity fucking fuck.

  • Ann Kah

That man – in that hat – talking about aliens?

  • fuzzybits

He needs two of those hats.

  • Hey dliodahed, you are why people, including the faithful, can’t stomach your vile spewing vomitous utterances. Keep it up please, and you will soon become extinct. Or, keep it to yourself and your congregates and stop trying to force your beliefs on a pluralistic nation thru legislation.

  • marshlc

I’m a woman past menopause. By this logic, I wouldn’t get a wedding cake either, since even if I married a man, there could be no children.

Of course, their counter to this argument is that God could, if he wanted, use a miracle and a pregnancy could occur. Seems to me that any God who could make an old woman pregnant could do the same to a man. Or an alien, for that matter, if he wanted.

Funny how their God can only do the things they want him to be able to do.

    • leastyebejudged

To be fair you shouldn’t be eating a cake at your age anyway.

      Diabetus.

  • JackFknTwist

    How sickening.
To hear a Rabbi call us non-humans, or sub-humans, …has he no decency ?
Has he no knowledge of his own people’s sufferings ?
Has he learned anything from history?
Has he forgotten the camps ?
Now he calls us the same words as the Nazis used, “untermenschen”…sub-humans.

What a shameful slug he is.

  • JackFknTwist

You call us “untermenschen” Rabbi ?

Have you lost your mind ?
have you no sense of decency ?

  • leastyebejudged

Zionism like this is exponentially harmful once they create a state. Ooops.

  • Kyle Deetz

Dude your hat is a flying saucer.

  • Mike Knife

The religion that is the most discriminated against religion in the world is the Jewish religion and now you know why.

  • Achilles Tsakiridis

We can only pray that aliens land on earth so that your stupid mythology goes the way of the dinosaur …

  • TheManicMechanic

God’s Chosen People. Yeah, chosen to be just as stupid and hateful as any other sillyassed religion.

  • John Reubens

sorry two words that should never go together.. religious freedom.. they just don’t go together.. so much hate can be hidden in religion and tried to be explained by freedom..

    • NowVoyager

Organized religion retards intellectual development in that it requires the abandonment of rational inquiry. It also, too often, justifies the unjustifiable and attempts to make moral the most immoral inhumane acts against others who do not wish to join their “klan” and abide by their cultish imbecilic rules of conduct and belief.

  • Kissmagrits

Check your holocaust history rabbi….November 9th and 10th mark the 79th anniversary of an event throughout Germany called Kristallnacht…a terrifying prelude of things to come. Your statements sound eerily familiar to me.

  • Genex17

Ok. I never thought I’d post this, but here you go.

I think ET would be a kind, sensitive, and generous spouse.

  • Penny Marie Sautereau

Wait, I’m an alien? WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED OF THIS??? I DEMAND MY TARDIS!!!!!

  • DN

Religious supremacy is everywhere in America. Just this past week, a coworker who I like a lot, was telling a group of us about how there’s this christian cross erected on public land in Maryland. It was put there to honor veterans of the First World War. “And then a bunch of *atheists* come along and complain.”

Yes, coworker, say “atheist” like it’s a disease. That’s an intelligent thing to do at work. The fact that he was addressing the comment to an actual atheist makes it even more egregious.

  • DN

Oh my god, he’s talking about someone falling in love with ET.

Does he know that there is ET porn? I kid you not.

  • DN

Would Jack Philips be OK making a cake for a pair of atheists? The rabbi says that Phillips would only bake cakes for people celebrating holy matrimony.

  • Larry in Oklahoma

And yet some of these “Space aliens” defeated some ‘deplorable people’ last Tuesday. Go figure that one out, Rabid Rabbi.

  • Nowhereman

Here’s the deal. It doesn’t matter what your mythology says about marriage or anything else. Our laws are not based on the belief in the supernatural. Our laws are secular. And it’s pretty rich for a jew to be talking about who’s a human being and who is not. And what about all the straight couples who can’t or won’t have children?

  • Al Prazolam

These Old Testament Jews are an abomination. They live is a severely limited world. The worst are the Hassidic Jews, who segregate men and women to a severe degree. They are not human. Their lives are a punishment. Today they may align themselves with Christians. Tomorrow both sides will curse each other.

  • Geena Vah

Hey rabbi, OLD PEOPLE who want to get married can’t make babies either you FUCKTARD.

  • this just makes me want to fuck a rabbi even more

  • Chaim Mishulovin

The current quote is “A politically conservative rabbi speaking at Wednesday’s Religious Freedom rally on behalf of baker Jack Phillips”

It’s important to indicate that this was an Orthodox rabbi with politically conservative views. Conservatism is a Jewish sect unto it’s own and approves of same-sex marriage.
