Fox News Legal Analyst: Actual Victims Of Sexual Predators Are “Very Few And Far Between” [VIDEO]

The Hill reports:

Host Sean Hannity asked Mercedes Colwin, a manager partner of the law firm Gordon & Rees in New York, how common it is for women to make up harassment allegations for money or “political reasons.”

“There are individuals that’ll come forward with these outrageous allegations,” Colwin replied. Hannity argued that those making allegations that are unfounded hurt the actual victims most.

“There are women who are victims of predators,” Hannity said. “There are, but very few and far between,” Colwin replied.

  • Mark

    I just can’t.

  • Mr. M

What’s truly sad is that Fox News is the #1 cable news show. The amount of ignorance and, literally, fake news being fed out to so much of the public is very distressing. This country is headed towards something really bad. Not sure what this is yet though…

    • AmeriCanadian

Fascist plutocracy dictatorship (take your pick). That’s where we are headed.

  • Nic Peterson

At this rate, Marmalade Mussolini will be able to build his wall out of wrought irony.

    • JayRock

This is hilarious. But he had enough wrought irony for a 3,000 mile wall months ago.

    • TrueWords

According to Hannity every woman who has accused Harvey Weinstein is telling the truth and every woman who has accused Trump or Moore is lying.

Nothing political about that….what a bunch of hypocritical assholes

      • narutomania

If their names were Roy Moorestein and Donald J. Trumpberg, then Hannity would also be bleating about their guilt.

      • But see, one was in Hollyweird so he’s all secular and evil while the other two are True Christians™, so the accusations are persecution and stuff. You know, just like how Britney Spears’ sister was a raging slut for having a kid out of wedlock but Sarah Palin’s daughter was a pro-life angel when she did the same.

        I wish I was kidding. =/

    • “Wrought Irony” — Good one, Nic! Very, very good.

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

    Bill Donohue would be proud.

  • Ninja0980

Unless they are accusing Bill Clinton.
In which case we’ll ignore the fact that they have engaged in the behavior they claimed made Hillary unfit to be President including calling the Trump accusers liars and whore and attacking others while campaigning for a man who bragged on tape about assaulting women and use them to deflect from any criticism on how we treat abuse victims.

  • Ugh. Of course she did.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

Ya really think you have any cred on any topic ??

LOL -Your little pretend ” nerws ” show has an actual Nazi sitting there.

    COME ON now.!!

  • I saw that clip and have to say I took a little while to clear the vomit from the back of my throat. However, this sums up my feelings about Fox, who I thought was a conservative parody site like The Onion…but obviously have gone a little too far:

  • Paula
  • Friday’s_cat

Does these fools realize they just exonerated former president Bill Clinton?

  • “how common it is for women to make up harassment allegations for money or ‘political reasons’ ”
Here’s good old Fox, projecting as usual.

  • Frostbite

Wow. Tell that to all the women Fox “News” paid off.

  • boobert

How do people get this stupid?

    • djcoastermark

The bibull told them so. Seeing as they can’t read, it was told to them by some church leader.

    • thatotherjean

I’m pretty sure they have to work at it.

  • Lazycrockett
    • BearEyes

how many bodies are buried in his basement?

      • Karl Dubhe

Buried? I’m thinking they’re in his freezer. Bones under the floor, or…

        • olandp

Under the floor, hell, used to make the furniture.

      • Xiao Ai: The Social Gadfly

        All of them.

    • He’s using exactly the language sexual predators use to silence their victims: “You shut up and never speak of what we did, or YOU will be punished. Not me. You.”

I’m thinking someone needs to take a look at Ed Henry’s past.

    • jmax

Of course. This will also serve as a warning to other victims not to get above their raising and talk about what the menfolk do to them. Vile piece of fucking shit.

    • AlternativeQuacks

Many of the candidates who pulled off upsets and won on Tuesday were motivated to run for office for the first time precisely by comments like these.

      • JW Swift

Too bad it has to get to this level for citizens to step up.

  • My loathing for this woman knows no limit right now.

  • HZ81

Megyn Kelly, Andrea Tantaros, Gretchen Carlson, Andrea Mackris, Laurie Dhue, and and jillion other ex-Foxers say hi, bitch.

  • Snarky

So this is what it’s like to live in the FOX bubble. In that world, women lie because men simply don’t do this kind of thing.

Unless it’s Bill Clinton, or a Hollywood power player who donates to Dems, or a black man, or Anthony Weiner…. in which case, it’s always guilty as charged, no matter who makes the accusations.

    These fuckers are shameless.

  • Raising_Rlyeh
  • Paula

If this woman said this to me, I would willingly do the jail time for the assault she would suffer.

    • david

      No, you wouldn’t.

      • Paula

  • safari

Uh. Has she talked to women?

  • mr wonderful

    Mercedes Colwin?

    Fuck you.
As part of the “me too” crowd.

    • Treant

Fun Fact: Mercedes is commonly reported to mean “Mercies,” but taking it through the literal Latin would translate it more as “Wages” or “Payment.” Much like “Miseratione non Mercede” means “We do this for mercy, not for payment.”

Colwin is a river in Wales.

Her name literally means “River of Payment.”

      • JW Swift

…and since the opposite of “pro” is “con”, then the opposite of progress is Congress.

  • thatotherjean

Perhaps on whatever planet she’s from. Not on this one.

  • The_Wretched

Uh, I guess Faux News hasn’t heard about the tens of millions of dollars they have paid out to settle sexual harassment suits? Those weren’t claims by ‘money grubbers’ but rather well documented by multiple women there.

  • Lazycrockett

Think Hannity smacked her ass as he cut her the check?

  • Slippy_World
  • In a 2012 maltreatment report, of the victims who were sexually abused, 26% were in the age group of 12–14 years and 34% were younger than 9 years.

Approximately 1.8 million adolescents in the United States have been the victims of sexual assault.

Research conducted by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that approximately 1 in 6 boys and 1 in 4 girls are sexually abused before the age of 18.

35.8% of sexual assaults occur when the victim is between the ages of 12 and 17.

82% of all juvenile victims are female

69% of the teen sexual assaults reported to law enforcement occurred in the residence of the victim, the offender, or another individual.

Teens 16 to 19 years of age were 3 ½ times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.

Approximately 1 in 5 female high school students report being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.

    • Lars Littlefield

Hannity insists all those are pseudo statistics. They are not true. And the CDC lies.

  • Lazycrockett
  • safari
    • Karl Dubhe

      I was 13 that year…

So, if I’d been a year older I’d have been an adult, eh? Sure. Damn, where does he get his weed?

    • AlternativeQuacks

I just googled it and the way the Alabama law is written is really funky. It’s clear that it would be some kind of crime, but the names of the crimes vary according to the age of the participants. If a 30-year-old had sex with a 14-year-old, it is considered “sexual abuse”, whereas if a 17-year-old had sex with a 14-year-old, it is considered “second degree rape”. That seems backwards to me, unless sexual abuse is a more severe crime than 2nd degree rape?

    • Tulle Christensen

The age of consent has been 16 for a very long time in Alabama…at least as far back as 1920

  • edrex

“few and far between…” except at fox news.

  • AlternativeQuacks

Okay, am I sexist for asking, “That’s how a legal analyst dresses to go on national television?” Would she wear that in court? I pity her clients.

    • WNY

It’s the mandatory dress code for women on Faux News

      • AlternativeQuacks

I thought the peek-a-boo hole was kind of redundant since the lace is see-through anyways.

    • boatboy_srq

Heightens the shock factor when she goes for the jugular.

  • Snarky

Colwin is one of the women who defended Roger Ailes against Gretchen Carlson’s claims of sexual harassment. And we know how that turned out. So she’s TOTALLY credible on this issue.

  • Bambino

I rearrange her last name to Iclown. Not affiliated with Apple though

  • GayOldLady

“There are women who are victims of predators,” Hannity said. “There are, but very few and far between,” Colwin replied.

If only that were true. One in Five women have been sexually assaulted. One in 71 men. It’s true and all the denial from the propagandists at Fox News can’t change that.

    • JAKvirginia

None of it’s true… UNTIL IT HAPPENS TO THEM. (Caps for emphasis. Not shouting.) And even then, they will deny it to suit their purposes. Their lack of empathy and sympathy can be truly astounding.

  • boatboy_srq

Colwin has Demi Moore’s character in Disclosure written all over her. Of course she doesn’t admit to the pervasiveness of sexual predation.

    • Bambino

Not if it gets in the way of her whoring for a few bucks.

      • boatboy_srq

A few bucks? My guess is it’s how she plans to make Senior Partner.

  • Lazycrockett
    • Treant

Good, it saves me the trouble of evaluating the reports.

    • WNY

      His career is over now

    • Karl Dubhe

That’s a better way of handling this sort of thing than Moore or others have done.

Has he actually admitted criminal liability?

      • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

I agree. Much better than Spacey’s, “I choose to be a gay man and I’m going into sex addiction therapy”.

        • pj

because all gay men are sex addicts

          • Todd20036

whatever, Spacey is an idiot. No sympathy

      • WNY

maybe misdemeanors? indecent exposure, and temporary restriction of liberty when he blocked the door so the women couldn’t leave the room until he had finished masturbating.

    • Bambino

The sad thing about his statement is, it’s an exception in today’s world to what should be a minimum first admission, apology and confession that many sexual predators do not even come close to saying it.

    • BearEyes

if you’re going to do this crap, at least admit it. Doesn’t excuse the crap you shouldn’t be doing anyway, but trying a lying cover-up doesn’t work either.

  • Gustav2

I know this not in my lane; but we should revoke this one’s “Female Card”

  • PhallicMetaphor

I am going to believe the network whose motto is “we haven’t come across the ass we would slap or pinch”

And didn’t she sue for harassment by Ailes?

    • Priya Lynn

So crazy. Its not an either/or thing with every woman every time – it could go either way depending on the person and situation.

  • Ginger Snap

I hope she never needs someone to believe her if something happens to her. Fucking Bitch.

  • Strepsi

I hope the law firm of Gordon & Rees is inundated and goes under.

  • greenmanTN

From one of the Spacey accusers, the best explanation I’ve read from a gay male perspective, or at least the most accurate based on my own experiences.

“At the time, I would’ve told you that relationship was completely consensual. That we were boyfriends. I would’ve said, “Yeah, I’m 14, but I’m really smart. I’m really together. And it’s normal that 25-year-old men would want me to be their boyfriend because I’m a grown-up.”

You think you’re an adult, handling it, then things go completely off the rails…

    • olandp

That is why children of 14 cannot sign contracts. No matter how grown up they may think they are, they aren’t.

  • Ish

I guess they’ve never glanced at facebook or twitter #MeToo posts

  • Travis Morrow

They won’t love you, Mercedes. They don’t know how. Being the “cool girl” won’t work. They’ll debase and abuse you until you break, flee, or die. Who are you afraid of? Let loose your truth now. The tide is turning on them. You don’t have to be alone and afraid anymore.

  • Mike C

They’re going down the “legitimate rape” road again. Unbelievable!

Missing you, wish you were here, Ms Colwin.

They’re few and far between, but higher concentrations can be expected within the realms of politics, religion and right-wing broadcasting.

    • JW Swift

Funny how it seems to work out that way, huh?

  • Jean-Marc in Canada
    • Stogiebear

I’m surprised they let her go on the air in that dress. I’d have expected them to make her do it with her breasts fully exposed.

  • marshlc

Oh for christ’s sake, they’re not even few and far between at Fox News! They could probably have found half a dozen within fifty feet of where they’re talking.

    • Snarkaholic

And I hope those co-workers “get even” with her…

  • SFBruce

I don’t buy the “far and few between” business, but even if I did, that fact would be cold comfort to the victims of real harassment. Leigh Corfman, the woman who has accused Moore of sexually inappropriate acts with her when she was 14 is highly credible. She’s willing to go on record against a popular, potentially powerful politician and others corroborate her story. She’s a Republican who voted for Trump, and there’s absolutely no evidence any one is paying her to do this or that Democrats had anything to do with her coming forward. Colwin is calling all the women who blew the whistle on Ailes, O’Reilly and Bolling liars. Even Mitt “binders full of women” Romney believes Corfman.

  • Pip

Any time a fucking woman stands up and defends or excuses a rapist or child predator I just want to waive my karma points and hope they experience their own moment of what it is to be a woman in a predator protective society.

  • Bj Lincoln

Most of the women I know suffered some kind of sex abuse in their lives. Many when they were children. It happens all the time! Child molesters don’t stop with one or two kids. They can go on for years until they get caught, get too old or die. It is shit like this that keeps people from coming forward with the truth. They are re-victimized many times over and often made to feel like they did something wrong when they are NOT to blame. Men don’t come forward because the first thing is that men can’t be abused or raped. They are treated horrible by the system. The law and the system are on the abusers side.

    • Tor

      Who writes the laws?

That’s hilarious coming from FUX News. How many men who worked there were given the boot for sexual harassment and assault? Even Rodger Ailes, the top dog, was shown the door. Sean Hannity and guests – asswipes galore. Sean, you really grovel in the dirt for your paycheck, don’t you.

  • Well, speaking as a Family Therapist who started working with sexually abused clients/patients In the 1980s, and as a former Kinsey Institute Faculty membe–so I’m you know, speaking from research and not from a Fo-laden opinion:

We recorded data on all of our clients/patients (patients get meds, clients don’t–it’s an insurance billing difference). at Seattle’s Harborview Interpersonal Psychotherapy Clinic. So–these are not people who are walking through the door who are usually presenting as an issue of sexual abuse–they’re there for marriage counseling, anxiety, grief–so across the board concerns. Just so, 1 out of every 5 males we saw reported having experienced sexual abuse, and 1 out of every four females. Interestingly, the 25% of women reflects the experience of Freud in his early years working in Vienna. His female patients were usually abused by their fathers. Freud realized if he accused high-ranking Viennese men of molesting their daughters, he wouldn’t have much of a career as a Jewish doctor. So he decided to do something that set back secual abuse knowledge and treatment for generations–he came up with the idea the daughters weren’t really being diddled by daddy–but they FANTASIZED being diddled by daddy.

Now excuse me–this sort of crap pisses me off so I’m off to CC Seattle’s for a martini.

    • Grumpy Old Man

Thank you for that update on Freud – he made shit up to protect his career. Pisses me off too – time for a really bitter IPA (84 IBUs).

      • I will lift up my martini in salute to you tonight at CC Seattle’s 🙂

  • ColdCountry

I’m thinking a lot of us define those words a bit differently than those two.

I sued a company that retaliated against a woman who Complained about sexual harassment in the workplace. The company hired this Talking head as its first attorney I did a little research which revealed that she had been George Pataki appointee to the human rights commission. Later she stepped down, got a job at a law firm and sued a doctor for malpractice in The performance of liposuction. I guess they were trying to scare me away but when we filed, the company settled quickly.
