Pelosi: Impeachment Shouldn’t Be A Priority [VIDEO]

Politico reports:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that even if Democrats were to retake control of the House in the 2018 elections, pushing for impeachment proceedings of President Donald Trump would not be one of their legislative priorities. “It’s not someplace that I think we should go,” Pelosi, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said of whether Democrats would seek to oust the president if they regained the majority.

Pelosi has reportedly been privately critical of billionaire Tom Steyer’s impeachment ad campaign.

  • Harveyrabbit

YES it fucking well should be!

  • Bluto

Time for her to retire. Or go eat a bag of dog shit & die.

  • swimboy

Why? Does she plan to commit treason after Dems take the house and expect the same treatment?

    • AmeriCanadian

      Sounds very suspicious doesn’t it?

    • Friday

It’s cause the Dems don’t have the votes without a lot of Republicans on board yet, so it’d be a waste of what political capital there is to jump the gun here.

      • CottonBlimp

After 8 years of Republican obstructionism with Obama, how can people still believe in political capital? It’s just not how anything works. That’s not something you use up – when a major political party fights for something, no matter how loony, that becomes an accepted part of the political debate.

        • Friday

In this case they dont’ want to flail ineffectually at an impeachment the Republicans will block, ….they should be campaigning more effectively locally to hold seats and try to pick up what they can.

          • CottonBlimp

The quote is Pelosi saying that *even if* Democrats retake Congress and have the ability to impeach Trump, they’re not going to do it.

            It’s fucking madness.

    • McSwagg

Without the Senate votes to make it stick, impeachment would be the equivalent of the GOP repeals of the ACA while Obama was President. It would be nothing more than an empty, meaningless gesture.

  • Lazycrockett

Play your cards close to your chest. Pelosi is right, don’t act like impeachment is on the table…..yet.

    • another_steve

Pelosi may have reached the same conclusion that some of us here on JMG have reached: the Democrats are much better off going into 2018 and 2020 with Trump at the head of the Republican Party.

Impeach Trump and you get Pence – an experienced, articulate, non-tweeting dyed-in-the-wool theofascist politician who could actually get parts of the monstrous Republican agenda done.

      • bkmn

Hopefully Flynn going down will result in Pence going down shortly afterwards.

        • Todd20036

wow. I read that as “Flynn going down on Pence…”

          Just. Wow.

        • Dan Ryan

There is a tape, of Pence, McConnell, Ryan, and more GOP filth, discussing 3 million in Russian money. Best quote “ Putin only pays Trump and Rorhbacher ( that deranged freak from SoCal)”

The tape was made by intelligence, as the contacts with russsians were being scrutinized.
We have no media as this would be the end of the GOP if it were released.

          • Galvestonian

            RELEASE THE DAMN THING !!!!

        • stanhope

          Amen

      • TrueWords

But Pence will behave like the good little bitch that he is and the GOP will get their much needed wake up call

      • If Trump is removed from office, Pence is going to be sworn in as a very weak President. I don’t see the Republicans both in the House and in the Senate to vote for impeachment and removal of Trump from office.. They will do it, if they feel Trump is going to doomed them as well in the 2020 election..

        • another_steve

The Republican establishment hates Trump. Ryan and McConnell included. They never thought the monster had a chance of winning the presidency. After he did, they’ve been horrified just like the rest of us (though for different reasons).

I think the Republican establishment would sigh a major major sigh of relief if Trump resigns or is removed from office.

          • Whether they hate President Trump or not, Trump is the Party leader. They are not going to vote to remove a President from their own party, unless they are worried about their own political survival. The same voters that backed Trump support all the GOP Congressional leaders. Even someone like Lisa Murkowski, knows this..

They will remove Trump from office when it is too late for them, and they are facing an election disaster in 2020. However, they will remove him not by a Senate Trial, but by telling Trump that he is going to lose, and lose big, and should either drop his pursuit for the party nomination, or back another GOP politician for the Republican nomination for President in 2020..

          • another_steve

“They are not going to vote to remove a President from their own party, unless they are worried about their own political survival.”

I agree 100 percent with that.

Personally, I have a suspicion that Trump will voluntarily resign. He could be making millions and millions of more dollars on the outside than he’s making as President.

He never expected to win in the first place. His run for the presidency was a gigantic PR gimmick – designed, perhaps, to increase the audience share for his next Reality TV show. Plus he probably doesn’t like the White House food.

He’ll declare victory (he’ll lie about his “accomplishments” of course, but the deplorables will eat it up) and he’ll go back home to his penthouses and golf resorts.

          • McSwagg

Here’s hoping that dRumpf’s next reality TV show is titled “The Treasons and Trials of the Trumps“. I hate reality TV, but that is one show I would watch religiously (and I’m a scientific rationalist).

      • Blackfork

        No, Pence will go too.

        • another_steve

Possibly. Pence’s filth-connections are beginning to surface.

          Paul Ryan as President?

Well, visually we could have worse…

      • MarkBuster

I think we can let go of 2020 also.. there is WAY too much anger for a unified DNC by 2020

I’ve suggested on this blog many times that the Trump presidency’s major lasting damage will be in his judicial appointments.

    • There is no point of Impeachment unless they know 17-20 Republican Senators are either on the fence or seriously thinking about it.. There also has to be stand out criminal action done by President Trump. Being Repugnant, Repulsive and Corrupt isn’t enough to remove Trump from office..

It is not about Trump, in many ways it is to persuade 17-20 Republican Senators. One has to get someone like Ted Cruz and other repulsive Republicans to vote to remove Trump from office..

      • another_steve

        Yes to all that.

Trump’s favorable number is hovering around 37 percent. With that number, congressional Republicans who aren’t retiring or dying aren’t going to abandon him.

If his number goes below 30 percent, all or many of the Republican rats will then jump off the Trump Titanic.

    • Exatron

Yeah, Pelosi is a very effective politician. That’s why Republicans have demonized her at every opportunity.

Impeaching Trump and failing to remove him would help him.

    • Do Something Nice

Sorry, playing card close is all she does. She’s against Medicare for All. But what is she for? Where is the Democrats healthcare plan? Where is their tax plan?

These people want to use the losing strategy ‘the other guy is worse so vote for us.’ In a normal country that should be a winning strategy, but it won’t work here.

All we know is what she doesn’t support.

    • Jeffrey

      EXACTLY

    • Silver_Witch

Oh please you imply Pelosi is just being willy – when the truth is that NO one in the democratic party has any intent of stopping Trump. It never ceases to amaze me how blind to the corruption of the party everyone is.

  • bkmn

I agree, for now. Let the candidates in 2018 stand on their own, without the right constantly linking her to everyone.

    • Bluto

The right WILL link every candidate to commie pelosi, Kenyan Obama, crooked Hillary, Benghazi, antifa, BLM, black panther, Mexican & muslim terrorists, satan, gay nazis, the war on christmas, taking their jobs & guns, the heartbreak of psoriasis, diabeetus & much more.

  • The Sentinel

Ugh, this woman is so smart and accomplished and then this sickening drivel.

  • Dramphooey

This will prompt some knee jerk anger but she is right in saying it because the jerks will just say it is political revenge even though they themselves called for locking up the Democratic candidate.

    • Lazycrockett

The dems calling for impeachment before the 2018 mid terms will only galvanize the GOP base costing the dems the house and the senate. She is being very smart cause history has shown that dems don’t turn out for mid terms.

      • Ernest Endevor

Which is one of the contributory factors to the current situation. Democrats also don’t support the party. They support candidates. And we don’t have a stable of tame billionaires to front the DNC as does the RNC. Impeachment would lend Trump sympathy. Let him be tried in a criminal court.

    • CPT_Doom

Yep, the party needs leaders like her to be sober and conservative in their actions, as well as firebrands like Ted Lieu and Maxine Waters to push impeachment at the same time. It seems like good strategy to me.

  • PickyPecker

If/when the Dem’s take back control of the House, it is WAY past time that Pelosi step back and allow another to take the Speaker position.

    • AlternativeQuacks

I do think she has been an excellent Speaker, but I agree. We’re in new territory now and need new leaders.

      • Tor

Please tell Feinstein. We need new blood in the Senate, too.

        • Acronym Jim

I think Al Franken would be excellent in the job.

          • Judas Peckerwood

We need Al Franken in the White House.

          • MarkBuster

you’ll have to get him there without a single vote from Bernie people. I doubt that’s possible.

          • EDinMCO

Most, if not all, of the “Bernie people” I know would vote for Franken, including me and the Bernie campaign staffers/volunteers I worked with. Before I volunteered with Hillary’s campaign, that is.

          • MarkBuster

really?? cuz I’m what they call in these pages a Berenie Bro, (brown, gay, financially ok), and I think Frankin really said some frighteningly undemocractic things.

          • Most of people who support Bernie are minorities now. The Bernie Bro image was just a tactic used against them like the Obama boys was in 08 but this took off better.

  • MikeBx2

Ok, impeach Pence first. Then Trump.

  • Chris

She is 100% correct. We can’t make the midterms about impeachment. Especially since the evidence isn’t there yet. Let Meuller do his job. Let his numbers continue to tank, let him continue to hang himself. Nancy Pelosi is nothing if not a political animal, and her job is to take the majority and that is exactly what she is trying to do. She knows that the hardcore impeachment fans will not vote Republican and are motivated to vote, she needs to keep the undecideds and they are not there yet on impeachment.

  • danolgb

How about “impeachment can’t be a priority” unless we regain both houses? There is no way the Republicans are going to let it through when over half of their base believes Trump can do no wrong. Until then, we’re wasting time that needs to be spent on getting back control.

Just running an impeachment campaign will not win the middle we need, running an anti-Trumplican policy campaign is a winner,

  • BartmanLA

I can sort of see her reluctance to move forward with impeachment, mainly because it will trigger a complete and utter division of Congress to the point that legislatively nothing will ever get done. Also I’m sure she has taken the potential unrest in this country impeachment proceedings will set off. Violence, riots, and protests that will do nothing but cause destruction and injure or possibly kill many many people.

    • boatboy_srq

What has been accomplished since 2010? The “gridlock” impeachment foes quake in fear of has already been upon Congress for seven years. There is no healing the current breach: there is only fragmenting the GOTea past the point of lockstep resistance and acting during their disarray. The alternative is recognizong fascists and fascist enablers as a legitimate political voice.

  • ElenorRigby

She’s right. Political battles don’t do us any good. Get us better health care, get us higher wages and more jobs and protect education and voting rights. Those actually affect us.

    • Berdawn Hutchinson

like single payer and increasing the minimum wage and supporting public schools instead of charters? the stuff that Clinton wouldn’t support in 2016? The Dems don’t GAF about any of that

It seems like it worked out pretty well for them.

  • Rillion

I don’t think they should touch impeachment until at least after the midterms. We need Trump’s base demoralized. If impeachment is happening during 2018, it would cause Trump’s supporters to turn out to elect Trumpian Republicans to defend him in the House.

  • Barry William Teske

So rebrand it as an imorangement.
    Glad to help!

  • Proud MOFO Beaner (bkb)

Relax people — she’s playing a longer game

Trump/Russia doesn’t poll as well as issues like health care and taxes for the Dems. Nancy is saying this to focus on 2018. Impeachment, based on their polling, simply isn’t a winnable issue politically. At least now in the earlier stages of the Mueller investigation. Behind the scenes she’s relying on mueller to do his job to find evidence that will put impeachment on the table.

  • MikeBx2

I think when the overwhelming evidence of Trump’s crimes emerge, he’ll resign.

  • I love dim sum

Further proof that people like Pelosi, Feinstein and Schumer are really just Republicans behind the scenes.

2018 is going to be another bloodbath for the DNC, but they don’t care bc they are still getting that donor money.

  • Tomcat

Just like it was NOT a priority to make the media be honest and aboveboard during the campaign, REICH.

  • SoCalGal20

I get her reluctance from a political standpoint but there HAS to be consequences. Maybe Nancy’s just hoping it will get so bad he’ll have to resign.

The people will eventually demand some action.

    • TuuxKabin

Then she should say so. We’re suppose to know her intent? Silly ol’ thing. Her. Not you.

      • SoCalGal20

As House Minority Leader (who stands to take over as Speaker again if Dems get control in 2018) it’s probably not politically wise(?) for her to be pushing for impeachment (I mean to the Dems as a whole). Yes, we want it. She wants Trump gone too, I’m sure, either by resignation or impeachment if that’s what it takes. But, Mueller has to finish his investigation. Once Trump is charged with conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and the legal documents to back it up, I am pretty sure she’d change her position.

Maybe she really doesn’t want him to be impeached but I feel like it’s more that she has to allow the process to get to a certain point before she comes out for it.

She’s also right that for the Dems the majority of Americans want to see policy positions the can vote for. They’re not as closely following all the corruption and TrumpRussia stuff like we do here. Impeaching Trump isn’t as much of a priority for them as having healthcare or a better paying job or a clean environment or whatever.

        • TuuxKabin

Got it thanks. Wish we’d hooked up when we were out there. I enjoy reading your comments on or off topic. Informative and helpful. BTW? I got a lot of confusion with my mailing of Halloween cards. I’ll send belated one if you like. Raw and cold here. California Dreamin’ comes to mind.

I might be okay with this, IF she actually gets up and mobilizes the Democratic party to take ACTION and begin restoring democracy for the people.

    That’s a yuuuuge IF.

    • Gerry Fisher

Agreed. I just finished Joy Reid’s call to action in the Daily Beast. The Democratic Party currently seems to have no leadership, no plan, no money, and no message. If all Pelosi can contribute is “tsk, tsk…impeachment is politically unwise!”, then she’s part of the problem. Fine, don’t focus on impeachment (I happen to agree). Find *another* *message* *and* *strategy*…FRIGGIN’ SOON! The party needs to stand for something.

  • DaddyRay

    • MikeBx2

I’m pretty sure Hannity is calling for her impeachment now. lol

    • I love dim sum

Well, Hillary colluded with Russia to get dirt on her opposition, so she probably would be facing impeachment proceedings too.

  • boatboy_srq

    1) Hasn’t Pelosi sung that tune before?

    2) She IS right: it should NOT be a priority. Unfortunately Lord Dampnut is making it appear an imminent necessity. Pelosi best be prepared for that.

  • Karl Dubhe

I can understand her saying that, it’s not a priority. The priority should be to monkeywrench the freaking House Republicans. Make amendments to every amendment, bung up the works by using all of the rules and orders.

Stop them from appointing judges, and use the same damn arguments that the Republican’s used in President Obama’s last year in office.

Hinder them from confirming people to the government. Obstruct, obstruct, obstruct.

  • I love dim sum

If the guy committed treason, you better be impeaching his ass. That’s true simply on the basis of negative precedent. You don’t want the next person to think that’s OK.

Yes, impeachment costs political capital. And not doing so? That’s also going to cost you political capital, Nancy, if the situation is clear.

    • zhera

Question: Let’s say Donnie stays POTUS until 2020, and then a Dem President takes over. Can/Would/Will Donnie be prosecuted in any way for the treason, corruption, and self-serving he’s guilty of?

      • Karl Dubhe

Sorry to answer a question with another question, but…

What happened when Obama took over from Bush?

        • zhera

I know, but what COULD have happened? I don’t know what protections former presidents have.

          • Karl Dubhe

In what used to be called Realpolitik, nothing.

Generally, kings and presidents aren’t thrown in prison unless they’re from very small nations. Someone like Bush would have had to be hanged; and there is no chance of that happening. The US President’s not a small fry. Even the blowhard Trump.

        • Friday’s_cat

Pelosi for what ever reasons squashed that when she became Speaker back in 2007.

          • Karl Dubhe

Two years left in office at that point. In retrospect, she made the right choice. 🙁 Much as I still dislike that.

      • Treant

Theoretically? He could be. But, as Karl noted, look what happened with Obama and Bush, who was most definitely a war criminal.

    • BudClark

Impeachment costs EVERYONE *dearly* … it paralyzes the government (for years?); the machinery is positively BYZANTINE *and* BOR-ing (!). Better the Shitgibbon-In-Chief be tried by a MILITARY tribunal (if THAT’S possible), and then send him to Gitmo, “accidently” dropping him overboard into a school of hungry sharks!

If this was Hillary willing to meet with Kim Jong-un they would be saying she was week and was negotiating with terrorists

      • DaddyRay

I was going to fix the spelling of weak and then figured since I was talking about what Republicans would be saying I would leave it to sound more like them

  • Gregory In Seattle

    So what ARE their priorities?

    • I love dim sum

Pelosi’s priorities are centered on her donors, that’s it.

    • zhera

Re-election. All politicians, all parties, all countries. It’s sickening.

  • JAKvirginia

Okay. Y’know what pisses me off? That Pelosi and others have to play these games because Dems don’t vote off year. That’s it really. Pandering to a bunch of pissy fucks who can’t or won’t stand up for their party and vote. I’m getting to the opinion that Dems just like to bitch. And that their lives have no meaning until they can.

  • zhera

See, this is one of the things I hate about politics. Sure, there are reasons for saying this or that, and timing is everything, etc.

But what about Doing The Right Thing? What about being ethical, lawful, good? What about letting justice, and not history, judge those who break the law?

I feel like Captain America sometimes; not able to compromise on certain issues, and stubbornly planting my feet in the ground. No! YOU move!

    • Treant

Not to put too fine a point on it, but whenever American politicians have an option, they always head right for Lawful Evil rather than Lawful (and) Good.

Dumpy’s main problem is that he’s Chaotic Evil and worrying the hell out of the other politicians, who like things orderly.

    • SoCalGal20

In her position as House Minority Leader I can see why she’s holding back right now. She needs to wait until Mueller charges Trump with something or at least lays out the case of what he knew, what he allowed, and what he did. I mean, we all know there’s a slam dunk obstruction case there but knowing it and having it laid out legally are two different things.

Also, while it’s somethimg we care about (and more Americans should), most people have higher priorities like healthcare, better paying jobs, etc.

Now if Mueller presents a slam dunk case and then she’s all “Eh, no” and Trump refuses to resign, THEN it will be an issue for me.

      • liondon#iamnotatraitor

The drip drip of bad news… agree.

    • JWC

I can see what you are saying but with the weakest agreement They really haven’t got Trump yet . Oh I know and applaud that its getting close All the houses around Trump are starting to burnning but don’t move to fast and let the asshole escape

  • Blake J Butler
  • Friday’s_cat

How much does the RNC pay Pelosi to say this stuff?
She did it in 2007 when as newly elected Speaker of the House she spit in the eyes of the volunteers and voters that gave Democrats the majority with her, “Impeachment is off the table”.
If in spite of Democrats snatching defeat from the jaws of victory they win the House back Pelosi better not be in any position or authority.

  • gaycuckhubby

I agree. Impeach only when you have a chance of winning. We dont. Yet.

    • Friday’s_cat

Impeachment can be a tool to expose what the print and broadcast news media won’t because they don’t want to lose corporate sponsors.

      • fuzzybits

        The benjamins.

      • gaycuckhubby

Actually a failed impeachment attempt empowers POTUS and makes us look like we dont have an actual case

        • Friday’s_cat

It worked for the republicans in 2000.

          • JCF

No, the Thugs impeachment attempt empowered Dems in 1998. 2000 was a different case (difficult to win a “third term”, Gore’s distancing from Clinton, plus the economy was headed Down)

    • I love dim sum

I actually would have felt worse if Hillary had won.

This past year has actually been pretty decent for me…..and my stocks and 401k.

      • another_steve

If you’re LGBT, my friend, and if the Bannon wing of the Republican Party ultimately prevails, you and I will be adding up the values of our stocks and 401Ks all the way to the gas chamber.

        • I love dim sum

I am gay, and I take all this ‘Trump is gonna start a LGBT pogrom/holocaust’ scaremongering about as seriously as I do the ‘Russians are hiding under your beds’ conspiracy theory Alex Jones….oops I mean Rachel Maddow is BSing her viewers into believing as a cynical attempt for higher ratings.

          • another_steve

Note that I specifically said “if the Bannon wing of the Republican Party ultimately prevails.”

Donald Trump stands for nothing. He’s amoral. Not “immoral,” amoral. Without morals.

Bannon and Co. do stand for something, however.

            Do you deny that?

          • I love dim sum

Bannon doesn’t stand for anything either. He’s a buffoon just like Trump, that won’t accomplish anything.

Hillary supporters use hyperbolic scaremongering tactics like this because they are unable to offer up a logical cogent argument.

          • another_steve

Have you ever read Breitbart? If so, how could you possibly say Bannon doesn’t stand for anything.

Bannon is the pus at the head of the blackhead that resided on our faces when you and I were young teenagers.

          • 2guysnamedjoe

It’s a bot, hon. (That’s short for robot). Ask it to prove itself by multiplying 9 by 6. Its reply, if any, will be a divisive, quasi-Bernie-ish rant.

            Lol. Whatever, Joe. Thanks. 😉

Whatever it/he/she is, if it doesn’t engage in ad hominem with me, I’ll engage it.

I totally respect the right of people who are 180 degrees opposed to my way of thinking to speak – provided they don’t incite violence.

To my way of thinking, such people are not “trolls.”

Couldn’t she just have said that we will have to see what comes from the investigations.

    • JCF

That would be seen as a non-denial. She HAS TO say “not a priority” (note, it’s still not as definitive as she said re Dubya)

If the evidence gets anywhere NEAR the Nixon level, WHEN she is Speaker (not before!), I have no doubt she’ll do the right thing.

  • I love dim sum

I hope all of you Pelosi supporters realize that under her watch, the DNC has lost over a thousand elections. The DNC would rather lose, than support any progressive causes.

  • Xiao Ai: The Social Gadfly

    Plastic surgery appears to be.

  • safari

Nancy: What exactly are democratic priorities? None of them get stuck in the news.

    • I love dim sum

Her priorities are whatever her donors tell her to do.

  • Rocco

I must say I admire the restraint and discipline (sorry…lol) shown here by the home folks toward the new troll who has recently appeared on our shores. Very impressive.

    • I love dim sum

Oh, is there a new Correct the Record/Verrit talking point spouting Hillary troll on here? Hard to keep track of sometimes.

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

Yes, it was easy enough to find out it’s actually posting from an IP in Macedonia. Further, this is believed the 3rd incarnation, this one having created it’s account only this past September. Pay it no mind. Like most creatures of its ilk, it has nothing of value to offer …best to merely do what most sensible people do, ignore it or block it.

      • I love dim sum

LOL, Macedonia is in Europe, its not in Russia…..sounds like someone needs a geography lesson.

        • McSwagg

It’s the Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia (FYROM) which means it was a Soviet client state and still is a Russian proxy state. Sounds like someone needs a history lesson.

Sum Dim is an appropriate account name for you.

          • I love dim sum

Uh, it sounds like you need a history lesson. News flash, the Cold War ended 30 years ago, your Russia scaremongering makes you look like you are a looney tune 1950s Republican.

          • McSwagg

You need to keep up. Putin is still waging the cold war against America. It seems the loyal KGB operative that he is, he blames us for the downfall of the USSR. I would think a Russky bot troll would at least know that much. Now run along and quit bothering us with your willful ignorance and sad conspiracies.

          • I love dim sum

Again, you sound like a Republican from the 1950s scared that Russians are hiding under your bed. And how can I be a Russian bot, when I voted Green Party last year, and am going to do the same thing next year and in 2020? Russians can’t vote in US elections, silly.

What other Correct the Record/Peter Daou talking points are you going to parrot?

          • McSwagg

What is your obsession with the 1950’s. That’s nearly two generations ago. You are “sum” kinda “dim”.

      • Rocco

Thanks for the words of wisdom (& information). The older I get, the easier it is to ignore, but it is is still difficult!

  • j.martindale

Now may not be the time to talk about it. Let the Mueller investigation proceed. But I do NOT want a replay of her saying, as she did after the W administration, that prosecution is off the table. The US had an obligation to prosecute the people responsible for war crimes–torture. It did not. That is morally reprehensible to me. And failing to prosecute those who are guilty of Conspiracy against the United States would be equally reprehensible. If this is a dodge to keep her powder dry, fine. Beyond that, “Lock them up!”

  • Robert K Wright

If we do well in 2018 and can manage to get the numbers in the House to stop it, then we should stick to Trump, we can keep them from doing more damage by keeping him. Pence seems reasonable to them compared to Trump. And that’s far more dangerous. Besides, I think he’d embrace the Democrats if we gained the majority. He’s all about him, not the Republican Party.

    • I love dim sum

The DNC is probably going to do even worse next year than they did in 2016…..simply because they have absolutely nothing to offer.

‘Stop Trump’ isn’t going to cut it.

      • Robert K Wright

Aww, how sweet. You’re following me from thread to thread. Too bad you’re still ignorant.

        • JWC

I just blocked him or her or what

          • I love dim sum

            Because you know I’m right.

That’s what Hillary supporters do, they try to shut down and censor any type of dissent. Very Republican really.

          • Robert K Wright

Bitch, nobody has “shut you down”. We just disagree. You need to know the difference. When your arguments are ignorant, people will disagree. Do you know what day it was yesterday? Lol

          • Robert K Wright

Him or Her or They. “What” is not an acceptable reference.

          • 2guysnamedjoe

It seems programmed to only reply to you.

          • JWC

They may be correct but to some people “WHAT” is applicable

          • JWC

OMG are you another AR word sherriff

        • 2guysnamedjoe

I think your groupie is an automaton. As a test, try asking it what day yesterday was.

          • Robert K Wright

I did below, so we will see. Lol. I don’t know who’s a troll and who isn’t. I only know the troll rhetoric about Uranium One they posted on another thread. I’m being called a troll as well by someone because I don’t have a million comments, but hey, at least my history is open and they can see where else I’ve commented. Some people who others “trust” block their history, so how can they trust them? I used to post under Robrexus, but that info got hacked so,I signed up under my full name but because I don’t comment as often as others people scream troll…or they scream troll when they don’t like tour opinion….lol… I really should be out at our Pride events, but I’m sitting home instead. Too crowded, best turn out in years. Was best though when Joe was the Grand Marshall. (Palm Springs).

  • olandp

Because that worked out so well with GW. The only things the Republicans learned was that the Democrats are too weak to fight back and they can do anything they like.

  • GlennF

I’ve always been a defender of Pelosi against those who say we need a new Dem leader in the house, but after reading her statements of being against impeaching the shitgibbon, maybe it actually IS high time she give up the leadership position in favor of a younger more effective and more in touch progressive Dem leader ahead of the crucial 2018 midterm elections.

    • I love dim sum

why are you defending someone who has over 100 million in assets, and her only priority is to make more money? That’s all Pelosi cares about, is accumulating money.

    • canoebum

Yeah, like someone who’s capable of going for the jugular. The treasonous prick is a clear and present danger to all our lives. Any talk of putting impeachment on the back burner is just crazy.

  • Tomcat

Beware the people trying to tear our party apart with information.
Do your homework before believing anything.

    • Taylor Bixler

LOL. These are Pelosi’s own words. She has been saying this for months now.
Now I happen to think Pence would be even worse than Trump, but nobody is putting these words in Pelosi’s mouth.

  • OdieDenCO

oh hell no! donny is to unfit, unqualified, unhinged and uncouth to be president of These United States!

    addendum: , unAmerican!

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

Forgive me Madam Pelosi, but I must insist that you are incorrect on this issue. The impeachment of Donald Trump should indeed be foremost on the Democrat agenda, as should the impeachment of Mike Pence and several of the inner circle, including: Kellyanne Conway, both Millers (Jason & Steve), Jared Kushner, Bannon and several others. Like the French during the revolution, you should be publicly dealing to them so as to serve as a reminder to those who would presume themselves to power and treason.

    • JWC

Rather than repeat multiple actions of impeachment over alonger time period I would suggest criminal procedings Yes it might take longer but it gets them all in one net

    • And you understand that the issue will not even come up for a vote if the Democrats do not control the House of Representatives – unless the Republicans agree? Literally. It will go nowhere. Every single Democratic member can demand a vote — but unless the Speaker agrees to it, it cannot even go to a committee.

      • JackNasty

You do understand that voters in 2018 are not going vote for Do-Nothing Democrats like Nancy Pelosi to assume the majority leadership in the House.

  • FelineMama

She sang the same song about “W”. Remember? What is she so afraid of? Seriously?! A Dem leader??? I don’t think so. Nancy, we’d like to have some answers.

    • Mike Rasor

In many ways it’s just political realism. Without 66 votes to convict in the Senate, an impeachment proceeding won’t remove him from office and it spends a lot of political capital. There are more effective ways to use the House to undermine and check Trump.

  • Mark_in_MN

What the heck is wrong with her? If anyone deserves to be impeached and removed from office, in addition to Nixon, it is the clown currently in the office of the president.

    • Tomcat

To tell the truth no one should be in a big hurry to have Pence for President, except republicans.

  • Cuberly Deux

I agree, let the investigations run their course. Try to take down as many Donnie connected crooks as possible.

  • Blackfork

Bitch has lost her fucking mind. If we don’t rid ourselves of this president he’s gonna get a lot of people killed.

  • narutomania

What Pelosi is saying is: stop talking about Impeachment and What Dems Are Going To Do Next.

Just go about your business of investigating and gathering evidence and then let the criminals be indicted when it all falls into place.

    • 2guysnamedjoe

      I favor a two-pronged approach;
      1. ITMFA. A successful impeachment an ouster from office will live on in the history books (and maybe even those in Texas).
      2. Prosecute his collaborators, especially those in the line of succession, so there will be no one left to carry on the criminal enterprise.

      • narutomania

        I support you there, 2guysnamedjoe.

I just want to keep it under wraps until we can SPRING it on ’em with them knowing we’re coming for ’em.

  • Grant

Oh no. Not this. Not AGAIN. This was the same conciliatory bullshit that she pulled after Democrats took the House in 2006 about not impeaching Bush and Cheney for their war crimes. These days, with a White House full of Nazis, is NOT the time to be magnanimous. Democrats need to realize that the rules of D.C. have been changed. We play by them, or we lose. Forever.

  • Gerry Fisher

Hey, Nancy, enough with what you won’t do. (I happen to agree with you.) How about a strategy for the Democratic Party? Been working on that at all, Ms. Leader?

  • Dan Ryan

Nancy Pelosi is the most, useless, loser liberal we could find. They wonder why the democrats fuck up everything and lose? Look to Pelosi. Her brand expired long ago. Retire you old hag.

  • lucadrian

Why is this woman still relevant!?

    • leastyebejudged

Somebody has to take legal recreational marijuana and make sure it’s taxed so high as to make absolutely certain the black market in California will fucking THRIVE.

California Democrats are all the same.

We’ve got the Patriot Act and an endless stream of tyrannical bullshit she and her buddies helped pass, fuck here and fuck the DNC for selling us all down the river.

  • romanhans

Am I an idiot? We have a dangerous, incompetent man running our country. To me that means GET HIM OUT. I’m not going to stop and think about the 2030 elections or Mike Pence. If Mike Pence is a lousy president, we get rid of him too.

I realize it’s smart to think strategically. I guess I’m thinking country over party. We’re all saying the Republicans should do that … but we won’t?

  • stanhope

It is long past time for this dried up old hen to go and she can take tom perez with her tired ass. New blood is needed…REAL new blood.

  • stanhope

Donna Brazziere oops Brazile for president! And Maxine Waters for vice…then we immediately get rid of the 32% problem and mexico picks up some population. Justin doesn’t want them. LOL

  • Dagoril

One wonders what Drumpf would have to do, for Nancy to think impeachment a priority.

    • Johnny Wyeknot

Feed Pence some poison chocolate cake.

  • Tempus Fuggit
  • fahvel

hey pelosi, if you have a really bad disease and you are suffering, do you sa, “let it run its course and hopefully I won’t die” or do you say, “take me to the doctor and give me what will destroy my maladie”? This attitude is a small but major piece of the usa’s crumble.

    • Ann Kah

Well, yes ….but I think she is rightly concerned about Pence, as am I. No need to rush from the frying pan into the fire. Manafort’s hand-picked VP, although better behaved on the surface, is not likely to be an improvement over the Orange Vulgarian.

      • Damn but how right you are! If pence had his way, We would all be rounded up, fired, evicted and become illegal just by breathing.

  • Galvestonian

I don’t know about that – I certainly think it should be a priority as long as it includes ALL Republicans and the permanent abolishment of the Republican Party … every damn one of those bastards.

  • FelineMama

Well, EXXCCUUUSE Me, ms. P. What was “Draining the Swamp” mean to you?! Not only did the swamp NOT drain, IT replicated with CROOKED ‘swampites,’ infitrating the WH with corruption, graft, incompetence & treason. I think We the People had different IDEAS!! Hmmm!!!

  • The Pelosi train has jumped the track. I know she is trying to be all middle of the road and all, but she needs to plug into the rabid hatred of trump across the country, especially among people who vote DNC.

  • JCF

Before everyone sets their hair on fire: she CANNOT say “We’re Going to Impeach the Bastard, First Chance We Get!”

Even if that IS her priority. She can’t say so! Just accept that…

And work to turn Congress BLUE!!!

    House: dccc.org
    Senate: dscc.org

    • MichaelJ

Don’t give $ to these groups. Support Democratic candidates you like, not the ones that the DC-based establishment thinks are “safe.”

  • greenmanTN

Saying “You bet your ass we’re gonna impeach him” would only make herself and the Dems more a target for trolls than they already are and be a distraction to the investigation at hand. At least I hope that’s the thinking because if she means it she’s fucked in the head.

  • Kurt

If a foreign power has dirt on him, then he’s a threat to national security. He needs to be impeached, and Pelosi is wrong.

    • But do you understand that it is Paul Ryan who decides this? And that impeachment just sends a trial to the Republican controlled Senate? Impeachment cannot even be discussed by the House unless the Speaker and Majority Party (the Republicans) agree to it — and by itself does not remove anyone.

  • ajchar

If the Dems win back the House then the priority is INVESTIGATIONS. Passing impeachment in the House would just mean that it dies in the Senate. Do you think 20 or so Rethug Senators will vote to Impeach Trump? Ever? I don’t. This isn’t the 70s, the Rethug Senators are almost all fawning toadies who won’t vote against their party.

Run the election as anti-Trump and pro healthcare, SS, and anti- all the other crap the Rethugs are doing. Plus keep an eye on developments in the Mueller investigation.

  • andrew

    Nancy is correct.

  • leastyebejudged

I love how politicians are all eager to protect each other from their criminal activities, it’s why nobody trusts the system or politics anymore.

You’re wrong, again, Nancy, and you should have stepped-down a LONG time ago.

  • No More GOP.

And exactly what *should* be the priority, Mrs. Pelosi? Seriously, step down, ma’am. You need to let someone else take the reins.

  • Franciscan

The priority should be, first of all, to tell Americans that Trump’s appointees are demolishing the environment, the commons, consumer rights, labor rights, and public education, and work to expose and oppose these actions. If this ends up underminingTrump, so much the better.

  • Franciscan

If impeachment is warranted, how much more so in the case of Reagan, Bush sr., and Bush jr., whose actions among other things killed thousands of people, attempted to overthrow governments, engaged in foreign wars to the benefit of themselves and their Arab business associates. And the Democrats weren’t willing to call for impeachment then, either. Probably afraid what else might turn up.

    • I read this. Many feel that a “political” impeachment, defined as a one party impeachment, will be punished by the American public at the voting booth. The impeachment of Bill Clinton was a political (one party) impeachment — and the Republicans paid for it in the 1998 congressional elections. Newt Gingrich lost his postion as Speaker that year. The American public will only support a bipartisan impeachment — like Nixon was threatened with — when it comes to Presidents. When it came to Reagan, Bush, and now Trump, both parties need to call for impeachment and removal from office before it can happen and for the American public to be comfortable with it since it is such a radical remedy.

Because the Dems are weak bastards!

    • If they are weak then how come they have managed to keep the ACA Obamacare and have blocked Trump and the Republicans on just everything so far except for the Gorsuch confirmation? I think Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have played the part of opposition leaders quite well.

      • DevineBovine

You can thank defecting Republican opposition to Trump’s health care plan as the reason why the ACA is still alive.

      • SDG

Look who’s in office! That’s your answer.

  • Mark

Fuck you Pelosi! The country NEEDS to get him and the entire batch OUT of the WH and government.

  • I look at this as a chicken and egg thing. There is no way a Republican controlled House of Representatives is going to impeach Donald Trump. He will resign first. The Democrats need to win control of the House of the Representatives to impeach Trump. But I do not that making impeachment and Russiagate our two main issues right now makes sense. Making issues that directly impact the lives of people, such as that horrible Republican tax plan, Trumpcare, the self-serving plutocracy — is what Democrats should be focused on right now. Let the Mueller investigation run its course. It is too early to jump up and down screaming for impeachment – I think Nancy is right. We need more evidence. And there are other things that need to be blocked and influenced.

  • One thing that I find ironic here is that two younger (and supposedly more virile) Congressmen mentioned as Pelosi replacements — handsome Seth Moulton from Massachusetts and hunky Tim Ryan from Ohio (who despises Pelosi) — are both considered “centrist” and not leftist Democrats. In fact, if the Democrats do not win control of Congress in 2018, it is pretty much a given that a leadership battle is breaking out. And Tim Ryan, in particular, has railed against Pelosi being too left and too “San Francisco” in orientation (do I have to spell it out?) — a hindrance as many see it in winning back Democrats in what are considered “swing” districts. So in other words, for anyone who thinks that Pelosi is considered too “right wing” by most of your fellow Democrats — guess again.

Give it up Nancy, you’ve run out the clock trying to play nice. It’s long since past the time to start playing hard ball. !!!

  • JackNasty

    Nancy Pelosi needs to go.

  • It’s infuriating to hear, when we already know that Clinton was impeached for so, so much less. But unsurprising, given that she never went after George W. (who we may, incredibly, now long for) when she had the chance. But it also could be misdirection. It may be politically foolish for her to declare that impeachment is ON the table, before an election when the right has time to shore up their base to prevent it.

  • don

Because not impeaching the (R) psychopath in the WH worked out SO well last time, you mendacious, simpering TWIT.

    Until Dems grow a spine…

  • joe ho

Diane Feinstein’s playing the same conciliatory game. She said she still hopes Trump can be a good president and refuses to call Session’s lying perjury.

  • David

Of course not Nancy, you’re fundraising the hell off of this shit show.

You’ve served admirably and we thank you, but it’s time to go.

  • Kevin Andrews

There you have it in a nutshell; Pelosi and the Republican lite of the Corporate Democrat Fascists is on open display. These freaks are nothing more than controlled opposition without a spine or moral compass.

hey, hey, no on on this blog cares if hillary is a hoor for corporate donors

Harping on impeachment is not going to win many votes from independents and disaffected democrats (especially if they voted for Trump out of some kind of protest). Those voters don’t believe in anything unless it’s blowing out of their own ass in flames. So Trumps treason, unless it ends Football, NASAR, or beer delivery is irrelevant to them,

  • ECarpenter

Committing the high crimes and misdemeanors which make a president eligible for impeachment is bad enough – when legislators decide to let him get away with them and continue to be President, they are also guilty of a high crime.

When the legistative branch Ignores a President’s criminal behavior, the basis of our checks and balances between branches of government is seriously damaged. It sets a terrible precedent.

I despise Pense, he’s as bad as Trump, but if Trump is proven to have known about the Russia collusion, Trump has to go. .

  • jerrydoubleu .

still think corporate-backed dems are on your side?

  • wds

What she’s saying isn’t what a lot of people want to hear, but I actually agree with her – 2018 IS what we should be concentrating on, especially to make sure that the Republicans hang themselves with Trump … if we get into the impeachment battle right now – everyone will be involved with that mess and not much else … after 2018 – you bet baby, put his ass in the fire along with Pence…

  • willward

All this impeachment talk is just talk. It will never happen unless Dems take over both houses. That’s where we should be spending our money and energy, not on non-realizable dream. Impeachment is a political act, not a justice system procedure. Pelosi is right, even though her reputation has become so negative through constant criticism (i.e., Hillary Clinton).
