Carter Page Testifies He Told Sessions About Russia Trip

CNN reports:

Former Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page privately testified Thursday that he mentioned to Jeff Sessions he was traveling to Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign — as new questions emerge about the attorney general’s comments to Congress about Russia and the Trump campaign.

During more than six hours of closed-door testimony, Page said that he informed Sessions about his coming July 2016 trip to Russia, which Page told CNN was unconnected to his campaign role. Page described the conversation to CNN after he finished talking to the House intelligence committee.

Sessions’ discussion with Page will fuel further scrutiny about what the attorney general knew about connections between the Trump campaign and Russia — and communications about Russia that he did not disclose despite a persistent line of questioning in three separate hearings this year.

Page’s testimony was one of the more highly anticipated events in the congressional Russia investigations, given the scrutiny he’s faced because of his connections to Russia and his visible role pushing back about his Russia ties in nationally televised interviews.

    “I don’t remember,” Sessions replied.

“We’re done here,” Gowdy exclaimed, closing the case.

O/T: I can’t tell if Chuck Schumer’s treatment of the GOP I like or hate. When TrumpCare failed, he cut off all applause by his caucus immediately with a look of stern anger. Just now on Rachael he doesn’t discuss the GOP tax plan but the “radical right” tax plan before Congress. I understand the need to reach across the aisle, but the current GOP leadership (and especially Donald) have no such concept of treating the opposition as a future partner.

    • Lazycrockett

The Senate thing was to show respect in the chamber and not cause any lasting bitterness. Remember Schumer knew that McCain was voting no.

      • safari

I understand. I just can’t see Mitch doing anything similar.

        • He actually has the tea party right up his Kentucky butt right now — Bannon hates him. Believe it or not, he is the leading “country club” Republican —- of the business set. The “nationalist – alt right set” despises him. He sets the agenda in the Senate. If he wants to take on Trump he will — by deciding what gets voted on and when. He is considered extremely effective as a majority leader btw — he is feared actually by Democrats for being so tough and pushing rules to the brink. The way he almost overturned the ACA at the last minute, frankly, was masterful — no one saw it coming and it almost worked.

They’ve gotten so used to the idea that America is Great that they’ve lost track of the things that allow it to be as good as it can be and don’t recognize how much things like stacking the courts or manipulating Facebook or simply lying from the White House Press podium daily undercut any chance we have to stay that way.

Apparently not so if you are a Twitter employee with sufficient acc’t admin privileges.

Don’t mean to terrify y’all, but what if this employee instead of just deleting the account instead announced on @realDonaldJTrump that the US had just launched nuclear missiles at North Korea.

I am now convinced no high-level gov’t official should be allowed on any public social media platform, not in any kind of official capacity. It’s one thing if the WH Press Office wants to issue announcements, but something else entirely when Twitter is considered the literal online voice of someone who can kill us all with the wrong words.

      • JaniceInToronto

Holy crap. You’re right. Rip the twitter and facebook accounts away from any and all politicians. We have the press, and most of it is pretty much OK.

Frightening to think a disgruntled employee could launch WW3, but completely believable. I’m glad I left Toronto and moved 500 miles north. It’s safer here. We have rocks, trees, lakes and snow. Better than being on ground zero.

      • Chris Baker

Excellent point. I think a POTUS twitter account is fine, if it’s for PR and handled by the communications team, but we all know that Trump has a history of issuing policy via Twitter, etc. So an announcement of WW3 via Twitter is something that Trump might actually do.–and no one would know if it’s real or hacked.

    • Mark McGovern

LOL what’s to review if it was done by a Twitter customer support employee on his last day? How many different ways they can re-phrase it?

Sadly, I can see the scenario where that happens, and then the GOP runs in 2020 on the fact that the Democrats have control of Congress and look at the mess we’re in!

        • Chris Baker

The Ds are not even in power and Trump is blaming them (not passing healthcare reform, etc.). I agree that R’s best change is to lose the midterms, blame Ds for the next two years and then hopefully all the failing will cause Trump to not run again.

    • If so, we can forget about any future Dem presidents because the Republican party is set to begin gerrymandering the Electoral College, starting with Virginia. Every single GOP-locked state that usually votes for Dem Prez candidates will have their votes divided.

      • Leo

“Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, traditionally a group reserved only for Democrats, are weighing whether to allow Republican members to join, and the talks are growing increasingly heated.

A tense meeting in which one prospective Republican member allegedly accused the caucus’ chairwoman of being insufficiently Hispanic may have derailed the former’s chances, two members of the CHC told BuzzFeed News Thursday night.

Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham told members about the interaction with Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo, one of the Republicans hoping to join the caucus, at a caucus meeting earlier Thursday, the sources said. In addition to comments about her Hispanic credentials, Lujan Grisham told CHC members that Curbelo invaded her personal space, according to the two members, who spoke on background because of the sensitivity of the issue.

O/T I watched the most recent PBS Finding Your Roots episode; all three had at least one parent who was an immigrant. They waxed poetic about the opportunities that America holds out to poor immigrants from other countries, etc. They all spoke in the present tense, not acknowledging that Trump has completely destroyed that narrative – immigrants are murderers and rapists and terrorists and not a single one should be allowed into the country except to clean toilets at Trump hotels and resorts.

This headline from yesterday reinforces Trump’s antipathy to foreigners:

    https://skift.com/2017/11/01/marriott-ceo-trump-is-driving-conference-business-out-of-u-s-to-canada/

    • JackNasty

I’m attending a conference in Vancouver, B.C. next week.

  • Paula
    • Treant

That’s way nicer than my junior year single room.

    • Sam_Handwich

designed by a sadist with a keen aesthetic sense, like a church from the 60’s

    • teeveedub

In Manhattan, that would go for about $4K per month.

    • JCF

At the end of that docudrama on Ted Kaczynski, they showed him (mountain man from Montana) taking one last loving look at the Colorado Rocky Mountains…

…and then disappearing into the belly of Florence. To NEVER see mountains—or oceans, or forests, or cities, or ANYTHING—again. That would be a living death for me, definitely.

  • Sam_Handwich

these Febreze commercials really annoy me.

“I LOVE you, toilet, even though you stink!”

    just scrub the damn thing!

    • fuzzybits

You can always buy some poo.pouri.

      • Treant

Don’t laugh, somebody bought my husband that at an office Christmas party. It really does work, but you could just spray the cheapest corn oil for about a tenth the price. It would work as well; the oil just makes a barrier between the air and your Devil’s Donuts. As she says.

      • FAEN

That just makes it worse IMO.

    • Treant

Did you ever see the ingredients list?

Yeah, that’s why I make my own air freshener. And also scrub the bathroom occasionally.

  • gaycuckhubby

    OT…
And… Bryan Singer deletes his Twitter account

    • Sam_Handwich

      wait, who?

      • gaycuckhubby

Director of the X Men franchise. Long been accused (known?) to drug and abuse underage actors

        • Lazycrockett

they didn’t have to be actors, just boys.

          • gaycuckhubby

            True

      • Cuberly Deux

Director of some of the X-Men movies, he’s the one that I’ve heard the WORST shit about.

        https://jezebel.com/an-open-secret-hollywoods-child-abuse-doc-debuted-in-1705758939

“But consider the company Singer has kept. Consider the fact that he enlisted his buddy Brian Peck to record the commentary for the first X-Men. In 2003, Peck was arrested for lewd acts with a child. He pled guilty to two. He is a registered sex offender.”

    • Lazycrockett

      pity.

    • Ninja0980

      You know he’s next…

    • Cuberly Deux

Is it weird I’ve never heard about Spacey being a pedo, but I’ve heard a fair amt of gossipy stuff that Singer is an asshole and a nasty horndog?

  • Blake J Butler

Who the fuck is running this shit to begin with ?

Even Dean says this is bullshit. They never even formally endorsed Northam to begin with.

    https://twitter.com/GovHowardDean/status/926255630532382721

  • fuzzybits
    • Todd Allis

      Wow!

    • Bad Tom

You could probably pose me in odd ways when I’m deeply asleep.
      ——-
Maybe it’s just as well that the cats can’t post on Youtube.

  • Treant

OT: More of The End. Sort of; it’s November second and some ageratum are still up. I’ll pull in the glass and pottery shortly. All three ageratum are volunteers, and even the Easter Egg plant in the pot is still alive, if really frowsy and getting very, very old.

Please note that the lilac hasn’t even browned out yet and the grass still looks like September…

    • Sam_Handwich

so weird this year. Halloween was just perfect. Boston could get close to a record high tomorrow.

      • fuzzybits

We’re supposed to hit 70 this weekend.

        • Sam_Handwich

i find myself lulled into appreciating it rather than freaking out

          boiled frogs!

          • fuzzybits

Yea,me too. I think about winter coming and have to get myself prepared.

      • Treant

Ditto here. A nice 73 and humid tomorrow. Le sigh.

    • fuzzybits

I thought I was done mowing, but mowed on Mon.

      • Treant

This evening for me. And a bit left for tomorrow evening.

      • Lazycrockett

I have a lone rose bud getting ready to bloom.

        • Treant

Thanks for the reminder, I should photograph the roses tomorrow if I’m home early enough.

        • JCF

Even here in Sacramento, I think my roses are done.

  • Mike Rasor

So the “Beverly Leslie” of the administration is getting sucked into the investigation, bwahahaha.

  • Lars Littlefield

“I recant. I did have sex with that Keebler Cookie Elf.”

  • Mike Rasor

I’m putting it out there officially to JMG readers. Can we all just start referring to Sessions as Beverly Leslie?

    • Treant

I’d really rather not. Leslie Jordan seems like a really nice guy who would never pull the shit Sessions does, and he doesn’t deserve to be associated with an ass like Sessions.

      • Mike Rasor

Yeah but Beverly Leslie is not a nice character and it would make Sessions head explode. I love Leslie Jordan, but I think he would probably revel in the fact he made sessions lose his fucking mind.

      • M Jackson

        Bless his pea-pickin’ h$art.

    • Sam_Handwich
      • Mike Rasor

I got Sam Handwich’s approval, I take this as a sign form the deity I’m not sure exists to move forward with this plan.

  • William

How many times was Carter Page kicked in the head by a mule?

  • FAEN

But her emails 🙄! So glad we didn’t get a competent leader. Not sure what we would have done.

  • I love dim sum

I’m not sure what this really accomplishes, since Hillary was paying Russia to dig up dirt on Trump as well.

    • Sam_Handwich

you’re a special kind of stupid

    • Max_1

You’re only right because you suck Sean Hannity’s dick…

      • I love dim sum

Try a different insult, I think Fox News is utter garbage. I’m progressive politically.

        • Max_1

Yet you echo Trump/GOP… Go figure…

          • stevenj

He or she or it is a Stein troll obsessed with Hillary.

          • I love dim sum

I voted for Stein, so i guess that makes you a Hillary troll.

          • stevenj

Just pointing out the facts. Asshole.

          • I love dim sum

I’m going to continue voting Green Party or Socialist, thanks to neoliberal Hillary trolls like you.

          • stevenj
          • I love dim sum

Spray it on yourself, Hillary troll.

          • stevenj

You are soooo progressive you come on here and parrot trump and the right wingers. Got it.

          • I love dim sum

I’m just quoting what Hillary said in her own words, in the Politico article…..which is not a right wing news site.

And all you do is parrot Correct the Record talking points, which makes you a neoliberal troll.

          • Max_1

            So Putin’s dick… Not Hannity’s. My bad… LOL!

          • I love dim sum

Sorry, I don’t buy all this Red Scare nonsense that the Hillary trolls are trying to peddle.

Newsflash, the Cold War ended a long time ago. Blaming Putin for the worlds evils makes you look like a crazy McCarthyist Republican from the 1950s.

          • I love dim sum

LOL, no, what I am saying has nothing to do with the GOP, since I am more on the left.

  • OMG. Okay, a lighter moment about the fact Donald had his Twitter acc’t deleted earlier today (and the grave NatSec implications of a mere Twitter employee having that kind of power).

    Take a look at this:

The Daily show is a must see tonight just to watch Al Fraken take down Facebook and Twitter during the congress meeting.

  • Rob NYNY

What is that scar around his neck? Some kind of surgery? Was his head sewn back on? Botched hanging?

    • JCF

Where they attached the “Do Not Use” head?

      ;-p~~~~

      It’s probably just a wrinkle.

    • Really bad autoerotic asphyxiation habit, my guess.

      • Rob NYNY

I grew up on farms in the Midwest, and failed autoerotic asphyxiation was a thing for a lot of lonely farmers.

        • JCF

My ex used to be a college chaplain. Egads, one student after finals… 🙁

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

Looks like the dork was the victim of an incompetent circumcision doctor.
This is one of the worst cases of malpractice I’ve ever seen.

      • Rob NYNY

        Mohel.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

He’s sloppy about putting on his human skin suit?

    • Max_1

Lying takes a toll on the skin… Stress marks.

The days of the week go

    Manafort Monday
    Treason Tuesday
    White House Wednesday
    Twitter crash Thursday
    Flynn Friday
    Son-in-Law Saturday
    Sessions Sunday

    • Lazycrockett

Thank god hes off to Asia for a week and some days.

      • houstonray

And you just KNOW he’s going to embarrass us somehow. Chopsticks up his nose. He’s going to bow or something when he’s not supposed to and screw things up. Ask for catsup on his duck. Say he doesn’t like sushi because he doesn’t eat “bait”, etc. I’m just waiting for those moments…

        • Snarkaholic

I’m anticipating at least one slitty-eyes “joke.”

      • Max_1

Too bad we can’t send him to Russia and bar him from re-entry…

  • Cuberly Deux

Dayum….did I make a great quiche last night. I’m not a chef, and yet, I’m patting myself on the back. The leftovers today were awesome.

    • greenmanTN

A good quiche is a thing of beauty.

      • Cuberly Deux

Indeed, it’s one of those things that when you get some basic technique down, you can add a heck of a lot of interesting things to it.

        It’s so easy.

      • JCF

Damn, it’s been too long since I made one (I used to make a couple to eat after the Great Vigil of Easter—late Saturday night—every year. A reward for hungry Episcopalians, after this long service. Inevitably served w/ champagne, and sweets. Bye-bye Lent!)

    • Robincho

Real men not only eat quiche, they MAKE it!…

    • Max_1

If it had bacon in it I do not want to know…
… I kill for bacon in quiche.

I prefer my Cuberly’s alive, thank you very much.

      • Lazycrockett

When I make a quiche I substitute sausage instead of bacon and as always quiche is much better the 2nd or 3rd day.

      • greenmanTN

My favorite combo is bacon, leek, and spinach

        • JCF

Bacon, onion and mushrooms is my fave.

  • Robincho

In normal times, Page’s idiocy would stand out. As it is, that idiocy just blends right in…

  • Max_1

    Remember:
Distractions like Donna Brazile, who coached Hillary on debate questions AGAINST Bernie only to now claim Hillary cheated, are put there to distract from Trump’s treason. Now, FOXNews(R) will pick her up and blast their anti-Hillary nonsense and use Brazile as their “example” of what is wrong with Democrats.

Dear Donna, What was in it for you?

    • I love dim sum

She’s not claiming Hillary cheated…..she actually did cheat. There is no ‘claim’.

      • Mike Rasor

no it’s a claim. If you think Donna Brazile is somehow an unbiased arbitrator of truth, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. She clearly has her own agenda.

        • I love dim sum

Wrong, Donna, was fired from CNN because she gave Hillary questions in advance. So you are utterly wrong.

          • Mike Rasor

Which impunes Donna’s credibility you mouth breather

          • I love dim sum

Yes and that just reinforces my point. She was fired for cheating to help Hillary before the debates.

          • Max_1

Again, I find it ironic that Berniecrats and Steinbots are the ones distracting the conversation from one about the National election of our Federal Leadership to one where sore losers are crying loudly… Which problem is more important to fix?

If we fix the imbalances in the DNC and not the National Elections, a foreign adversary is still capable to influence and control through manipulation, the end outcome of any Federal election.

If we fix the National elections by protecting how we elect and campaign, etc. then at least when we get to addressing the DNC, we’ll know that no matter who the DNC chooses that the end result of the National election will be fair and honest.

          • Mike Rasor

Well that would require actual sense and a real desire to see change rather than a desire to simply “be right”

          • I love dim sum

‘a real desire to see change’
Last summer you guys were talking about ‘incrementalism’, now you are talking about change……OK sure whatever you say man.

          • Bryan

Implying of course that the berniebots are people and not…Russian bots.

    • Mike Rasor

Answer: a payday for writing a book. Fuck Donna. She’s simply trying to salvage her earning potential.

      • I love dim sum

Sounds exactly like Hillary and what she did with her absolute garbage book she put out.

        • Mike Rasor

The difference is Hillary isn’t trying to land another gig. Donna clearly needs to be able to blame other people to reclaim her credibility. HRC can have absolutely no shits to give about anyone’s opinion and be just fine.

          • I love dim sum

Hillary is absolutely trying to land another gig. She is so narcissistic that I’m very sure she’s going to run again in 2018.

And she still wants to dominate control of the DNC, so that’s her gig.

          • Mike Rasor

Oh Jesus. Bernie lost get the fuck over it. No one who actually cares about what is happening right now has time for this bullshit. I’m assuming your an actual American but for all I know at this pint your just another Russian troll.

          • I love dim sum

No, you need to get over Hillary being a loser.

I don’t support Bernie at all, I think he is just controlled opposition by the DNC being used to sheepherd people into the party.

If he had any integrity, he would have ran 3rd party after the primaries were rigged last summer. So, I think he’s a creep.

Blah blah blah, Russian troll etc…..I can vote since I’m American.

          • Mike Rasor

Yes because 3rd party is such a way to win. Christ, if you can’t realize this is absolutely about stopping the Republican Party and not about trying to get a candidate you love, I have little hope for America. The reality is the left in this country has an organized force of opposition and any way in which we move the ball down the field is a fucking win.

I’ve lived through two elections where this kind of left purist bullshit has caused this country harm (2000 & 2016). Guess what the response after 2000 was Obama a guy who ran to the right of Clinton. Losing never advances the agenda. The way we make progress is by demonstrating to the right their ideology is shit.

Whatever you want out of the next DNC candidate, you won’t get it. However, it’s more important to back them as the party that can actually win to give the finger to the RNC. That’s how change actually happens; not by pushing the pipe dream of a third party candidate.

          • I love dim sum

Well, I don’t support any of the DNC platform anymore, since they’ve proven themselves to be a clone of the Republican party. I’m absolutely not going to vote for a center right party. “Stopping the Republican party” doesn’t cut it at all.

          • FAEN

            Bill Purdue is that you?

          • FAEN

            LMAO! Bitch please.

      • Bryan

My sentiments exactly – I’ve supported her in the past for she is one of our allies, but she’s betraying the root cause. I don’t wanna be cult-y but for fucks sake, instead of attacking one of the most unquestionably qualified female candidates in history, a fellow ceiling-breaker she should be uniting behind the left and helping us destroy a fascist regime. This is not playtime and This Is Not A Dream. The time for purity contests and pissing matches is peacetime. We are at war now and must stand as one. Our enemy is as ancient as time itself. We fight fascism, we run towards it and destroy it, not turncoat and attack our own. She sold her soul and her honor for coin. May she be karmically rewarded as a traitor deserves.

      • JCF

I really don’t want to believe the worst re Donna: she’s been a loyal soldier for a very long time.

On the other hand, Occam’s Razor…

        • I love dim sum

          ‘loyal soldier’

See, this is why I started voting 3rd party. You Hillary supporters are treating the DNC like its a religious cult.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

      Donna is pimping her book.

    • Lazycrockett

Donna is selling a book and this is what her publishing company is tossing out to give it hype.

In reality both Hillary and Bernie signed the same basic contract/agreement with the DNC. The Hillary campaign was able to us it to their advantage cause they knew how it worked. Now the Bernie Bros are upset cause the man they supported and his team had no idea how to run and fund a campaign. They lost for a reason.

      • Lazycrockett

Oh and Bernie and his bros will lose the next primary because Bernie seems to think that every minority group is outside of the normal white working class and thus should be ignored.

        • If Bernie wants to run so be it. What concerns me is that progressives / Democrats are easily open to outside interference from the right and Russians. Just because someone is not supporting Bernie does not mean that person is automatically a centrist capitalist Goldman Sachs RINO whore pig. Also there are still going to be caucuses in 2020 (Republicans still control state government– and may limit funds for party primaries), and caucuses are not as democratic (small d) as open primaries — I worry about repeats of Nevada (fistfights) in 2020.

          • Lazycrockett

Bern can run all he wants, but the dnc base ie black women will not support him and thus he will not win the nominee. That’s why the Bros constantly drag Kamala.

          • They don’t like Kamala? I was unaware but now it makes sense.

          • Lazycrockett

            Yeah Kamala isn’t pure enough.

          • I love dim sum

I hope she loses, I certainly won’t be voting for her.

          • Lazycrockett

No one here gives a fuck who you would vote for.

          • I love dim sum

Cool beans, because I stopped voting for Democratic candidates last year.

          • Lazycrockett

Congrads you helped fuck up the country.

          • I love dim sum

            Wrong.

You fucked up the country, by supporting a corrupt warmongering candidate, who lost to an utter buffoon.

I made the right choice by voting Green. You didn’t.

          • Lazycrockett

Bernie and Hillary voted yea 99.9% times on the same issues try again. asshole.

          • I love dim sum

I couldnt care less about Bernie, I don’t support him since he tried to sheepherd people into voting for Hillary after the primaries, when he should have sued the DNC for fraud and ran 3rd party.

          • Lazycrockett
          • I love dim sum

Yes, I’m bored of meme posters too, since that’s something on the level of 10 year olds.

          • Lumpy Gaga

Calling people 10 year olds is something 12 year olds do.

          • I love dim sum

Kamala is just another clone of Hillary, you can blame her for Steve Mnuchin since she decided not to prosecute him for subprime loan fraud.

          • I love dim sum

Last time I checked, Nina Turner is neither white nor male, so you can have a seat now.

          • She is into politics? wow! https://youtu.be/smGG7L_JjSM

          • I love dim sum

Nice way to show how uninformed you are, by attempting to crack a slick little joke.

          • Hey we need some good music here. It is a gay blog after all.

          • Lazycrockett

Nina? really? thats the best you got.

            stupid puppet.

          • I think she is a tremendous singer. I always liked her with Ike.

          • I love dim sum

Tulsi Gabbard is also neither white nor male.

            You can have another seat.

        • I love dim sum

Oh yeah, unlike Hillary’s opinion of minorities being ‘superpredators that need to be brought to heel’.

          • Lazycrockett

            troll better.

  • Cuberly Deux

Ok, I just laughed my freakin ass off at the most recent episodes of At Home With Amy Sedaris. Oh My F’n Gawd! The dangers of CRAFTING!

    • fuzzybits

      I love Amy Sedaris.

      • Cuberly Deux

You’d love this, it has a very Strangers With Candy sense of humor.

        The worst crafting dangers:

        1. Sawdust fires.
        2. Pinecone lodged in throat.
        3. Decoupage fatigue blackout.
        4.Snakes.
        5. Dried flower fungal infection.
        6. Seed sensitivity.
        7. Snake.
        8. Hanged from a yarn noose.
        9. Feather asphyxia.
        10. Vaginal bleeding.

        • fuzzybits

Oh yea,I’m watching her new show.

          • Cuberly Deux

Sorry, this has been the giggle fest I’ve been needing.

      “Russia-Not Ally”

You Hillary trolls sound like 1950s Republicans that think the Commies are hiding under your beds. Really on par with Alex Jones.

      • This is the leading LGBT political blog in the USA. We do not like Russia because they are a huge LGBT human rights violator. Here. Take a look. In fact outside of places like Iran and Saudi Arabia, Russia is one of the world’s most repressive anti LGBT regimes. It has nothing to do with Communism, many of us like socialism here. Here is a chart of basic human rights and how Russia is failing to give them to LGBT people. Now do you understand?

You do realize that sanctions and declaring war against Russia would kill millions of LGBT Russians, right?

          • Putting everything else aside, I think Trump right now is a huge threat to world peace, as is the advent of nationalism in Europe and proliferation of nuclear weapons. I think the world is more unsafe than at any point since the 1963 missile crisis. It is a mess.

Reading though dim’s comment history – they may not be an official troll but contribute very little to positive conversation. We all know people like this, never have anything constructive to say and constantly trying to tear down others. And the constant Hillary, Hillary, Hillary is almost deafening. Not sure why this individual even bothers visiting JMG – it would appear that they don’t like the community here very much. I must conclude that this person has some major unresolved issues and trolling JMG makes them feel better about themselves. Superiority complex is my guess, self confident individuals don’t speak so negatively all the time.

Elizabeth Warren admitted tonight on CNN that the DNC rigged the primaries.

So you Hillary supporters can throw her under the bus along with Donna Brazille too.

    • Oh man, what are you like when you take your mood medication? Do you ever have pleasant moments or are you a 24 x 7 megabitch?

      • I love dim sum

        • TampaDink

Only that we supported the most qualified candidate.

          • I love dim sum

If she was qualified, then why did she spend $1.3 billion dollars and still lose to an utter clown like Trump?

You have to be pretty unintelligent to pull off a feat like that.

          • TampaDink

Intelligence has nothing to do with the fact that, unfortunately, in our country money plays a huge part of our electoral process. If Hillary…and the DNC were working with Russia, why do we have the fucking moron sitting in the oval office?

Hes been giving a free pass for what 30 years? there is no get help. Hes scum.

      • JCF

I believe even scummy people need/should be offered help. Sometimes that’s necessary in a locked facility—but I don’t think compassion ever should end.

        • Lazycrockett

This is a power thing, someone who can manipulate other cause they have the ability, its not some illness. Its just being an asshole.

          • billbear1961

It’s the sadistic abuse of power–there is NO excuse for it, and it should be PUNISHED.

        • billbear1961

There is no place for compassion when dealing with sadistic bullies, who enjoy–ENJOY–degrading and tormenting their victims, often repeatedly, and for LONG periods of time.

I feel NO compassion for people like Ailes, Weinstein, O’Reilly, Clarence Thomas, Trump, or Spacey (especially if their victims are minors).

If someone is a PROVEN predator, they need to do TIME (in the same humane conditions a civilized society provides for EVERY prisoner).

When they get out, they should be shunned. They should play no part in PUBLIC life. (What solace such offenders may find in private is the business of the individuals–including employers, for those who need to work–who choose to directly involve themselves in their lives, after prison, lives AWAY from the public spotlight.)

They should be shown precisely the same compassion they showed their victims.

The only people even LESS worthy of compassion are proven torturers and serial killers, for whom life in prison or the death penalty is appropriate.

There are SOME crimes for which true rehabilitation isn’t fully possible.

          • JCF

“There is no place for compassion”

That’s just not my belief-system, BillBear (and I don’t believe compassion is Zero Sum, either: if extended to A, then you run out of it for B). Compassion is a universal constant, moreso than “E=mc2”.

Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.

Universal. Including, as I said, in a locked facility, if someone’s predilection needs to be there.

          • billbear1961

Please don’t quote me out of context: I didn’t say and would NEVER say there is no place for compassion, full stop. I said there is no place for compassion when dealing with sadistic bullies.

There are times when compassion is or would be misplaced.

You don’t waste compassion on sadists–the sadist is a human incarnation of pure evil.

Think of the horrific crimes committed in the death camps during WWII–those crimes were utterly inexcusable–they were even committed against children–you don’t waste compassion on MONSTERS who commit such atrocities. (Think of the atrocities that were committed by the Serbs against Muslims in Bosnia. Think of the monstrous crimes being committed against gay men now in Chechnya. Think of that little boy who was tortured to death by his mother and her boyfriend.)

There ARE crimes which cannot be forgiven.

That doesn’t mean that WE may behave like SAVAGES when we punish monsters, but show them compassion? Feel pity for them? NO, I will show compassion to their VICTIMS, not them, the tormentors, the butchers.

          • JCF

I think we’re just going around&around here, Bill: we simply have different belief-systems. Pax et bonum, and good night (this night owl’s night!). Oh, one thing: compassion does not equal forgiveness (to me).

          • billbear1961

It isn’t for me or anyone else to tell you, in the end, who is worthy of YOUR compassion, JCF. I’ve just tried to explain why *I* believe there ARE some criminals who are unworthy of compassion.

            I hope you slept well!

I agree in principle. However, the split in our party between Mr. Sanders and Ms Clinton is a very real wound in the party. Until this is healed I am afraid the election is our to blow.

In my heart I was hoping the with Mr. Obama the Dems would pass the torch to the next generation Instead we have Pelosi and Schumer, both of whom need to move aside for a new generation. I am 66, so don’t call me ageist.

We need to claim the narrative and frame the next election about the 85% of us who have to work for a living. We have to talk about the need for education (not just focused on a limited subject: computers, medicine, but history and philosophy so people can learn to think. I taught in a college in the 90’s and the students hated it when I made them think. They would bitch to me to “teach what I need to know for the test”. That is not education. Here in Indiana that is what most teachers do because their jobs depend on student scores. In Indiana most children live in homes without a single book.

Our factory jobs pay 1/3 of what they did before the Cheney Depression in 2008. My husband’s factory job went from $28/hr to $13. As a nurse I went 4 years without a raise and now they are 2% when we get one. Obamacare has helped the hospital bottom line, but. .. .

We have to speak to the young and the disenfranchised and bring them aboard or we will all be serfs to the Cock Brothers and their butt buddies.

          • WKT20

“I am 66, so don’t call me ageist.” If Schumer and Pelosi “need to move aside” because they are too old, that is the definition of ageist. I’d like to hear more of your reasoning about why they should that has to do with what a new generation (presumably younger) would bring to the table.

By the way, if you are interested, this interview with her is a real eye opener. At least it was for me. I live in her district.

Thanks for the article after work today. I appreciate the wisdom that comes with age and experience. However when you have been in congress as long as they have a group think or this is they way that has worked in the past mind set takes over. Younger people look at the older members of our society and discount us because we are old.

I say what I said because we need to engage young people in the process and rerunning the same old ideas by people who do not take the narrative away from the rethigs do not help us. The lame slogan the Dems have come up with is a nothing slogan. Where are the ideas to engage the “deplorables” the working person who does not live on the coasts? I blame the DNC for their looser strategy for last year. This is why I say what I have said.

Thanks for questioning me. It keeps me on my toes

wow! bringing Obama into it? They are really desperate, LOL

they also, for some reason, ignore the fact that Obama was ALWAYS a “Democrat”, while Sanders had always been an “independent”.
