Roy Moore +17 In Senate Poll, Calls For Impeaching Judge Who Ruled Against Trump’s Trans Military Ban

The Hill reports:

Republican Roy Moore leads his Democratic opponent in the Alabama Senate race by 17 points, according to a new poll. Moore takes 56 percent of the vote, while Democrat Doug Jones takes 39 percent, according to a survey commissioned by the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), which has ties to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and conducted by Axis Research.

More than half of voters in Alabama are backing Moore, a former state supreme court justice, the poll noted. The survey also said Alabamians care most about transforming Washington, D.C. and moral values. The results of the survey come a little more than one month before the special election to fill the seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

And via press release:

“The decision of a federal judge in the District of Columbia enjoining President Trump’s executive order on transgenderism in the military is absolutely ridiculous and is a perfect example of the outlandish doctrine of judicial supremacy whereby judges exalt themselves over the Constitution they are sworn to uphold. As recently as 2013, the American Psychiatric Association considered transgenderism to be a mental disorder. And only in 2016 did the Obama administration attempt to impose that delusion upon our fighting forces. To say that President Trump cannot prohibit transgenderism in the military is a clear example of judicial activism. Even the United States Supreme Court has never declared transgenderism to be a right under the Constitution.

“Judge Kollar-Kotelly should be impeached by the House of Representatives for unlawful usurpation of power (Article II, § 4) and lack of good behavior (Article III, § 1), and referred to the Senate for a vote on removal. Not only has she placed herself above the Constitution in finding such a nonexistent right, but she has also interfered with the powers of the President as Commander in Chief of the armed forces under Article II, § 2, of the Constitution. Unless we return to faithful obedience to the Constitution and the separation of powers set out therein, our form of government and our liberties will be in dire jeopardy. Congress should not turn a deaf ear to this flagrant usurpation of executive authority.”

Al Afucking Bama. Where a piece of shit who’s been tossed off the bench twice can still manage to win by 17 points against a decent person who happens to think that blacks and gays shouldn’t be lynched.

    • MT YVR

Isn’t it great that our benchmark is the all time high of “won’t lynch”? Not… you know… support or help. Just… won’t lynch. Yay progress.

      • Treant

I’ve come to the conclusion that there are about a dozen states that are, simply, filled with people who reject the concept of a Republic. And they don’t need to secede because they should be summarily tossed out on their asses after a period for subsidized repatriation of the non-goobers who live there.

We can keep our side of the border wide open, too. Wanna leave? They have plenty of room what with the no healthcare, lynchings, mass shootings, and opium problems. Enjoy.

        ~ Martin Niemöller

        • Rebecca Gardner

Sadly, his attitude was very much like those that supported Trump and are now regretting their decision. He wrote…

I find myself wondering about that too. I wonder about it as much as I regret it. Still, it is true that Hitler betrayed me. I had an audience with him, as a representative of the Protestant Church, shortly before he became Chancellor, in 1932. Hitler promised me on his word of honor, to protect the Church, and not to issue any anti-Church laws. He also agreed not to allow pogroms against the Jews, assuring me as follows: “There will be restrictions against the Jews, but there will be no ghettos, no pogroms, in Germany.”

I really believed, given the widespread anti-Semitism in Germany, at that time—that Jews should avoid aspiring to Government positions or seats in the Reichstag. There were many Jews, especially among the Zionists, who took a similar stand. Hitler’s assurance satisfied me at the time. On the other hand, I hated the growing atheistic movement, which was fostered and promoted by the Social Democrats and the Communists. Their hostility toward the Church made me pin my hopes on Hitler for a while.

I am paying for that mistake now; and not me alone, but thousands of other persons like me.

    • GayOldLady

Let’s face it, Alabama and Mississippi are the armpits of the planet. They stink!!! There are good people in Alabama, but not enough to throw the sort of mental illness that Roy Moore has overboard. We have a ton of work to do, but it can change and will change over time. We just have to hang in there. We have Northam leading the polls in the VA Gov race by 17 and Murphy leading the NJ Gov race by 16. Those contests are next week and we will win both.

As hard as it is to believe right now, we will get through this as long as we keep fighting for what’s right.

I remember driving through Alabama 25 years ago. I stopped at a hotel in Bessemer just outside Birmingham. I could hardly believe my ears when the local TV reporter glibly announced that the Ku Klux Klan would be holding a rally in downtown Bessemer the following Saturday, as though it were a Shriners parade. I thought to myself, “welcome to Dixie” and promptly drove on the next morning. Haven’t returned since. One night in Alabama was more than enough!

      • Hunter M

It’s not just Alabama and Mississippi. It’s every state in the country. Go outside the big cities and you’ll find this mentality everywhere. This country has a lot of work ahead of it, to drag these people screaming into the 21st century. Education is what it takes and that takes time.

  • DesertSun59

Honestly, blue states should talk about letting these deep red states go already. Just push them out of the union. They suck up our federal dollars and make life miserable for everyone.

      • mark99k

Agree. After every Dem victory a flurry of online petitions surface asking to let some asshat state ‘peacefully secede.’ These are of course ultimately pointeless, but stupider things have happened, so if there ever comes a time when their fractious indignation rise to the appropriate level, IMO our best course may be to let them fucking go. Optimistically the money we save from eliminate the tax drain would compensate for any direct loss to the economy as a whole, and we’d be overall a smarter, slimmer (in 2 senses) America.

        • pch1013

Red states hate California, and the feeling is mutual, so why shouldn’t California secede?

He will be a grandstanding a-hole. They think he’s a predictable vote for whatever they want, but like all these fetid lowlifes, he’l do whatever garners him the most attention.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

    Alabama, ’nuff said.

anyone who thinks a democrat can win anything in alabama is living in a dream. i grew up there. i can tell you the place is a miserable cess pool. However I predict roy moore wins. republicans win more seats in 2018, trump wins again in 2020 and a quasi religious theocracy like Russia is what will be imposed. The constitution will be suspended. democrats do not vote in numbers needed to win anything anymore. between the hate filled whites who are still in the majority and the gerry mandering that goes on there will be more advances made at the ballot box. If we want to stop this nightmare you guys know its going to take a revolution at this point. these fascist are not going to walk away from the power they have. get used to that, prepare yourself and your family and come up with a plan. you will need it in the next 8 years.

      Holy shit!

    • pch1013

      I wish you were wrong.

Translation, blacks, Latinos and LGBT need to shut up about the attacks on them so we go after working class whites who will NEVER vote for us.

      • Rebecca Gardner

He kinda looks like Marshall Applewhite with that hairdo.

        • Boreal

          Heaven’s gate part deux.

          • Rebecca Gardner

            Don’t eat the pudding!!!!!!!

    • Treant

Honestly. Does anybody even listen to him blather on any longer? I used to have respect for him, at this point, I simply ignore him as much as possible. He exposed himself as a “soft” bigot during the campaign and that, for me, was that.

      • Boreal

He spent donor money to visit the pope. That was it for me.

        • Treant

He went after Clinton’s data because it was wearing a short skirt and walking in a bad part of town.

    • SoCalGal20

So blacks, LGBT, Latinos, and women aren’t ordinary Americans?

  • GayOldLady

This is a pathetic old man who gives voice to the worst prejudices of his fellow citizens. The fact that he has been backed by the League of the South and other White Nationalist groups tells us everything we need to know about how little his associations matter to most of the voting public. We need every Senate seat we can win, but not winning Alabama is not a surprise. It’s exactly what we’d expect from such a regressive State. It will take at least another generation to fix what’s wrong with Alabama.

  • Barry William Teske

    Oh look!
A certain someone is self occupied with ‘supremacy’.
Perhaps they know something about processed cheese and hamburger emoji’s too?

  • ByronK

Separation of powers? What about the separation of church and state, asshole. Stop trying to drag the country kicking and screaming back to the 18th century. Just fucking stop it.

  • Turtle73

It may well be time to put the entire state of Alabama under US military occupation.

    • pch1013

Right now it’s the other way around.

      • Turtle73

        We need to fix that.

  • infmom

Says the guy who thinks the Establishment Clause doesn’t exist?

  • Mark

Doing my research, I do not believe a federal judge may be impeached just for delivering a ruling you don’t like roy boy.

  • WarrenHart

I live outside Mobile Alabama and I’m seeing a lot more Doug Jones yard signs than I would have ever thought there would have been.

    • 2guysnamedjoe

      That’s very encouraging!

  • dcurlee

People need to get out and vote against this asshole

  • Lindoro Almaviva

I will let that percentage reflect on the state of AL as a whole. They are who they elect.

  • JWC

Alabama send Roy and Kyla on a long o/w trip and send their son to another Steve I believe there might be a vacancy

  • nipper

What happened last poll i thought they were close

  • SammySeattle

This. From a man who was actually removed from the bench.

  • teedofftaxpayer

All I can say is it’s Alabama. They’re not going to elect a Democrat.

  • Joseph Miceli

You all know this shit head is going to win, right? I think it will eventually take federal troops to bring these people in line. Keep that in mind when we elect the eventual nominee this time around.

  • kladinvt

Alabamans R stoopit and ain’t no one gunna tell them udderwize!

  • JCF

    FAKE NEWS!!!

  • If Moore is elected, can’t we just have Alabama ejected from the Union?

    • ted-

      PLeeeeeeease…

  • If elected, Moore should not be allowed into the Senate. *He* should be impeached and convicted before he is even allowed to take the oath of office. (Not that it is likely to happen)

  • ted-

    I can’t stand that state.

  • There’s something in the water that causes dain bramage. Only explanation I can find.

  • Ann Kah

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t he impeached in Alabama? He has probably just been waiting for a chance to get even. I don’t think “ruling in a way I don’t like” is an impeachable offense.

  • KnownDonorDad

Oh, Alabama, why must you live up to such low expectations? “Alabama’s got me so upset….”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ25-U3jNWM

  • justmeeeee

The only conclusion to be drawn here is…Alabama voters are stupid as shit!

  • Gianni

It’s a pity, but perhaps Alabama should adopt a new state motto: The Lowest Bar In The Lower Forty-Eight.
