Obama Speechwriter Goes As Kushner For Halloween

Trick-or-treat:

An ex-speechwriter for former President Barack Obama apparently dressed as Jared Kushner for Halloween, and handcuffed himself to his wife, who dressed as Ivanka Trump. Jon Favreau tweeted out a photo of the costume, which shows him mimicking Kushner when the president’s son-in-law and White House senior advisor wore a flak jacket over his blazer and khakis during a trip to Iraq. Favreau is handcuffed to his wife Emily, who is wearing a pink dress and is holding a copy of Ivanka Trump’s book “The Trump Card.”

The one thing that I am not happy about My provinve BC stil allows trophy hunting. Their answer to curbing it is to raise the price of the trophy license. Other than this photo op what happened to the bears carcass .There is a great push to ban it totally

      • bambinoitaliano

We have more than enough selections of agriculture protein. Hunting for thrill should never be allow. It’s not a sport nor a game. I understand some live in a remote region and relying on wild life as sustenance but this asshole activity did not serve any purpose.

It is legal to kill bears in New Jersey during October hunting season. I just don’t want to see an animal suffer. Do I agree with hunting no, but he has the right.

    • Sam_Handwitch

someone should shoot him in his sleep

          • Lars Littlefield

Until recently we had a young moose that was a local celebrity in our little valley. The moose was often seen in the area peacefully enjoying being a moose. Moose are dangerous, but this young moose seemed almost tame and had never bothered anyone.

A local resident, let’s call him Wade Johnson of Moab, Ut., spent this last entire spring and summer stalking the young moose in the lower Manti Lasalles. Wade Johnson of Moab, Ut. was often seen sitting in a lawn chair somewhere along the many hiking, horse, and biking trails watching the moose with his field binoculars.

A week ago Wade Johnson of Moab, Ut. was on the front page of our local twinkler. They published three photos of him gutting and dressing the young moose on a famous slick rock biking trail. Although he had a hunting permit and it is hunting season, that young moose never had a chance. Even the hard core NRA gun-loving hunters in these parts now talk of Wade Johnson of Moab, Ut. with disgust and contempt. “Real hunter doesn’t act so cowardly,” is one of the most repeated criticisms. Recreationalists who have encountered Wade Johnson of Moab, Ut. stalking the young moose on the hiking/biking trails have put up posters declaring him to be a public menace no one should talk to. He’s the talk of the county.

Personally, I think it’s the photos taken by mountain bikers showing Wade Johnson of Moab, Ut. dressing and cleaning the young moose on the slick rock trail where hundreds of folks on bicycles had to pedal past him, all the blood and the guts . . . well, those photos are especially graphic.

But the kill was perfectly legal. Nothing to see here. Move along. Go home and give candy to your children.
            Blech.

          • jmax

Someone who would kill an animal in that way is not capable of being shamed. They have no conscience.

      • Daveed_WOW

        questionable taste all around

    • canoebum

From the New Jersey Hunting Regulations for Black Bear: “It is illegal to take or attempt to take a bear in a den structure.”

This guy is in big trouble.

Personally, I have no problem with hunting for game which are natural prey animals, like whitetail deer. But a bear is a noble animal, like a horse. What possible reason is there to shoot a bear in this point of human development? If there is a problem bear, the wildlife officers in your area will take care of the problem properly. Otherwise, these shy woodland creatures, who are essential to a healthy forest environment, should be left alone.

      • joeyj1220

Just curious… what makes one animal “noble” and another not? I’m not opposed to hunting for food nor am I a vegetarian. Just wondering. I find deer rather noble

        • canoebum

They certainly are beautiful and interesting creatures, no doubt. But here in the eastern US, we’ve extirpated almost all their natural predators, lynx, cougar, wolf and most of the bobcats, and now the population is out of control. There are more whitetail deer in the US now than there was 200 years ago. So, to restore some balance and to keep the herds healthy, we need to hunt them. The same cannot be said of bears, wolves, foxes, cougar. I don’t have a definition of what makes an animal noble in my eyes, it’s just how I feel about them. Some creatures should not be hunted in our modern society, with exception of subsistence hunting among indigenous peoples. That’s a different story.

          • marshlc

I’d say horse are a natural prey species – herbivores who live in herds, in nature.

    • kaydenpat

      Beyond sick.

    • Dave B

One problem with this, black bears in New jersey don’t hibernate, they torpor. Black bears in new jersey can and will be active year round depending on the weather. Considering there’s no snow on the ground and the hunter is in t-shirts in the photo the weather must have been somewhat warm, the bear was most likely active.

    • gaycuckhubby

    • Duh-David

Here in Ohio, several years ago, driving through Rockefeller Park, I came upon a woman, with her hatchback stopped mid-intersection, with the hatch open, running around, flapping her arms, trying to herd an enormous wild turkey into the car. It’s a poor neighborhood, and was right before Thanksgiving, but they continually warn people that the wild turkeys are full of parasites and inedible. Now the deer are delicious and more plentiful than pigeons in NYC. If the herd isn’t thinned, we have starving deer all winter. But, bears, I believe, are always out-of-season.

His calculus seems to be to get tax reform done by the end of the year. His deplorables will be screwed by it but they’re mindless and will applaud him.

Democrats must do everything they can to deny the tyrant a victory.

      • Sam_Handwitch

sounds like things aren’t going so well in the House on that front

        • Skeptical_Inquirer

        • another_steve

          I hope so.

The Dems led a pretty good campaign against Trumpcare. Activists were mobilized. They confronted Republicans both at their congressional offices in D.C. and in their home districts.

If Trump’s tax giveaway to the wealthy gains momentum and appears to be on the verge of passing, the Dems will once again need to organize and confront the Republican monsters.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

As much as I loathe them, various corporate industries will be sure to have a snit at any changes that hurt them and slow the process down. Wall Street won’t like any cuts in how much $ go into 401Ks and the housing industry will dislike any cuts in mortgage interest and/or property tax deductions. And that’s just for starters.

        • another_steve

Similar to how the health care industry hated Trumpcare and lobbied against it.

I’m sure the Senate Republicans who ended up voting against Trumpcare were getting daily phone calls from health care industry lobbyists.

    • kaydenpat

35% is still too high. But we all know that Trump will do his darnesdest to go much lower. Yes. He. Can.

      • another_steve

According to some political analysts, 30% approval is the magic number.

If he goes below that, congressional Republicans up for reelection will turn on him.

        Big time.

      • TuuxKabin
      • John30013

Actually, it seems he can’t go much lower. There seems to be a solid third of the country (the hard core deplorables) who will support him no matter what.

        • clay

According to Pew, about 6% are Nazi White Nationalists, about 13% are “Party First” Republicans, and about 12% are Disaffected Populists. If he goes (consistently across the polls, through time, beyond the margin of error) below 31%, he’s bleeding “core deplorables”.

      • greenmanTN

Can I borrow a cup of sugar?

Sure Sugar, come on over. Making up a batch of lemon balm tincture. The last batch is almost gone, make good lemonade with tequila or vodka. Raining like the rains of Rana Japur, want I should come get you in the buggy?

          • Treant

Squee! I’m shredding my laundry soap, then I’ll start making amethyst points out of soap.

          • TuuxKabin

            But can I drink it?

          • Treant

            Alas, no.

          • TuuxKabin

Then I’ll sip the tinctures and soak in the tub with the soapy bubbles. It does bubble up?

          • Treant

Of course, although I personally tend to like more creamy lather than bubbles.

          • TuuxKabin

            definitely.

quick question IF you feel like being pestered:

To make a lotion from tinctures, add . . . ? Lanolin? Bees wax? I’m fine drinking them, but some are pleasantly scented. And I’d like to use the calendula / marigold as repellent next season. Thanks.

          • Treant

            Pesterer. 🙂

A good basic lotion mix (from Soap Queen, who tests her recipes and shows the tutorial!) is:

            70-80% Distilled Water
            3-5% Stearic Acid
            3-6% Emulsifing Wax
add the rest in your choice of oils and buttersTo this add
            .5 – 1% Preservative
            .5% Fragrance

(By Emulsifying Wax, she means Polawax, or their version, which is a generic. It’s cheap; at $5 for a pound, you can make a boat ton of lotion with that).

            And the tutorial is: https://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/lotion/gift-series-lotion-tutorial-from-scratch-2/

In your case, the balance of “rest” would be partly your tincture, and your tincture will also partially use up the distilled water. You’ll want a carrier oil, like avocado or olive, as well.

          • TuuxKabin

Well, we’ve got both ‘carrier oils’ in the house. It’s a start. And for the long / short days coming up, well, why not learn some new tricks, je, je.

            Thanks!

          • TuuxKabin

Yeah, that’s why we switched from butter to creme freiche, creamier, richer, over and in so many dishes.

          • Dreaming Vertebrate

How do you shred soap? Is there a special tool for that?

            Ha!

          • Treant

A lot of people use a food processor (it’s just soap, after all, the same stuff you clean it with), or a pyramid cheese grater. I like the cheese grater, personally. It’s much better exercise.

The first tray, about 60% of the mass, is already done and drying. I’m working on the second.

        • Treant

          Pour some sugar on him.

          • TuuxKabin

            wha’ for? It’s raining.

          • Treant

            Sexual innuendo.

          • TuuxKabin

            ‘Tay.

    • Reality.Bites

It’s a rare case where the real-life person is way cuter than the Hollywood one.

Totally different with the Obama Kal Penn and Kal Penn the actor. 😉

    • Dazzer

Don’t worry – I thought the exact same thing.

In fact, when I saw the photo above, my first reaction was: “Well, he’s had work done”.

    • clay

      Obama was a centrist.
He was not that much of a centrist.

      • canoebum

I’m going to go out on a limb here and state that “Centrist” is not a dirty word. A couple more not dirty words: good governance.

    • bambinoitaliano

Actually the former speech writer share the same name as this actor/director you posted. The Halloween picture does not do him justice.

Weather related I think. Saw a coastal flood alert for Long Island from Thunderclap. Either that or an STD site.

    • stevenj

Everyone screams it out at once. Easy to find on google:

O/T…I love it when Joy goes full FACTUAL on Trump apologists….

          Let snark begin to fly
          Let every shoe and sole
Fly and hit on their score
          And lefties and progo’s sing
          And libutls and radi’s sing

          or sumsuch.

          Good morning.

    • I’ll give Kerns one thing: She knows just enough actual facts to confuse the shit out of people who have no clue what actually happened.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

Indeed, that’s what makes people like her so dangerous.

      • Ninja0980

Yup, and they know that too.

      • JWC

And because she supposedly speaks on behalf of the Orange shitgibbon then ergo its gospel The blonf white lady said so

        • TuuxKabin

Love ‘blonf’ – or is that a typo? She looks like a blonf.

          • JWC

            probably a workable typo

    • JWC

      chop chop shread puree

    • This here sums up the Trumper/GOPer scam in just a few characters:

    • JWC

One has to wonder where wasthis type of investigative reporting back in the primary Had any member of the media had the balls to nail any and all GOP we wouldn’t be in this mess All Hail the power of Snake Oil

      • Randy Left Brooklyn

Everything Joy said was out there in 2016, which is why the story got no traction when the GOP brought it up then. It is absolutely absurd to rehash this thoroughly debunked slander.

    • jimbo65

Glad it was Joy’s show this happened. The other weekend MSNBC hosts wouldn’t have challenged it or played the both sides game.

Is it wrong that he gets me all hot and bothered?

    • bambinoitaliano

Leave the bird alone!! Have you no shame?!! 😛

OT: kakapo, a NZ flightless parrot. A walking green feathered football.

    https://youtu.be/hV6-oNRSqCk

    • TuuxKabin

      How beautiful. Thanks.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

I’m hoping they can save the species. It’ll take some doing though.

        • TuuxKabin

Yes. They have increased the population by three fold, reported. The islands have to remain isolated, free from predators. And that bit of DNA testing to gather more information . . . a bit of hope.

Nature is perfect. The universe is perfect.

In the Daoist classic, the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tsu writes:

Do you think you can take over the
      universe and improve it?
I do not believe it can be done.

      The universe is sacred.
      You cannot improve it.
If you try to change it, you will ruin it.
If you try to hold it, you will lose it.

~ Verse 29, Gia Fu Feng / Jane English trans.

    • BobSF_94117

It’s gotten to the point I can’t watch nature videos anymore. We’re killing everything…

    • Lars Littlefield

I’d much rather have an army of these little guys marching around than all the abandoned and stray domestic cats I have to deal with.

    • Dazzer

A slightly different take on the kakapo as Stephen Fry’s friend gets shagged by a randy parrot.

      It’s funny.

And to the shallow side of comment pool:

    That’s a really hot couple.

  • White Canary

I am so bummed out to learn that he’s straight. I had assumed, for whatever reason, that he was gay.

  • greenmanTN
    • Did you draw these? Fantastic art work!

      • greenmanTN

They’re mine. The winged devil is after Gustav Doré.

        • Damn! You have some mad art skills!
