Protester Gets Within Feet Of Trump In Senate Building, Throws Russian Flags, Shouts “Treason!” [VIDEO]

CBS News reports:

President Donald Trump has arrived on Capitol Hill to lunch with GOP senators after sparring with several of them, as congressional Republicans turn to overhauling the tax code. The president arrived and was escorted by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as reporters shouted questions. The two are set to meet briefly before they head to Senate policy lunches to greet other Republicans. Meanwhile, an unidentified man shouted and threw what appeared to be Russian flags at Mr. Trump, screaming “Trump is treason!” and “We should be talking about treason not tax cuts!”

  • DreadPikathulhu

I have no doubt that the GOP will use this to discredit criticism and investigations as products of the “looney left”.

    • Todd20036

Meh. They use anything. At least this protestor put some imagination into it

      • Lars Littlefield

        And he was appropriately dressed.

    • Danieruw

And to keep out the press.

    • Daveed_WOW

I’m lost past caring about the Right Wing narrative.

  • Todd20036

Did Trumpy run scared to his mom?
Wonder if the protestor will be charged with assault.

    • LVBx3

Probably pissed that the attention & cameras turned toward the protester & away from him.

If memory serves me correctly, I think this is the same guy that shouted down Kushner too in a Senate building on his way to a Russiagate interview.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

He’s the guy who put out all those Russian flags at the GOP convention

      • Uncle Mark

I LOVED watching all those Repubican know-nothings “patriotically” waving those flags (because they were red, white & blue)…before all those GOP officials started running around to collect those.

    • Steverino

      American patriot.

    • GayOldLady

For months I wrote to Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander warning them that HISTORY would remember them as Senators who betrayed our Democracy by not standing up to Trump. I asked them why I could see that he was a danger to our society, to our country, but they could not. I’m proud that Corker FINALLY found the courage to come out against Trump, now I’m waiting on Lamar.

      • Ragnar Lothbrok

Too bad the only ones finding this new courage are those retiring.

        • GayOldLady

I don’t care when they find it as long as they find it.

      • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

Wrote to my Congress-critters demanding that they need to reach across the aisle and begin working toward impeachment as Trump is a clear danger to our Democracy. Talked about how he is not only not taking action to secure our elections from future interference, therefore he is derelict in his most basic duties, protecting our democracy.

Dick Durbin wrote back, sympathizing with my frustration but claiming that Trump has not done anything to warrant impeachment. Dickie lost my vote.

        • GayOldLady

I’ve been pounding Corker and Lamar for months to do what they can, but not asking them to impeach. I’ve asked them to shut down his madness by publicly taking a stand against his lunacy. I understand that articles of impeachment happen in the House and as long as the GOP/Teaparty folks run the house we will need more than we currently have to impeach. But I’m convinced that Mueller is behind the scenes doing what needs to be done to present a case for collusion and obstruction of Justice and possibly other crimes associated with Trump, the Trump family and even some members of the GOP. There will be some deals made for testimony and there will be some deals refused because they have enough evidence without a deal. Remember, Mueller has hired the best Prosecutors in the country to his team. He has the resources and the authority to get to the truth and I’m certain he will.

          • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

I have faith in Mueller and the lack of leaks and the legal team he has assembled says a lot. But the time to make a bulletproof case against the entire crime ring (which I imagine will be rather all encompassing) is taking so much time, what will be left of our country? The judges being appointed won’t go away, the decimation to government and exodus of qualified & experienced employees can’t be undone by the wave of a wand.

And most importantly, the hatred that Trump and his ilk has inflamed is not a light switch that can simply be turned off when Trump exits the WH.

          • GayOldLady

I agree with everything you say, but I remember Watergate well and it takes time to lock down everything and everyone who had a hand in this crime against our Nation. If indictments come too soon, (I believe there are already sealed indictments) then that would/could run a flag up the flagpole for co-conspirators. This will not be over quickly, but I believe we’ll see some of the fruit of this investigation soon.

On the advice of my Doctor/Friend I stepped back away from this about 3 weeks ago. I closed it down for a couple of days, then I began re-reading pieces that I’ve read over the months to see if I had a different perspective. Surprisingly, what I could clearly see is that the majority of the investigative journalism is telling us that the Trump campaign was corrupted by outside influences and that influence is Russia. Now the task becomes proving that Trump knew and that he was a party to it. I believe Mueller has that information because I believe Comey had that information. All it needed was direct witness testimony. I think we’ll be seeing the first wave of indictments soon and with those indictments we’ll also find out that there are people who were willing to talk to save themselves. The fact that we’re not getting leaks from the Mueller team is a great sign.

          • SkokieGuy [ChicagoAdjacentGuy]

I remember Watergate too. And we have to face it that rushing to judgement without absolutely bulletproof evidence would be worse than doing nothing. It charges and convictions don’t happen, then Trumpers will dance and feel vindicated and the theft our our country will continue at and even more rapid pace.

I so hope that people actually go to jail. Trump doesn’t want to be President, he even said on the set of the Apprentice, that he’d be back in a few months. To let him out of the responsibilities of the office would be a fit to him. Conviction, the confiscation of his wealth and a broad net that captures as many as possible (did the Mercers assist with or help fund collaboration? What about Russian payments, collusion with Breitbart to disseminate fake news?).

Everyone laughed at Hillary’s ‘vast right wing conspiracy’ comment. The truth is coming home to roost.

          • GayOldLady

            Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • charemor

  • Dreaming Vertebrate

Please alert when it goes up!

    • zhera

Is there a law against what he did? If he got in there legally, I don’t see how he can be prosecuted for anything. Not that Sessions and tRump won’t try!

      • David Walker

He hurt 45’s widdle self-centered feelwings. Assuming the Fucking Moron was even conscious at the time. 45 definitely needs more of this.

        • JackFknTwist

          I totally agree…….we need in-your-face protest.
          Well done to this protester.

      • The_Wretched

Assault is the crime of fear of getting hit. Typically, however, political protests are not prosecuted or the judges toss the cases as protected speech.

        • The Sentinel

Typically. Unfortunately, nothing is typical anymore.

        • William

Isn’t that woman who chucked at Sessions still being prosecuted?

          • The_Wretched

Found guilty by a jury of 2 misdemeanors and then the judge threw it out or something and is now on a retrial.

          • William

Ryan Clayton will get the chair.

  • Lars Littlefield

. . . and then . . . he’s down. Security surrounds him and pushes him down to hand cuff, muzzle and cart off to jail. Sadly, he was only one person. There needs to be thousands of them willing to do the exact same thing.

    • pch1013

I’m willing. Not that Trump would ever dare to show his lying treasonous piggy face in SF though.

      • matrem

I remember when Obama came to visit my old Potrero Hill neighborhood a couple of years back. People brought their kids to see him, though we only got to see him through glass.

The very act of handcuffing and dragging a peaceful protester shows how aggressive and fascist US political life has become.

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha!

The worst thing that could have happened to Trump was if one of the tiny flags fell on his GIANT IGNORANT MOUTH and shut him up for a second. But, that would have been the best thing for the rest of the world.

      • LeeCMH

Perhaps a brief respite, but tRump will be fat fingering his phone with a barrage of hateful tweets.

      • David Walker

45 is always threatened by truth.

    • j.martindale

Yeah, shouting out the truth and throwing handkerchief sized flags–I suppose rethugs will call this a “threat.” Asshole.

    • JRDC

      Sarcasm?

    • Megrim Twist

He didn’t threaten the President of the US. He threw some flags and yelled at some old, fat, racist fuckstick.

    • Uncle Mark

Yes…yes !! How dare he threaten the President with the truth? He’s a MONSTER !!

      • Uncle Mark

I’m sure liddle Sessy Jeff will be piling up charges and sending secret service and the FBI to his door steps waiting to raid his place and place him under arrest.

    • Uncle Mark

I’d laugh at that, but the Evil Elf has made that illegal too

  • Gustav2
  • zhera

The real question is: why aren’t EVERYBODY shouting “TREASON!” at tRump? Everyone from top GOP and DEM to whoever washes the dishes at Mar a Lago.

    • David Walker

Because he goes only where he thinks he’ll be safe and/or loved. That’s what I think is so perfect about this. Ryan Clayton will probably be detained for speaking the truth. I’d love see a loudspeaker at his country club of choice and hear the same sort of thing. Overhead aircraft are probably not allowed, but it would be fairly easy to sneak in a speaker system. Just as 45 starts his swing he’d hear, “Trump is Treason!” or “Traitor!” or “Liar!” Just ruin his day.

      • Halou

The ease of sneaking in electronic devices into or around a site is why Camp David exists, an area that is deliberately isolated and under 24/7/365 lock down, any unauthorised person or vehicle can be detained. Whereas at mar-a-lago there are other homes in close proximity and civilian roads passing nearby, anybody with equipment and intent can park up and start observing and could just claim to have a legitimate purpose for being there. Nobody can do anything about it.

  • Darrel Cj

    • David Walker

I’m still amazed and grateful that he got that close. He probably wasn’t carrying anything metallic that would be out of the ordinary, so he passed security. I love this, really honest and for real. We’ve seen it can be done. Now it’s time to become even more blatant. 45 needs to hear what’s going on, whether it chooses to believe or not.

      • 2guysnamedjoe

Gotta remember — non-metallic pie pans only.

  • j.martindale

Treason Not Tax Cuts–good headline, media. Are you paying attention?

  • LeeCMH

In these comments, I am reading suggestions of violence against the president.

I am concerned these kinds of sentiments — while understandable — impugn our intellectual integrity.

That rhetoric sounds so much like the comments we see on hate driven sites. We don’t want to reduce ourselves to their level.

During the Anita Bryant Save Our Children campaign, I recall folks saying someone should “take care” of Anita. I was worried that some crazy queen would. Instead, she got a pie in the face, which was far more effective and hilarious.
