Trump Staffers Promoted Russian Twitter Trolls

The Daily Beast reports:

Some of the Trump campaign’s most prominent names and supporters, including Trump’s campaign manager, digital director, and son, pushed tweets from professional trolls paid by the Russian government in the heat of the 2016 election campaign.

The Twitter account @Ten_GOP, which called itself the “Unofficial Twitter account of Tennessee Republicans,” was operated from the Kremlin-backed “Russian troll farm,” or Internet Research Agency, a source familiar with the account confirmed with The Daily Beast.

Former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn retweeted the Russian-backed troll account at least once. His son, Michael Flynn Jr., retweeted the account 34 times before it was removed from Twitter in August for its ties to Russian propaganda.

The account notably pushed for Flynn’s reappointment as Trump’s national security adviser, a job Flynn lost after press revelations that he’d lied about his telephone discussions with the Russian ambassador after the election hacks. It also repeatedly pushed Breitbart-backed talking points, including a fake news story about a gang rape in Twin Falls, Idaho, that merited dozens of articles from Breitbart News.

There’s SO much more at the link.

They love anything that makes them look good, to bad everything that makes them look good is fake.

    • CanuckDon

Yeah…it’s interesting how much interest you get when you tell them you’re a buff 35 year old CEO, 8.5″ uncut top who travels the world but is looking for love with a homebody type.

      • Tawreos

Why are you quoting from the ads I usually place on dating sites? =)

        • CanuckDon

I knew that was you from those sweet eyes and look of innocence.

      • Karl Dubhe

        People actually believe personal ads?

I stopped believing them in the days of dial up….

I detest the smell of collusion in the morning!

    • greenmanTN

Napalm at an alt-right rally might not be so bad. It could be a new Yankee Candle scent.

  • vorpal 😼

How much evidence of collusion do we need until we can expect the conclusion of collusion?

    • greenmanTN

Maybe we should convene a committee to consider concluding there was collusion and whether there should be consequences.

      • Tawreos

Are the two of you trying to write a patter song?

        • greenmanTN

Please. Preparing a patter piece might precipitate palpitations!

          • Kenster999

            Peripatetic palpitations, perhaps!

      • bobbyjoe

Totally– time to truly tell the terrible tale of the toxic trolls trumpeting trash for Trump the treasonous traitor.

  • SoCalGal20

It too 11 months for twitter to remove that ONE Russian troll account even though the real TN GOP told them months ago.

    • greenmanTN

Well when you put it that way…

    • Ninja0980

Twitter deserves a lot of scorn for this.

  • boatboy_srq

Time to replace the #NotNormal hashtag with #NotPatriotic, methinks.

    • HanyBaal

YES, The Democrats and every patriotic citizen should start talking about the Russian conspiracy in terms of PATRIOTISM, not just because of the stolen election. This is a hostile foreign power influencing public opinion, policy makers and the voting system, the very foundations of democracy. Where is the rage? The “I want my county back” crowd have handed the nation’s sovereignty to a sinister despot backed by immoral oligarchs. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???!!!! Putin is playing the oldest game in the book: “Divide and conquer”, while the President Twitters. The Right and the Left may have different values, but PATRIOTISM SHOULD BE A COMMON VALUE. Let’s focus on this, our first duty of being loyal citizens instead of lusting after jingoistic symbols at sports games and treating each other like the enemy.

      • JackFknTwist

Yeah, while sports players “take the knee” ( another American bastardization of the English language; the verb is ‘knelt’ “), Trump in the White House :
        -denigrates McCain for fighting in the Vietnam War;
-denigrates the Khan Gold Star Family,
-Falsely promises a cheque of support to a vet father.
-insults a wife and widow of a killed Green Beret
        -falsely attacks former Presidents to bolster his own neglect;
        -egregiously conspires or encourages his minions to conspire with Russian operatives to undermine the election;
-ignores four Green Berets killed in Niger and plays golf instead.

This skunk with his moron attention span has ruined the USA (the environment, health care, international relations, threatening war over and over ) at home and internationally.

As someone here posted last week the Queen of England has served more time in the military ( and during war time ) than the whole Trump/turd Kushner families put together.
Why are we tolerating mediocrity ?

        • KarenAtFOH

To “take a knee” is a valid football term. I think it is a great metaphor, because when a player takes a knee, all play is stopped, and no injury is possible.

          • JackFknTwist

            1. A player is not ‘playing’ at the material time.
            2. He is kneeling, past tense : knelt…..the player knelt.

No. the player did not ‘ take a knee’….as in take or suffer a knee injury; he simply knelt.

Trump/turd has barely a passing acquaintance with the English language …….I hope that lack of interest is not spreading.

  • bkmn

I really want to see these assholes do prison time.

    • David L. Caster

That would be great but I would not hold my breath.

    • JackFknTwist

Yeah, it’s deliberate treason, premeditated . to conspire with a foreign hostile power to undermine or sway the presidential election.
There is no crime higher than treason.
They have to do long long stretches in prison.
I suggest a minimum of 50 years for Jared.

Evidence. Their intent is irrelevant. Promoting the propaganda of a hostile foreign state has to be a criminal act. If there isn’t a relevant statute, you can bet your ass if a Democrat had done this Congress would be impeaching a Democratic President.
